It wasn't the same, she had to remind herself of that, but there was still a pang of guilt as the wasps' muffled buzzing reached her slightly flattened ears. She tilted her head to one side, watching as the patchy male backed away and observed his handiwork. They were just insects, right? She shook her head slightly, as if doing so physically would chase away the strange thoughts filling her mind.
She returned his bashful smile with a light one of her own, just barely revealing her slightly yellowed fangs.
"All clear, it seems. Good in the end, no more little boo-boos for the little ones, nope. Or for the big ones, for that matter. Are you alright? What must you do next? And, uhm," she paused for a moment, searching for her words, "can I help?" There was almost a guilt, as he went about the dirty work and she watched.

He rolled back to his haunches, keeping an ear trained on the dirt pile to listen for any angry escapees, and lifted up each forepaw in turn to investigate the swelling stings. He wrinkled his nose, then set his paws back down and smiled at her. "Oh, there is no need," he said, hurriedly.
It's not that he didn't want the help, but he was afraid that if a Sister showed such kindness that it would be viewed as weakness, and she seemed far too delicate to stand up for herself against one of the stronger personalities within the pack.
"I think I'm quite ready to take a break for the moment, actually. But...we can talk awhile, if you'd like." He offered an uncertain smile, not quite sure of how dangerous the ground he treaded was.
