I agree. It's soooo stinkin terrible!!! I knew that something was going to be wrong when Geneon liscensed it. Jus the thought of it bothered me all through class. I had bought the movie and reload yesterday. Now I dunno if I want to see the rest of reload or just sell the dvd for a refund or trade or something. It sucks big time.....I wish they put the original voices back in it. *sigh* It's like their not even trying at all. crying

Kaijima xBakaTulipx crying sad... I liked the voice actors... why go and change 'em? I know! After I listened to the commentary on the Requiem and realized that those guys are cool evenwhen they're not Sanzo, Hakkai, Goku or Gojyo I got really sad about the voices going to change. cry I think geneon is just trying to get some money. At this rate, no one will want to buy the reload dvd's at all. I'd rather sell back the dvd and wait for E's Otherwise to come out. Grr... and the anime looked so cool too. I'm stickin with saiyuki and saiyuki the movie.

I know, I can't stand it at all. The way Geneon did that, it's just wrong. I don't think it was bad, just different. The only reason it's that big of a deal to begin with is that the original cast was great, and you're already used to them. Don't get me wrong, I mourn the loss of the amazing dub from season 1 and 2 (Greg, Illich, Braden and David will be sorely missed), but as a fan, I'm going to roll with it (hell, if ANY company is going to do a good dub outside of ADV, it's Geneon). Their only crime is not being what you're acustomed to. Try to give them a chance, or watch it subtitled. There is no reason not to buy the domestic discs (seeing as any real fan would want to support the series like they're supposed to. Buying HK bootlegs or DLing it is the WORST thing you could do).

To me, the ADV voice actors just fit so well with the characters. I saw Reload yesterday........ its definitely different and I liked the ADV voice cast more. Geneon is second best when it comes to dubs, I like them and all, but I wish they would've let ADV continue to put out Saiyuki. neutral Oh well I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles I suppose.

wtf! I recently watch RELOAD with the new dubbing (ok, rephrase that, tried to. In the end i concluded that subbed is the best solution) The new voices are crap. Goku's voice sounds like he is 13yrs old brat... Gojyo's sounds like a street punk (what happen to my sexy voiced lover?) Hakkai's sounds like a child molester (no sweet sorrowful voice and less sarcasum) Sanzo (wah!) sounds like a stuffy monotone professor with a cheese-chetto up his bum. I knew this would happen when they change company, but i didnt realize it would be this bad.
They even cheated us out of posters. The main menu looks like it was done in paint under low resolution. and no cultural notes! (Those bastards!) the did leave in the Theaters at the end. My friend has the bootls from Hong Kong.. the subs are bad, but at least they gave the fans pretty art.
I give the new VA casting a D/C- and the director a D for messing with the script and jokes. Thank the gods that they still have the Japanese track. sweatdrop That would be the only reason to by it.

Good lordes! Okay...if I were to grade the vocal casting for Genon--this'd be it:
-Sanzo = B- man, I missed it when he sounded cool and slick gonk but at least he was trying...well sorta. -Goku = C+ DUDE! WTF MAN?! T^T His voice totally doesn't fit his personality at all! scream ADV actually made him sound like a food crazy/crazy teen where as Genon made him sound like a whiny brat and less effort in the food crazy department stressed -Hakkai = B+ okay...well, does share the same VA as Fayt Leingod sooo~I'll give him that. Actually...his voice was okay--a little too nerdy but okay. -Gojyo = B....=_=; I totally missed it when Illich did his voice gonk But I guess the VA did try his best to keep Gojyo's character--just that, ARGH it's too smooth and I got headaches from listening to it!
If you guys think that I hated the new casting--well, to tell the truth, it was THAT bad I mean...just as Kenji_Salk said--well I'd enter in his whole post but *is lazy*. All you gotta do is get used to it...I mean, didn't you all flip when you watched the Gensoumaden series for the first time? I know I did--but I saw it two years ago in my anime club--well, just the 1st episode and I sure did flip when I saw it dubbed. Though, with each passing episode, I was starting to get used to the voices to the point where I just simply loved 'em.
So, I guess it takes time to get used to and eventually you'll be enjoying dubbed Saiyuki Reload as well and if not...well, there's always the Japanese language audio with english subtitles option. wink By the way.... crying I'm gonna miss the ADV actors! gonk Especially Kevin Corn 'cause he did kouryuu's voice & Kevin's my favorite VA in ADV!!!! crying

Very simple reason why: contract obligations. More than likely, The gensomaden VAs probablly have a contract of some sorts with ADV, so they couldn't have done the voices even if they wanted to. Plus there's also the fact that ADV is based out of Texas and Geneon is based out of Iowa, so that makes it kind of hard (and expensive!!!) to travel for work. The sad fact is that even though lots of us watch anime, not enough people buy it for the companies to make a ton of money and afford all the things the fans want.

Hey hey now, it's not about the characters we're mourning here--it's the VAs!
*makes a memorial to the VAs of Gensoumaden Saiyuki--flowers and all--and weeps her eyes out, kneeling next to it* crying I wish I could mail Genon my VA grading/critique to them...*see previous post before this one*
