OOC: I have been informed my post didn't have enough of an intro rolleyes Sigh, explaining things all at once isn't m style in posting, I just pop up and explain how I got there as I go along... sweatdrop

As Kiara quetioned her captive, she, the tethered horse, and her prisoner snapped to attetion as an eerie howl accompanied by a horse's scream split the air. The sounds of battle began to intensify, and Kiara spotted winged shapes over a nearby area of the forest. "I"m gonna go see what all's going on down there...You stay her and be quiet until I get back." With that, Kiara cast a silence spell over her captive, snatched up her own weapons, and ran towards the sounds of battle, hoping she might be of help. Judging by the distance, it was likely the trading caravan she had passed earlier. She crept through the trees as silently as she was able when she came close enough to make out the combatants. Well, they're shadowmen right? So light should hurt, or at least deter them lets see what I've got... She thought of the beings attacking the caravan.

A voice telepathically warned just long enough before a blinding blaze of light appeared, to enable the receivers of the message to do so. The light dimmed somewhat as a strangely garbed woman shot shining arrows at the shadowmen. Her aim was mostly poor, but as the Shadow men flinched as the bright bolts sear past their vision her efforts were not entirely useless. Hopefully it would be enough, for the young woman did not have the look of a warrior about her.

More help from unexpected quarters and enough of a distraction to give Krai a few more moments. The blinding light did not much hinder the Hengyokai, he had closed his eyes in time, but he'd also made a good mental note of where his enemies were. As the flash errupted he struck driving his rapier through the body of his first foe, only to yank it free and slash viciously at a second. Sen, who had closed his own eyes at a nonverbal comand of Krai's bit and lunged at the surrounding shadowmen. The very moment there was enough room the stallion bolted through the lines of the ambushers. Another howl, this one full and lingering sent his people back the way they had come, "Freinds, comrades! Come forth from the trees, this battle will not be finished tonight, but I would not have those who raise their voice and weapons with those of the hengyokai sleep ungaurded. Follow me!" Krai called behind him, wheeling his horse and waiting for his allies, even as the bandits regrouped.

Some of the bandits gave chase, a few sprinting almost fast enough to keep up with Krai's horse. But the shadow men seemed to have dissappeared, as if they'd never existed in the first place. Leaving Krai to greet his new allies, and see how many of his people had been hurt and his trade goods lost.

"Well, I'd like to stay and hang with you guys, but I have a slight problem of my own, and I think you would make more headway than I." She shruuged. "But I have forgotten my manners, I am Kiara Sabel." She inducted with a polite bow.

((I so don't see how it could be waiting on me at all but eh whatever...))

Eonis set herself down, her companions following her motions and bowed to the hyengokai and this new woman. "Under different circumstances I wish we had met Kiara Sabel, Hyengokai. I am Eonis Ladrinne Kare-"

"Lady." One of the others had added quickly.

"I, like miss Sabel also have something to which I must attend, but I shall accompany you for some time to make sure that you will not be attacked again, that is if you do not mind our company before we must leave you to yourselves."

((I wanted to see who WAS coming before continuing... you were in a tree before I think...))

Krai thought for a second and then exected a full bow in saddle, his stallion's head dropped at the same time without slowing his pace, "We of the Hengyokai were honored to have your timely intervention. Both of you are welcome by our fires and with our pack any time you wish it." He raised his head again to gaze at them for a few moments, "Are you certain you have not the time to join us? We will prepare dinner, and our cooks are swift, and their food excellent."

"I am honored by your offer and I shall take you up on your offer to stay the night by your fires and share in your meal, but first I must attend to gathering my own camp, so as not to leave my things to the elements." Kiara accepted with a bow. Then the young sorcerer turned and retraced her steps back to where she had left her mount and captive. She was startled to find the latter was not readily apparent, and the former reduced to ragged bones. Quickly Kiara began a search of the area only to be assaulted by a powerful attack from behind for the second time that day. A strong roughly furred arm encircled her neck and the rank breath of her attacker assailed her sense of smell. "Let me go.." Kiara managed to gurgle...

OOC: Finally I can post.

Miera Bonecrusher's day had not been a glamorous one. Her journey to find those who had destroyed her hideaway, and murdered her lovely infant daughters and clanspeople, was so far a fruitless quest. She was hungry and had not yet seen any game worth catching. It seemed her luck was about to change however when a lone human traveler wandered across her path. The woman was garbed in garish silks and rode a large tobiano destrier. Her saddlebags seemed rather full and she didn't seem to be very capable of retaliting from an attack. It had been too good to be true. The human was a sorcerer, and had bound the Hyaenjin woman fast and true with magery. The pitible human had dared to demand answers from Miera, and then silenced and abandoned her.

It had taken some doing for Miera to free herself. The rope which had been tied through magic was near impossible to unfasten. After several attempts, the hobbled Miera managed to reach the tethered horse, and after searching through the saddlebags, the Hyaenjin managed to procur a knife. It was awhile before she was able to extract it and still longer to actually saw through the tough rope, and she had many gouges to show for it. The first thing she did was rip apart the human's mount to feed herself. The horseflesh was firm and tasted to be a very well cared for steed, and was all the more delicious for the benefit.

She had scarce eaten her fill when she detected footsteps on the edge of her hearing. She slunk into the under brush and waited for her captor to return. She was delighted at the horror and shock which showed plainly on the human's face. Miera gloried in the feel of the pathetic human sorcerer's airway choking off as she tackled her prey. "Let go, now why would I do that?" Miera whispered savagely, pulling her grip tighter so the mage would be unable to utter any more pleas, as pleasant as they were to hear. After all it wouldn't do for the mage to utter any cantrips.

Kiara fumbled at her belt, as stars began to flare behind her eyes and blackness started to cloud her vision. Drawing her dagger, the sorcerer plunged the blade back into her attacker's side with as much force as she could muster. She felt the grip at her throat loosen and Kiara pulled away with her blade, breathing heavily as she gasped for air. "That is for killing my horse." She coughed hoarsely, and then uttered the spell of binding. Vines twined around the Hyaenjin's limbs this time. Kiara stumbled to the carcass of her mount, and searched through the gore to recover whatever was left of her belongings. She slung the meager bloodstained collection over one shoulder, and cast a spell of lightening over her captive and began her return to the Hengyoukai camp.

Krai and his people retraced their steps quickly and cautiously to a clearing they had passed earlier that day, it would not be the optimum place to set up camp, but due to the large rocks lining one side it would be easily defendable. With brisk precision his people located the spot and began preparing it, small stones and sticks were cleared away, tents were arranged and fires started. Within half an hour the pleasant smells of dinner began wafting to Krai's nose. The wolren leader stood at the edges of the encampment, taking his own turn at keeping watch while thinking over the events of the day. His reveries were interupted when a paricularly familiar rank stench drifted to him on a passing breeze. His eyes widened and his nostrils flared, a low snarl issued from his throat, alerting several of the other nearby gaurds. A few moments later there were five of them, peering into the darkness, eyes dialating to take in as much detail as possible, "Hyenjin..." Geshir, a tigren, snarled "There is horse blood..." Krai winced,... Hengyokai were rather attatched to their horses. "and..." Geshir sniffed carefully,
"Kiara..." Krai finished for him, a short cough-bark sent all of them rushing forward, the hoarse and ragged breathing reached their ears a moment later, "Kiara!" Krai announced in some alarm, "what?..." The wolren froze, lips pulling back in a snarl, and barely remembered to stop the rest of his men before they attacked the Hyenjin on sight. "What is going on?" He asked in a low voice, eyes locked on the Banished Hengyokai.
