It was slowly beginning to penetrate that in a battle of wits, he was hopeless outmatched and outclassed by this mare. Every argument he raised, she shot down like the Kawani shot down ducks in the air. And she still brought in fresh arguments aside from that. He was so out of his depth it wasn't even funny. And yet it was, a tiny voice inside of him insisted, until he squashed it again. There wasn't anything at all funny about her insulting him!

There was, at last!, something she was utterly and totally wrong about. He would not miss this opportunity.

"My name," he retorted, voice full of indignition as well as a smugness for finally being able to correct her, "is Calor. Not Mr. Turkey."

Did he seriously just pull that one on her? He looked like a jubilant child as he triumphantly declared that she was absolutely wrong in one aspect of her argument. Once again he had failed to pinpoint that she'd addressed him by a nickname, nor did she possess any form of telepathy so she wouldn't have know his name anyway. Her nose seemed to wrinkle a little bit and she may have seemed as though she had been beaten by this retort. However, the truth of the matter was that she was warring with her features to ensure that they didn't crack into a smile and roar with laughter.

"Good for you," she replied in the same drawl. She was rather impressed by that, she'd thought that the mirth would creep through but it seemed to be behaving for the time being. Her brow remained raised as she continued to observe his rather petulant and smug expression. "Wow, you really are like a toddler," she observed after a few moment, her eyes refusing to see a grown stallion. Instead, Calor seemed to have shrunk to the size of an angry little foal stomping his hooves and puffing out his cheeks.

"But you are still a turkey to me," she nodded at his puffed out cheeks and his otherwise angered stance. "Have you ever seen an angry turkey in a fight? You look just like one," she pointed out delicately and chuckled. Satisfied that she had set him down again, she flicked her tail against his flank and limped back to the bush to pluck more leaves from the bush.

It was his move now, forget her refusal to introduce herself. His retort had hardly been an introduction, it had been a blatant attempt to get the upperhand and it had failed. He'd have to wait to figure out who she was!

She...she was laughing at him! He knew she was! Calor ground his teeth and hunched his shoulders. That...that mare! Calling him a turkey and continuing to compare him to one over and over and over again! Calling him stupid, or rather, saying he was without actually saying it.

He couldn't think of anything to say. Or at least, nothing he could say that she wouldn't cut to pieces with her sharp words. Finally he shook himself all over, lowered his head and ran past the mare, through the blackberry bushes from which she'd eaten. He passed so close to her that a slight movement on her part would have been enough to touch him and then he was gone, a sunset disappearing into the green and gold of the afternoon, almost as if time ran backwards.

Annnnd he was gone - if she could have applied sound affects she would have cooed 'zoom' in the highest pitched voice she could mustre. Alas, this action only had the desired effect whenever it was done by a bystander and she was not in such a position on this occasion. Instead, she had watched with interest as his facial expression had chanced again and his bodylanguage had shifted. She had clearly won and soon enough her brown eyes were flicking after him as he shot off straight through her breakfast and into the thick of the trees.

...Now why had he done that?

Her gaze turned down to the fallen berries on the ground and she wrinkled her nose. There was no way those would be ripe by autumn, they'd be rotten! More importantly, he had left a rather big gap in the middle of the bush as though he needed to leave an everlasting reminder of his existence. She pitied the bush, it had been an innocent bystander and he had deliberately cut through it in an attempt to make a point. Such a destructive turkey but then again he was a turkey and she should have expected no less.

"Tally ho!" she called after him with a shake of her head. Perhaps he would be able to unruffle his feathers within the next few hours, lest a giggler inform him that he needed to lose weight. Now wouldn't that been an interesting conversation to overhear? She shook her head at this, released a small sigh and turned her attention back to the bush. Well the top may have been split in half but at least the leaves were still there.

...Why waste a good breakfast? It was what she had come for after all.
