Patroclus wasn't sure to be grateful or embarrassed as the two adults took their turn in doting love and attention on him. It honestly wasn't until Iosef started cleaning that Patroclus realized just how horribly dirty he was. Not that he minded of course, but who would have thought you could get so covered in everything after falling in a hole and then crawling out. Turning to looked at Iosef as the slave backed away. "Thank you." He said and then looked back to Seraphin.
The affection that Iosef showed toward the pup after he was freed from the hole melted her heart. To see him so tenderly washing the dirt from Patroclus' fur was a beautiful sight. And then he suddenly stopped and backed away. At first Seraphin wasn't sure why he had done so, but after she gave Patroclus a good look over to ensure there were no injuries that the pup hadn't told her about she understood. It wasn't Iosef's place in the pack to care for pups. Throwing Iosef a reassuring smile to told him she would not tell anyone of this, her attention turned back to Patroclus. "Look how messy you are. We had best get you cleaned up before we need to gather up your sisters."
She glanced up at Iosef again. "I really can't thank you enough for helping me." Then she paused for a moment, looking off towards the trees feeling oddly embarrassed before she could return her gaze to him. "But I think it's best that you return to your other duties now. Don't need to be getting into trouble on my account."

He smiled a bit shyly, now feeling exceedingly awkward. Caught up in the moment, he had totally neglected rank or hierarchy, and he could have died of shame on the spot. Except, well...she didn't seem to be angry at him at all. Quite the opposite, actually, and that kind of disoriented him a bit.
"It was nothing," he said, uncomfortably, and then, at her next words, nodded perhaps too enthusiastically. He should be getting back to work. And the first thing he would do, is find some dirt to fill this damn hole with.

Patroclus gave Seraphin a disappointed look. So what if he was dirty? Didn't it show that he had done something in his time away from his siblings instead of sitting around the den doing nothing. Heck he couldn't wait to see his sisters to tell them about the lizard and how he climbed a tree to get out of the hole. "I don't want to get clean." He mumbled, huffing slightly. But he would do as was told to him, because he had no other choice at this point.
"You're mother won't be too happy to see her son all covered in mud." She half scolded him, though honestly Seraphin couldn't make it sound like she was getting him in trouble, for she adored all the pups too much to do so. "Come along, we shall stop at the river and get you clean." Giving the pup a small nudge away from the hole, Seraphin glanced back at Iosef and gave him one last smile before following Patroclus. Best to leave Iosef to his work for now, but she did want to speak with him again in the future.
