Gil looked down at her with an eyebrow raised before giving a shrug.
"My name is Gillian Brauhn. Lieutenant of the, apparently, only surviving U.S. Spec-Ops force." he said before tilting his head.
"...And the second condition..?"

"The second condition is, no one can throw me out because I'm useless and blind." Lottie said, looking away. Old habits.... "I'm not trekking miles and miles only to be told I'm not good enough, and tossed out on my arse. I won't do it." She wouldn't cry in self-pity. Lottie knew better. But she wasn't about to get her hopes up for nothing.

Lottie raised her eyebrows sceptically. "Tell that to the other groups on the road." Then she smiled, relived she actually wasn't being turned away this time. She liked having her head patted- it was nice to be near another human, who was kind, and made her feel like a kid. "By the way, I'm Charlotte, but the first person who call me that has to eat grilled rat for supper. Just call me Lottie."

Gil blinked for a moment.
"...Grilled rat...Lovely..." he said, rolling his eyes and leading her out into the street towards where the Sub was.
"Let's get going, Miss Lottie."

"Sure thing." Lottie pulled her pack up, settling it better on her shoulders. She followed his steps as best as she could, but, even so, often was tripped up by rubble. She'd learned how to keep her balance, though. "Where are we?"

"Well, if you could see, I would act like a tour guide, saying things like 'If you look to your left, you'll see rubble. And if you look to your right, you'll find MORE rubble!'." he said in a joking manner.
"But at the moment, we're on a road that leads toward the harbor.
"...Unfortunately, we have a few miles ahead of us..."

Lottie laughed. "So I'm on a highway? And.... why isn't the rest of your group coming with us?" She had wondered why she could only hear two people walking.

"The others are helping at the Harbor, and are making sure no one hostile raids it...We kinda figured some people would go insane or something when this happens...Goes with ANY apocalypse theory...ZOMBIE Apocalypse...WEATHER Apocalypse...Religious FANATIC Apocolypse...And so on, and so on..." Gil replied, bobbing his head to the side from time to time.
"Hey, what about WEREWOLVES or a VAMPIRE Apocalypse??" One of the soldier said over the intercom.
"Dude, I swear to god, if you are still watching that shitty Twilight thing with the nurse, I'm going to hit you hard enough to send you BACK in time..." Gil groaned, pressing a button on the earpiece to reply to the soldier.
"YOU KNOW IT'S COMING!!"

"Twilight? I saw that once. A long time ago. Talk about bad." She laughed some more, enjoying the conversation. "Besides, zombies are more fun. Even if everyone always died in the end in movies." Lottie grinned, but wasn't paying attention to where she was walking. When her foot came down next, it was on something not asphalt, that slid out from under her. Unable to recover her balance Lottie fell, landing hard on her bum on the dusty road, and cursed.

Lottie blushed. "N- no, I can walk. Just...." She looked up at him, pleading. "Can I hold on to your hand or arm or something? Usually, I take a walking stick, but it broke yesterday, and..." She trailed off.

Lottie didn't see him nod, but heard him walk over to her. She knew he wasn't violent so Lottie knew he wouldn't hit her or anything, but she hadn't counted on Gil's holding her hand and helping her up. "Yes, um, thank you." She could feel herself blushing. "Should we keep moving, then?"
