MahouNeko - Casey Allen
Casey's morning didn't start until her stomach was full of pastries and scalding hot beverages. She'd sleepwalk through her daily routine before driving to the coffee shop. She cursed as she saw the line already forming and grabbed her satchel quickly before running in, slamming the car door shut behind her. She stopped at the door, then spun on her heel and hurried back to the car to lock it. She peeked at the line, seeing a few more additions fall into place.

A slight panic consumed her, she had to get her coffee, she just had to! She darted across the parking lot, angering a few of the other morning addicts, and took her place at the end of the line. She looked at the display case, pondering as to what type of baked good she would eat that day.

Ian's pretty cupcakes looked amazing, as did the baker. She held back several chuckles and giggles as he came out for the first aid kit. She wanted to go help so he didn't mess himself up even more, but that would mean losing her place in line, her treasured spot that was steadily being moved forward.

((Critique me, I can take it ^^ I signed up for it smile ))

Rena had been running from her house at full speed, hoping to get to the coffee shop just as it was opening. A few distractions got in her way however, like a butterfly or one of the neighbors outdoor cats that just had to be petted. Once she got past all of the distractions she found herself standing outside the little shop that she loved so much. With a smile on her face, she opened the doors and looked around at the others that were here. Her eyes spotted Ian and she instantly knew what to ask for. She hadn't arrived to see what had happened so she was blissfully unaware of the panic that had just happened with him. Running past the people in line and up to the counter, she looked up at him and said. "Good morning Ian! Do you have any sweets ready yet? I don't have school for another hour so I can wait for em." She didn't mean to cut in front of everyone like that, she just didn't notice them. She was wearing her school uniform which consisted of a red jacket, white undershirt, and a white skirt, as well as her backpack.

Hymesis Browning

Hearing the girl asking about sweets drew Hymesis' attention. He had just fixed up a batch of lobster tails, with lemon custard. "Hey girl," Hymesis adressed. "I just made lobster tails if you'd be interested. They're fresh-made and ready to be enjoyed thoroughly." Hymesis wasn't one to bake often, but in his spare time he made extra pastries for the shop to sell.

Rena looked over to the boy curiously and thought in her head. I just asked for sweets and he's offering seafood? She was a little confused but that was soon lifted when she saw a sample of one of them. She felt a little silly for thinking it was seafood but at least she hadn't said it out loud. That would have been really embarrassing for her. Nodding happily to the older boy, she said. "Yes please! How much are they? I think I'll just get one and maybe one of Ian's cake slices if they're ready. I still need to keep some money for lunch after all."

Hymesis Browning

The dawning of a smile leaped onto Hymesis' face. He enjoyed it when he made customers happy, it was a secret joy of his. It took him a moment to reply the girl with the price, "They're two dollars and fifty cents, they're lemon today." Hymesis' least favorite flavor was lemon, but he figured he hadn't baked anything lemon flavored for the longest stretch of time so he did, finally.
He wrapped one of the lemon lobster-tails in a decorative white paper and set it on the glass-top counter. The pastries were still rather hot so he warned the girl, "It's still pretty hot, so give it a minute to cool down, mkay?" Hymesis really liked kids so he felt it a need to tell her.

OOC: Lobster tails are a pastry filled with custard, did I not make that clear?

((OOC: Nekochild's character is nine, and she didn't see the pastries at first.
I love lobster tails <3 ))

MahouNeko - Casey Allen
Casey was salivating at the mention of lobster tails. She drummed her fingers on her leg, taking a deep breath and trying not to be like Rena and bypass the line entirely. As much as she loved the little girl, Casey herself was seventeen; she needed to act like an adult... as hard as that would be.
She took a breath, then called, "Hym-hym? Could you save me one?" she gave him a sugary smile as the line remained static. A particularly indecisive customer was taking forever at the front.

Rena was now thankful for all the extra chores she did in order to get a raise in her allowance since she would have just enough for the lobster tail, cake slice, and her lunch for the day. Smiling happily, she fished her coin pouch out of her backpack and then took out two dollars and fifty cents in quarters to pay for the lobster tail. Another three dollars were taken out to pay for the cake slice she wanted to order as well. Paying for the lobster tail first, she set the two fifty on the counter and said. "Here you go! Do you know if Ian made his cake slices yet? I can pay for them right now too if you want." She showed him the three dollars in her hands that would pay for the cake.

Hymesis Browning

Hymesis didn't know what Ian was doing. For that matter, where he was. He turned back towards the kitchen and shouted back to Ian, "Ian!? Is that cake done yet?" He couldn't see Ian until he noticed him fumbling around at the other counter with the first aid kit.
"Ian, the cake done?" Hymesis asked again as if he didn't hear the first announcement. But it seemed odd, he was making muffins he thought, not cake. Perhaps he was making both.

MahouNeko - Casey Allen
Hymesis didn't seem to hear Casey, which kind of annoyed her. She huffed, crossing her arm and hoping that they weren't all gone when she got to the front. She checked how many there were in front of her now. She was second in line, which surprised her. Once she was up front, she slammed her hands on the counter.
"Hymesis! I want one of those lobster tails," she said, then turned to the cashier. "I'll also have an expresso," she smiled.

Hymesis Browning

Thrown off of his guard Hymesis turned back to the counter to see a customer reserving a lobster tail. He heard her say something about an expresso too, most likely wanted one. "Ma'am, I'll make sure there's one up here for you. Can I take care of your order after I'm done serving the other customers in front of you?" Hymesis was tempted to snarl a bit more at her, but he had to be his best at the workplace.

OOC: My bad, didn't realize Hym-Hym, was Hymesis. Made sense that he forgot anyway.

MahouNeko - Casey Allen
"I'm at the front of the line," she didn't take much offense at it though, turning back to the cashier and bouncing on the balls of her feet. She figured that was just how Hymesis was, she didn't really talk to him much anyways. She wasn't going to be a rude person and say that Rena bypassed at least ten people, it was part of the joys of being young.

Great job guys.
I think I'll sorta sit as an aside for a while, just to see how you're doing))

Lizzie Sillar
Lizzie rolled her eyes at Ian. That boy was always half killing himself.
She wouldn't admit it to his face, but she thought of the kid like she would a little brother.
She slipped out the back to the kitchen while Ian tended his injuries.
Grabbing the ingredients, she cracked some eggs and tipped some milk into a mixing bowl. When the liquid was fully blended she introduced the flour, knowing precisely how much to add without the use of any measuring cups.
Once the batter was smooth, she carefully drizzled it into the frying pan which was already heating on the stove. Once it had solidified, she lifted the pan and tossed the contents in the air, catching it expertly. Perfect.
Her stomach roared angrily at her. She loved the look of a perfectly cooked pancake and she hadn't had any breakfast today. Maybe she should set one aside for herself. She was sure the others wouldn't mind.
Once she had a full stack, she set it down on a bench in the bakery and called out to her staff, "Staff special, grab em when you can."

It was tradition for the morning shift to share breakfast on the day of a big review. It was Lizzie's way to calm nerves and encourage the less eager members of her little gang to show up on time instead of fussing around for sustenance at home.
Thinking of sustenance, she stabbed the top cake with a fork and shoved it unceremoniously in her mouth. There was nothing better, despite the burning of her tongue.

Once she was satisfied, she pulled on her well-used rubber gloves and set to work cleaning the dishes, a long and arduous task which she never truly enjoyed.
Lizzie sighed. It was going to be a tough day.

Hymesis Browning

After serving up the young girl he got to Casey's order. He thought she was being a bit rude by interrupting him while speaking to a child. He wasn't going to hold it against her, he needed this job and nobody likes a sour employee.
Hymesis jogged his own memory back to Casey's order, "So, you wanted one of the lemon lobster tails and an expresso? What size for your drink?" Hymesis never liked coffee, the hideous odor of it simply irritated him. He always tried to avoid the scent while brewing it by holding his breath, only breathing through his mouth, or his ever so charming; plugging of the nostrils.
After asking the girl her order, the staff breakfast announcement was given. Hymesis didn't know what was cooking but if Lizzie made it... Satisfaction was expected. He wasn't particularily hungry so he could take a small one of whatever she was making in 15 minutes or so. Maybe heat it up if it's not still a satisfactory temperature.

Taking her Lobster tail with a smile, she put her change back into her coin pouch and headed over to one of the nearby tables. Sitting down, her legs weren't long enough to reach the floor so she simply swung them back and forth as she took her first bite of the pastry. Her eyes grew wide as she tasted the lemon inside. It was delicious! Giggling happily, she gave Hymesis a thumbs up and said. "This is really good! I might just order another one if you have any left after school." She didn't have to leave yet so she took her time with the pastry. It wasn't as good as Ian's cakes but it was a new taste for her and it was definitely a good taste.
