Matthias smiled, kissing her cheek as he hugged her. "Trust me, the surprise is worth it." he said, grinning. "Hmm....shall we go pick out the nursery furniture now?" he offered, thinking. "Since the kids are already out of the house and we have the time..." Odd, he didn't seem phased by his child's femaleness.

Risa returned the hug, but her smile seemed almost forced. What was Matthias up to? Why wouldn't he let her go with him? Why wasn't he telling her what he had planned? "Furniture shopping sounds fun," she agreed. "I was thinking an ocean theme, maybe we could put in an aquarium. Do you have any ideas?" Maybe she could distract him from going to see the Azoulais.

Matthias thought a moment. "I was thinking a forest theme, with majestic adders moving gracefully among the trees." he said, smiling as he thought of his childhood. "Perhaps we could do a forest/lake theme with nixies and nymphs?" he suggested, shrugging.

"A forest theme would be nice," Risa mused, before frowning slightly. "No adders, Matth," she said with a shudder. "They always seem to try and make me their next meal. Besides, giant snakes? They might frighten her." She paused and considered his next suggestion. Nixies? The annoying fae that put people into trances and attacked them? Nymphs? The more-than-annoying fae that flirted with every living being they set eyes on?
"Couldn't we do a normal nursery?" she asked. "One based on a fairytale, or maybe a jungle theme..."

"I was raised around adders. They aren't scary." Matth said, frowning. "They're beautiful creatures." Was he a bit offended? You bet! He sighed at her suggestion. "If we were having a normal child, maybe. But, none of our children are normal, so this one probably won't be either. She deserves a room as special as she is."

"They must not view you as their next meal," Risa muttered. "I don't know Matth, every time one of them was around me, it attacked." She paused, and frowned at him. Was he upset because she didn't trust adders? They were terrifying creatures! Giant snakes who acted more like dragons.
"Why not a flower fairy based nursery?" Risa suggested.

Matthias looked horrified at the suggestion of a flower fairy nursery. The horror! "Hmm.... perhaps a catacomb themed room with cute chibi-skeletons?" he suggested, trying to compromise via the chibi-ness. Maybe that'd be acceptable? He hopes so. "We could even put burial flowers."

Risa frowned, "I suppose we could," she said, with an edge of sarcasm to her voice. Catacombs? Honestly was that the best he could do? "If we never wanted Miles to go into her room. Let's go with a forest theme without the adders. Please. They bring up bad memories."

Matthias sighed. "Fine." he said, his tone laced with resignation. What was a forest without its mighty protectors. "Should we add sprout sprites and fairy dust to it?" Now he was the one being sarcastic, arms crossing. She may win this one, but that just meant his next victory had to be that much bigger.

Risa considered his suggestion seriously. "Hm, no," she mused. "I never liked sprout sprites, they're annoying. And fairydust..." she made a face. "How about a forest based off where we came from, hm? Without all the things that like trying to make me their lunch?"

Matthias shrugged. "Mine's chock full of predators and murderers, so perhaps one based off your homeland would be best." he said, already giving up design rights to her. He doubted they would agree, so might as well make her happy. He'd design the next room.

"Mine is too," Risa confessed. "Hm... Well, we could always do a story book forest theme," she mused. "Maybe with branches for shelves? That'd be cute. Maybe with some forest animals, birds, raccoons... What do you think?"

Matthias shrugged. "I'm sure it'd look...cute." He said the last word slowly, as if it were profanity. A child's room should looks majestic and awe-inspiring. Not cute and whimsical! "The shelves would be interesting." he offered, trying to look to the positive aspects.

Risa sighed, kissing Matth on the cheek. "Maybe a lake with nymphs," she said. "That'd be pretty. And maybe some trees surrounding the lake, for shelves." Why couldn't they get along when it came to nursery designs?

Matthias nodded, thinking about it. He was sure he could sneak a kelpie into the mix, or maybe old Jenny Greentooth? Hey, he could atleast try. "We could put ravens and crows in the tree branches along with fake leaves." he suggested, tapping his chin in thought.
