Jaci just finished her portion of fish. She didn't really know a whole lot about mothers. She couldn't remember ever having one. For the most part she had nothing to do with adults in general, especially parents. Their company was fine, but it was when they insisted on treating her like a child that she got fed up and disappeared.
Food finished, Jaci stretched her body out, then settled down to groom herself a bit. A nap sounded good right now, it would give the fish time to digest and restore some energy for her to go swimming against. She yawned a little, and stalked over to a soft patch of grass to curl up.
((I figure they could have been sleeping for a bit, since that's what Horus was doing before Jaci needed help with the fish. 'Seph can wake them up lol))

Persephone looked over the rock at the river below. She had gotten away from dad because he was being all clingy again and staying behind would have earned her a shredded brother. She was still going to kill him for coming up with that stupid nickname. Maybe she would have liked it if it had come from a friend but.... ugh she just didnt like little brothers. Of course in her musing she leaned a little too far and went careening into the river below quickly getting carried off by the rapids.
Horus yawned and realized he had somehow fallen asleep. As he shook off the last remnants he wondered just exactly had caused him to fall asleep. Suddenly little yips and lots of splashing caught his attention and he stared as a blue faded to red lightning colored kit struggled to pull herself out of the water. With out a second thought he launched himself in after her.

Jaci was slower to wake and react than Horus. She was only just beginning to grasp what was going on when Horus jumped into the river. She took off, sprinting along the riverbank and following the red and black fox. She wasn't very fast by most standards, but she was able to keep up with the bobbing adult.
That's how she was able to spot the smaller bundle of fur being tossed around the waves. Tch, the kit didn't even seem to have much of the basic of swimming down. There was a large rock on the shore, six feet ahead of her. It jutted out a few feet into the river. A perfect launch spot!
Jaci flung herself into the air and managed to land fairly close. Not a bad jump at all. She wasn't sure what kind of swimmer Horus was, and hadn't really even been looking to see how close he could have been.

Persephone took another gasp of air before being dragged down again. She had only a small gasp of swimming having only been in the water once since her birth not too long ago, except for every time she was able to edge near the bank a strong rapid current carried her off and back under water. However after a few minutes of this Persephone was getting scared and tired.

Jaci took a deep breath and disappeared under the water. She held her front paws close to her body and let her back ones drift out behind her. The current propelled her, so all she had to do was steer. A difficult task as it was.
Under the water she could barely spot the kit at the surface. She started moving upwards to reach the kit, when black paws and a red rump passed over head. Jaci let a few bubbles escape her mouth, then darted up to the top.
She broke surface and sucked in air. "Heru, just to your right! Grab it!" Jaci didn't have time to shout much more before the water pulled her back under. She relaxed her body until the water quit pulling, the headed back to the surface for air.

Heru would have nodded if he was on land but as it was he was busy at the hand at task saving the small kit. She seemed to be rather smaller, smaller even than Jaci was and so it was rather hard to catch her. Finally he was able to grab the kit by the back of the neck and drag her back onto dry land. He could swore he saw little swirls of dizziness in the poor kits eyes. As he looked her over no damage seemed to be done to the girl... evidence by the tail she sported.
"dafalkjev.... thank you mister" Persephone muttered watching as the world spun around a bit. No more whirlpools for her and first thing she was going to do was get Dad or Daddy to teach her how to swim.

Jaci popped on shore just a few feet away. She shook all the water off, then loped over to the other two. "Wow, you can't swim at a~l~l," she comented the instant she got in hearing range. No 'Are you alright' or 'Great job Heru'. Nope, straight for a remark about the little girl's swimming skills.

"Hey listen here misses... I am only a few weeks old I mean I'm a whole foot smaller than you are. I haven't had the time to learn how to swim. Its not my fault the stupid rock was covered with moss." Persephone glared. "after all dad said it wasn't time to learn how to swim. I needed to get wings first."
Horus watched the two girls interact with a raised eyebrow. He had learned long ago not to get in between. Although now that she had mentioned wings he could see the little nubs on her back that would eventually grow into wings. This of course raised another eyebrow. After all he didnt think he had ever seen this young of a phim.

Jaci snorted. "Wings?! Great big bags of useless feather attached to your back!? If you had wings you'd have sunk a whooooole lot quicker! And even if me or Heru got to you in the water, you might have drowned by then!"
Jaci looked the small kit up and down, measuringly. "I'm gonna teach you how to properly swim!" She put her front feet together and plonked her bottom down in a way to empathsize the finalness of her words. In an adult it would have been quite the regal pose. For Jaci it just looked............cute.

"pfft all sort of birds swim with wings... you just need to know how." Persephone growled glaring at the blue multi-colored creature. "swim... alright then... teach me"
Heru rolled his eyes and sat back down on the ground, between the two of them they were making him feel like a giant. He wondered if the little ones parent would show up any time soon. he was not looking forward to a slightly angry and worried full grown phim.

Jaci kept herself from rolling her eyes a little. Birds that could swim, yea right! But she took her offer seriously, and was pleased the kit accepted.
"Alright, follow me! We want you to learn swimming, not drowning." She glanced at the fast-flowing water, the got up and trotted off. There was a spot, not far from where she and Horus originally started, that was very calm and with a weak current.
Speaking of Horus, Jaci looked back. "Ya coming, Heru? There are some fish we can catch for food, and you can keep the big ones from eating.......-" Jaci frowned, and looked at the kit. "Wha's your name, anyway?"

Persephone tightened her glare. She just knew the kit before her didnt take her seriously about the birds. Well she would learn how to swim and then when her wings came in she'd watch all those things dad called seagulls and re learn how to swim again and come back and show her new friend. "I'm persephone"
(( lol thats persephone for you yelling at the person but already deciding their her friend))
"yeah sure I'll come Persephone is rather small" Horus chuckled. "Phims can get alittle dangerous when family members have disappeared and they're rather impressive in size" Horus pointed out.
"I'll grow up and be bigger than you by a whole foot" persephone growled shifting her attention towards Horus. She blamed her sudden outbusts on the fact she was a middle child.

((You know in animes when a character takes a major hit to their ego, the sound and body language. Imagine that on Jaci right now XD ))
Jaci silently fumed in the front. It wasn't fair, that she always had to be little!! She'd show them! Why, she'd *edits for graphic thoughts, temper temper Jaci >.>*. And that would show them!!!
It didn't take too long to get to the spot Jaci had in mind. It was like a mini pond, where the water pooled into a large circle before flowing off to join the faster river. The water that fed into pond-like section was fairly slow and steady, and Jaci chose a spot nearer there to start.
"Alright, let's see you try to swim in slow water!"
((I apologize for her mini violent thought >.> Apparently Jaci and Rage met inside my head, and Rage takes a personal interest in Jaci's height and permakitness issues sweatdrop She'll grow out of it eventually though, once she finds Acceptance XD))

"Ah I'm sorry if I seemed to have offended you. I think you do a fine job of what you were given with." Horus stated having guessed at what was troubling the larger of the kits. He had started to get the feeling he was dealing with a permakit. A rather cruel twist of nature that would deny Jaci the privilege of growing up physically.
"yeah dont worry about it dad is huge... he said something about being four feet bigger than me and he said since he's a guy he's still going to be taller.Same with my brothers they get to be taller than me too" Persephone pipped up going along with the theme Horus had going. As they arrived on the spot Persephone waded out and did her own version of the dog paddle happily swimming about not carrying that a second ago she almost drowned. "Some people are big and...and some people arent as big... but that doesnt mean they arent just as special as the big people. Because I'm smaller I'm more agile than my brothers ^_^" she continued.

Slightly mollified, Jaci turned her attention to Persephone. She frowned a little. "Not bad if you're swimming in still water. Can you swim underwater?" She paddled out and briefly disappeared under the surface herself, watching Persephone's feet and how they moved to get a better feel for how the kit swam.
