"Not having...?" She seemed a little put off by his comment, he had no lovely collectibles to trade for, which made him suddenly a little bit less interesting to her. But he was still knowing something she didn't, so she hadn't lost all interest in him. Her tail brushed the air as he began to speak again.
"This one can be helping, yes~ Can be helping, manymuch helping to be getting. Can be stealing?" She grew quiet for a moment, as if weighing his words and deciding how to respond.
"Not being stealing, usually~ Fish trading fair-like, all fair... But you are wanting her to be stealing?" She tilted her head to one side and leaned slightly nearer to him, inhaling his scent. What was he aiming at? Was he trying to trap her?

"Right," he said, and debated once more how to explain this so that the offer would make sense to her -- and be appealing. "See...I have a friend. And he and I, we have a problem with some...groups of wolves." He hesitated to use the word pack, sensing it might be a bit intimidating for a lone wolf in her status. "Groups of wolves that are greedy, and don't deserve what they have. So we want to take things -- shinies -- from them."
He glanced around, as though casting about for inspiration. "I think you'd be very good at helping us, if you wanted," he said, an that was perhaps a bit of a stretch -- after all, he'd never actually seen any of her treasures, for all he knew they were mouse droppings -- but he thought the compliment might bolster her confidence and make her more eager to join. "And that way, you'd always have something to eat. Lots of fish. We could help you catch them, if you can help us get....shiny things."

"Having problems? Fish helping?" She squinted her eyes, as if she was trying to look harder, deeper within him, but couldn't quite see what she wanted. His words were odd to her, but she could still follow. Something about groups, that was confusing, but she understood well enough that he and his friend wanted shinies... And were asking her for help? She could help. She often skirted around the edges of packs, seeking refuge and food for her own stories. She could trick them, perhaps. She could help.
"Fish Eater is helping, you are giving fish? And giving some shinies? She can keep some shinies?" She squinted yet again, as if expecting some sort of lie or sudden change in plans, but he seemed promising enough.

"Of course. Fish and shinies," he agreed, nodding and giving his sincerest smile. "You'd like that?"

Her eyes shone with an eager delight as Kai seemingly agreed to her terms. Her tail wagged and she shook her beads with joy, obviously excited. Soon she would have all the fish she wanted, and shinies, too! She could hardly wait to get moving, but a snarl in her gut reminded her that she was still hungry.
"Where it being? This place with the thieving? Are we going now? Going~Going~Going?" She settled on her stomach, and began gnawing contently on her fish. Feather settled next to her and snapped at slivers between her bites.

"It's a ways on up the river," he said, with a smile, satisfied with his work. Then, mostly to himself, he added, "Although we might want to wander a bit far from the river, for parts of it...it goes through some land that isn't so friendly." His nose wrinkled, and then he shrugged, brightening up. "But it's not so far, now, and then we'll have our own river for all the fish you can eat."
He looked back at her, his sincerest smile still across his maw. "You want to come with me? You and your -- ah -- bird?" He glanced at Feather, then back at her. "I have a friend traveling with me, but she's very nice." Well, that might be a slight overstatement...he respected Monaeka very much, and she had saved his life, but 'nice' wasn't precisely the adjective he would have used for her. "And then we'll be there in just a few days."

"Ah, yessss, yes, that is being no good, bad territories are living there." She practically hissed through her teeth in agreement as Kai spoke to her about the path to what she would eventually call home. Or at least pretend like it was home, for hers would always be somewhat of a wanderer's nature. She would find permanent food and shelter there, when she needed it.
"Fish~ All this one can be eating, she is liking that, yes, she certainly is!" She chuckled, seemingly unfazed as he mentioned her bird and another traveling companion.
She quickly finished of her own fish and licked her maw contently.
"This one is ready to be going when you are."

"Well, alright then," he said, a bit surprised that she had consented to his plan -- but pleased with himself, as well. He would be bringing two new members into Verdauga's ranks, which was worth something he thought.
"Finish your fish. Then we'll be off."
He grinned, excited to see the look on Mon's face when he brought home this unlikely duo.
