~About Me~ heart Hai! I'll never give out my real name so call me Eclipse. I'm 11 years old, and a musician. I live in South Beach (Florida, yes) and have performed on Ocean Drive, been on the radio (last nite razz ) and go to an art school. I am very imaginative. The best way to describe me is to go to my profile and check out my bio. I love drawing anime (I will see if I can scan some on here, not sure tho, since it slows my comp. down a lot). I hope to have fun here, and meet all of you, well, because I just joined today. Um everyone is saying their opinion on Twilight? I personally dont like it. I LOVE reading fiction, and for my age I have read more books than any other girl, no joke.

I suppose I shall add to this. My name is Tal, I am 23. I work in the gaming industry, currently working with a design and marketting team developing 3d models for videos and some ingame items. I also am working on a comic that will be released for a game. I am mostly a 3D modeller, flash game developer and digital arts. To add to the previous posts, and the discussion on Twillight. I am not a fan of poorly written and poorly edited work. Nor do I like blan characters. I will critique peoples work upon a request, though I will be blunt, which sometimes upsets people. I do give as much advise and ideas on how to improve though. My biggest focus is line quality and porportions. This is my Deviantart. I do have things on it, but nothing that is official work for my job.

Very cool to see an artist actually find a place in the art world. I've always wondered, how many models do you have to make for a game, and what makes a game model good? And you can be blunt with my art, and i'm sure your going to be pointing out my lines, because i'm a sketcher all the way - no solid smooth lines for me.

I started on the marketting team and ended up being moved over to the design team. How many models? Well it depends on the game entirely. I know for one level that I worked on a team with for a FPS game, we made a good... 40 models, not including the character and gun models. Those were all just props. What makes a good model? Hm... I suppose one that has no faces with more than 4 edges (square polys), one that looks nice, but isn't too high poly, one that is properly UV mapped, one with a nice flow. You can be a sketcher and have smooth lines. It takes a lot of practice and learning to control the way you move your hand/arm. Try drawing with your elbow instead of your writst. If you move your entire arm instead having the restriction of only your writs movements, you'll be able to make a lot smoother pictures. When I was in school, they;d get upset with us if we drew with a lot of "chicken scratches," so they were always pushing the drawing with your whole arm thing. Even still I use that when I'm drawing on my cintiq.

Geeze, that's a lot of work just for one level. That's some really good advice. I'll try that. (Also thanks for making the page with all the tutorials, it's awesome.

Making games take a lot of work, especially when they're large scaled ones. We had a group of 4 and it took us 8 months to make one level, preproduction and all. I'm slowly working on the tutorial page, I shall have more up soon. Just got busy for a few. x_X

Hidden Affection Geeze, now i know what i'm NOT getting into. Why not? It's really great if you're really passionate about it. Seriously, some of the best times I've had was staying up late in the computer lab with my team working on models, placing them, putting them in the level and blowing the crap out of them in play testing. biggrin Some of the greatest people I've met have been from the gaming industry.

The reason why im a quick sketcher is because i dont like spending much time on one project for long. I like to be done with it in like twenty minute maximum on average. So that would probably drive me bonkers. - that's also the reason why i could never go into animation.

Right now I don't like spending more than a few hours on something. I'm such a multitasker. I have about 8 different projects or pieces going on at once just so I can get through them. Animation is a lot of fun though, seeing your creations come to live. I prefer game development over it, as nothing beats the play testing.
