Kyrenx Sonic-type? No. Just no. Now if a new type does emerge, I would love to see these offensive/defensive qualities for it:
Defensive Resistances: Dragon, Steel, Rock, Ground Defensive Weakness: Grass, Bug, Poison Offensively hits super effectively: Water, Dragon, Steel Offensively is resisted by: Grass, Bug, Poison
Such a type would completely rattle the metagame as we know it and would give the currently underused Poison and Grass-types something worthwhile to bring to a team. That of course is besides the fact that it would be the needed "Dark-type to Psychic-type" transition similar to what Generation 2 gave us to answer against the Psychic-type dominate Generation 1 Metagame. Took that straight from Smogon, now didn't you?

And you have to admit though, adding in such an unnamed type does balance out the current typing charts better. Perhaps it could work as the specifications for ??? type to become an actual elemental type. More or less saying "Shadow"-type (not to be confused with Dark-type or Ghost-type) without actually saying so. pirate

Hmm...The strongest forces cannot shake it, yet the smaller ones can pwn it...My thoughts exactly... ummm I guess sonic could do this? lol idc No how does Grass > Sonic?Ummmm carefully? Quote: The only idea of mine that fits is the Human type. Humans brave the elements, forge steel, tame dragons, etc. but get annoyed and scared of poisons and bugs and other grass critters. razz meh?

felinoel I think Shadow type was just for that one game? Shadow Pokemon were included in two games actually, and there was never a "Shadow-type". However, all the Shadow moves used in those games were technically typeless moves, and thus classified as the ???-type. I just think adding such an actual type into the games would be interesting. I mean, we already have moves such as Curse, Shadow Sky, Vacuum-Cut , Wide Slash and the classic, Shadow Rush and such a degree would make more sense than any thought of a Sonic-type or (the popularly speculated) Light-type.

That would be an interesting type. All it needs is a realistic name and a number of other moves to go with it. Let me think of a few names. Aside from "Shadow type", we have "Phantom type" (though that is probably covered by Ghost types), "Enigma Type", "Space/Spatial type" (Like Deoxys: Not of this world), "Human type" (Nitrox's idea)....and That's All I can come up with that doesn't have a connection to any already existing type. I can't think of a short word for "Manmade" or "Synthetic", although having that be super effective against water would be unrealistic (and it's place is largely taken by Steel types). Anyone else got good name ideas?

Kyo the III its too early to call for a new type of Pokemon. There hasn't been a new type since Johto. Johto was almost 10 years ago. (October 2000 for America. Over 10 years for Japan) There is no way that is too early. What would be too late?

making a new type would involve making another one to be its counter part. unless it comes from one already done.
but i think they will not make a new one at least till 6th gen (3-4 years from now) but as we have seen they will add nice combination such as ground/dark
And i think what they focused this time wa on the grafics and the metagame
