Delphia smiled and opened an arm out to the woods. "Those of you who offered to help with the watering come this way, and those of you who decided not to, class is over for you." She looked over to the class again, since her eyes were on the forest. "You can reach me at my office or my dorm, since they're actually both this little grass hut, laterr whenever you need me."

 Accalia shrugged and truste her things would be safe where she left them and watered any plants that were crying out for it. She glared at a few that were trying to make her do "favors" for them like make sure certain animals wouldn't relieve themselves on their flowers or leaves. "Sorry, but whether you like it or not I don't want any afters on my feet either." She told them a bit sharply as her bare feet squished the soft earth beneath them. Glancing around it seemed that no one else bothered to wait. All well, maybe one of the plants would say something usefull while she was watering them.

Delphia laughed at the plants. "I know, I know, you all want water and the like. Calm down, we're going as fast as we can, there's only the two of us." She looked over to Accalia as she watered the Banes, knowinig that letting a student take care of the most poisonous plants would be very uneithical. "I don't hear as much as you do, only plants. They've told me that you can hear just about everything."

Accalia sighed, "It's more annoying than anything..." She admitted with a sigh, "If I try to tune one out the other one sounds more clear. My parents tell me I shouldn't be able to hear anything let alone both animals and plants... sometimes I can even hear my grandmother who passed away not too long ago but that might only be because I miss her so much." She said quietly with a soft sigh. "At least I'll never be lonely this way right?" Accalia said with a weak laugh.

Accalia glanced at her wristwatch with a horrified eyes, "Ah, I think one of my other classes is starting now." She bowed to Delphia, "Please excuse me. I'm very sorry for not being able to finish... I need to figure out the time of this school better." She said, muttering to herself once she finished with the apology and rushed off with her things.

THIRD LESSON Rowan Sorbus aucuparia or Fraxina aucuparia  The rowan is a small tree closely identified with magic and spirituality in Northern lands. Its English name is related to the Sanskrit "runall" meaning "magician" and the Norse "runall" meaning "a charm." Rowan tree may also be understood to mean "run tree." Rune staves were traditionally carved from its wood. Rowan is also etymologically connected to "alruna," the name given to ancient Germanic prophetesses and magical practitioners. Another nickname for Rowan is "witch tree."
*In the Scottish Highlands, use of Rowan wood for any other reason but spiritual ritual was forbidden once upon a time.
*Celts in other regions made black dye for ritual robes from Rowan's bark and berries.
*Rowan trees were planted around or near stone circles.
*In Wales, rowan trees were planted to guard and protect the deceased.
*Cattle were driven through rowan hoops to generate fertility, break any malevolent spells, and offer protection.
Rowan trees weere so deeply inbedded in the spiritual fabric of Northern lands that their use couldn't be prevented; instead it was redirected. Rowan's most frequent modern magical usage to prevent witchcraft. Many will tell you that it's called "witch tree" beccause it prevents witchcraft. In fact, it's more the cases of "it takes one to know one." Rowan is one of those unusual plants that are simultaniously indentified with witchcraft and also allegedly protect against it. Rowan may be understood as possessing the power of a witch so powerful that she can negate all other spells cast.
Like other trees (but even more so), it is important not to harvest any part of it without first asking permission (and giving the tree a chance to refuse), and then offering libations and gifts in return.
*Rowan is identified with Brigid and her festival of Imbolc.
*Rowan is identified with the Norse deity Thor. As one of his sacred plants it was believed beneficial for ensuring virlity.
To this day rowan is planted near homes for spiritiual protection. The finest dowsing rods for locating metal are crafted from rowan. Rowan also contributes to intoxicating beverages: the berries were made into wine in the Scottish Highlands, the Welsh brew a rowan berry flavored ale and the Irish have used it to flavor mead.

Kalika walks into class.
"Umm, I'm sorry for just barging in like this......on second thought, no, I'm really not. I'm Kalika, a new student. Headmaster Zoje informed me that I could pick any class I like, which means you have another student to add to the roster, Prof. Delphia!" She takes a seat in the front row, her notes from all the lessons already copied in her notebook. She looks expectantly at the Professor, expecting either a welcome or a scolding of some kind.

Delphia smiled at the newcomer warmly. "Welcome to my class, my dear. And if you're ever late again, you get to take care of the Mandrake, and i can guarantee that they aren't very nice." She still had a warm smile and motioned her to take a seat in the warm grass in front of her grass hut where she taught her lessons, also serving as her office and dorm room.

"Ok, I'll be sure I'm not late again then," says Kalika, nervous of thought of taking care of the Mandrake. She sits down in the grass, setting her things down beside her. She looks up at the professor and waits for her to speak.

Accalia was taking notes quietly, nodding off slightly still feeling drained. Why is this school so weird? She wondered as she yawned. Didn't I have enough sleep? Enough food? Why are the plants telling me I didn't? Something's wrong with me but what? Rubbing her eyes as she muttered "Rowan..." Why did that name sound familiar? That's right... I've visited that place before haven't I? People were offering jewelry that they claimed had bits of that plant inside. My parents were about to get some but I told them the plants said they weren't that magical plant. Then everyone was mad... and I went to bed without supper... Accalia shook her head in hopes it would help herself stay awake. Her eyes clearly begging for sleep, but there was no time. School first. Have to make up for all of those mistakes.

"Ok then, so I will be absent for a few weeks in order to get some new plants for our garden so you would have more to go on and would be able to get real hands on experience with some of the more dangerous plants. Until then, I will be gone for 2 weeks, and you will not be able to come out here until I come back." Delphia smiled at her students and let them out of class.
