He'd been curious as to what mortal cubs were allowed to get up when they had parents or what having a parent was even like. She seemed to still be able to wander, but there were restrictions. "Does your parents let you wander?" His eyes scanned the horizon for any signs of bigger lions but saw nothing.
To her question, he just shrugged before moving over to the tree, digging his claws in and raking them down to sharpen them. He probably should think about getting back up there and taking off, but it had been a long while since he had a nice talk. "I've always been alone."

"Well.....yeah." Her eyes followed his for a moment, thinking about how her mother would actually feel about her constant wandering around. She tended to keep a somewhat-tight radius, but it must cause some worry. "I think mother understands my wandering heart." Looking down, a soft smile arose on her face. Even at this young age, she knew that she would lead a life like this; like the very wind that brushed against her cheek. It was exciting and frightening at the same time, thinking about going away from this place to see all kinds of different places.
"I wonder how that feels." It was whispered, but not meant in a bad way. She really did wonder, because maybe some others liked being alone. Families did, after all, have their pros and cons. "But I don't think you'll be alone forever." Grinning at him, it may have just been the naivety of a cub that was shining through, but Latifu just got that feeling about this god.

It was a hopeful optimism that she was offering, but he had heard it before, and he wasn't sure he was up for hearing it again. He missed Palahala, he missed being in the herd, but most of all, he wished he just had a place to belong. He had enough of his fair share of wandering, and even as young as he was, he was growing tired.
"Yeah...it's the waiting that I worry about. Gods can live for a very long time." He looked to her for a forced smile. "I've been wandering all my life. I never had a family. I wonder how it's like sometimes.' But there was nothing he could do about something as final as not having parents. It was the magic and curse of being a god. That you could exist without family, that you didn't need it to live, but it wasn't something he didn't want. It sounded nice.
"Don't wander too far. You have something special."

"Maybe you'll just have to go out and search for it." Nodding her head, she offered another smile towards him. It had become a part of her fledgling philosophy that it was no use just sitting around waiting for something to happen; one would have to push on and go for what they wanted themselves.
Not that he wasn't doing that, but it was the only counter-advice she could really offer. But it seemed like he deserved the same sort of happiness that she knew, right? "I would hate to think that you would end up living a long time being lonely." Tilting her head to the side, she let out a sigh. It was probably an odd trade-off for gods; have all sorts of magical powers, live for such a long time, but have the curse of being alone in life. If she thought back, she never had actually seen more than one god at a time.
"Ah, I guess you're right." Breezing a bit by his last comment, she tucked it away in her mind, showing only a small blushing grin because of it. "I hope mother's not too worried right now. Maybe I should get back to her." Eyes sliding towards the horizon, she wondered just how long she'd been gone for.

Khuluma was climbing back up the tree, testing the branches by pushing with his front paws before scaling his way up, wings out to balance as he moved. "Maybe..." But where would he look? The world was wide and there were many creatures in it. Where did he, a parentless god, belong?
When the cub showed concern, he looked out to the horizon. Home. It sounded like such a sweet word.
"You shouldn't have her worry. You should take care of her as much as she takes care of you." And making a parent worry was both something he desired yet wasn't to sure he knew what it felt like. To make someone worry about you. Again, it sounded nice to be on someone's mind.
"It was nice meeting you, little mortal. I learned a bit from you. Thank you." He rose up to a higher branch. "If the years don't pass you, maybe I'll see you again when you have your own little family." Mortals lived such short lives after all. He opened his wings out wide as he tested the wind. With a few quick flaps, he left the tree and rose up into the clouds.

"Yeah...I probably should go." Looking content, Latifu's eyes followed the young god as he climbed the tree, still fascinated by his every movement. She kind of wondered what it'd be like, to have wings like a bird that could take you just about anywhere you wanted to go. But Latifu would use her own paws to do that, since she was obviously lacking wings.
"Ah! It was just wonderful meeting you, Khuluma." Still remembering his name, Latifu was glad he introduced himself. Sometimes others never mentioned their names, and any meeting with them seemed to fade into the background. And that was the last thing Latifu wanted with this; it had really been an experience, even though it was just the two of them talking for a short period of time.
Ah, hearing him talk about her being grown and having a family was a little odd for the cub. Part of her was really excited about growing up, but then thinking that one day, she'd be long gone and he'd still be roaming the world made her feel a little empty inside. Would he still be lonely then? Or would she just be a faded memory to him? It was a little daunting, thinking about the future like that, so Latifu gave her head a good shake to knock all of those thoughts away. The future was pretty far-off, anyway, right?
"I really do hope you find your own happiness." She left him with those words as parting, turning to bound back towards her mother after watching him soar up towards the sky.
