Naynram Ukir
Interesting. My mom actually has this as her home page. She heard of it through this one radio program Coast To Coast AM I think.

That's actually where I heard about this first.

Anyway today i was listening to yesterday's episode of Democracy Now! with amy goodman(i listen to a TON of podcasts, feel free to link me to some good ones ;3 ) and a couple things covered:
http://www.democracynow.org/2010/10/19/headlines#12

Obama Admin Seeks Changes to Telecom Surveillance LawsThe New York Times reports the Obama administration plans to ask Congress next year to approve legislation that requires phone and broadband carriers to ensure that their networks can be wiretapped by the government. A similar law is already on the books, but officials say it has not prevented some of the nation’s major telecommunications companies from making network changes that disrupt the government’s ability to conduct wiretaps.

Facebook Admits Major Breach of PrivacyIn other technology news, the Wall Street Journal has revealed Facebook users are inadvertently providing access to their names and in some cases even their friend’s names to advertising and internet tracking companies. The issue affects tens of millions of Facebook app users, including people who set their profiles to Facebook’s strictest privacy settings.

Quote:
Anindya Ghose, associate professor at New York University: "The average person should be aware of what is going on, just in general, because whatever you post online, if there is a digital trail, that’s going to be recorded, you know, for keeps. It’s going to stay there forever. So I think the average person should know that whatever information they release on Facebook, that’s going to be available to somebody or the other at any point in time."

This has been creepin me out for some time. (not that I have much to hide~) I'd love to stay 'invisible' on the internet...

Has anyone done research on the companies that run the supposed 'anonomous surfing' sites? cuzzzz if I were the government.... it would be the people TRYING to hide their stuff that I'd want to watch~

my mom actually called me up the day I deleted access to my pictures and info on facebook and asked if I did it because someone was stalking me or if something else was wrong. It was kinda sad she was completely oblivious to my reasons.. ><

If the government wants to find out something about you they can. Surfing anonymously just keeps all the websites out there from tracking you. This isn't going to help you if you intend to use it for illegal activity.

I now use http://duckduckgo.com and TOR.
http://www.torproject.org/
Everyone should look into using Tor the onion network.
I use it for everything now, except I can't watch videos on it -_-
