((The throw was actually low and to left of my character, you're guy's right, but oh well I'll roll with it.))

He watched carefully what his opponent did, noticing his ability and agility. “Either he was just playing stupid or he’s good at recovering...like with medicine. Oh gods that was a horrible joke.” “Spare me such torment,” his Zanpakuto told him honestly. He stepped to the left and then back to the right somewhat impatiently while he waited for Kasen to be ready again. At his words, William smiled, “If you must know, I simply find getting somewhere to be an unnecessary hassle, even in conversation. When I feel up to it, I might do something about it.” He watched carefully while Kasen reached into his outfit. “He can’t be getting his swords out; one’s at his hip, and the other’s on the ground over there.” “Maybe you made him itchy by throwing him like that,” Hantoresu suggested as a possibility. “Don’t be ridiculous,” he thought with a chuckle.

Finally, Kasen’s hand came back out with something. William looked quizzically at the item which Kasen placed into his sleeve. “I really hope that’s just some kind of luck-bringer instead of some sort of cheap trick for when I might have you in a tight spot.” His feet shifted uneasily while he remembered his fight with Charles. “Those things were painful,” both he and his Zanpakuto clearly remembered while he cautiously approached Kasen. He couldn't help but smile at Kasen’s second comment though, “Anyone who would have seen that mistake, would have thought the same. But if you were merely trying to lure me into a false sense of security, then you should think again. One of the first rules of combat: never underestimate your enemy.” He shifted to a more aggressive stance and made a quick distraction jab with his left before swinging with slightly more power on his right. Each hand traded the roll of blocking with one another when the opposite hand swung. He didn’t like making the first move; however, he had no choice given that his current opponent seemed more of an evasive type.

"I say you underestimated me, yet you're claiming I underestimate you." Kasen said as he remained cautious as William was coming closer as he anticipated a strike coming soon. Kasen attempted to counter the first jab until he realized it was a fake as he ignored the first jab as he knew William used fake strikes in his jabs as he brought his arms up to block William's second strike as he jumped back looking at William as he studied his opponent even more. Baring his hands a bit, Kasen ran forward at William with a swift pace as he aimed for for William's left side with his left hand out to possibly strike at the side. However, Kasen instead moved towards the back of of William as he jumped upwards as he landed on a platform he created when he was taught shunpo, jumping higher up as he brought his feet up as he tried a dropkick at William's head.

William sighed at Kasen’s words, “I was merely making observations based on your fighting style. I wouldn’t drop my guard after only throwing you once; that would be stupid on my part. And I never said that you’re underestimating me; it’s a basic rule to never underestimate an opponent. If it sounded like I was implying that, then I’ll try and work on my Japanese more.” His distraction jab had not worked as expected, and his second hit had been blocked before the blocker jumped back. His opponent’s sudden burst forward after barely landing gave him little time to flex his muscles. Kasen got closer and closer until William knew he was going to try and strike him on the left. “Too easy,” he muttered to himself while his left hand went into position to block and his right to strike.

He had indeed been expecting a strike, but when Kasen jumped into the air before he was too close, William was thrown off-balance. Once again his eyes could follow his opponent, but his body could not keep up. “Not again,” he complained before he felt something hard make contact with the back of his head. He was sent to the floor, his vision fading in and out while he tried to recover. He shook his head a few times to clear the blackness that had taken up most of his vision. “You guys should rename to Grasshoppers…nhhg…instead of Death Gods; you jump around too much.” He carefully got up, hoping his opponent would at least allow him to recover from the foul trick. “The problem I have…” he said before holding his head to steady the shaking world, “is that I can’t truly gauge my opponents due to lack of limiting factors in physics and biology. Despite my former prowess in combat in the Real World, I’m at the bottom of the food chain because I don’t know how such things like walking on air work.”

((Also, I thought you couldn’t use Hoho to stand on air in Seireitei because of the Sekiseki stone. You could only use Flash Step apparently, I think there was a debate about this somewhere in this guild.))

((That debate has been rendered inconclusive, so there hasn't been a decision made against those abilities))

Kasen dropped to the ground after pushing off William as he looked at William as he waited for his opponent to regain his stature. "You remind me of so many people in this squad... You joke without a care." Kasen said as he thought of the annoying, yet happy Maikeru who he liked. "You analyze your opponent..." He thought of Jutaku who likes writing down his allies as if they were study subjects. "And, you believe that you are at the bottom, yet you must look up high enough to realize that through these obstacles you can achieve something great, by simple overcoming them." Kasen said as he looked upwards at the sky to see an image of his old friend until he returned his gaze at William as he cracked his knuckles a bit as he turned around and moved forward a few steps until he was a few more feet away as he turned around once more to look at his opponent.

"Shall we end these warm-ups?" Kasen asked as he looked at William as he wondered what were his abilities in other areas as hand-to-hand was only one aspect of being a Shinigami. "If you truly rely on hand-to-hand, then you're in the wrong squad cause we are the Tenth Division, under Captain Hinata, we are elementalists by nature..." Kasen said as he looked at William who he remembered something odd when about his opponent. "I believe you're different from us, rumors have it you don't have a complete human form." Kasen said as he thought someone like William couldn't have an exception to the ruling as he thought that would be odd, but possible.

Slowly his vision returned to normal while he listened to Kasen speak of how he was similar to other people in the squad. “His words have wisdom,” Hantoresu reassured within William’s mind. “Underestimating him might be a grave mistake.” He tested his muscle responses to see if they had also suffered from the blow; however, upon inspection they did not show any signs of flaw in coordination with what he wanted. A flower petal floated by his face, and with a practiced hand he caught it. He thought about Kasen’s words of wisdom concerning his current position. “Just like this flower, I am starting from the bottom. The only way is up.” A dark blue spark jumped up his arm from his Zanpakuto while energy filled him like in his fight with Charles. “Should I?” Hantoresu asked him, but he shook his head. “No, besides the fact that it is painful, I do not want to try that again.” He turned his attention back to his opponent and mentally prepared for a more strenuous fight.

“I did not choose this squad; it chose me. Oh, and I already told you that you didn’t have to put away your sword. I can fight you when you have it as well. As for the element, I’m not quite sure, but I think I have lightning. In my last fight, I saw sparks all over my body when I had a lot of unusual energy—Reiatsu ready for use.” Kasen’s information about his second form surprised him. “I only very recently found out that I have a second form, and even more recently learned how to change into it. Currently I’m trying to find a way to better control the change, for it can happen at any given time.” He paused from his short explanation, reassuring even himself that it had been true. “Your method of isolation does not hold though. I mean, each and every person is different in one way or another. If one is simply more physically different, that doesn’t necessarily make them an outsider. On the contrary, I seem to be more similar to this squad than you might think, despite my physical change upon sneezing; you yourself to me that I was similar to two other squadmates.” He chuckled at his somewhat defensive tones. “Forgive me; I simply thought you might have been singling me out as an outsider. If we are to fight, then please don’t overestimate me by pulling out something of a much higher power level like your Shikai. I might still be able to fight you, but even then you would likely be faster. You would definitely be more powerful, that much I know.” "You talk too much," Hantoresu said with a yawn.

Kasen chuckled a bit as he took out a different playing card as it was his weakest card as he held it up for William to see. "Well, before we resume, I would like to show you something..." Kasen said as he remembered this technique was a gift, and that he must always remember that as he crushed the card in his hand, however it glowed a dark violet as it crumbled. Throwing it to the ground, it evaporated with a small explosion as fog began surrounding Kasen as he preferred the darkness to use this as he began shivering as his body began to shift a bit as the fog covered any available sight. Kasen growled as he canine teeth began to grow as his eyes began to glow for a while as his reiatsu intensified for a moment. His nails extended as fur began to grow from his body as his chest shifted from his shihakusho's black threading to a strange torso of green fur as Kasen sprung a tail from his lower spine as his feet shattered his tabi and sandals as they became lower paws. Kasen's eyes changed from violet to green as Kasen stepped out of the fog to reveal his face, a face of a wolf as Kasen growled at William as he stepped back into the fog to become a silhouette once more as Kasen waved claw to disperse of his fog. As the fog vanished into nothing, Kasen stood there as he was before with all his clothing intact and all his humanly features well as if nothing had happen to him.

"Now, wasn't that fun?" Kasen asked with a small grin as he unsheathed the katana behind him as he let the katana's blade glimmer in the light for a moment. "Let me tell you now, my zanpakuto's elements are of darkness and fire. I am heir to the title of Black Flame Werewolf.. Make no mistake, I will punish those I see as a threat to this squad..." Kasen said as he released his reiatsu, though it wasn't it was limited as Kasen made sure he didn't disturb the area with his spiritual pressure, however this was a show of his power without his zanpakuto as he sliced the air for a moment with his blade as his spiritual pressure subside. "Let us begin." Kasen said as grabbed his sheath from his back and held it firmly in his left hand as his resolve was clear.

“Well let’s see it,” William said with interest while he patiently waited for what Kasen wanted to show him. He watched carefully while his opponent crushed the card in his hand, “Just like the other one. Trick cards.” The fog took over where Kasen had been standing while he heard the stretching of tabi and sandals. “What’s going on in there,” he asked Hantoresu who had as little of an idea as he did. Suddenly the snout closely followed by the rest of the head of a werewolf poked out of the fog. His eyes widened at the feral appearance, and he felt a slight change in something around him. A smile crossed his face while he thought of the implications, “Maybe he can help me with the transformations.” The head disappeared back into the fog for a few more seconds before it dispersed to reveal Kasen in human form. “Neat trick. All I can do is sneeze to become a leopard. Nevertheless, I think I’m in the right squad.”

His Zanpakuto slid down his arm to lock into place with his fists in anticipation of what was to come. “The werewolf part I got, and the darkness thing was a long-shot guess because of the fog, but I haven’t seen any fire yet, heh. No need to show me either!” he quickly said to keep his opponent from showing off more. Like a subtle shockwave, William felt a pressure on his chest that wasn’t normal. He subconsciously gripped at the pendant of a crescent moon around his neck. “What is this?” he asked himself. “Stand up straight, and it will vanish,” Hantoresu ordered. He did as was told and indeed the pressure ebbed until it was only in the corner of his mind; at the same time a dark blue spark jumped up both his arms for a split second. William jumped around lightly on the balls of his feet while he warmed them back up from standing still for so long. “Yes let’s.” He shifted stances while he walked up to Kasen; he would have to block with the swords on his arm. His strikes would have to be through his defense, so he would have to focus on pinning the sword. From the way Kasen insisted on holding the sheath of his sword he deduced that it was just as much of a weapon as the weapon it sheltered.

Kasen looked at William as he commented on belonging to this squad, however he will always have the idea that his squad was of wolves, and thats how he will believe it for now as he kept a close eye on William and his movements. Noticing the small spark, he wondered what he had in mind as sparks coming out of nowhere without any sort of release of power was odd, as he listened to William's words as he replied. "Fire belongs to my zanpakuto, and she's not in the mood for showing off." Kasen said as he raised his katana and sheath as William came closer as the gap between was closing as Kasen slashed at William with his sheath as it was a distraction as Kasen slashed horizontally at William's waist as he kept his left foot back with his right foot forward to push off against William if he decided to block his attack.

William's arms went into a defensive mode, knocking away the sheath while blocking the blade from getting closer to his body. Kasen had been preparing to push off him if he had blocked, so he did the same, retreating back a few steps to contemplate how to fight his enemy. Clearly he had the advantage of distance, but maybe that advantage could be turned around to a disadvantage. He carefully awaited his opponent's next moves.

((Roleplaying in a fight is rather difficult unless your character relishes in fighting.))

Kasen watched as William avoided his strike as he gave a small nod and smile as he looked at William who was awaiting as the battle must continue. Raising both the sheath and blade, Kasen changed the sheath's position into reverse as he sheathed his blade, however the sheath failed to snap to the guard as Kasen let the blade unsheathed improperly as he raised his blade outward while keeping his left arm in as the sheath glimmered in the light for a moment. Focusing his reiatsu into his left hand, Kasen slashed downward as he released the sheath at William with its metal tipped end coming for William as Kasen raised his left palm at the sheath's opening. "Hadō #1, Shō!" Kasen chanted as he released a burst of spiritual energy at the sheath as it was pushed farther increasing its speed as it came for William to thrust into his body. However, Kasen wasn't going to let this momentary distraction go to waste as Kasen ran behind his sheath a few feet as the speed between the two differed as Kasen kept his blade outward and down as he ran.

William looked on in curiosity at what Kasen did, for he had never seen it done before. "He's using the sheath as a projecti-woaw!" he thought and almost exclaimed when he watched the sheath accelerate at him with even more speed. "Got to time this right," he thought while he prepared his hands. The sheath was but two meters away before he swung down with his left arm, knocking the sheath vertical. His right had already moved into position and had stopped the top from spinning. The sheath then stood at a vertical angle against his arms before falling. In it's fall, William snatched the sheath out of the air only to see Kasen charging him down. "A distraction? Geez, I really shouldn't underestimate him." He held the sheath in a defensive position and waited for Kasen to come closer.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 24, 2010 6:48 pm

The gap between the two were closing as Kasen caught sight of William's catch of his sheath, and it appears he dared to attempt the use of Kasen's own sheath against him. Kasen dragged his blade downward as he ran towards William with quick speed as he jumped forward as he was close enough to strike. Dust clouds rose from the ground as Kasen dragged his blade for this purpose and created this to hide the two as Kasen was still in the air for the attack as he raised both his feet to strike at William's chest as Kasen slashed downward with his blade in hand at William's left shoulder as Kasen struck.

((Currently in a real writer's slump. All of my current writing projects just ground to a halt, so this is definitely not the only one. Gonna go read some books and watch some more movies to try and get my inspiration back. Sorry if this was somewhat late, but I would stare at the web-page and seriously contemplate even what to write in here. If it's alright with you, I'd like to put this fight on hold for a week maybe three.))
