He nodded. "I love pups," he admitted, with a little smile, carefully stacking his sticks and branches.
At her later question, he shook his head rapidly. "Oh! No, it's not that. I know Terreis would be delighted to have her children here." He paused, brow furrowed. "I just...don't know if any would choose the life of a slave, is all."

Smile broadened a bit. Iosef was such a pleasant wolf to be around, she only hoped that they could be friends even if according to the pack he was but an inferior. She would need to be careful not to do anything that would get him in trouble, for that was the last thing she would want to have happen. Picking up another mouthful of sticks Seraphin looked at Iosef thoughtfully for a few moments. "You never know, they could see how much you love your work and wish that they could contribute to the sisters in the same way that you do."

"That's what I hope," he said, feeling embarrassment rising up in him that he was talking so much, and for awhile fell silent while working at a heavier pace. Satisfied with his next batch, and realizing the area was quickly beginning to look better, he glanced back at Seraphin on his way back to his branch-sled. "I mean...I can't imagine living any other way. But I won't push anyone."

Noticing that the pile was a good enough size for him to pull away Seraphin nodded slightly and waited for Iosef to begin dragging it away. She walked along with him as he pulled the large branch pile to where the previous one had been taken. For the first part of the short walk she remained silent, thinking on things and not wanting to interrupt him as he dragged the large branch along.
"You're very good at your job." She commented as they reached the spot where the first large pile of branches had been dropped off, and she meant it. With a shy smile Seraphin turned and began to lead the way back to the area they were cleaning up. The two of them had made a lot of progress in only a short amount of time even if Iosef had done most of the work. "We should be finished just in time." Her eyes looking towards the horizon where the sun was just beginning to peak over the land. There should only be one more trip of branches and then the area would be safe for the pups to play in.

He smiled a bit shyly, ducking his head to resolutely drag the branches, his paws sinking in to the soft mud, splattering his legs. Amusedly, he thought that if Azalea were here, she would be chastising him for making such a mess. The thought made him grin, but he dropped off his load and glanced up at her on the return trip. "The pups should enjoy the puddles," he sad, avoiding her compliment a bit as it wasn't something he was used to receiving. "There's nothing quite like playing in mud." He glanced at his paws, and with a bold stab at irony, "...See?"

Seraphin let out a small laugh. Indeed the pups would enjoy frolicking in the mud puddles, especially Myrine, that pup seemed to be drawn to puddles no matter where they might be. Glancing over at Iosef she smiled. "I'm sure they will have a great time playing in the puddles." Her own legs were covered in mud turning her light colored paws into a dirty mess but she didn't mind it in the slightest. Bringing herself to a stop Seraphin let her toes wiggle about in the mud a bit, then lifting her one front paw she brought it down into the mud sending some of it splashing up on herself as well as at Iosef. "It's good mud for playing in, that's for sure." Seraphin laughed a bit but knew they had to get back to work. "I think one more load of branches and we should be done." She stated as she looked over the now mostly clean area.

"Looks like," he agreed, and set to work, moving a bit faster now that he had woken up some. The sun was creeping up in the horizon, and the mist was breaking up between the trees.
The last branches were fast, easy work, now that they had worked out such an efficient system, and as Iosef hauled the last load into the trees, he felt good -- satisfied, in the way that only hard work could make him feel.
The ghosts of his past were firmly buried in the back of his mind.
Dropping off the last of the branches, he stretched, shaking out his mud-covered pelt -- though it did little to clean him -- and smiled at the nanny. "I'd best be off to my regular duties, if there's nothing further to do for now. I'll bring the others to empty these further away, later," he said, nodding to the stack of branches.
He bowed, then, a respectful dip of the head, and pulled away to see what else was needed of him.
