With the comforting nudge from his father and the company of his brother the shy pup scooched out a little. His mother had told them it was important to behave and be nice to their uncle and he was determined to do his part correctly. Puffing out his little chest, trying to stand like daddy did, he took a few hesitant steps forward.
"Hello uncle Iosef" the little pup intoned seriously, as if it was a solemn duty, then eyed the male more closely. If he had seen him alone, he might have thought of his mother, but Apollo was right - he didn't look quite the same. Oh, the colours, sure, but even with those Iosef looked a little brighter, more vibrant. His head cocked to the side, he wondered if his mother had any other siblings and if they looked more or less like her.
He, afterall, didn't look much like any of his brothers - most of them had at least vestiges of spots similar to their mother - though he, at least, had mothers colouring, something that Tantalus couldn't even claim. Tantalus looked as different to them all as his new sister did, even.
Coming to, he realised he had been staring and quickly averted his eyes. He didn't want his uncle to think he was rude afterall.

As Derecho walked up to them Terreis gave him a look as if to say 'don't do anything that will piss me off'. But so far he seemed like he was gonna behave himself as were their sons. One ear flicked in an irritated manner as he licked her. What did he think that he had to prove himself to be better than her brother now. Letting out a huff Terreis took a slight step back as some of the other pups came up to greet Iosef. Even Corinth, the normally shy one, seemed to be taking a shining to Iosef, which was a good thing.
Well with all the puppy introductions done save for Tantalus Terreis thought this would be as good of time as any to show Iosef her surprise. Glancing over at her mother she smiled. "Now there is one other thing I wish to show you." She said before padding over to the den which was only a few feet away. Bending her head down she whispered something into the entrance, before taking a step back and looking back to her brother to watch his reaction.Iolaus' tail wagged a bit more. "Yup that's me!" He barked happily to his uncle. Who for at least the moment was giving him his complete attention which was something rare given how many brothers, and now sister, he had to compete with for attention. But then his other brothers started to come in so he knew his time in the lime light was fading. Perhaps he could find some time to play with just his uncle later. Attention turned to his mother as she padded towards the den. He knew what that meant, it meant that all his mothers attentions would be back on Guinevere. Well at least uncle would probably still pay attention to him and his brothers. She could hear them outside talking, barking, maybe even laughing, but she was stuck down in the den. Not that Guinevere cared all that much, it was nice and dark in here, so she didn't have to worry about the sun bothering her. With her ears turned towards the dens entrance she listened closely to the voices, of which only one she didn't recognize so it was safe to assume that is was that of her uncles. Come on out now. Her mothers voice quietly called down to her. With a slight tail wag Guinevere crawled from the den. Luck was on her side as the bank of trees currently blocked out most of the sun, covering the den site with a good deal of shade. Her uncle was pretty easy to spot, he looked very much like his mother and other than her father was the only other adult in the area.
"Surprise!" She barked and ran towards him. Terreis had told her much about this uncle and she knew he was important to know and treat well, even if he was of a gender below her - much like her brothers were. But for now the pup treated them like her equals, as per Terreis' instructions. With slightly squinted eyes Guinevere looked up at her uncle with a smile.

Iosef was a little taken aback at Derecho's brazen display of affection; it wasn't something that he was accustomed to, and certainly not something he had expected from his sister. In fact, the entire notion of romance was something he hadn't quite expected from his sister; perhaps he'd thought that the pups had just spontaneously sprouted from the earth?
...Speaking of pups sprouting from the earth! Iosef's eyes locked upon the small white pup, expression quizzical. His initial question was 'who in the world is that', but he held it back for a moment so he could better explore the situation, and after a moment it became clear to him.
"You...were given a daughter," he said, and smiled at Terreis because he knew she must be extremely proud of her. He was, however, a bit baffled...he wasn't entirely sure how to react to this new development. "Hello there," he said, crouching down to his belly so that he could be on eye-level with her. "And where did you come from, little one?"

He wanted to make one thing clear: he was not interested in meeting his uncle. He had been told that his uncle's pack, the very pack his mother was from, had rules. Really, really annoying rules concerning gender and rights of power. So because his uncle was an uncle and not an aunt, he was pretty much the lowest thing possible there. But that didn't sicken him nearly as much as the description following it: that Uncle Iosef actually didn't mind being at the bottom of the rung.
He was related to a mud-loving welcome mat! That alone made Tantalus bristle.
So, knowingly full well that his mother was ordering them all out to go meet the reject, the pup decided against making a bold statement of an entrance to prove that HE was happy to be seeking power, and instead opted for the passive-aggressive method: that being to stay in his family's den with his back to the open air, for all intents and purposes trying to appear like he was deep in sleep. Closed eyes, at rest ears, slow breathing; he was practically meditating by now, keeping the buzz of chatter out of his serene mind. Maybe if he kept this up, he wouldn't be forced to visit him . . .
It was a longshot, but he had to try.

To say Derecho was a little bit irritated by the way Terreis treated th white pup with so much affection - while ignoring her own boys for the most part was a bit of an understatement. "She was found in the woods" He informed Iosef trying to keep the irritation from his voice. It wasn't the pups fault after all and Derecho did try and treat her with the same kindness and affection he did his sons - but it was a bit of a thorn in his paw none the less. Shouldn't Terreis care more for her own flesh and blood?
Deciding to put these thougnts from his mind he let his eyes search about for Tantalus, finally spotting his black and white son still laying in the den, he looked to be asleep thought Derecho doubted that was truly the case. He'd let him alone regardless as the pup had not been excited to meet his Uncle and Derecho wasn't going to force it on him.
Apollo watched as his uncle fawned over his adopted sister - and pretty much assumed that that would be the end of the attention for he and his brothers. Lifting a hind paw to scratch behind hi ear he gave a brief yawn and then wandered off towards Tantalus. "Uncle like girls too" He whispered to his black and white brother before settling down nearby in a bit of a huff.

Terreis certainly didn't miss the hint of irritation in Derecho's voice. He just couldn't put that aside even for one day. She was trying to treat her sons as equally as she did Guinevere but it was clear to her that none of her sons wished for her attention as they all stuck close to Derecho. So Terreis had started to give, perhaps the females of Antianeira just weren't meant to have male pups. Giving her head a slight shake Terreis went over to where Derecho had moved to and sat down beside him. "Not given," She corrected her brother even though Derecho had already answered him. "We took her in after Derecho found her."
"Perhaps you boys would like to play a game with your uncle." She suggested, hoping that would ease the tension a bit and show Derecho that she wasn't favoring Guinevere. "I'm sure Iosef would be more than willing to play with you. Guinevere, myself and your father will stay here while you do so." Perhaps if she could get the boys and Iosef to go off to play she could have a talk with Derecho - hopefully one that wouldn't end in another fight.
This new wolf, her uncle, was so nice. She already enjoyed him being around. Tail wagged a bit at his question. "I was under a bush, and he," she glanced back at Derecho. "He found me, and he gave me a bird to eat. Then he said I could live with him and his family." Her eyes glanced over at her adopted brothers for a moment and then she stepped closer to Iosef and spoke quietly, though surely those close by would hear her. "I don't think they like me very much."
As Terreis spoke Guinevere turned her attention to the splotchy female. She looked back at her uncle, smiled widely at him and then ran over to where Terreis and Derecho were, plopping down beside her mother. Wondering what games the boys would end up playing, but wasn't jealous at all that she wouldn't get to go along as well.
Iolaus was actually quite surprised that his mother suggested that they go off and play without Guinevere, but he wasn't about to argue that they should bring her along either. Turning his attention to Iosef he barked at his uncle. "Yeah, play a game with us." Tail wagged quickly as he glanced at his brothers, though he noticed that Apollo was going into the den. Did he not want to play? Iolaus shrugged, fine if Apollo didn't want to play it meant more attention from his uncle would go direction to him.

Iosef smiled at the little albino girl, and then straightened, looking up at Derecho. He struggled to meet the other wolf's eyes, but knew it would be important to do so -- for Iosef wasn't stupid, and he could feel the tension in the air. He suspected he knew something of what was in Derecho's mind. He could see both sides of the issue...and that didn't make it much easier to deal with. "It was kind of you to take her in," he said, being sure it was clear he was addressing Derecho. "From what I have heard of your pack, that is a value that you esteem highly here -- and as a wolf that was once alone, and lost...it is something that means a great deal."
He lowered his head then, feeling he had spoken entirely too much, and perhaps out of turn.
Balios looked around, fidgeting a little. Well, this was no good. Apollo was off to join Tantalus for a good sulk, and that wouldn't do anybody much good.
He stood to follow his brother, but stopped at his mother's words, eyes lighting up. "Of course! I want to play with Uncle!" He said, his tail waving behind him. He bounded forward exuberantly, coming in alongside Iolaus -- and then, because his ever-present desire for fairness got the better of him, he glanced achingly at Guinevere. He didn't really want her to play with them, but at the same time, he didn't like leaving her out. That's what it always came down to, boys against girls, even if the boys got something good for once. What Balios really wanted was equality.
"You can come play with us too, if you like," he said, rather boldly, to his adopted sister. "...But if it's too bright out, or you don't want to wrestle, you don't have to. But you can!" Then, furtively, he glanced around at his brothers, a little afraid at their reactions to his offer.
At his sister's decree, Iosef's eyes brightened greatly, and his own tail wagged very much like a pup's. "Careful!" He announced, backing away and assuming a playful position. He was grateful that the pups involved were all to be males; it made playing with them easier, as there was no difference in rank between them. "Uncle Iosef is very good at chasing rats...and you lot aren't a whole lot bigger, now are you?" He grinned, and let out an excited bark, for all the world like a child. "Come show me you're more'n a bunch of mice, you scoundrels!"

He was about to growl something about wanting to sleep alone, but it was only Apollo, about the only brother he didn't mind right now. Iolaus was just a attention-seeking nuisance, and Corinth . . . Gods, he didn't even want to think about Corinth. Bet he was Mom's favorite by far by being a weak girl in a boy's body like their uncle. Tantalus huffed in response to his brother's words, further irritated and clenching his teeth. He could only hope Balios didn't try to pop in and coerce them both out, because frankly the guy would be getting an earful of teeth right now.
"Great," he grumbled darkly. "Tell me he's leaving soon." But no, he could hear the beginnings of a game going on! Stupid Gwinevere was probably stupidly going in and was going to make it even more stupid with her stupid eyesight, so the game would have to stupidly pander to her needs, and he bet no-one would be able to say otherwise because Mom was a . . . was a . . . He didn't even know the right word for her yet!
He wondered why she bothered coming back if all she cared about were girly men and her adopted daughter.
"Guess not. Even better," Tantalus huffed quietly to Apollo, toes flexing in and out - if he had been a cat, he would have been kneading the ground in disgust. "What do we do? If we sneak out, they'll force us to go meet him, but being in here is boring!"

Corinth could feel the tension in the air and it made his body feel as if it had prickles all over. The glooming presence of two brothers closing themself off in the den, though, possibly upset him more than his mother and father's usual tetchiness - which was something he was more used to.
Since mother had asked if they wanted to play with their uncle he was of course not going to deny the opportunity, but he didn't want to rock the boat and waited until Balios spoke up before adding a quite "yeah, lets play together" including Guinevere in his gaze. He was impressed by Balios' idea to include her - he probably wouldn't have thought of it and willingness to let her join in would look good for mother, right?
"Hey, we're way bigger than rats!" his childish tones hinted at mock seriousness, and slight indignity. Warming to his uncle's soft nature and puppyish ways - so unlike his own parents - he ventured forward by himself, mock-crawling as if stalking the prey he would, one day, hopefully catch.
He was getting better, at this sort of thing, though he glanced once or twice over his shoulder at Balios, as if seeking confirmation from his more confident sibling.

Apollo cast a quick glance back towards their gathered family "Dosen't look like it" He agreed as he watched the start of the game. Apollo didn't mind playing and might have joined in if he wasn't so very irked at being shunted aside for his adoptive sister. So much for thinking their uncle might be a special wolf of some sort. Snorting softly he turned his attention back to Tantalus.
"Father wouldn't make us..but mother would" He agreed with a dark sigh. "perhaps if we wait a while they'll get distracted and won't notice us if we leave" He suggested. Though he had no idea what they could go and do afterwards.
"Such is the reason this pack exists" He told the calico wolf, voice softening ever so slightly as he heard of him once being alone and lost. Pity that he was now controlled and imprisoned even if no longer lost but that was his choice "we are a home for those who no longer have one elsewhere or for those who wish to forget" He further explained before moving off slightly so that the pups and their uncle could play
Derecho watched impassively as Iosef and the pups started to play - well most of the pups he amended as he eyed Apollo and Tantalus in the den. If they didn't want to play then they didn't want to play was pretty much his thought on the matter and sitting down some ways off he regarded this family get together with about as much enthusiasm as he could muster. He was trying to let Terreis have her day with her brother.

Irritation started to set in as she watched Derecho. She knew he was gruff for the most part but it was like he didn't wish Iosef to be here at all, and that pissed her off because he knew how important Iosef was to her. And so what if he paid attention to Guinevere, wasn't he playing with the boys now? Besides Terreis had told them to play without Guinevere so as to give them a better chance to have undivided attention. Making sure to sit close to Derecho, she spoke a bit softly but didn't think it would matter if the others heard her or not. "You could be a little more welcoming you know."
Her eyes moved to the pups as they started to play, including shy little Corinth. Well at least most of them seemed eager to do so. Terreis was fully well away that Apollo and Tantalus where hiding in the den, not wanting to participate. They certainly had their father's stubbornness. Fine, if they didn't want to participate or care than neither would she - two less bodies to keep her eyes on anyways. "You can play if you wish." She said to Guinevere, though if the girl didn't want to join in that was just fine, Terreis could always take her someplace to do something and leave the boys to either play or ignore each other.
Guinevere watched with curiosity as three of her brothers and her new uncle began to play. Part of her wanted to join in, who wouldn't want to play right, and besides she didn't mind the rough housing one bit, mother had after all began teaching her the ways of Antianeira. But then again Terreis had said she would stay here while the boys went off to play, so that is what she would do - for now at least. If the urge to play became too great Guinevere would certainly jump in then. "No, you play with uncle Iosef, I'll stay here." She told them with a smile so as to make them think she was happy that they offered her the chance - which she was of course.
Iolaus wondered just why Apollo and Tantalus weren't out here. There was plenty of fun to be had for all of them, they played with father all the time, what made their uncle so different. Oh well, it just meant a bit more attention could be placed upon him, which Iolaus did enjoy. His attention turned to Guinevere as both Balios and Corinth offered for her to join in. He didn't mind either way, but when she declined the offer he smiled at her. "You can join in later if you wish." He told her and then turned his attention back to Iosef, who was bend down in that classic playful manner. "Get him! Go for the legs." He yelled and then charged forward, leaping at Iosef trying to land on his back so he could help to force him down while his brothers went after his legs. Iolaus let out a playful bark and a bit of a growl as he came downwards. He would be the hero this time.

Iosef took a moment to pause, while the pups gathered themselves, to survey the scene. He knew there was another pup missing, of course, and when Apollo left the group, he suspected he knew where the last son was. Pity. He thought perhaps, if the opportunity arose, he would find a way to seek out those two pups specifically and extend his company to them.
His attentions drifted to Derecho. He should like a word with him, he decided -- he was intensely curious about this male Terreis had taken, and doubly curious about what life in a different pack was like. But there was a time for that, later on, and for now, he had a small assembly of pups vying to attack him. He braced himself for an onslaught, tail wagging excitedly. When in situations like these, Iosef was little more than a pup himself.
Balios smiled at Corinth, coming up beside him. It was becoming clear to him, the older he got, that a certain degree of politics had risen in the family, where the brothers were slowly dividing themselves in two, and Balios only wanted to unite the two halves. He hung back, just a moment, considering going to the den and trying to convince Tantalus and Apollo to come play. It seemed like the right thing to do.
But at the same time, he also didn't want them to yell at him. And it wasn't like they were being excluded...sighing, deciding he'd lost this battle for now, he bounded forward boldly alongside Iolaus, darting forward for his uncle's paws.

Corinth followed suit, heeding his brother's cry and going for his uncles legs. Knowing that it had worked before, he would his way around the ankles of the adult, wriggling and diving back and forth. Although he normally deliberately tried not to get under-foot, he knew this tactic was a way to play at 'fighting' without actually having to get too snappy or pushy. He was part of the team, but not having to be overly physical.
He was learning to enjoy it - not so much the rough and tumble, but the group mentality, the willingness to join in under direction. His tail wagged softly, if a little low, as he helped his brothers take on his uncle.

Derecho merely raised a brow at Terreis word's he'd thought he'd been plenty welcoming, alright so perhaps he 'd been a bit passive aggressive at times but well...it was hard to get all buddy buddy with someone who clearly thought so very differently then yourself and on top of that he was still a bit miffed at the way the white pup had been the 'surprise' of the entire event...couldn't his sons have been just as good? It was all just so maddening this different mindset of her old pack.
Huffing slightly he slid his forelegs forward until he was laying on the ground and pillowed his face on his front paws to watch the play, it was of course nearly impossible to watch the pups play and not be at least a little bit amused and after a while he caught himself smiling from time to time.
