Roy watched the scene from a distance, leaning against one of the walls of one of the buildings on the inside of the outer wall that protected Archesis. It seemed like everything was going well. Maybe they could avoid a s-

...

Okay, maybe not. Thanks a lot, jackass. The redhead scowled as one of the Estarcian soldiers suddenly took a Spear and threw it at a man in blue armor. And then there was a splash of red from the soldier that threw the weapon. Probably slit his throat or something. Well, that was just ******** great.

The swordsman sighed and shook his head. Seems like a battle was inevitable now. Oh well...at least with this, Roy could have another shot against that swordmistress with the ice sword.

The Archaneans were now making their way in, the Sages breaking down the walls and destroying catapults and other long range weaponry with Meteor or Bolting spells. Going out now while these spells were going was almost suicidal. Once the foot soldiers started making their way in though...

Alright. It seemed like the enemy was starting to pour into the city to begin their close-range assault. Roy retreated a little bit so he could work with his allies. Once he reached them, he unsheathed the Flame Sword.

"Magic users, aim your attacks at the first wave. Archers, assist the magic users. Rest of you, move in after the long range units attack." he shouted a command.

With the fire sword, Roy would assist with the long range units before switching to his close range weapon to help out the melee units. Whether or not they would actually listen to him though was another story. After all, who would follow a brat's orders?

But it seemed like one of the Estarcian negotiators had already issued orders. And it wasn't likely that the enemy would just come through on one side of the city. If the southern end was this fortified, maybe he should go to one of the other locations to help out.

Nevertheless...

Fire sprouted around his sword before he swung, the attack bursting near a swordmaster, who suddenly caught on fire. If he would flail and run into his allies to spread the fire, more power to the Learanian/Estarcian group.

It was happening again. It was happening again. The General was quick to react, dodging the spear to where it would only clang uselessly against his heavy armor, and then the man killed himself on the spot. Why? Why would this happen? The horses around them all seemed to prickle, looking for something Esmeralda couldn't see, and then the General was shouting, his cursed axe already in his hands.

"Legion solders! Destroy them! Let those "Learanian" captives watch as their friends perish before them!"

Esmeralda gritted her teeth. To have been subjected to this a second time... She was reaching for her bow when she saw just how surprised Cyric looked. Well, it was less surprise and more... terror. He was just as unprepared for this course of action as she was.

What is going on here?

There wasn't time to talk to him. No one was willing to talk now. Their only option was to fight; the General... Caesar... was already wanting more blood on the ground. Their captives were being kept back, away from the fighting, and... and what was this accomplishing? The Estarcians still had the Fire Emblem, did they not? If they simply crushed everyone, then wouldn't that be destroyed, too? And no one to help them... Gods, no, this was wrong!

Antonio was ready to attack. Esmeralda couldn't leave him, he'd get hurt, he could get killed... She drew her bow from her back, readied an arrow, and let loose a single gilded arrow high in the sky. It wasn't intended for fighting; it was another sign for her men, in case the messenger was not quick enough. Another regular arrow came out just as quickly as the first, and she looked at Cyric with wide, confused eyes before firing the projectile just past his ear, aimed for the soldier standing behind him.

Neil, meanwhile, recognized the signal for what it was, and he lifted his sword high. "The fight begins! Above all, protect your own! There are people waiting for us in Archanea!" Esmeralda's battalion of archers roared, and the sky rained steel upon the Learanians.

As long as I live. . . .

I shall protect the ones I love.

~Caterina~

------

Wasn't this exchange suppose to end? Why was there a soldier attacking!? Oh no, this...this was much worse. Before Caterina had the time to think, Cyric had grabbed her hand and started pulling her toward the others. She shrieked a little when the Estarcia Captain pulled her close, covering her from arrows and after a moment they were up on their feet again.

Safely on Adara, Rina took off into the skies. High enough where she was safe from arrows. She could still see everyone else below her, watching their every movement. Once they reached the castle, Rina landed on a roof-top where several other Pegasus and Falcon Knights were standing, waiting for their orders. Rina looked at each and every one of them. "Take to the skies!" she cried. "We fight back, but be cautious. The Priestess is still with them!" Defending the city was the most they could do. The orders given, the Priestess Guardian returned to Adara, mounting and spurring the pegasus into flight, the others following.

She returned to Cyric's side, who seemed calm as ever. However, she knew the truth; he was far from calm. Out of everyone in Estarcia, he was probably the most furious one standing on the very castle gate.

"Remember what I said earlier?"

Rina looked over at Cyric, his bow drawn with an arrow attached. She watched him for a moment and he looked at her.

"Don't stray from my side...I..would like us both to survive this."

His startement was followed with a smile and Caterina could do nothing but respond with a small, weak smile. "Never, I will stay by your side, always." She readied the javelin in her hand, raising it above her shoulder, preparing for her own counter. Let us teach these boys and girls to never mess with Estarcia!

After heading toward the castle and dodging attacks, the paladin and the others had entered the castle. It seemed that Cornelius had sounded the alarm when they entered the castle. Well, there was nothing they could do about it. Thanked to the foolish soldier, they were forced to battle.

She heard Cyric giving out the commands, ordering those to prepare for battle before talking to her.

"Of course, I'm always prepared myself." Isadora replied as she turned her mount around and unsheathed her sword. It wasn't as if she hadn't gone to battle before. In fact, she had gone to battle that was quite worse than this.

"You heard the order!" Isadora shouted to the Learanian soldiers and those who came. "Prepare yourself for battle. Those who are injured, hide yourself and tend your wounds. Those in the front line, hold your ground and don't let them enter. Now then, charge!"

Tuomas let out a neigh as he stood on his hind legs before galloping into the battlefield. Even though they had lost battles from the previous, this battle would not be won by their enemy. They would have to do everything that they could to make sure that they won.

Lo there, do I see my mother, my sisters and brothers,
Lo there, do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning
Lo, they do call to me, they bid me take my place among them.

Beatrix

-------------------

Beatrix was less than pleased; after the high of her victory had worn off, staggering reports of troop losses had come in. Thanks to Vaida's wyvern forces, virtually all of her soldiers who had not been garrisoned inside the cathedral had been lost, well over half of her entire force. After holding the point, her highest lieutenant was also out of commission, too badly injured to join the battle. Karlov was being carried at the back of the battalion since they had abandoned Restia, leaving its citizens unharmed; Beatrix and her fellows had been unable to discern the purposes of most of the artifacts, and had left them as well.

Her troops, following the orders Beatrix had received, were now marching south through the forest, and rapidly approaching the capitol of Archesis. At the edge of the wood, Beatrix urged Horsie forward and stepped up onto the edge of a ridge there. Looking out into the distance, she could see pegasi flying in circles, diving and rising up again. Another battle! "Right!" she cried, lifting her Physic staff and pointing to the city. "Everyone, move in and support General Caesar!" The column quickly began to move once again, pouring down the cliff and marching for the city at top speed. Nonetheless, they were still quite a way from Archesis-- it would be half an hour before Beatrix' main force could possibly join in, leaving the Archanean forces with few healers until then.

Beatrix trotted Horsie to the back of the column, where several of her older priests were busy with the sick and injured. They had already made a fire, and Karlov was sitting beside it, bandaged and hunched. "Captain... I am sorry I won't be able to join you," he murmured as Beatrix dismounted.

"Nonsense," she cooed, stroking his hair. "We'll be just fine. I need you to rest so that you can ride up front when we return home. Alright?"

He offered her a tired smile in return, sitting back and looking up at her. "Very well, Captain. I shall await news of your victory."

Minutes later, Beatrix charged out of the woods once again, driving Horsie to his limits to catch up with her battalion.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. "Aw s**t... here we go." Vaida moaned, as she saw Isadora, the Esstarcian commander, and the pegasus rider riding back to the castle. In truth, she was kind of happy. No, she didn't want things to go rotten, but now that they had, there was no reason to not cut loose and enjoy herself. She had taken the time to prepare all of Learania's troops. Needles was ordered to the wall to command the archers and Deborah would fight on the front lines. Vaida didn't care if she didn't like that, she was useful there and as a subordinate, she had to obey. (BAM.) They would shine in this battle and bring victory... or Umbriel would have a very nice meal.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The wyvern brigade was ready. They had all restocked on javelins, and those who were still in good enough health to fight were mounted and waiting behind Commander Vaida, for her order. Captain Deborah had given news that the invaders no longer had any air units, so that was always a relief. It put Mihira at ease, especially. Aside from archers, other air units were the biggest worry.

However, something else was bringing the scout's spirits down. She had heard that the captives the enemy had were the ones at the abandoned fort; the base they had made for healing troops. The pegasus rider that Mihira had spent a little time with before they went out to war was with that group. She thought she was finally making a friend, and then now the friend had been taken captive. "Charice..." If by fighting, Mihira could somehow save the captives, then she would do so. She didn't want her only friends to be the faceless anymore.

Vaida perked up, once the negotiators were inside. It was time to get going, but she needed the okay to do so from Isadora. The wyvern lord smirked, when the crew member suddenly shouted out. She had some fire in her, after all. And here Vaida thought the girl was just a prissy noble, dressing up to look pretty for the public. She figured the paladin would stay back during this battle, but it looked like she was going to be in the front lines. "Well, well, I guess we'll see what you've got." She mumbled to herself. Vaida turned and called out to her brigade. "Alright soldiers, you heard her! To the sky!! We'll dim their numbers so the ground forces don't get overcome!" Vaida lashed the reigns on Umbriel, signaling the beast to spread out her large black wings and begin to flap. "For the Guard.. and Learania!"

The brigade took off and soared into the sky. Vaida led them forward, right toward Caesar's army. They were the closest and right now, the biggest threat. They looked to be heavily armored units mostly, but that didn't matter. The javelins would take care of the horses among them and then the mighty winged beasts would swoop in to shatter the armor.

"Prepare spears! ...FIRE!" At the command, the wyvern riders began to throw their weapons. Heavy armor would block well, but the steeds some of them brought were vulnerable. Plus, it would be a decent distraction for them. With their lead commander unable to concentrate, communication would not exist. Speaking of that general, Vaida spotted him proceeding along with his other troops. It was easy to tell who he was by the difference in armor. And look, he had his own little group watching out for him. A sage, a sniper and a... Wyvern rider. Wait, this seemed too convenient. It was reported that the enemy had captains that fit the description of these people around the general. Could there really be three captains with the general? They must have come along to be at the exchange. Well... looks like there was an opportunity to get rid of four birds with one stone, this time.

Vaida raised her crimson spear, then slashed downward, sending out a blast of dark magic straight for where the four commanders were.

The Silent Blade
____________________________________________

"Captain!" Lorenzo called, appearing behind the silent swordmistress as she looked beyond toward the battlefield. Beatrix had moved ahead, clearing a way for her to move in when she was needed. She turned to the assassin, eyeing him a bit before looking forward once more. Milan knew exactly what her assassin assitant was going to say. Her troops however, were badly injured and those with her could barely even stand. Would they be enough? Surely they could hold out their own, after all. They were Milan's troops. She turned, looking at them once more and leaned forward, kicking off dirt as she dashed toward her general.

The closer she got, the more she realized just how chaotic things have gotten in her absence. General Caeser was....less than himself. However, her loyalty stood by him no matter how bad things had gotten. The swordmistress ran past him, leaving a small howl through the winds, letting her General know that she was here and ready.

Fire...there was fire around here. The swordmistress looked up, taking note of the boy she clashed swords with earlier. So he was here too huh? To be expected..Milan would have his head this time for sure...she would guarantee it...no interruptions..no interferance. The boy was hers.

Milan drew her ice blade, stopping mid-way in her tracks to shoot an ice needle toward that boy she was fighting earlier before they were interrupted. Once she got his attention, she stood still. Her left hand raised to her shoulder, hand motioning for him to come at her. This time, they would finish this. Should anybody interfere, Milan would send Lorenzo at them.

The assassin knew that look in the captain's eyes. An sly grin formed across his lips and he nodded in agreement. The swordmistress did not even need to say anything and her right-hand man could already tell what his boss was trying to tell him. All the better, least he would have some action to anybody who tries to get in their way.

The swordmistress handed him her silver sword, her blue, icy blade was enough for this match. Milan stood a little far off from the chaos, slight wind blowing against her as she waited for the boy to make his first move.

Steel clashed against steel, and with a successful parry Roy finished off another mercenary unit. Just as he was about to turn and move to help out one of the Estarcian groups, ice needles flew for him.

The Steel Sword was dropped and the Flame Sword was drawn, flames already erupting from the blade upon being held. With a swing, the ice melted, and it was just water that splashed against the ground in front of him. Those ice needles...so, she showed up at last, huh?

Roy glanced towards where the attack had come from, and sure enough...there she was. It was like she was beckoning for him to come fight her, what with that hand motion and all. The redhead smirked before he charged forward towards her.

Their fight had already been put off once. If someone dared to interfere, he would give them a blazing death worse than the one he gave to Feo months ago.

The swordsman already knew he would have a hard time keeping up with her speed, but that was last time. With the Speed wings he had used at the end of their last battle (after they were so rudely interrupted by the Skittles Brigade), maybe...maybe he could keep up.

He was close now. "Sorry to keep you..." he took one last step with his left foot, weapon ablaze. "WAITING!" he swung from the ground up, flames reaching out to touch the icy swordmistress. And without even waiting to see if she had moved, he spun on his left foot, delivering a fiery spin attack as a warning to let her know she wasn't going to get close that easily.

((That first move's kinda like his Up+B attack in SSBM, minus the lift into the air.))

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~Finally a way home was almost in their grasp. If the exchange went according to plan, they could at last see Archanean soil once again. Felix and his cavalry waited south-west of the Estarcian capital for good news. Sadly that was not the case when one of the messengers told them to raise their weapons against the underhanded enemy in front of them. The captain sighed in disappointment as he passed on the orders and battle plans to his troops. Deep down he didn’t wish to fight again, but he made a vow to follow General Caesar’s commands. He respected his superior officer no matter what. His loyalty wouldn’t falter.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~A fortified city such as this was bound to have strong siege weapons. To charge now without any point of entry would only be throwing away the precious lives of their remaining soldiers. Instead the horsemen waited for Antonio’s sages to create holes in the walls with their acquired long ranged magic. The horses scattered in the surrounding forest in order to become harder to hit by the catapults and bolting spells. As soon as there were openings, the cavalry moved out in six waves. Until it was their turn to charge into Archesis, they stayed hidden among the trees.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~The first division was made of mostly heavily armored Great Knights. They rushed the entrances created by their comrades. Unfortunately some were lost to well-aimed rocks and magic. Once within the walls the first wave began to clear a path for the second.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~Leading the second wave was the Legion’s very own Cerulean Champion. This regiment consisted of Paladins and Cavaliers. They lost fewer men than the previous wave because most of the attacks were concentrated on their swift leader. Joel had easily dodged all that tried to bring him down. That was a skillfully trained warhorse’s purpose. When they reached their goal, Felix and his small battalion went to work at removing Estarcian threats. Like all his other battles, the captain used the reverse side of his lance to knock opponents out cold.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~Next the third brigade made up of Great Knights and Cavaliers mobilized following their superior officer, Lieutenant Garet. Yet again their numbers were thinned out slightly. The lieutenant cursed the siege weapons under his breath. His fellow ranking soldier from Antonio’s squadron, Bale, wasn’t destroying those things fast enough. In the back of the Great Knight’s mind, he hoped the next wave would suffer fewer casualties. Isaac would be in charge of that one.

LANCELOT

Surprisingly, Lancelot had been quiet since his talk with Caesar. Even during the exchange, not a word came out of him. Even when things got ugly, he didn't react. He was fed up with this, with everything. He did his job, but at every move he got yelled at! Where was the respect? He sure as hell did a lot more than Caesar did, that's for sure. But did Lancelot call him out on it? No, of course not. The General would be the one that would take all the glory.

It was always he who got the praise for all the work the captains did. But that's part of being a soldier, after all. So long as Lancelot was able to continue fighting, he didn't give a s**t how much lime light Caesar let hit him. In truth, he probably wouldn't be allowed to do so much with anybody else as a commander. That was why he stayed. And it meant that Caesar had to be protected.

Lancelot looked up in the sky as the wyverns sailed about in the wind. He could not send his own army, he knew that, but the urge to fly out was tremendous. But all of a sudden some mystical wave came blasting down from some rider's weapon! Blasted magic... what a dirty trick!

He looked at Caesar and saw that he was oblivious to the oncoming damnation. Esmerelda was busy making sure her precious brother was all well and good. And speaking of that brat, he probably had the power to negate the magic with his own dirty spells. But, even if he did see it, he didn't have time to conjure up his hocus pocus to do anything about it. That left... Lancelot, himself. He was already mounted. He had the ability... looked like it was up to him.

He gestured for Mordred to take off and the beast launched into the sky. "Don't ever say I didn't do anything for you, General!!" He called out, giving no notice for what he was going to do. He took out his spear and held the tip up. His battle cry was like the roar of a charging lion. The dark surge flew into him and he used his spear to split the attack down the middle. He had steered Mordred so she she was below the blast and he took the brunt of it.

The blast was long and powerful. Lancelot could feel his armor chipping away, being devoured by the darkness. But his move was successful. The attack split and crashed to both sides of the three Archanean leaders below him, instead of crashing into them.

Lancelot breathed heavily and winced. His hands were shaking, but he didn't care; it was a miracle he could still use them. The healers had treated him again, but they had told him he was still in no shape for battle. Like they knew what he could do and not do! Only he, only Lancelot would decide what he was capable of doing.

When the smoke that steamed off of his armor cleared, it would be to everybody's surprise that his helmet was gone. The force of the blast had knocked it off. His cape was tattered even more than what it was. He was unmistakably an experience, battle-weary warrior. And he was not done, yet. Lancelot looked up at the one who fired the blast and saw a woman. A woman. Like she would be better than him! He was wounded, but he could still fight- and he would, to the bitter end! "Bring it on, b***h!"

The Silent Blade

So this was it, the invitation was sent it was very well accepted. This was the first time in years where Milan's body was filled with adrenaline. Since last time, she had been looking forward to this battle for quite some time and now, the swordmistress has that chance.

They fought for their side, with reasons. Both parties, were not going down that easily. Milan saw him coming, he'd gotten quicker. At least this would be much more of a challenge then last time. But the question was, can he still keep up? She'd have to play with him a bit to find out, wouldn't she? This battle would be short, Milan would make sure of that. She was not one to delay on her fights, especially if this was the finale.

That sword came close to her, if it wasn't for her blade taking the strike, she probably would have lost something. Huh, he's smarter then the swordmistress thought him to be. Indeed she underestimated him just a bit.

However, that was probably a stupid move for the boy to make. She flipped her blade to the flat side, encaged in its own ice, she used it to extinguish part of his flames. That attack he made however, has left him wide open. Milan spun back a few steps and as the boy was recovering from his own attack, she charged at him, flat end of her blade knocking him straight in the stomach. She charged again, barely giving him enough time for recovery.

The boy was much quicker than last time. Each swung she gave, it was easily repelled by that fire blade of his. Interesting, this would be very interesting. That all he had? Surely no. The swordmistress stepped back, then forward to slice the air in front of her. Icicles formed from her blade and flew straight toward her opponent.

s**t. That was a little reckless of him. He left himself momentarily open after the spin attack, and the swordmistress took that moment to charge in to hit him. Fortunately, it was with the flat side of the blade. While it did knock the wind out of him, he was fortunate that she didn't try to impale him or something, because that would have bad.

He used the momentum of the hit to move back a little, then jumped back a little more after his initial recovery landing to put a little distance between the two of them and give him enough to block.

Each of her attacks was deflected, blocked, or otherwise parried. Good...he could keep up with her this time. But was this really her normal speed, or was she still holding back? Well...these first few strikes were a warm-up anyway.

She jumped back, and he took one step backwards. If she was going to put distance, then...yeah, there it was. The woman had swung her sword, and icicles formed around her weapon before charging for him. He countered with a well-timed explosion from his sword at where her icicles were, just a few feet in front of him. Roy then charged at full speed through the leftover flames (mere embers) and smoke caused by the explosion before he swung horizontally at the woman, flames covering the entirety of the blade. Even if she blocked, she wasn't going to escape without sustaining some moderate burns. The slash covered the possibility of her dodging through the side, and the flames could probably reach her even if she did react fast enough to jump back.

>x-{Leon}-x<

User ImageIt had been forever since Leon made his daring escape. He'd spent days shaking the Archanean scouts off his trail, and by the time he was alone, the young man was lost. Lost and alone, with only Anri as company. Boy, this sure felt familiar. "Just like the old days, Anri..."

After they were alone, horse and rider wandered and wandered. They would have never been able to find the battlefield in which this great clash between Estarcians and Archaneans if not for those ever familiar sounds of war that both knew so well. The clash of metal and metal... the flare of fire spells, and the shouts of warrior's battle cries were all signs. It was time to stop wandering, and time to fight. Somewhere on that battlefield, Leon's friends were being held as hostages. He had to free them, no matter what. "Let's go, Anri." he said.

The steed reared up in excitement, before making a charge towards the gate of the Estarcian castle. Much to the relief of the Watch Lieutenant, a familiar person was guarding the entrance to the castle. "Milady Isadora! I can see quite the brawl's started!" The Great Knight smiled, just a little bit, before Anri rode alongside Toumas. The war horse seemed to greet the other with a small whinny. "Is everyone all right, Milady? I came as fast as I could! We gotta free Cap'n Ghis and the others... an' then we'll get the upper hand for sure!"

The war flickered outside Archesis gate. Those who were at the castle walls shoot out magic, arrows, and catapults across the sky. Along the wall, the guards were dropping boulders and burning oil to keep the enemies from climbing up. At the gates, foot soldiers, knights, and cavaliers were keeping the enemies from entering the gate. Among the group was Isadora, slashing the enemy across the chest with her sword.

Although the paladin was unsure how many armies did the enemy had, she knew for sure that they had to defend the castle. The Fire Emblem was now inside the building and they had to keep it away from the enemy. Therefore, she mustn't let the enemy enter.

As the Dame Knight blocked the swordsman's sword with her shield and countered with her sword, she heard someone calling out her name. Isadora looked around to see Leon charging toward her.

"Leon! Thank St. Elimine you're here." Isadora smiled. Tuomas let out a neigh as he tossed his head to greet.

"Most of the soldiers are alright." Isadora replied. "However, I don't know how long will we able to hold up."

When she listened to Leon about freeing the Watch and gain the upper hand, Isadora frowned a bit.

"Leon, we tried to save them through negotiation. However, a foolish soldier tried to attack the leader and killed himself, causing this war we are in right now. I'm very aware that we have to save them and defend this capital, but what do you mean by gaining the upper hand?"
