Tili moved with more caution as well as they approached the fallen rocks, placing her steps with care. She was fairly certain that no harm would befall them from the rocks, but even so, it was best to be safe. There seemed to be a strange atmosphere to the place that made her want to proceed in near-silence, as if it was a place to pay respects, and not a place to disturb.

"I would like to find out more," she said softly, peering about her. "I wonder how they survived right after the earthquake. They must have been split into groups, like we were, right?" Somehow, she couldn't imagine that the majority of the pride had managed to stay together in the confusion that had accompanied the earthquake.

"What do you think this looked like before all this?" She added, turning to face a rock, before glancing upwards to where it might once have rested.

"I'd imagine so. With all the panic and the rocks seperating people..." She shook her head. "I expect there were lots of groups like us, all across the lands. Perhaps there's even some more who haven't shown up yet. Others like us...trying to find the path back home..."

She paused, looking up. "Hard to place everything back in the way it should be. Greener, maybe. Grass and plants growing amongst them. Nesting places for the avians..." Now the rocks looked out of place, leaving gaping, jagged marks in the valley-side where they had once rested. It was almost as if some great beast had used the valley side to sharpen his claws.

"It...it seems sad. The whole valley..." She blinked, glancing back at her friend. "I think we're very much needed here, Tilifika. We need to put some joy back into these lands."

"They'll make it back," Tili said determinedly, staring into the distance as she wondered just how many of them were left out there, struggling to return as their own group had done. "If we could do it, then they can too." And she believed every word. She had only recently realized how much they had all struggled against the odds to survive - not being crushed by the falling rocks had been but the beginning. Pushing through injuries and losses, especially with a young one like herself, who hadn't much recognized the gravity of the situation, was nothing short of a miracle. She owed her very life to Sikivu and the others, she now knew, and she would spend the rest of it doing her best to repay them for everything they had done.

"It just needs to heal," the pink lioness said softly, thinking back to a greener time, when everything had been flowers and rainbows and puffy clouds in the sky. And perhaps one day, it could all go back to the way it was. It would always be different, but Jahina was right. If they restored some happiness and cheer back into the land, perhaps it would regain some of its old vitality.

"A new mission then, huh?" She tilted her head, watching the rocks with soft baby blue eyes. "We can do it, you know. Bring some joy back. I think, in a way, we already have a little bit, just by coming home. It's like... there's hope left for any of us that are still out there, you know?"

"You're right, Tili. Nothing can stop a lion from getting home if he wants to. You've just got to want it enough. That's all."

She nodded, stepping carefully over another section of fallen rock and then leaving the path and moving out onto the grass which was cool and spongy underfoot. "An new mission." She agreed. "One of many." She laughed at that. "We certainly are going to be busy, Tili! It's not just cheering up Chewy any more. We're going to be cheering up the whole pride! Or anyone who needs it, anyway. Maybe we should recruit!"

She smiled, turning to face her friend and nodding eagerly. "Yes. I think you're right. Hope can go a long way to lifting spirits." It warmed her to think of the affect that their homecoming would have on everyone here. Perhaps there were still lions here waiting on loved ones to appear after all this time. Lions and lionesses thought dead, returning against all odds, alive and unharmed.

"There is always hope."

"That's a good idea, Jah, we should recruit!" She said enthusiastically. Yes, and they could gather a little band of joy-spreaders and they would all infuse this place with a little more cheer. It would be good - for the valley, and the pride, and themselves. They all just needed something to concentrate on, something to help them forget the terrible memories that had come with the earthquake.

Tili cast a sideways glance at her friend. Yes, Jahina was right about that as well. There would always be hope. Were they not living, breathing proof of that? "Yea," she said softly. "The sun always rises again, right? The bad can't last forever." And ultimately, it was the good, or at least the notion of good, that kept them all going.

But it was not only hope for the lost that she was thinking about. It was hope for herself, too. Pisha and Jahina had both gone a long way in reassuring the pink lioness, but for the first time, she felt optimistic about her return to the pride. She would find something here that would remind her of her childhood, and she would feel that old connection flooding back into her with each rekindled memory.

And life would be good - so very good. She would just have to give it a little bit of time.
