Nalani was still keeping watch, but she had decided to rest her legs for a bit rather than continuing the rounds. And where better to lay down than next to the warm hulk of feathered stallion?
It was hard to keep from giggling as an outstretching wing brushed across her back. She watched him for a moment behind inclining her head over to give one of his ears a light and affectionate n**. "Sleep well?"

Head rising sharply, Kratos glanced at her, a deep blush heating his cheeks. "I uh- I'm sorry. I woke you up?" Easier to avoid the question and the mare laying beside him. So that was why it was so warm. His ear flicked. Giving up, he nuzzled her gently. No telling what she had been through in the time she'd been away from her family. "I slept well, thanks. I- I didn't mean to wake you, too, though..."

Nalani shook her head. "You didn't wake me up. I was the watch guard, remember?" She returned the nuzzle happily, content to relax a bit now that the stallion was awake once more. "So, have any interesting dreams~?" She didn't always remember her dreams herself, but they could be quite fun when she did. So many strange adventures to be had in the world of sleep.

"No, not really. Not that I can remember, anyway." Kratos smiled sheepishly. "I think I was up too long. Better now, though." He fixed her with an intent look. "We won't find your family if we're waiting here, after all." It would go so much faster flying, but he was still tired, and he didn't want to leave her alone. She could take care of herself well enough - she'd proven as much. But he didn't like the thought of her having to go it alone when she didn't have to.
"You have a brother and a sister, right? And a mom and dad?" He didn't make any move to get up. It was far too comfortable and far too warm to move.

Nalani looked over at Kratos with mild surprise when he mentioned searching for her family. "Yes, a brother, sister, mom, and dad, but you wish to help me search for them?" It was a very sweet thought and gesture, but... somehow she wasn't so sure of their chances of success. "I appreciate the though, but... I've had no success at all. How do you suppose we might have a chance at finding them, even teamed together? The forest is vast." It was a discouraging prospect really, and who was to say they were even still in the forest? What if they had moved on elsewhere by now? It had certainly been long enough.

Kratos listened to Nalani with a soft smile, then shook his head gently. "Nalani, they are somewhere. Where ever they've gone, we will find them." His expression widened to a grin. "Besides, you found me again, right? And I'm just some old stranger that keeps happening on you in the woods." He nipped at her ears playfully, tone turning serious. "The world isn't that vast, and they're out there somewhere. Besides, who's to say they're not looking for you, too?"

"Hm, I suppose that is true," she replied ear flicking lightly from the n**. She smiled at the thought. It would be so wonderful to find her family again... "If we find them, would you stay with us a while?" Nalani asked. She would hate to see Kratos go again so soon after all. He made for rather nice company and was quite kind. She was certain she could turn her father more in favor of him, despite any 'designs' he might be said to have.

"Of course I will, Nalani. Now," Kratos forced himself up with a soft sound. They could bed down again later. "We won't find them if we sit around here chewing our cud." Leaning down, he nosed her to follow suit. But where to even start looking? It had been a long time from what she'd said. They could be anywhere now. Couldn't let her know. Well, that was a nice smell. Were they supposed to smell this nice?

"Alright, alright," Nalani replied, standing up to her feet at the stallion's coaxing. "Hm... Where to look... Say, you wanna have a race?" she asked playfully. They could easily keep an eye out for her family even while running. Plus they would be able to cover more ground that way.

The stallion laughed softly. "Sure, we can race. Good luck beating me, though." He'd had plenty of experience running. More than enough. In fact, Nalani didn't quite seem the type that would have run from as much as he did. Probably way out of practice. Other Kirin, weird raven creatures (he shuddered faintly), foals, bunnies with strange bubbling at the corners of their lips. Yeah. He had this one, hands down. Or maybe the point was in running, itself. He mused that a moment. But why would anyone run when they didn't have to? Turn their flanks to the theoretical enemy. Those bunnies popped up everywhere.

It was true, the winged stallion had a much better chance of winning at the race than Nalani did, although she certainly had no idea just how 'experienced' of a runner he really was. Win or lose, however, the race was sure to be fun, and Nalani was looking forward to it. "I'll do my best!" She answered with a cheerful grin, very much looking forward to this. "So, shall we set a goal, or simply run until one of us gives up?"

"Hmmm," Kratos favored her with a thoughtful glint in his eyes. "I think I saw a waterfall when I was coming in. It's not that far away from us, so we won't tire ourselves out." He ruffled his wings, then looked off. After that they could take it easy. Didn't want to miss a sight or scent. He grinned lightly. "C'mon, let's get out of here." He turned and bolted, wings tucked tightly to his body.

"The waterfall works then," she said with a nod. As soon as Kratos gave the signal, Nalani took off. The mare was quickly surprised to see just how fast her stallion companion actually was. Even in the beginning here she was already starting to fall behind. Fortunately her smaller frame was more agile, so she was at least having an easier time weaving through trees and brush than the other much larger Kirin. If the forest remained thick till they got to the waterfall then she might stand a chance.
