Kina beamed at him, but she didn't really have anything else to say. She didn't really want to say anything else, the implication that he was concerned about the state he might return in.. or that he might not.. was unsettling and she wanted to avoid worrying about that. And whether or not they really ought to worry about that, it was better to just enjoy.

"Yes," she said decisively, still smiling.

He stood and couldn't help but glance across at her, the affection visible there in his eyes. He took a few steps, brushing against her, and looping his tail briefly with his own.

He imagined that if Rap were here, the youth would be laughing at him, and, casually, he glanced back to make sure they truly were alone. It seemed that they were, the world still, peaceful...almost as if it were holding its breath.

He shook his head and glanced towards Kina again. "Such a strange thing, to feel happy and sad all at once."

Kina also thought of how things would seem if they were spotted but she knew Jino would not have to show up to see it, which put a small smirk on her face. There was no hiding from him if he wanted to pry and she had long come to terms with that. It didn't bother her that much, and already acknowledging this as a reality for herself helped her ignore the potential of Rap appearing.

She hesitated a moment before pushing herself up to her feet, brushing back against him as they began to walk. There was nothing left for her to say, trying to push away the sadness could cause some trouble, all she had left to do was help to focus on the happiness.

**~Timeskip~**

Hakan had mixed feelings.

The morning had come but the sun was not yet high enough to transform the sky from grey to blue. It was a colour that reflected Hakan's rather dull mood. He didn't regret his decision, but he was more than a little saddened that his awakening to love had come at such a difficult time.

If only they could have met Kinagiri after their mission into the Firekin lands when they wouldn't have had to part under such grim circumstances.

He glanced about him as if trying to figure out how long it might take them. A week? Perhaps a little longer? He shook his head, moving to step up to Rap who was standing to attention just a few paces from the den where they had been standing.

"Ready?" Hakan murmured.

Rap turned to look at his friend and nodded, a smile crawling its way across his face. He clearly had no miserable thoughts in his head. Like most Firekin he hungered for the thrill of the fight. To shed the blood of those who had destroyed his family.

Ripuka.

And...the golden one.

"Ready." He answered simply.

Kinagiri had spent the time Hakan and Rap were around pretending to be someone else, or pretending not to be her entire self, ignoring her seer abilities and just being.. normal. She was managing to keep her muddle of thoughts and feelings to their least upsetting, at least for now. Jino had not come back through the night, she assumed that was out of some kind of respect for them.. he'd be back shortly after they left, she was sure of that.

She had waited a few minutes after the boys were up before she got herself up and walked out to see them. Hakan looked a little more restless than Rap but they both looked ready. There wasn't anything she felt she could or ought to say, though, so she only stood back, smiling at them.

With a stern nod, Hakan turned back to see Kinagiri emerging to see them. To...say goodbye. It was such a...a terrible word but, it was better to say it than to not say it at all.

He turned to meet her and pressed his muzzle to her neck, breathing in deeply as if to imprint her scent to his memory.

He couldn't speak. Didn't know what to say.

"Bet you're looking forward to some peace and quiet, aren't you, Kina?" Rap grinned, moving towards them. Seemingly he had plenty of words to paw when need be. He never was much for silence.

"Come on, don't look glum. We'll be back before she even notices you are gone, Hakan."

He glanced around, as if to see where Jino was, and seemed to be glad that the snake was nowhere in sight. It wasn't what the snake had said that had annoyed Rap. It was what he hadn't said. Stupid tricksy serpent.

She smiled at him when he came up and pressed against her. She waited a moment before nuzzling him and forcing his nose away from her with her own, smiling at him encouragingly. She completely intended to stick with her forceful focus on a positive future, attitude alone could make a huge difference, she knew that.

Still smiling, she lifted her head up and looked to Rap.

"It'll be too quiet without you, especially if Jino keeps grumbling to himself like he has been," she shook her head, following Rap's glance, wondering if that was what he was looking for. She fully expected to get a lecture of some kind once Jino got back, perhaps even an argument because she had invited the pair of lions back.

He smiled back, drawing strength from that and pulled himself up to full height, breathing in deeply so that his sides expanded momentarily.

"Especially without you, Rap, with your loud mouth." He snorted, whiskers twitching. "Hopefully Jino won't be so bad when we're out of the picture." Or not...if the snake knew they were coming back.

It wasn't as if he was going to see the back of them. Not if he had anything to do with it.

"You remember where we plan to meet, Kina?" He asked.

"There's nothing wrong with talking." Rap mumbled, childlike in his behaviour. "Better than listening to silence."

He snorted, glancing back at them with clear impatient there, though he kept those thoughts to himself. He knew he shouldn't rush them. Not when they'd just found one another.

Kina smiled over to Rap when Hakan called him a loud mouth, then looked back to Hakan, shaking her head, "Don't worry about him, Jino will come around." She might let him get away with a lot normally but she was a lot larger than him and a big part in how he survived so comfortably. She could make him behave himself better.

"I remember," she said with a nod, "I won't forget, we don't have anywhere to go, we'll be waiting here." She smiled again, glancing over to Rap and his impatient mien.

He relaxed, knowing that in the couple of days it would take them to reach the desert, he'd need to get back into the frame of mind he had been before he had met Rap. He'd need to conjure that old fighting spirit he'd neglected to use except when necessary or when training Rap.

But this wouldn't be training.

He flexed his claws into the dirt and, with a quick breath, took a few steps and increased the gap between them, moving to stand next to the orange Firekin. "It shouldn't take us more than three days to get there from here, so long as the weather conditions in the desert hold. We should be back within a week. Perhaps a little longer."

Depending on whether they were travelling back with injuries or not...

"Take care of yourself, Kina. And, if that snake of yours doesn't cheer up, just give him a good cuff. That'll soon sort him out."

He grinned, gave his companion a playful shove and, with that, turned and loped off, trusting Hakan to follow after him.

"See you later!"

"Alright," she said, smiling at the idea it could be only a week before they come back again. That would not be long at all, unless all she did was wait around obsessively.. but she could keep herself busier than that, surely.

"You take care of yourselves and each other," she said, smiling at Rap as he grinned at her-- and then looking back to Hakan as Rap turned and started off.

"I mean it," she said, though still smiling at Hakan, "I'll see you in about a week, then."

Only a week.

Not long in the grand scheme of things, but Hakan already knew it would be the longest week of his life.

He threw her a smile and, with a nod, took a few steps back. Part of him wanted to tell her there and then. That he loved her. That she meant everything to him. But it was too soon for that. Far too soon. Besides, it'd give him something to really fight for out there.

"See you in a week." He agreed, and he turned and followed after Rap, not daring to look back.

Kina kept on smiling as she nodded to Hakan and then watched him go, standing very still and not moving away again until she couldn't see them anymore. She was only vaguely aware of the sound of Jino reappearing almost immediately after they were gone, but she wasn't surprised when she saw him there behind her when she finally turned away. Jino didn't look very happy but she still smiled at him, stubbornly refusing to worry even now that she had been left alone.
