The cat did not seem to cooperate with the boy's plans. When he shook the bag over her head, she abandoned her gentle head bumps to his chest and sat on her hind legs, forepaws in the air. She made a curious cooing-cat sound as she batted her paws towards the bag, as if letting him know "I know what's in the bag, now let me have some chips."
Her pale green eyes found his golden ones for a brief moment as she let out another cooing mewing sound.
Please sir, I want some more...

Sheldon's devious plot vanished in his stupor as she pulled off her prairie dog act, pawing at the bag he held high in the air. To think a cat could do that while balancing on his legs, awesome. "Fine ~" he sighed, lowering the bag to a more reachable altitude for her to stuff her face in. If she wanted to. Would she want to? Sheldon thought about it for a split second before shooting his other hand past her head before it could get in their itself and into the bag to pull out a handful of Bugles for her to munch on.
It was a really good thing she didn't try the BIG eyes on him, he probably would have up and gone to a store to buy her a year supply of chips and other such things. This was what pet deprivation had on a person, you didn't learn to resist cute animal antics... well, to some degree.

********* was a smart cat. Most people would consider a talking cat to be smart. When he lowered the bag initially down to where her face could easily slip in, she actually began to lean forward, as if attempting to do just that. Yet, the boy seemed to change his mind, pulled the bag away for a moment (which seemed to cause the cat's ears to droop slightly), but then held out a handful of corn chips to nibble on.
With an eager purr, she gave him a kiss on the hand with her rough tongue. If he was listening carefully, he might have heard what sounded like a person saying "thank you" with their tongue sticking out. Within seconds, she was then licking a couple of the cone-shaped chips.
She totally looked like that sort of cat who could use petting, even in the midst of eating.

And petting she was getting, as soon as she began her licking and nipping at the funny cone shaped chips from one hand, the other went to work across her spine and - more importantly - behind her ears. Especially behind the ears, and a little under bit on the bridge of her nose - it sometimes made her eyes close and make her look like one of those really happy Japanese cat cartoon characters ... and that looked pretty cute even though he wouldn't admit it out loud [but who was he kidding? he was getting all girly and giddy over her as it was].
Sheldon could really get used to all this; sitting on a park bench, on a silent afternoon, buzzed and petting a cat who apparently could talk. Sharing [? She was eating most of them now] chips and whatnot. A placid smile spread across his face as he suddenly went into the repetitive motion of sliding his thumb across her little star symbol, enjoying the contrast between it and the rest of her fur. "You have a star on your head." He repeated while sparing a glance at it, just like earlier... perhaps not remembering that he had already stated such a fact. But then he soon added, in a equally dull tone, "Why would a cat need a star symbol?"

She couldn't help the fact that this boy knew how to spoil a cat. She loved the attention along her back and behind her ears. The bit about her nose was a bit strange, since it tickled more than anything. She had to close her eyes at the strange tickly feeling. When he stopped, she opened her eyes and resumed her almost-full attentions on the corn chips. She was still keeping an ear perked up to listen to whatever the boy had to say.
The moment he put his thumb over the star upon her head, she blinked and looked up at him for a moment. Did he really just repeat a question from earlier?
If he couldn't even remember a comment he had made a little while before, how would he be able to remember the cat's ability to talk?
In a bold manner, she mentioned "I have my reasons." Then she shut her mouth and waited for a reaction.

He probably wouldn't remember all the details from this encounter, but some form of talking animal would probably be prominent in his mind. Especially when they responded to his questions.
Sheldon pursed his lips together in thought for a moment, before returning to its natural smile. "Reasons, huh?" He asked in a more amused tone. "Does it have some evolutionary purpose?" His gold eyes glanced down at it again while his hand continued to brush against the base of her ears in a circular motion. It seemed like it was permanent but, "Did someone put it there or something...?" And then he just had to get this out in the air, "Can you shoot lasers out of it?" Which was asked in a clearly nerdish tone.
It was interesting how it took a naturally non-talking creature to get someone like Sheldon to actually get interested in holding a conversation [with a long stream of questions, no less]. Or then again, maybe it was the weed.

Oh god, if only the boy knew! If only he knew about her ability to fire shots at Youma. Not quite a lazer, but probably the closest thing that a cat of any sort was going to get. Even with the boy in his current state, she wasn't exactly going to tell him about what she could do.
He just seemed like the sort who would request her to prove it somehow. And she wasn't going to risk a civilian getting injured on her watch because she foolishly took him with her on a Youma hunt!
So rather than give him anymore answers he could understand, the tailless cat merely purred. That hand of his did feel quite nice behind her ears.
Besides, it is rude to talk with your mouth full of food she reasoned with herself.

So, there was silence between them again; aside from her purring. Sheldon didn't totally mind, being on autopilot with the petting and shuffling chips in his hand for her licking pleasure. He would have wanted answers, though. Seeing a cat with a laser beam would have been a sight to see.
Oh well, Sheldon sighed. "Keep your secrets, you conning little cat." He chuckled, pulling his hand out of her fur for a moment to take in the last bits of drag from his joint. He let out another sigh as the smoke escaped his mouth and nose, looking the barely-there paper over before flicking it off in the land of litter. All done, he half heartedly smiled as he returned his hand to petting ********* once again.

I'm not conning! The cat's velvety nose twitched slightly at the label. It simply was not true! However, she didn't budge as the boy continued to essentially spoil her with attention and chips. It definitely was a welcome change from how Ellie would treat her. Even when ********* was living with the Senshi of Rainbows, the tomboy still acted like a big grump. There was no spoiling, no petting, and no extra treats.
********* could hear Ellie's voice now: "You'll get fat!"
She sighed. At least there were still some nice strangers out there. Her pale green eyes flickered up to the boy's placid face. It would be nice to share secrets... sorry, friend! Rather suddenly, the feline puffed up and stood in the boy's lap. Carefully, she positioned herself to face him for a moment before rubbing her cheek against his chest.
You be good, okay?

Sheldon stared down curiously as the little cat bumped her head against his chest affectionately. There were still a few chips in hand, some untouched while others licked clean. "All done?" He questioned, unsure of where this was all going. Was she thanking him? Saying goodbye? Both? Or maybe getting ready to show him what that little star on her head was supposed to to? [Grant super powers? Man, that would be epic!]
He fingered the remaining Bugles in his hand, mulling over them for a moment to figure out what to do with them let alone the cat. A second later, his hand closed around, turning them into small bits that soon littered the ground. Perhaps some other woodland creature would want them. [The squirrel from earlier that Sheldon had gotten about?]
All attention was turned back to *********, Sheldon instantly back to scratching her head. "You're more than welcome to come back anytime." He told her, hoping he would even in the least remember her through the haze. "You're kind of cool, cat."

The feline let out a purr, but then it cut short as her ears managed to catch the crunching sound of corn chips being smooshed. The cat's ears perked up rather notably, and in an almost eager fashion, she looked to the boy's now closed hand. Her pale green eyes easily trailed after the hand as it turned over and released all the crumbs to the ground.
There was about 0.2 seconds that passed before the somewhat round feline popped off the boy's lap like one of those spring-loaded dog toys that did the back flips. She landed firmly on the ground and immediately began to do her impression of a vacuum cleaner. The main problem with eating chips of any sort was the fact they were usually difficult to eat in this current form. She couldn't open her mouth up wide enough to chomp on them, so instead she was forced to nibble delicately. However, now all of the chips were easy to get down.
If someone could dress ********* up as a piggy complete with a snout, it would have been the most accurate costume in the world for the manx. Unfortunately, none of the other woodland creatures would get the chance to chow down on the crumbs. ********* made quick work of them before she bounded off again with a rather cheerful sound mewing sound. For being such a heavy eater, it was amazing how quickly that cat moved. The sound of her silver bell jingling as she ran livened the air for a good ten seconds before she had managed to run far enough away for the sound to no longer be heard.
