"My aunts taught me this game, its called 'Dead man'... oh... but that means that someone will have to walk around blindfolded... I don't think River's dad will like that." he sighs, stretching out on the grass and wincing a little, kinda wishing he could heal his own back, not that he could heal all of it anyway.
"I think they'll be alright... My name is Theo, I don't think we have met, though the boys have." He says simply, offering out his hand to shake and giving him a warm smile.

"Aww... I think Dadda would be okay if I don't trip though." River pouted a little, glancing over at his father unhappily. He didn't understand why Eno had to be such a spoil sport.
"Enosio. I think I remember River meeting Anox here awhile back, but I never met you." Eno took Theo's hand and shook it. Theo was probably the first Meta parent that he didn't automatically suspect of secretly being a murderer, purely based on his species. All of the other parents were human, or at least came off as human, and humans were bad.
"That's too bad. Uhmmmm...." Hayden struggled to think of something else. "Duck, Duck, Goose? Naw, River could trip... hm..." He sighed, there really wasn't anything else to play that wouldn't get them in trouble. "We'll just have to pick a game anyway and be real careful." He nodded to River, who nodded in response with a most serious expression. "So lets pick a game then. I dunno how to play Dead Man, what's that?" Hayden looked to Anox with a curious expression.

"Well... Its like Marco Polo, but in the grass. One kid walks around with his eyes closed, and the other kids have to roll around in the grass and make a noise when the seeker calls out 'Dead men'!" he grins, he really liked playing this game with his aunts and uncles, maybe other kids would like to play it too. "And when someone is caught, they get to be the seeker!"
"No, we didn't. The boys seem to be getting along great now, why don't we go and sit down. I really wouldn't worry about them too much, it looks like Anox is telling them about a game that his Aunts taught him." he laughs, looking over at the boys with a smile.

"That sounds awesome, we should play that." Hayden grinned widely. He looked to River to see if the toddler would agree.
"Is there runnin'? I can't run fast..." River pouted a little. He hadn't really thought too much about growing up, but he really wished he had longer legs now that he was playing with big kids.
"All right..." Eno reluctantly returned to his spot on the bench, but kept a watchful eye on the trio. If River got hurt that was it. They'd go home and he'd refuse to respond to any more of Hayden's demands. Anox seemed fine enough though.

"You don't have to run if you don't want to River." he smiles, "Okay, so who wants to be a dead guy and who wants to be the seeker?" he grins, really starting to like playing with them.
Theo sits beside the other man and smiles, "I wouldn't get too upset, Anox is a wonderful healer." he whispers, almost like he read Eno's thoughts.

"I wanna be the seeker!" Hayden announced as he hopped up to his feet. "I'm totally good at seeking." He grinned, but somewhere in the back of his head he wondered if his sound based powers was the same as cheating in this sort of game.
"Oh good." River pushed himself upright and then dusted himself off. Eno had taught him to be tidy at all times. "Are we hidin' or just tryin' to get away from Hayden?" River looked around for a spot to hide at, but found nothing particularly useful.
"Still, I don't think Hayden is a very good influence. Last time they talked on the phone he taught River some curse words... it took a week to convince him not to say them anymore." Eno sighed, rubbing at his temples a little. Why oh why had he agreed to do this?

Anox giggles and stands again, patting his rear to get the grass off, "Its like marco polo... Hayden, you close your eyes, and River and I will try and stay away from you. River, you gotta make dead guy noises when he calls out though, so he can hear you, k?" he giggles, and then makes some airy moany noises, like a zombie, as an example.
"I have the same problem at the house... Anox is always learning something or another from his uncle Toki..." he shakes his head, "But that is part of growing up i suppose, you can't very well keep the boy locked away from the world. It wouldn't be fair to him." Theo states logically.

"Oh, okay. I'll count to ten, and you guys can move around, and then I'll call out Dead Men, okay?" He grinned and closed his eyes. "One, two, three..."
"Okay Anox... no peaking Hayden!" River giggled and then toddled a good ways away from Hayden before settling on a spot he figured would be good enough for the time being.
"Five, six, seven, eight, nine... ten!" Hayden grinned and took a few steps forward before pausing to listen. When he heard nothing of value, he called out, "Dead men!"
It was then that River realized that he didn't know what dead people sounded like. They were dead, so logically they didn't make any noise... right? "R-raargh?" The sound came out more confused than anything else. Really, what did dead people sound like? And if they were making noise, were they really dead?
"I'd be more relaxed about it if he were older, but he's still a toddler, so it's unsettling to have him come running up all excited about learning something new, only to hear curse words come out of his mouth." Eno sighed, shaking his head a little. He wanted to tell Theo that he had no idea what he was talking about, but refrained from doing so. Not everyone had such horrible experiences with the world at large, so of course not everyone realized what an awful and dangerous place it was. Really, he was doing River a favor by keeping him confined to the house or the academy campus. They did occasionally go into town, but only when Eno was there to watch River at all times.

Anox giggles and darts away, stopping about ten feet from Hayden, behind him, and grinning silently. When the other child called out he takes a breath and "Hnnurrg...!" came out of his mouth, followed by him trying not to laugh.
Theo shrugs a little, "They grow seemingly right before your eyes... Anox did, right over night..." he says, a little too sadly for something that should have been a happy time.

[Fff, I'm such a dork.. I tried to put "Hayden" in the color=---- bbtag.... hahaaa]
Hayden paused, debating on whether to go after River or to go after Anox. River sounded closer, and he'd be easier to track, but... ah, he turned toward River and started moving closer to him, arms outstretched.
River looked to Anox, and then back to Hayden. As quietly as he could, he tried to sneak away, but being as little as he was, sneakiness was not very natural. His shoes made crumpling noises as he walked over the grass and occasionally snapped a stick that was lying around. Each time he freaked out a bit and turned to see if Hayden was following him.
Of course, Hayden was, which only made him freak out more. So eventually he broke into a run and tried to hide behind Anox. He really wanted to tell the big kids that the game was a lot scarier than he had thought in the beginning, but he didn't want to have to rule out another game...
"The pamphlet said he'd be growing to be about Hayden and Anox's size in a month, but... River hasn't budged an inch the entire time he's been with me. I imagine he'll spring up over night like Anox did, but then I won't know what to do with him. How tall will he be? Will I have and clothes that'll fit until we can get him new ones? It's rather stressful." Eno sighed, smoothing out his hair after a breeze ruffled it up. "You don't sound too happy about Anox getting bigger though."

Anox smiles and protects River, leading him away and grinning playfully, he liked this game, and he wanted River to like it too.
Theo smiles, "He'll grow in his own time... And as for being sad... Well... Anox hasn't been well, and i didn't get to really enjoy being with him, as we were in the hospital... But i would rather the kids didn't know that, if you would be so kind." he adds, looking over at the other father with a kind smile. He seemed really wise, even a little older than he looked.

"Dead men!" Hayden suspected that they had joined forces against him, but just in case, he wanted to hear them shout out. If they were together, he could kill two birds with one stone.
"Raaaargh!" River announced and then looked for a place to take cover. He spotted a bush that might confuse Hayden if he touched it, and then pointed at it, as if telling Anox to come with him. He made his way over to it as carefully as possible so Hayden wouldn't figure out.
"Of course, I understand that. Even if River did find out, we don't get out much and I don't think he'd babble it to just anyone if he was asked not to... He's a pretty good kid." Eno shrugged a little. He couldn't imagine what it would be like if River had to be hospitalized. Since adopting him, Eno had grown so used to living with someone else that he didn't think he could bear being alone again, even if it was temporary.

Anox nods and follows him, "Rrrrrguh!" he groans, making a funny face as he does and then ducks behind the bush with River, grinning and trying not to laugh.
Theo sighs softly, "We were in the hospital for three months, it was terrible. So many times i thought i would lose him." he says softly, watching the boys running through the grass with a sort of distant smile on his face.

Hayden swerved to go in the direction he'd heard them rawring from, but soon found that they had moved locations. With a frown he turned toward the bush, but when he got close to it all he felt were the leaves. "You guys are sneaky." He frowned, tapping his foot as he thought of a way to get them.
He figured using sound waves would not only get him lectured, but it would be cheating, too...
River couldn't help but let out a small giggle at Anox's face, but hushed himself as soon as Hayden drew closer. He stared up at the older kid before suddenly running off to the side, making quite a bit of noise as he did. He figured it wouldn't be too fun for them to just stay behind the bush forever...
"Three months? Do you mind if I ask what happened? I can't imagine the horror of that..." Eno seemed genuinely upset for Theo and Anox for having gone through such a thing.
