~: At Hula Bob's Tiki Bar & Grillrimedragona Aoaka had been hovering his way down the beach, taking an easy-going sort of walk. He hadn't been long in this world, and a great deal of it had been spent in his cave, making it feel more like a home.
So it was something of a surprise to chance upon an... establishment on the beach and he had to stop and stare for a moment to take it all in. Then a slow smile crept on his face, and he hovered his way closer, taking his time.
The door, luckily, was slightly a jar, allowing Aoaka entry. Making his way in, he spotted a a counter, with row upon row of glass bottles behind it, and further up, there was smooth floor that looked like it could be used by those with feet for dancing.
"What in the name of... well... everything, I guess... is this place?" He wondered aloud, enjoying himself immensely even without knowing where he was. immortalmina Hula Bob saw the aion come in a waved. "Aloha! Welcome to Hula Bob's Tiki Bar and Grill. I'm Hula Bob." He chuckled and washed a glass. He was happy to see the aions when they came to the bar.Jazz got up from her bar stool and walked over to the aion. "Aloha. I'm Jazz and I'll be your waitress today. You can sit anywhere. There are menus on the tables."Jet and Luau LuLu were at their table playing tiki checkers. rimedragona Aoaka nodded pleasantly. "Nice to meet all of you. My name is Aoaka... Uhm... I'll just stay here, then."
He gestured with a fin to a nearby table, as it would mean less travel, and hovered a little higher to get above the chair. Now where was... ah! The menu.
Little flicks with his telekinesis flipped the pages, and he looked down the list, making little appreciative noises at some of the items.
"Uhm... Is the popcorn shrimp good? I'll have some of that, if it is. And... do you have strawberry milkshakes?" he asked with excited eyes. immortalmina Jazz watched the Aion move the menu like she did. "Yes, I'd say both are quite good." She smiled and walked over to the bar. "Popcorn shrimp and a strawberry milkshake, Hula Bobby!"Hula Bob smiled. "Yes, ma'am." Hula Bob winked and got the drink done. He set it on the bar for Jazz and then went to work on the food that always took longer.Jazz smiled and floated the drink over to the aion. "Okay, Aoaka, the food will be done in a moment!" rimedragona Aoaka wriggled in the chair. "Thank you, Jazz, and Hula Bob!" he said cheerfully and took a sip of the strawberry milkshake. It was delicious! "There aren't many people around, are there? Do they all come later?" There were so many chairs, this place must usually get pretty busy. And that dance floor looked neat, with the water underneath it. immortalmina Jazz nodded. "You're welcome. Well, this place can hop when there is a part or event of some kind. Then other times it's just one or two. Anyone is nice." Jazz told him with a nod.Hula Bob got the shrimp done and set it on the bar. "Order up! Yes, this place is fun no matter who is here!"Jazz floated it over to the aions table. rimedragona The scent of the shrimp made Aoaka's mouth fairly water.
"Mmm, that smells good! If everything is like what I got, then I'm surprised people aren't here every day!"
He lifted a piece of shrimp and popped in into his mouth, chewing before swallowing and asking, "So what do you do when there isn't anyone around?" immortalmina "Off duty I hang around the beach and surf. It's fun out there. Almost as much fun as it is in here. I love my job. Awesome!" Hula Bob said as he moved some hair from his eyes. "I'm glad you like the food.""Yeah, I tend to hang around the beach as well. You never know when someone might want some food or a drink. It's best not to go far." Jazz smiled warmly and told the aion. "Do you want a refil of your shake?" rimedragona As the Aion had been savoring his shake, he took a surprised look down into it, making sure it was still there. Yes, he had only drank about half of it, to go with about half of his popcorn shrimp.
"No, I'm good, thank you. And I've never seen anyone surf... the water's too shallow by my cave, so no one ever comes for that," he said, looking a bit depressed.
But not so depressed that he couldn't enjoy his food, as evidenced by him eating a few more shrimp and draining some more of his shake. He so rarely got anything that was strawberry, and so he was savoring this one. immortalmina "Really? Well, I do prefer the middle of the lake for all my surfing. It makes it a bit easier on me. You know, what with it not really being the ocean and all." Hula Bob chuckled. It was too bad it wasn't the ocean. He would love to see that. If only he could leave the beach.Jazz nodded. "No comes to your cave? Not other aions?" Jazz asked. She didn't know much about the aions, but she did figure they were like a group or something. rimedragona Aoaka shook his head, denying her statement, then realized that could be construed as agreeing with her, too. "Uh, well, I don't know many others. I just meant I've never seen anyone surfing by my cave, though."
The last of the popcorn shrimp dissappeared from in front of him, and he made an appreciative noise, before downing the last of his shake.
"I wonder what the difference between lake surfing and ocean surfing is?" Aoaka wondered aloud. He really had no idea what he was talking about. Being only a small Aion, he had never seen anyone surf, ever. He wasn't even entirely sure what surfing was, but he didn't want to admit it. immortalmina "Well, there is more real waves on the ocean. The lake is more of ripples with a bit of my Hula magic." Hula Bob shook his hips and moved his arms to show what he ment. He more rocked and surfed then just surfed."We've only met a few other aions. I'm glad to see more of your kind in the bar and out of the lake. It's nice!" Jazz said with a nod of her head. "Would you like more now?" rimedragona Aoaka nodded. It made sense that the lake, being smaller, would also have smaller waves.
"Well, I like you guys, you're nice. And thank you, miss Jazz, but I've been out of the water for a while... I don't want to dry out too much. Maybe I can come back again some day? I'd like that," he suggested, giving his usual lazy smile. He wasn't used to being so forward, usually he just let things happen as they happened, but sometimes, you just gotta put yourself forward.immortalmina "Of crouse you can come back. Come back whenever you want. This place is pretty much always open!" Jazz said as he floated the plate and cup over to Hula bob."Yes, and there will be a Valentine's Day Dance next month! Aloha, Aoaka!" Hula Bob said as he began to clean up.

~: Second Trip to Bob'srimedragona It had been awhile since he'd visited the bar and grill, and Aoaka wondered how Bob and the others were doing. He'd missed several events, he knew, but he hadn't been able to rouse himself enough to come and see what was going on. Now was a good time to visit, he thought... it seemed as though things wouldn't be terribly busy. That, and... he'd had a craving for a strawberry milkshake lately. He was nearing the door to the grill, and he knocked on the door, seeming unable to keep from practicing the habit even in a public place. He entered with a wide smile, though he wasn't sure Hula Bob would even recognize him, since he'd grown up. After knocking, he floated forward, pushing the door open, and blinked a couple times to adjust to the different lighting. "I wonder if there's anything new on the menu..." he wondered quietly to himself while he waited and the door shut behind him. immortalmina "Sure, okay. When Mom does come home I'm sure she won't mind being out when you come over. A new recipe? Sounds cool." Jet smiled. He did wonder when his mother was coming home. Jet heard a knock.Hula Bob looked to the door. "Aloha and welcome to Hula Bob's Tiki Bar and Grill! Is that you Aoaka?" Hula Bob shouted cheerfully. rimedragona Aoaka grinned and gave Hula Bob a wave with his webbed hand. "Hi, Hula Bob! Yeah, it's me." he looked around curiously, now that his eyes were adjusted, to see what had changed. There was one thing noticably missing... "... Does Jazz have the day off?" he asked, curiously, as he floated over to a barstool. immortalmina Jet nodded. "That sounds nice. I'm sure Hula Bob can hook up some food to go with yours if you want. Or you can make it all yourself." he knew she liked cooking, so he didn't want to take that away from her. "When do you want to..." Just then he heard someone come in.Jazz strood into the bar smiling. "Hello all. Did you miss me?" Jazz giggled as she didn't think they did."Speaking of Jazz. There she is. 'Course we missed ya dudette!" Hula Bob winked at her. immortalmina Hula Bob chuckled as he watched Jazz come in and sit down at the bar. She was so much bigger and had very pretty wings. Hula Bob also noticed the mic that was in her hand. "Awesome, dudette!""Oh, okay. I'll just be a moment." Jet was excited that his mom was back, but he was enjoying Wednesday's company. He nodded and walked over to his mom. He hugged her. "You're bigger. Glad you are back, Mom."Jazz nodded. "Yep, I'm the Elder of Entertainment. And I have kick a** boots." She winked to Hula Bob. Jazz hugged her son back. "I'm glad I'm back too. I missed you." Jazz waved to Wednesday, Sebastain, Karma, Tawny and the Merion. rimedragona Aoaka's eyes widened in surprise as Jazz entered. Or at least, he assumed it was Jazz. Everyone was calling her that. Had he been away that long? She looked so different... "Hi, Jazz... remember me?" he smiled, waving from his bar stool. immortalmina Hula Bob smiled. He shot off some fireworks that said, "Congrats Jazz Elder of Entertainment!" "Awesome. Drinks on the house!" Of course they always were on the house, but it still sounded fun.Jet could hear the fireworks and smiled. "Congrats mom. Now, we can play in our band again." He chuckled and walked back over to Wednesday."Thanks Wednesday. I hope you were keeping Jet out of trouble." Jazz giggled. She was happy her son seemed to find someone. Jazz looked to the Merion. "Uh, yeah. Hi Aoaka. You're a Merion!" She smiled at him. rimedragona Aoaka nodded, and flourished his tail a bit. "yeah! And you changed, too! What's it like to be an Elder?" He leaned forward a bit, curious. The annoucement, though... "Do drinks on the house include strawberry milkshakes? Or do you have something else made from strawberries that I haven't had?" he added, as the thought occured to him that all he'd ever had here was the milkshakes. immortalmina Jazz smiled to the Merion. "Well, it's pretty nice. I have my mic with me all the time, kick a** boots, and I'm prittier then before." Jazz giggled and winked at him. "What's it like to be a Merion?""There are Strawberry slushes. If you would like to try one." Hula Bob turned from the Merion back to the three teens. "Sure, awesome!" Hula Bob made up another blender full of Sebastian's Grog and poured it for them.Jet smiled and blushed. "Yes, it sounds wonderful. When do you want to do it?" He would be looking into her eyes, but he couldn't. Jet put his hand on her's. rimedragona Aoaka smiled. She was definitely pretty. He considered her question. "Hm, well... I'm bigger, and I have hands! I can float higher... other than that, it's not too much different," he said, and spread his arms out wide, laughing. Hula Bob's suggestion made him curious. "Oh, that sounds good, Hula Bob. I think I'll try of one of those. WHat's in them, besides strawberries?" He leaned with one elbow on the counter, his attention almost completely arrested by the prospect of strawberries in his future. immortalmina Jet blushed. "Okay, that sounds great. I can bring a nice beach blanket. I know my mom has some and Hula Bob does too." He chuckled and smiled to her liking holding her hand."Yeah? It's different and yet it isn't. Though, the honor of it is great." Jazz told him with a nod. She wasn't sure how Merions became Merions, but she figured it was still an honor.Hula Bob turned back to the Merion. "Well, water ice and stuff. Can't tell you it all." He winked and began to make one.Luau LuLu walked into the bar with a big belly. She smiled and waved to them all and sat down. immortalmina "Yeah, me too." Jet smiled towards Wednesday. He wonder what have kids would be like? Then chuckled to himself. "So, tomorrow then?" He was ready for another date with Wednesday.Hula Bob set the drink in front of the Merion. "I'm going to be a granddaddy? Awesome!" He shot more fireworks in the air.Luau LuLu giggled and patted her belly. "Looks that way.""Congrats, Luau LuLu!" Jazz smiled warmly. rimedragona Aoaka nodded at Jazz. "It's pretty cool. I don't know many other Merions, but I'm also out of the way. Oooh, thanks, Hula Bob!" he said when the drink was put in front of him. He tasted a sip, and his eyes widened. "That's really good!" he complimented and smiled wide. He turned the stool around and nodded to the expectant mother. "Can I add my congratulations to the mix? it must be great to have kids," he said, nodding enthusiastically. immortalmina Hula Bob smiled to Aoaka. "You're welcome!" He chuckled. "Jazz in an elder and my daughter is having a baby. What wonderful news. So awesome! Rightious."Jazz nodded. "I haven't met many of your kind either. I wonder why?" She hadn't thought much about the lake Aions and Merions. Jazz again nodded to Hula Bob. "It's wonderful."Luau LuLu blushed even reder. "Thanks everyone. It is going to be so very awesome."Jet blushed and then held the spot where she kissed him. He loved her kisses. "Yes. It sounds great." rimedragona Aoaka rolled his shoulders in an easy shrug at Jazz's comment. He took a drink while he thought for a moment, then said, "I don't know. I've never really gone looking, I'm pretty happy in my cave. Maybe I should go take a look around, ya know?"He paused, took another drink, and then chuckled, "Of course, that might be too much like actual work," he said with self-deprecating humor. immortalmina Jazz giggled a little. "Yes, but I guess trying is important. You never know who you might meet when you look."Luau LuLu nodded. "Very true." She smiled at her dad and patted her tummy. Was she really ready for this? If not she was going to be.Hula Bob agreed as well. "How do you like the drink? Was it better then the shake or the same?" He asked with a wide grin."We could just go on our date tonight instead of waiting...or whatever you would like to do." Jet just liked being with her so he didn't really care what they did. rimedragona Aoaka nodded. Jazz was right, of course. Trying was important. But it somehow just seemed easier to keep things as they were. Maybe tomorrow he'd go and see if he could find other Merions, or even some Aions. He was brought out of his reverie by a question. He picked his head off his hand and blinked. "Hm? Oh! I think it's better, but I still love the shakes!" He grinned back and gave a firm nod. He had come for food as well, though, so he set himself to thinking of what he wanted to order. Last time he'd had the shrimp... maybe he should try something new on that front, too. All the changes recently, up to and including meal choices, seemed to be going to his head and making him think that perhaps change wasn't so bad after all. immortalmina Jet kissed her back. "I'm glad you like it." He used his straw to take a sip. "I dont' think anyone has ordered one yet. So we are the first sweetharts!" Jet chuckled"Alrighty! If you want a shake too let me know." Hula Bob said with a smile. He loved making things for others. Heck, it's what he was born to do.Jazz watched her son and Wednesday. "So sweet." She smiled."Maybe you'll be a grandma too!" Luau LuLu teased Jazz. rimedragona Aoaka shook his head with a smile. "I don't know about right now, but maybe later. Right now, though, I'm hungry... I saw some salmon on your menu, can I have that?" he asked, and his stomach let out an embarrassing grumble. He put a hand over it and his smile turned sheepish. immortalmina Jet smiled at Wednesday. "Yeah, it is. More couples should try it. It's fun." He took another sip. It was nice just drinking a shake with her.Hula Bob nodded. "Sounds good. It will just take a sec." Hula Bob went to the kitchen and began to make up Aoaka foods. rimedragona Aoaka nodded happily, and took a couple more sips from his drink as he waited. He watched everyone else in the bar unobtrusively, never quite staring, but enjoying watching people going about their business. immortalmina ((Okay Luau LuLu has had her baby so I will say she left the bar now. Also is Dream coming back to this rp or does she want to start the guild Jet and Wednesday rp?)) Hula Bob set the food down in front of the Merion with a smile. "I hope it's awesome!" He chuckled. He noticed the Luau LuLu had left the bar. He hoped she would bring the baby by once it was born.Jazz leaned back on her stool. She was ready to sing. Maybe she would.rimedragona Aoaka sniffed appreciatively as the salmon was set down on the counter. "Thanks, Hula Bob." he said, and watched as other people entered the place. There were so many people here, as compared to the last couple times he'd been here... he quietly observed them from his seat, giving them a friendly smile and a wave if they happened to look in his direction. He ate a bite of the salmon, and his eyes widened. Once he'd finished, and swallowed, he turned to Hula Bob and asked, "Is there anything you make that isn't absolutely delicious?"immortalmina Jazz nodded to Blake. "Did ya hear that Bob?" Sure she was the waitress, but he was standing right there.
She sat down next to Aoaka. "I'm Hula Bob will say he can't." She winked at the Merion.Hula Bob nodded and got the drink done. "It's awesome. Food in a moment." Hula Bob looked at Aoaka with a chuckle. "That's right!"Luau LuLu walked back into the bar with Tiki Jim. She sat near the other and smiled. "I think we got our bass player, Jazz."Tiki Jim only gurggled. rimedragona Aoaka grinned at Jazz. "Well, so far, there hasn't been anything that isn't awesome. So until I taste something bad, my opinion stands," he said with a chuckle. He was slowly working on the salmon, savoring it. He also kept an eye on the people around him, wondering if he ought to take Jazz's advice and try and meet more people. Maybe he ought to stick to trying to meet other Aions and Merions first, though... immortalmina "You're welcome beach bunny. Thanks to you too dude. I knew my stuff was the most awesome. Just nice to hear." Hula Bob winked and chuckled. He then started to clean up.Jazz shook her head at Hula Bob. "Yep, always the modest one." She was thinking about what song to sing.Luau LuLu smiled. "Hey dad, how about opening the pool?" She wondered if her son would like to swim...with her holding him. He was too young.Tiki Jim giggled and climbed on Luau LuLu to stand up. He smiled at the others in the bar. immortalmina "Thanks so much everyone!" Hula Bob blushed but as always it was unseen under his red skin. "Sure, thing dudette." Hula Bob hit the button and the dance floor opened to the pool.Jazz smiled. "I was going to sing something, but I think I'll wait till there is a dance floor again." She twirled her mic around.Luau LuLu got off the dance floor as it opened. She then got into the water holding Tiki Jim. "You can't swim yet, but I can show you the water."As his mom dipped his feet into the water he giggled. the water was nice. Tiki Jim splashed it with his hands and tail. rimedragona Well, this was an interesting development. Aoaka had never seen the pool open before, and he watched the floor pull back with interest. He looked down at his almost gone salmon, and decided that after he finished, he would slip in the pool, too. Especially as it would mean he could delay going back to the water for longer. He chuckled at the baby splashing in the water. "Looks like he enjoys it already. You might have a surfer in the making, miss."There. He'd tried starting a small conversation with someone else. It was a start, at least. He took a drink from his glass as he watched them in the pool. immortalmina Luau LuLu looked up at the Merion. "Yes, it does run in the family. It will be awesome to teach him when he is older. Want to join us?" She patted the water as if it was a chair. She smiled at the Merion.Tiki Jim kept giggling and splashing. It was nice and fun. He liked water. rimedragona Aoaka smiled at Luau Lulu's invitation, and nodded. He finished the last of his meal, not wanting it to get cold, and thanked Hula Bob for it before sliding off the chair and floating over to the pool. He sank into the water with a happy sigh. His long black tail curled underneath him in the water, and he sank under the surface quickly to get the rest of him wet before he came back up top, just his head and shoulders rising out of the water. "Ah, that feels much better. I was feeling a bit dry," he said, and then tilted his head at Tiki Jim, considering. "Do you think he's too young to learn how to swim?" Aoaka asked. He really had no idea, having been able to swim from the time he was an Aion. And there weren't many that were better than a Merion for teaching swimming lessons. immortalmina Hula Bob nodded to Aoaka with a smile. He then got to making Apollo's order. He set the drink in font of the fae. "One moment on the cheeseburger!""I think he might be a bit too little. Maybe when he is a child?" Luau LuLu wasn't too sure either, but she learned when she was a child. She didn't want to rush it and hurt the little guy.Tiki Jim watched the Merion with a smile. He then giggled and splashed a little towards him. He liked the tail. It was different."Well, the dance floor is missing, but..." Jazz stood up and moved a few of the unused tables. Now there was room for the two or more to dance. "I can sing. The rest of the band is busy. I hope that is okay." Jazz walked on stage and prepared to sing something. rimedragona Aoaka shrugged and nodded. "I thought I heard somewhere that babies can swim, but that was probably about Aions. Best to wait a while," he said. Jim seemed to have an interest in his tail, so Aoaka brought it around and poked the long fings carefully out of the surface, splishing a bit of water towards Tiki Jim and Luau Lulu as he wiggled it about. The Merion didn't mind it being handled, he just hoped Tiki Jim wasn't a biter. That thought crossed his mind, and made him chuckle a bit. "If you want help when he's older, I live in cave not far away," he offered, intrigued by the little guy. Tiki Jim was the first baby Aoaka had encountered that wasn't himself. immortalmina Luau LuLu smiled. "Yes, that would be awesome. We are somewhat of a water family, but you...you really live in it! I'm sure you are better then us." She giggled. Sure her father was a surfer, mother swimmer, Regan's had water powers...but he was a fish.Tiki Jim looked at the tail. He giggled and chirped. It was a fun an funny thing. He splashed his arms and then his little tail. It wasn't the same but he didn't know it. rimedragona Aoaka chuckled, and continued to gently splish about with his tail. As long as it amused the little one, and he was in water, he could do this for hours. He had never claimed to be hard to amuse. The arrival of still more people was a small distraction, though, and he looked up to see who else was here. Someone else he had never met, it seemed, though that wasn't surprising. But, it wasn't another Merion, or even an Aion. It seemed that Hula Bob's place wasn't popular with the aquatic crowd. That would make it difficult to see how many Merions he could find, if he wanted to hang out here more often. Well, perhaps he could spread the word, if he did find other Merions. He realized he was forgetting about the baby, his tail fin draping limply above the water as he was lost in thought. "Whoops. Drifted there for a bit," he said, by way of explanation. immortalmina "Oh, yeah I've met a few elders before dudette became one. I dont' know much about them, still though." Hula Bob shurgged not thinking much about it.
"Well, then it is time for you to get out there. There are many nice and fun Paes to meet. Maybe not as fun as me." Hula Bob chuckled and winked to her.Luau LuLu smiled at Aoaka. "Water is nice and I bet it is nicer for you." She splashed a bit to him and Tiki Jim.Tiki Jim chuckled and splashed at the tail and his mom. rimedragona Aoaka nodded. "Yeah, if it wasn't for this pool, I'd have had to go by now! And I like being here, it's fun. Not like my boring ol' cave. Which will be filled with driftwood again when I get back."He sighed, and amade a face, not looking forward to that task. He piled it all up outside his cave, above the water, but the pile was getting to be rather large, and he'd soon have to find somewhere else to put it. Maybe he'd build something out of it. To banish the thoughts of work, he slipped under the water, and sunk to the bottom of the pool for a moment, before flipping his tail and shooting back towards the surface. His tail didn't quite make it completely out of the water, but he did a nice backwards arch before his head returned to the water, his tail following behind. An under water somersault, and he was back facing Lulu Luau with a grin. "Sorry. I just had to banish the thought of work," he said with a laugh. immortalmina "yeah, I guess the lake is like that." As she spoke to Aoaka she noticed the Tiki Jim had grown. He was now a child. "Looks like someone might be able to swim now." She giggled."Yes, I want to swim." Tiki Jim had learned the language by listening to everyone around him. He was excited to swim now that he was big enough. rimedragona Aoaka grinned. "Great! Hm... where to start? Okay, I know! How to kick, so you get the most power! See how I do this?"He demonstrated, swimming backward with powerful strokes of his tail, which stayed underwater the whole time. "That's how you get moving really fast. You have to keep your tail... well, for you, Tiki Jim, it's your hands and feet... under the water. Otherwise, this happens."He grinned, and swam backwards again, only this time bringing his tail up out of the water partway each time. He not only didn't move as fast, he made a lot of noise of water splashing and sent sprays of water everywhere. Luckily, he was in the middle of the pool, so only a little water reached outside the edges. "Whoops... Sorry, Hula Bob..." he said, a bit sheepishly. "I can wipe that up... Tiki Jim, you hold onto your Mom's hands and practice kicking a bit, okay?"Of course, he didn't realize that Tiki Jim would probably undo all his cleaning as soon as he started kicking, but he thought he had done a good demonstration of what not to do. immortalmina Tiki Jim watched and giggled a bit. He then looked to his mom who was smiling down at him. "Okay, I can." He then kicked his feet and used his tail as well. He did have one after all and didn't know what it was for. The kicking did well.Luau LuLu smiled down at Tiki Jim as she watched Aoaka. "Yeah, you can do it!" She chuckled and watched her son. rimedragona Aoaka took care of the splashes, and luckily they didn't reach much beyond the border of the pool, so he didn't have to get out and drip more. He sighed. If he was going to leave, he'd have to use his powers, and that was something he didn't do often. He had kept an eye on Tiki Jim, and when he was done, Aoaka clapped his webbed hands together. "Good job, Tiki Jim! How do you feel about putting your face in the water and trying that? It's natural for Aions and Merions... but since you don't live in water, it can be a little different. Just hold your breath and dunk your face in." he said, sounding encouraging. He didn't think it would be too much trouble for the little boy. He was practically a fish as it was! immortalmina Luau LuLu nodded. "I think you can do it Tiki Jim." She smiled and let him go. The pool was shallow and he could grab on the side. She remembered helping her dad and Jazz teach Bo-Bae to swim in this pool.Tiki Jim nodded and then swam a bit with his face under the water. He then grabbed the side and smiled at them. "Yay!"

~: Meeting BellismaHelMel The sand settled back down to the bottom slowly after the long sweep of purple tail came to a rest. Belisma sighed and sank slowly onto a soft patch of underwater plants, pushing her long black hair away from her face. The Merion was doomed to spend another day in solitude, but she didn't mind too much; she never knew how to act around others. rimedragona Aoaka had woken up that day with big plans. After Jazz reminding him last night that he had only himself to blame for being lonely if he didn't try to seek others out, he'd planned to use today to see who he could find.
But of course, plans never survive the first engagement with the enemy, as the saying goes, and in this case, the enemy was Aoaka's own predeliction for laziness and procrastination.
He cleaned out the debris that had floated into his cave with the previous high tide, he'd gone out and cleaned up the bit of beach he considered "his", anything except actually go out and look for other Merions.
It had been a very productive day so far, in every way except the one he'd intended. Now, though, there was nothing left for him to do, and he looked out of the opening of his cave with the air of someone being forced to do something distasteful.
It wasn't that he didn't like people, it just seemed too much like actual work to go out and put himself forward. He'd just spent the entire day doing actual work, but Aoaka conveniently ignored that fact.
So finally, with a shrug and no other reasons to delay, he swam slowly out of the water in his half-submerged cave and went on his first active search for another Merion. It was only mid-day, just after the noon hour, in fact. He stuck close to the shore on his first foray, not knowing the depths very well.
He was about ready to give up as the sun reached mid-afternoon, and stopped to admire some green leafy plants that were reaching towards the surface. They were undulating in the rolling of the water, and Aoaka never was one to pass up looking at beautiful things.
He stayed where he was for a while, using his long black tail to keep himself in place. Unfortunately for him, he was missing the trees for the forest, so to speak. Looking too much at the big picture, he failed to notice the being sitting amongst the plants. In fact, he was staring in that bemused, dreamy way almost directly at her. HelMel The Merion froze; this other one was staring right at her! Eyes wide, Belisma sat completely still for a moment before realizing that he was instead staring through her. Am I invisible? Lifting a hand to her face, she eyed it analytically. I can see me... can others see me, she thought to herself, concerned. rimedragona With the movement of the hand, Aoaka's eyes focused on her, and he flinched back a bit in surprise. There had been someone there? And he'd been staring almost directly at her, too. How embarrassing.
He flushed across his cheekbones and rubbed the back of his head with a webbed hand. Stupid, don't just stare at her. Say something! he berated himself, then made a sheepish wave and said, "Uh... hi, there, I... didn't see you for a moment. You know... lost in thought...?" he trailed off a bit questioningly.
For his first meeting with another Merion, this wasn't going well. Not well at all. That was brilliant. You sounded like a moron, he thought. He prepared himself to be laughed at with a bit of stoicism, though his expression remained embarrassed. HelMel "Oh," Belisma replied softly. "I'm glad I'm not invisible then." This was her only reply on the subject, as she had little contact with others and was of no position to gauge one's eloquence. Rising up, the merion stretched her shiny purple tail and eyed the male curiously. "I haven't met you before; I'd remember." rimedragona Aoaka shook his head, happily surprised that she didn't laugh at him. "No, you're not invisible. And we haven't met... but it's nice to do so now. Uhm... I'm Aoaka." he added as an afterthought, and drifted closer with a flick of his black tail so he could put out his webbed hand so she could touch it in greeting. He'd seen the Pae'il in the bar and grill do this a couple times, they called it 'shaking hands'. Of course, webbing got in the way, so this was the best he could come up with.
"I didn't interrupt you or anything, did I?" he asked, hoping he hadn't. HelMel "My name is Belisma," the merion replied, her hair floating behind her on the light pull of the current. She watched the male extend his arm and point his fingers at her; tilting her head, she examined the hand curiously, wondering what he was doing. "Do you want me to give you something?" she asked hesitantly, knowing she was making a fool of herself. Her peach-hued skin reddened in embarassment. rimedragona Aoaka pulled his hand back behind him, shaking his head. It made his hair float about his head like an aureole.
"No, it's just something I saw the Pae'il do when I was at one of their buildings. They do it when they greet someone new. I'm sorry," he said.
"You're... the first Merion I've ever seen, did you know that?" he said, sounding embarrassed himself. "I grew up.. around Hula Bob's place, so I learned about stuff like that from them." HelMel "No, I didn't know that." She considered the fact that she couldn't have known that with a hesitant wondering of if she should have. "What's a HuBob?" She settled back down into a comfortable position, her eyes turned up toward the male, fascinated by the new things she was learning. rimedragona He chuckled, and said with enthusiasm, "Hula Bob is awesome! He's a Pae'il. He makes really good food, and he has a place where Pae can go hang out." He was gesturing animatedly as he spoke, and it was obvious that he was talking about something he liked a lot. "It has music, and Jazz, another Pae, does the singing! I found it once when I was still an Aion, and I went back a few times. I helped a baby Pae learn how to swim!"
Then he abruptly stopped, and blushed again. He was talking too much... Idiot, think of something to ask her, let her do some talking! he thought to himself.
"So... Is this where you live?" he asked, looking about at the kelp with interest. He thought the way the kelp swayed back and forth in the waves was rather hypnotizing if you watched it long enough. He couldn't see any kelp from the shallows where his cave was situated. HelMel UNFORTUNATELY THE AIONS HAVE VANISHED FROM THE LAKE!
There are some rumors of transformation... ninja

~: Meeting Serefina and Daxrimedragona Aoaka had been drifting with the tide, under the ocean's surface. He'd been drifting in thought, too, but slowly, words began to invade his consideration of the changes that had occured recently.
Blinking, he looked around, and seeing no one near, he thought to look up. There, above him and a ways to the side, were two tails and a pair of legs.
"More Naiads? And... well, I'm not sure... wait a minute. Could that be? I can't tell from here..."
He swam a little closer, still under the water, and frowned. He dithered back and forth a bit, wondering if he should go and see or play it safe down here. He thought it might be Jazz, with that color and the shape, and he'd been there when she'd come back to Hula Bob's as an elder.
She was having a conversation, though, and it would be impolite to interrupt. But.. if she was an elder, she might know what was going on. But she might not recognize him. It would be nice to see her, though.
That was enough. He drifted to the surface quietly, breaking into the air about thirty feet away, silently. His coloration was gentle enough to not stand out to anyone not paying attention to that particular part of the ocean.
From here, though, he could definitely tell who the legged one was. It was Jazz. Before he could stop himself, he raised a dripping hand high out of the water, and waved.
"Miss Jazz! Is that you? Hi!" he called, and added another wave to the other two Naiads. immortalmina Jazz chuckled at Serafina. "Oh, yes I speak English as he said, it means hello. You met Hula Bob?" She asked the blue male. Jazz knew Hula Bob taught that word to everyone he met.
"My name is Jazz and I'm the Elder of Entertainment. You two are Naiads, right? Were you once Aion or Merion?" She asked with a nod. Jazz figured that as they were adults already.
Jazz then noticed the third Naiad. He seemed to know her. It took her a few, but then she knew who it was. "Aoaka? Is that you? Yes, I'm Jazz. It's funny you change every time I see ya." She winked. rimedragona Aoaka grinned and blushed, his arm bent behind his head. "It's not my idea, really," he said, then turned to the other two.
"Hello, my name is Aoaka. It's nice to meet you," he introduced himself, and then held out his hand to shake. Teigra Serefina blushed slightly, looking aside in embarrassment. How was she supposed to know that? She'd never heard that word before in her life. Deciding to take the attention off of herself and her mistake, she poked Dax in the side. "You know, you're going to crash into someone one day doing that."
She was surprised at the arrival of another like themselves. Had she ever met this one before? As he introduced himself as Aoaka, she realized she hadn't and that here was one she had shared the lake with and somehow never run into. The lake really was too large for the small number of aquatic creatures swimming about in it. Well, at least those who could talk. She wasn't counting the fish. "Hello. I'm Serefina and it's a pleasure." Smiling, she took his hand, nodding slightly.
She turned back to the one who had introduced herself as Jazz. An Elder, eh? She wasn't exactly sure what that meant, but it sounded important and rather impressive. "Naiads?" She puzzled over the word. "Um...sure, why not? Sounds about as right as anything else, I suppose. And yes, we were. The three of us were Merion until recently when we just sorta' woke up and looked like this!" She gestured briefly to herself, Dax, and the surprisingly-silent Merric in the distance. Perhaps they had lucked out. It sounded like Jazz knew a lot more about all this than they did. Maybe they could find out what was going on around here from her. "So, you seem to know a lot more about this than we do. Do you know why we've shifted form again?" Tymiko the Pirate Girl "Huh?" Sensing someone else in the water before actually hearing them, Dax whipped around to catch a glimpse of the newcomer that he had happened to miss. This creature was male like he and Merric, and it too looked pae-like, but with the same aquatic features. Though Dax wasn't sure he'd ever seen him before in the lake, he was pretty certain the Naiad hadn't always been one. He must have been a bottom dweller Aion or something...sure looks like one...after all, I usually spent most of my time in the shallows or the sunshine...
Looking on curiously, Dax noted the familiarity and formality of the adult's greeting toward who he had assumed was a taller-than-most female pae. She seemed to share his recognition, for in addition to responding to the name he called her, she spoke a name back.
It was then Jazz, Elder of Entertainment, introduced herself to them, commenting on someone called 'Hula Bob' and mentioning what seemed to be 'Aion' and 'Merion'. The third word however, was totally unfamiliar.
"Naiad?" he repeated in confusion. But by then the Elder had turned her attention toward the stranger. This stranger, decorated in markings of spider webs of silver and black, introduced huimself in the most formal of fashions as Aoaka, and claimed 'it was nice' to meet them.
Dax, who was getting uncomfortable due to all the formalities and manners, had remained uncharacteristically quiet until after Serefina poked him in the side.
"Oww...hehe...one day? You couldn't gess how many days it's happened before..." he told her with a shameless smile.
Reluctant to get closer to the others due to his uneasiness, Dax feared that if he should be himself at that moment, he would be looked down upon by Jazz and Aoaka, who seemed very important people. Or at least acted like it. Personally, Dax coouldn't stand the stiffness of the situation, but he didn't want Serefina to think too badly of him and decided to resist the urge to spice up the conversation.
"Miss Jazz, then, if that's what they call you," the Merion spoke in slightly sarcastic tones that were otherwise quite serious, "How in the world is it you know about us Aion? I mean I barely learned what a Merion was just recently, and I have no idea what an Elder is. Seems you know more about both of our races that I know of either. So...would you be so kind as to...to..." As he attempted to finish his sentence, a long strand of vibrant blue hair drifted in front of his face. Try as he might to blow the strand aside, several others fell instead to obscure his vision and hinder his ability to speak. They kept on seeking a way into his mouth and tickling his lips until finally he could stand it no longer.
"Seashells!" Dax swore, his true, childish nature exposed for a moment. "Just a minute!" He ducked under the shallow surface and was gone for a minute, his fluid form nearly invisible amidst the turquoise waters until it disappeared completely towards the deeper part of the lake.
In approximately a minute, however, the Naiad re-emerged, his mock solemnity reinstated, but this time with a crudely-tied kelp ponytail to accent it. His appearance, though comical to say the least, was something similar to a court house judge or a chinese magistrate, but as it had been tied in a hurry, looked more like a little girl's bow than anything.
"Now where was I? Oh yes, Miss Jazz, would you be so kind as to enlighten us?" Despite all, Dax seemed totally oblivious to his absurdity. rimedragona Aoaka beamed as Serefina accepted his hand. He hadn't had many opportunities to make friends with the other Merions, but it seemed he was getting off to a better start as a 'Naiad'. Maybe this wasn't such a bad thing after all.
"I was a Merion, too, but I don't think we ever met. Which isn't surprising... I don't leave my cave very often. I'm trying to be better about that, though," he explained in response to her greeting, his pale coloration pinking slightly in embarrassment as he looked down to the water's surface.
He turned to Jazz as the other male asked his question. A questioning look crossed his face at the other's sarcastic tone, but out of politeness, he didn't mention anything about it. He didn't want to offend and ruin any chances of a friendship.
"Yes, please. I just woke up like this one day. Do you know anything?" he asked, an imploring look directed at Jazz. immortalmina Jazz watched them for a moment. "Well, you see, I live on the island and work at a bar. I see and hear a lot of things. Like not too long ago a bunch of eggs watched up on shore. These were found to be Naiad eggs. I also heard something about the Aion and Merion race becoming extinct. Maybe you have changed because the Guardians wanted you to not die out?" Jazz scrachted her head. She hoped this was right. Being an Elder sometimes made her feel like she should know the answers, when she didn't.
Jazz flapped her wings to try and keep her upright. She didn't normally swim this long. She was move of the "stay on the bar's roof" type. Just watching things.
rimedragona Aoaka smiled. "That sounds right. I'm glad they didn't want that..." he said, shaking his head slightly.
He noticed that Jazz seemed to be having a bit of trouble keeping afloat. "Jazz... did you want to go to shore? I don't mind sitting on the beach... or even near it. Uhm..." he glanced over at the others. It was true that he didn't mind, but what about the others? They might not like going on land. But, Jazz did look tired. He waited for her to decide.

~: Hi's Campaign HQrimedragona Aoaka had heard about the election on his last trip to the island, and while he didn't know much about that kind of thing, never having a need for it in the waters of Tuatha Ri, it had certainly sounded important. He knew the way, having seen the Healing House when he went to visit the potions master, so it was a relatively quick trip from the water's edge.
He was approaching the building when a tall Pae and a young blue Pae left the building. The woman looked somewhat upset, and this gave Aoaka pause. Was this a good idea? Should he be here?
Well, he was here, and he'd come all this way... it would be silly to go back now. Besides, the workout was good for his new legs. So, with a little trepidation, the spider web-patterned Naiad left the shadows and made his way to the door of the Healing House.
Pushing the door open, he announced himself hesitantly. "Hello? I came about this... election... I would like to learn about it." He blinked his eyes to get them used to the dimmer interior, and noticed to Pae near the back, both tall like the one who had just left.
Come to think of it, wasn't Jazz tall like this, too? Were these all elders? He swallowed, suddenly twice as nervous. Was he even supposed to be here?
Maybe I should just leave... I don't think they've noticed me, yet, he thought, leaning against the wall to support his legs and twisting a piece of long black hair around his fingers. Torvil Hi sighed, "Yeah, you have a point there..." He drummed his finger on the table and shook his head slowly. "Oh well, now I know what NOT to say..." Then he heard the voice and looked up. "Oh yes, please, do come in..." spookyx7 "Yes, just think and then talk." Ivy let out a small laugh, she doubted that small thing would matter. When it came down to it Hi was a great pae, strike that, Elder. Ivy turned her head to see the new visit. He wasn't like any pae she had ever seen before. "Welcome!" rimedragona Oops. Too late now. Still holding onto the end of his chunk of hair, Aoaka moved forward into the room, nodding to both of them.
"Uhm... My name is Aoaka, it's... it's nice to meet you sir, miss," he said, awkward and formal like usual when meeting someone new, made even a bit worse by the fact that he was talking to two elders for the first time with no one else around. For someone who was a bit of a recluse, he wasn't doing the "meet new people" thing in baby steps.
Okay, then... he thought, and took a steadying breath before he continued.
"I wondered what an... 'election' was. It sounds important." he started, not sure how to continue. That was the truth of the matter, though. He'd never heard of such a thing before. Torvil Hi chuckled and bowed his head. "Hi," He smiled and turned his body, leaving his work on the table forgotten. "Simply put, an election is when a group of people come together and vote to decide who they want to run their government. It could be a country, a city, or just a small group of people. It's considered democratic. Though, in this case, it actually leads to a representatial democracy." Hi blinked and laughed again.
"My, that acutally wasn't simply put now was it?" He fixed his gloves and shook his head, letting his hair settle against his back. "Basically, people vote for who they feel is best suited to tell them what to do." rimedragona Aoaka had just blinked at the first explanation. It had gone way over his head, and he was relieved when the elder explained it even more simply.
"But... why do I need someone to tell me what to do? I don't do much... I just stay in my cave, and swim in the lake... I visit Hula Bob's sometimes..." he tilted his head, trying to wrap his mind around the situation. Torvil Hi smiled. "Sometimes people end up with problems that they don't know how to solve on their own, or they decide that they don't want to bother with thinking for themselves, so they elect a government and then feel that it is no longer 'their' problem." Hi sighed, suddenly feeling very cynnical, and not really wanting to rub off as such, but knowing that he probably was going to.
"It's unfortunate, but often times when this happens people being to complain about what their government does. They complain about laws that would not need to be in place if they thought for themselves, but since they installed a government, they feel that they don't have to, and that they can go about their lives as they please, and then, when one of them screws up and starts to complain and gets a law into effect, those that knew better in the first place just shake their heads and sigh. It gets even worse, as time goes by, and people stop voting, that is, in the case of a representative republic, and they complain when their leaders do things they don't like. Plainly put, if people would just speak up, then there wouldn't be a problem at all!"
Huffing a little Hi shook his head. "I apologize, I think I went off on a tangent there..." rimedragona Aoaka blinked again. That was a lot of information to absorb so quickly. "So... people aren't thinking, so we have to elect a government? And we decide who we think will make the best... uhm... laws?"
This was suddenly a lot a bigger than he'd thought it would be.
"I'm sorry, I don't think I quite get it.. but... what sort of laws would you make?" he asked, thinking that if it was going to happen whether he understood it or not, he better at least know what Hi was planning. Torvil Hi chuckled, "Kind of... but not really, the situation on the Isle isn't that bad yet..." He shook his head and moved his fingers a little. "Well..."
"I plan on protecting the Isle from threats, both those from outside of the isle and those within. I don't really intend to make laws, I feel that so far, people have been doing a good job of policing themselves... and besides... I've yet to hear of any pae killing another... so, so far, so good..." rimedragona Aoaka looked aghast. "Why would one Pae kill another Pae? That's awful!" he said, shaking his head.
But, Hi said it hadn't happened, so it wasn't something he intended to worry about too much, not yet.
"What kind of threats? I didn't think many people came from outside the Isle... and I didn't know there were threats in the isle."
He thought hard, but he honestly couldn't come up with anything. Everyone he'd ever met had been nice. That wasn't saying much, but he thought since the few people he'd met had been nice, that was a good indication of the rest of the people. Torvil "I know a few people on the Isle that I have my eye on... They could cause trouble, and I rather hope they don't..." He chuckled weakly and shook his head. "I wouldn't worry too much thought, those that would cause harm mostly likely won't get far into it. For the most part, the people here are too good to let such a thing happen. That is why I feel I don't need to impose laws." rimedragona Aoaka frowned. There were Pae, then, that weren't as nice as everyone he'd met. That was useful information, so he tucked it away. He hoped he never met them, or at least not in any significant way.
"But you said there were threats. Why would people want to hurt us?" he just didn't understand. The Pae'il were happy on their island, and he didn't know of anyone who left it. So they couldn't be causing problems for others. Why would they want to threaten the Pae'il? spookyx7 Ivy sat at ther table with the flyers. She listened in and didn't say a word. She wasn't running so her opinions on the matter weren't needed. She just hoped she wasn't confusing the poor pae. Torvil Hi frowned, "Why would anyone want to hurt anyone?" He hated answering a question with a question, but it worked. "But it happens, and it's good to stand ready, just it case." rimedragona Aoaka shook his head. He didn't know. "I've never wanted to hurt anyone... I don't know why."
He sighed, feeling a bit stupid comparitively. He'd never thought about such things before, so he had not answers to give. Of course, Hi wasn't answering his questions, either... but maybe the answers were secrets.
Aoaka decided to let it drop. "So... how would we do that?" he asked, in response to Hi mentioning 'standing ready.' "Do we keep lookouts?" He thought that sounded silly. Even if you saw someone coming, they were already on their way. How could you stop someone from hurting you if they were already throwing a rock?
"Or... we could... learn to dodge?" he ducked his head, his long hair falling infront of his face. That was even more stupid. He was making a fool of himself, here. So he just shut up. Torvil Hi chuckled. "Those are actually good ideas..." He said with a smile, before drawing the Master Sword of Flames from its sheath and letting the light from the blade fill the room with it's heat. "I myself keep watch, and should danger ever rear it's head, I intend to cut it off." rimedragona Aoaka looked up. "Really? They're not stupid? I don't know anything about fighting..." he was interrupted by the drawing of the sword, and he trailed off in awe.
"Wow. That looks strong!" he said, looking at the blade. With something like that, maybe Hi could keep the Isle safe from threats. And he seemed fine with how things were going now, so until there was a threat, he would let things go as they would. Aoaka was nodding very slightly as he thought, but he hadn't made up his mind yet. He had other's to visit, after all. spookyx7 Ivy sighed and walked to the window. She wasn't sure what she was doing here. She wasn't really needed. They just talked on without her...which made since; Ivy wasn't running for mayor. Ivy wondered why she backed Hi so fast without even meeting the other two running? He did break her heart that long time ago. Ivy turned to see the other two talking about Hi's sword and then looked back out the window again, wondering what she was to do next? rimedragona Aoaka had noticed Ivy in the back, but he wasn't sure what to do, either. Could he say hello to her? Would Hi think he was rude?
But... she was an elder, too, right? Aoaka bit his lip, and then asked Hi, "Is... is she running, too?"
He gestured towards Ivy, and looked questioningly back and forth between the two of them. Torvil Hi sheathed his sword and stepped off to the side. "I don't think she is, but if she was, I'd be in serious trouble," He chuckled and bowed his head. "That's Ivy, she's a far more important Elder than I." He smiled and looked to her. "Hey Ivy, why aren't you running?" spookyx7 Ivy pulled her eyes away from the window as Hi called out her name. She put on her smile and tried to forget the thoughts from earlier. "Oh, well, I can't leave my home. A city is no place for me." Ivy had to be surrounded by plant-life. She was nothing without it. "A leader I am not, Hi is more the type, why, I'm here." Torvil Hi laughed and walked over to her, wrapping an arm around her waist he started to slowly walke her over towards their 'guest'. "Ivy you don't give yourself enough credit!" He laughed and motioned with his hand. "I'm sure you would make a wonderful leader all your own!" His smile was geninue as well as his words. "I have to digress, without Ivy here I would be dead in the water right now," He bowed his head. "She's really the heart of the operation here," spookyx7 Ivy smiled and then had a slight blush as Hi led her back by the waist to the other pae. "Now, I don't know about all that." She really didn't think she could be a great leader, but she did think she could help Hi become one. "I would rather help you." Torvil Hi smiled, "Without that help I'd be utterly screwed," He bowed his head to the other pae with them with a light chuckle. "I'm not afraid to admit that, there is no way I could do any of this by myself." spookyx7 Ivy blushed a bit darker, "Stop, you're making me blush. You would do just fine without my help and you know it." Hi had that winning personality and he knew just what others needed to hear. That was something Ivy was not good at. Torvil "Feh, I would not, and I would know, so there," Hi chuckled and shook his head slowly. "See isn't she the most modest thing ever?" Hi laughed weakly and shook his head. "I swear Ivy, you're really not giving yourself enough credit..." He eyed her and smiled. spookyx7 ivy shook her head, "Seriously stop." She then giggled, "How can I give myself credit when it's more fun to hear it from you?" She still had the blush, it was hard not to. No one complimented her this much in ages. rimedragona Aoaka had watched the pair competing for modesty in silence, eyes flicking back and forth between them as they spoke. He soon had a small half-smile creeping across his face, and he bowed his head to Ivy before speaking.
"Well, it is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Ivy. I think Mister Hi will do very well with your help," he said, and nodded to Hi as well.
He thought for a moment, wondering about any other questions he might ask the elder. He'd covered most of what he thought was important... then an idea occured to him.
"What if... we made friends with people? Then, they won't want to hurt us, right?" he asked, speaking about people from outside the isle. "What's the word for it? Allies?" he asked. Torvil Hi chuckled, and pulled Ivy a bit closer to him. "Alliances would be a good thing, as long as we could be sure the other side would keep their end of the bargin. That's the problem with dealing with people outside of the isle, with no laws to govern our actions as a whole, we really don't know if they will keep their side or not..." He shook his head. "It's risky, but I think, for the most part, a risk well worth taking." spookyx7 Ivy smiled, "You can just call me Ivy. It's very nice to meet you." She hadn't gotten used to being called "Miss" or "Elder" Ivy. She really didn't feel different from any other pae.
Ivy listened and nodded, "Allies? That sounds like a good idea." She then let Hi continue, she wasn't the one trying for Mayor so her imput didn't really matter. rimedragona With a nod, Aoaka thought about people from outside the isle. What were they like? He hoped they would be good friends.
"I think so. It's always worth it to try and make a friend, isn't it?" he asked Hi.
He nodded at Ivy, and said, "If that's what you want Mi-- Uh... Ivy." He blushed at his mistake and looked away. Torvil Hi chuckled. "Yeah, friends can be hard to come by, and it's worth a lot to get them, especially good friends," He bowed his head, shooting a look to Ivy and then letting his eyes slide away slowly. rimedragona Aoaka didn't really understand the look, but did get that they were saying something other than words. So he looked away for a moment before saying, "How do you think we can get to be friends with us?" he asked.
He was out of his depth here. All he could think of was gifts... but there were so many people, he didn't think the Isle could give out that many gifts. Torvil "Offer trade goods, services, places to live, stuff like that," Hi chuckled and waved his free hand. "Basically... Presents," He laughed slightly and then let out a long sigh. "Unfortunatly, I don't think we have an industrial set up that would allow us to run an operation of that size... yet..." spookyx7 Ivy looked away from Hi's look. Hi had been her first real friend before Chae, her first crush as well. She was barely listening to their talk but nodded. "How many outside people are there?" She hadn't met any, so the idea was interesting. rimedragona Aoaka nodded, surprised. He hadn't expected his idea to be right, even down to the inability to gift that many things to what he imagined to be a lot of people.
"Do you know, Hi? Are there a lot of people?" he asked, curious as well. Torvil Hi chuckled, "From what Sol says, there are nations upon nations of people outside of the isle, how many I can't even begin to fathomn," He shook his head slowly and let out a sigh. "But that doesn't mean we can't try to reason with them if it comes down to that, but I think, because of our location, we won't have much to worry bout dealing with outside nations for a long while, not until we've populated the isle to the point where there isn't enough room or resources to support it, then we might have to seek trade with other nations to keep ourselves fed," He chuckled. "But at the rate our population is growing, that would probably take hundreds if not thousands of years..." At least, from the amount of the Pae he'd seen on the isle, and also, because the HQ seemed to never run out of room.
The hand he had around Ivy's waist had started to move, much of it's own accord, and was very gently and quite soothingly, massaging her side. Hi didn't know he was doing it, as the majority of his attention was focused on the conversation with the two. His body was acting purely on subconcious impulse. rimedragona Aoaka's mind boggled at the size of the numbers. he thought there were quite a few Pae on the isle, but if their size was tiny compared to that of other nations, and there were a lot of nations...
He shook his head, giving up on the thought. They might not even need to make friends with the others for a long time. He would leave thinking about that alone until it became time to do so.
"I didn't know there were so many people in the world. It must be huge!" he said, wonderingly. It had never occured to him to wonder about it before. The world was as big as it needed to be, and for him, before this, it hadn't needed to be any larger than the places in the Isle he could easily visit. Torvil Hi chuckled, "Yes, it's amazing isn't it?" He had honestly been floored when Sol had brought it up awhile back, during one of their many late evening talks after training. In some ways, he wished the elderly Elder wasn't acting his age, because it was so hard to discuss things with Sol, though, Hi had a feeling it had more to do with what was going on with Sol's personal life than anything else. The Elder had grown distant from people as a whole, and that was starting to turn him a bit bitter. Hi had to supress a sigh as he thought about it. The only thing he could think of was getting Sol back out and about and talking to people, but the old man was so caught up in his resreach and work and training, that he gave himself no time for anything fun.
Hi was wondering how the man remained sane, he'd been much like him before he'd met Toga, and even with her gone he'd realized that sometimes you had to take a break or you'd lose your mind. Oh well, something to think about later, when he wasn't busy with guests.
"But as I said, we probably won't have to worry for a little while..." spookyx7 Ivy listened to the talk, it was all very fascinating. She hadn't thought about other people and places before. She was happy here on her little Isle in her garden.
Ivy barely felt the hand on her side. It was nice and soft she felt herself relax before realizing it was Hi. She then blushed and lightly pushed his hand away. Torvil He felt the push on his hand, and looked over at Ivy. Whoops! He felt himself blush and slowly pulled his arm back to his side, trying not to say anything about it. It could wait for when they were alone.
It was going to come up sooner or later, so Hi decided to make sure it came up sooner as opposed to later. spookyx7 Ivy felt the arm receed and then smile up at Hi. "Know anything about Earth?" Aspen had once mentioned the place. An elder named Luna told him about it. Ivy wondered if this was one of the places Hi meant. Torvil "Earth would be what's below this place," Hi said with a nod. "Or at least, I think so, I'm not sure, Sol would know better," He laughed weakly. "I only asked him about possible threats, which, to his report, were a lot," He sighed. "But he also told me not to worry about it." rimedragona Aoaka began to feel like he was intruding, just a little. So he decided to gracefully step back outside. Besides, he had other places to visit before his skin started to get dry!
"Well, uhm... Mister Hi, Ivy, I guess I don't have anymore questions. I should get going, too, so I don't get too dry. It was very nice to meet you, I hope we can meet again," he said, and nodded his head to both of them politely.
He wondered if he should shake their hands... but decided to wait and see what they did. Torvil Hi held out his hand and smiled. "It was a pleasure," He chuckled and bowed his head. "I do hope that you will come by again if you have anymore questions?" He waited to see what Aoaka would do. spookyx7 "It was very nice meeting you, Aoaka." Ivy said with a nod. She then waited for him to leave, she flet like Hi maybe wanted to talk to her alone, or at least she wasnted to talk to him. rimedragona Smiling at the gesture, Aoaka reached out and took Hi's hand, saying, "I definitely will! I'll tell people what I learned, too, if that's okay?" he semi-asked, semi-stated.
He smiled at Ivy, too, and nodded. "It was great meeting both of you. Thank you for putting up with me," he said, and then thought of something else as he started to turn to leave.
"Oh! Could I have a pamphlet or something? So I can read it?" he asked. Torvil Hi nodding his head and quickly snagged a pamplet, he moved back over and handed it over to Aoaka. "I do hope this helps you chose," He smiled. rimedragona "Thank you very much. Goodbye!" he said to the two elders as he turned again to go. He waved at them as he shut the door carefully behind himself.

~: Polgara's Campaign HQrimedragona After taking a few days to get used to his new form, Aoaka finally felt ready to venture onto the land again. First, he'd gone to that place by the Healing House, and while he was on that trip, he'd heard something mentioned about an election.
Now, he didn't know what this was, but it had been made to sound important. He'd also heard this place and date mentioned, and so had made it a point to journey out of the water for this.
He was unused to his legs still, his previous journeys on land having been done by floating, so he moved slowly and carefully though the door and into the room. It had taken him a while to get here, but he should have enough time to find out what an 'election' was before his skin started to get dry.
He paused at the entrance, taking note of the several Pae in the room, but didn't see anyone he recognized. If only there had been, I wouldn't be so nervous. I wish I was better at meeting people, he thought.
The three closest Pae were currently engaged in a conversation, so he stood patiently and quietly by the door, waiting to be noticed. It was rude to interrupt. Torvil Polgara turned her head and spotted a new person. "Oh! Hello! Do come in!" She smiled and waved at the newest guest. "Make yourself at home!" rimedragona He smiled and nodded at the Pae, who must also be an elder, he now realized. He'd gone to Hi's campaign room earlier, but had had to take a break to get back in the water before he made the trek here.
"Thank you, miss. My name is Aoaka, it's nice to meet you. Uhm... I heard you're going to be part of this election? Elder Hi told me what an election was, but I was curious about your ideas. I don't know if I count, though. I mean, I live in the lake..." he'd clasped his hands behind him, but he wasn't as nervous as he thought he'd be.
Maybe it was because she was inviting him in so nicely. He'd never had a problem with Hula Bob, who'd been the same way when they first met. He decided that yes, that must be it. And with that association came an unconscious warming towards Polgara. Torvil Polgara smiled. "Why I would be happy to answer any of your questions," She bowed her head and waved to Dizzy letting her know they would talk later. So many people she was having to juggle!
She felt alive, very much like when she'd been a mother. She laughed a little to herself. "And of course you count, anyone on the isle counts." rimedragona "I don't really know what to ask. Hm, well... since we're choosing who we think will make the best laws... what kind of things will you do?" he asked, smiling back at her, though he still clasped his hands together. Torvil Polgara smiled. "Well..." She rolled her shoulders and let out a breath of air. "I intend to make sure that the Isle is the happiest place it can be. I don't intend to make any laws, I think things are fine the way they are right now, though people could stand to be a little happier in their day to day lives, and I'd see to it that they were," She waved her hand and murmured. "Globe." In her hand appeared a globe that looked to hold a representation of the isle. "You see..." She said holding the globe up in front of her. "People on this wonderful floating island deserve to be happy, and I will summon that into existance for them." rimedragona That sounded good. It was better than Hi's talk of threats. Making people happy seemed a good way to keep threats away, too.
As Aoaka peered into the globe, looking down at the tiny isle, his mind worked. He asked, "But... I know what would make me happy, but wouldn't it be different for other people? What if two Pae have opposite things that would make them happy?" Torvil Polgara smiled, "I'll try to do my best to make sure both of them would be happy. I'm very sure they'd be able to reach a comprimise somehow, and I would be more than happy to mediate." rimedragona He thought about that. That sounded good. But... "There's a lot of Pae... are you sure you could handle it by yourself?" he said, sounding worried for her.
"Also I know some stubborn Pae who don't like to change their minds," he said, thinking. They usually got their way, too, because everyone else, including Aoaka, gave in after a while.
He continued, "So how would you make them compromise?" Torvil Polgara smiled. "I'm sure, I've been a mother, I know how to juggle lots of people..." She chuckled and covered her mouth a little. "As to the stubborn ones, well... Sometimes it takes a bit of heavy handedness to make them bend..." rimedragona Aoaka nodded, knowing that to be true. "You're right about that. So if Pae don't get along, and they won't compromise, you're going to... uhm..."
He thought about what could be done, but not being the one to stand up to the stubborn ones, he wasn't sure. Maybe because she was a mother, she knew better what to do.
"...Well, I don't know. What would you do?" he asked, curiously. rimedragona Aoaka nodded, smiling at the analogy, but then thought of something. "But... everyone's not nice, so what if they don't like that? Won't they just do what they want anyway? They aren't children, after all," he said, and tilted his head. Torvil Polgara laughed gently, "You'd be suprised how often stubborn people and children are very much alike." She smiled and then covered her mouth with the back of her hand. "Well, if thy do try to do what they want instead, I guess I'll just have to spank them now won't I?" rimedragona Aoaka laughed, too, and wondered if she was being literal or not. But he looked around, and nibbled on his lip.
"I think that sounds right. Only use punishment if you have to. Right? Do you have anything I could take home with me? So I can read? Or show others?" he asked. Torvil Polgara smiled and nodded her head. "Yes this table right over here!" She chuckled and started to walk towards the table stacked with all sorts of politcal literature: Pamplets, flyers, etc. rimedragona Aoaka followed obediently, and peered at all the flyers on the table. There were even little signs one could put up!
"Wow, that's a lot of things... Uhm... I'll just take one of these flyers and... this one, too," he said, and smiled up at the elder.
"I like you, Miss Polgara," he suddenly said, and then realized how forward sounding that was. "I mean... well... you're nice, and you're fun to talk to. I hope you do well." Torvil Polgara smiled and gave a small curtsy, "Why thank you," She chuckled softly and bowed her head. "I would have to say the feeling is mutual Mr. Aoaka," She grinned playfully at him before laughing and shaking her head slowly. "I hope I do well as well, if all goes well, there will be a bright new future for the isle, and you as well,"
Wow, did she use enough well in that sentence? rimedragona Aoaka smiled, glad that she liked him, too. He didn't like to be disliked, it made him feel like he'd done something wrong.
"Well... uhm..." he paused, not sure what to say. Now that his questions were answered, he was at a loss. "I should probably let you talk to other Pae, now. I'm sure they have questions, too," he said. He would have liked to have continued their conversation, but he hadn't thought of any topics, yet. Torvil Polgara chuckled a bit, "It's fine," She says with a bright playful smile, "I'm sure I'll get around to all of them by the end of the night..." She started to twirl a bit of her hair in her finger, and she tapped her chin. "Well Mr. Aoaka, is there a Mrs. Aoaka?"
Suddenly, she realized what she was doing and her face blanced. Oh Guardians, this would NOT do at all. Yes she was lonely, and yes this young man was nice, but good Guardians he had to be a lot younger than her... and she was FLIRTING WITH HIM! In public, on the night of her announcement to run for a PUBLIC OFFICE, no less.
Oh Guardians Pol! Focus damn you! rimedragona Aoaka blinked, caught off guard by the question, and then blushed, though the color was muted under his gray-tinted skin. He ducked his head for a moment, regaining his composure, and shook his head.
"N-no... I've never met anyone who I know well enough," he answered honestly, though his face was still hot. He wondered why she asked. Was she trying to play matchmaker, or was she flirting? Either way, he was secretly flattered.
But, she probably isn't serious... I mean... this is me, after all. Aoaka was a humble Pae, and though he knew he was a good Pae, he didn't think he was all that interesting.
"Uh... how about you? Do you have... a significant other? Are they here?" he asked. He thought she must, since she said she was a mother. Torvil This would be the point that Pol would have jumped up and down for joy, because the question he asked was the ONE question that would sober her giddy little butt up.
Quite of it's own accord, her face had pailed, and her eyes had grown sad, her hand slid slowly from her hair and her other hand just sorta flopped by her hip. Her eyes slowly crawled down to the floor to stare at her feet, and tears started to well up in them, one by one.
"Well... No, they aren't, becase they aren't anymore..." She sighed and shook her head, slowly letting it rise up as she wiped away the tears, hoping he hadn't noticed she'd been about ready to cry. She fixed a smile on her face, and tried to brighten her eyes. But it was hard, it was still a fresh wound, but one she felt had been worth inflicting if only becuase it got her out of a realtionship that was going nowhere fast.
"I'm a single mother, so to speak, though in truth I haven't had a child to call my own in what feels like a very long time, all of my children are grown," She smiles at Aoaka again, and bows her head slightly, letting out a weak laugh. "I tend to adopt strays, but my father won't let me keep any of them here, he's getting so finicky in his old age,"
Of course, now she was feeling old, and she hated that, because her father was starting to show signs of age himself, and he was only over a year. She wondered though, if he was just doing it because he had nothing better to do, or if it really was his age catching up to him. He was one of the first few to awaken, and one of the firsts to become and Elder. But that was not a thought she wanted to dwell on, so again she changed the subject.
"But that's really not all that important," She smiled and waved her hand over to the food. "Would you like something to eat? Drink?" rimedragona Aoaka felt terrible, and was mortified at himself. He had indeed seen the tears, and if there had been a rock to crawl under, he would have tried his best to do so.
"I'm sorry, miss Pol... I didn't mean to make you upset, I promise that I didn't," he said, sincerely, an attempt at an apology that, to his mind, came nowhere near to being enough. But, what else could he do?
She said it wasn't important, but he knew that wasn't true. If it made her want to cry, then it had to be very important. However, if she didn't want to talk about it, he wouldn't inflict the subject on her anymore. He made a mental note to never bring it up again.
Accepting her subject change, he nodded, grateful for the small distraction. He smiled, though it was a bit subdued, and said, "Something to drink, I think... I've been out of the water for a bit, and I'm feeling a little thirsty."
In fact, he was beginning to itch just a little, a sign that he should get back to the water soon before his skin became dry. But he didn't want to leave until he saw Polgara smile again, and for real, not because she was trying to change the subject. It had been his fault, so it was his responsiblity to make it up to her. Torvil Polgara nodded and made her way over to the table, looking around trying to find if she'd stashed water anywhere nearby. As luck would have it, she had, next to the booze, mainly for herself if she'd happen to get a little too lose with it on herself.
It happened from time to time, espcially if she was mixing drinks, because the sugar usually tricked her into thinking there was less alchohal in the drink than there acutually was.
Yes, Elders were supposed to set examples, but they're only human, and do have their faults. Polgara tried her best to remain as sober as humanly possible around others, because she didn't like how weepy she got when she drank, but since she hoped the net a bunch of concenting adults to help her out on campaign, she'd decided to furnish the party with some booze, just in case.
She was beginning to wonder if she was going to end up drinking it all.
That could get ugly.
Once she got the water, she poured it in a glass and headed back to Aoaka. "I got you some water, as you said that's where you came from, I can get you some punch instead if you'd rather," She smiled sheepishly, hoping she hadn't overstepped her bounds in her assumption. rimedragona Aoaka shook his head, smiling. "Water's fine, thank you. I like the daquiri's at Hula Bob's, especially the strawberry ones, but water is just what I need right now," he said.
"Do you ever go there?" he asked, curious. He'd never seen her... he'd never seen any elder there except for Jazz, actually... but he thought she'd get along well with the people he knew there. Torvil Polgara smiled, "No, not really," She said with a slight chuckle. "I usually just stay around the HQ working on things," She bowed her head, "I don't really go out all that often," She had to bite her tongue hard, preventing herself from asking if he'd like to take her out. rimedragona Aoaka frowned slightly, thinking. He didn't get out much, either, but thanks to people urging him to do so, he was getting better in that respect. He was much happier now that he had, too. He hadn't even known he wasn't happy before, but now he could see that he had been lonely. He wondered if Polgara was, too.
He nodded slightly, as though deciding something, and smiled at Polgara.
"You really should! I bet you'd have a lot of fun," he said, and paused. She was going to think he was rude... but... he fidgeted with his water glass for a moment before spreaking again.
"Maybe... you'd like to go to Hula Bob's sometime? With me? I could introduce you to everyone... and they have a dance floor and a bar...?" he asked, tensing as he waited for her response. He was out of line; Aoaka was sure of it. He fidgeted with his water glass again, before taking another drink to distract himself. Torvil Pol smiled, "I'd love to," She bowed her head and chuckled a little. "So uhm, set up a time?" She asked, her hand starting to wander back towards her hair.
SCORE! SCORE! Sure he was shorter than her and he was probably way younger than her, but what did she care, SCORE! rimedragona Aoaka opened his mouth to say that he understood, she didn't have to feel bad about not going... but stopped with it agape and blinked. Did she just say...?
"Really? That's awesome! Uhm... how about... in a few days? Is that too soon? Do you want to wait until the election is over?" he asked, a smile spreading across his face. She'd agreed! Torvil "A few days is fine, maybe I can spread the word in there if the boss will allow," She smiled and bowed her head. She knew Sol had gone, so maybe she could convince him to come again? NO! Bad idea! He'd watch her like a hawk and then she'd get NOWEHERE!
"I'd like to do it before the end of the elections, after all, better to get votes now than later," She grinned and suddenly was twriling her finger in her hair again. rimedragona Aoaka wanted to dance! But he wasn't completely sure of his land legs yet, and he was simply just too self-conscious to do so. So instead, he just smiled. A lot.
His eyes strayed to where she was twirling her hair, and he said, "I think Hula Bob won't care. He's really laid back, as long as everyone gets along." He saw her grin, and cheered in his mind. Success! He'd gotten her to smile again, for real!
Another drink from the glass as he thought, and then he spoke. "So... what do you like to do? I heard there's a library in the healing house, but I prefer exploring the lake. Maybe once I get more used to walking around I'll be more interested," he said, and blushed a bit, sheepishly. Torvil "I like to read, take care of children, dance, and have fun," Polgara said in a light and happy tone. "I'm not much of a swimmer, my mom was, but I haven't seen her in ages," She sighed softly. "It's driving dad nuts, but I think he's gotten over her and come to grips with the fact that she's not coming back."
She shrugged and let it go at that, refusing to let it dampen her mood at all. rimedragona "Oh, but swimming is fun! You don't even have to go deep, if you don't want to. The shallows can be fun, too, especially when you get some waves coming in and they splash against you," he said, not sure at all how to respond to the comments about her mom. He didn't want to continue a topic that might make her sad again.
"I like children, too, but I don't know very many... I mean, those I did know grew up, and I haven't met any others. And I... well... I don't know how to dance..." he said, a bit embarassed. But then again, he hadn't had very many opportunities to do so, either. Torvil Polgara smiled, and decided to leave out the fact that he might like her grandchildren... That could wait.
"I'll have to give it a try," She smiles, before bowing her head a little and letting out a little sigh. "Perhaps... You can teach me?" rimedragona Aoaka nodded, and smiled. "That would be fun, I think. So... If I teach you how to swim, will you try to teach me how to dance? No promises that I'll be any good at it..."
He chuckled self-deprecatingly and took another sip from his water cup. Torvil Polgara smiled. "Of course! I'd love to teach you how to dance," She smiled and bowed her head slowly, trying to hide a growing blush.
She was crushing so hard on this guy it wasn't even funny! rimedragona "Great! I hope it's not too hard. But if you teach me, I think I'll learn quickly," he said, and smiled. He didn't seem to realize he was flirting, and if he had realized, he would have been embarrassed at himself. Torvil Polgara smiled. "I'll do my best, but I won't make any promises," She said with a light chuckle. "But I'm sure you'll do wonderfully!" She said with a happy laugh. rimedragona Aoaka smiled. "Thank you. I hope so, anyway," he said. He fiddled with his cup for a moment before taking another drink, somewhat at a loss for conversation topics. He didn't want to touch on something that would ruin the happy mood.
And he was beginning to itch, which meant he couldn't stay very long anymore. He wished he didn't have to go back to the water, for once.
"Uhm, Polgara? I know you're busy... otherwise I'd ask if you wanted to walk with me. But, I need to get back to the water. I've been out almost all day, and I'm getting... itchy," he said, his smile turning a bit sheepish. Torvil Polgara looked around, and smiled. "I guess I could walk you back to the lake there seems to be a lull, so it shouldn't be a problem," In truth, she was a bit saddened that he had to go, but she did want to see him off, so she figured she'd walk him out. rimedragona Aoaka looked around. She was right, the room was empty. Perhaps because it was evening, but that didn't matter. He smiled and nodded.
"I would love to have you walk with me, Polgara," he said. "It's not too far, and the lake is really beautiful at night," he added. He wondered if she saw the lake at night very often.
He quickly set his cup down, and, hoping she would accept, he held out his hand for her to take. Torvil Polgara took his hand and smiled. "Lead the way," She said softly, quite happy to walk him home. She used to walk by the lake all the time... Now she would have more reason to! rimedragona Aoaka squeezed her hand gently, and smiled as he started to walk. He pushed open the door, and held it for her, nodding her through. "Ladies first," he said. Politeness was a necessity with him.
As they walked towards the beach, he looked up at the sky. "Look, stars are coming out!" he said, and pointed with his free hand. "I love to watch the stars. Sometimes, I just float out in the water at night and watch them move above. Their reflections on the lake... it's like I'm floating in the stars," he said. He liked that notion, it seemed very peaceful. Torvil Polgara smiled and looked up at the sky as they walked, after all, he was talking about the stars. "Yes, they are rather beautiful," she said, looking up at them for a few moments longer, before her eyes turned to Aoaka. "I like that, maybe after you teach me to swim, I can float in the stars with you too," She smiled coyly and her free hand started to play with her hair. rimedragona Aoaka fell silent for a moment, and thought about that. Being able to share that with someone... that would be very nice, indeed.
"I'd like to share that with you," he said, and smiled. He tilted his head as he saw her play with her hair. She'd been doing that a lot, and he was overcome with curiousity. "Polgara, if you don't mind my asking... why do you play with your hair? I sometimes do when I'm nervous... I hope I don't make you nervous," he added, nodding his head slightly and earnestly.
He watched her as they walked. He knew the way to the lake very well; he almost didn't have to watch where he was going to get back there. And she was even prettier in the pale light rather than the artificial light of inside. He didn't even seem to realize that the Aoaka of a few hours ago would have been mortified at himself for presuming to think that way about an elder. But now, it seemed perfectly natural. Torvil Polgara looked at her hand for a moment and let it drop, blushing slightly as Aoaka noticed. "No, no... Not nervous," She giggled, and clapped her hand over her mouth.
Polgara had not giggled in AGES, she slowly lowered her hand and smiled. "No, no, when I do that... it's cause... I'm intereseted in something..." rimedragona Aoaka smiled when she giggled. He liked the sound of it. Then he tilted his head. Interested in something...?
"Oh, I see. I'll have to remember that," he said, and chuckled. They rounded a bend in the path, and quite a ways below, the faint reflection of the lake could be seen through the trees. rimedragona Aoaka blinked, and then looked up at her, before looking back down to the lake, and slowed his walking pace to an amble. "We don't have to hurry," he stated.
He hadn't taken it the wrong way at all. In fact, he'd rather gotten a warm fuzzy feeling from the statement. He squeezed her hand again, and swung it gently between them, playfully. Torvil Polgara blushed a bit and nodded her head, squeezing his hand back she smiled. She let him set the pace, because if she were the one to set it... well... They probably would have been walking backwards at this point.
"So, what's it like... Living in the lake?" She asked, since she did want to learn a bit more about him. rimedragona Aoaka nodded. "Well, I actually live in a rocky cave by the shoreline. It's down that way a bit," he said, pointing.
"It's got a bit of dry bottom, but most of it is shallow water. I tried to make it more, erm... homey, I guess... than a simple cave. I have a firepit I dug outside, and shelves and such... but the lake itself is beautiful. Underwater, there are forests of water plants, and they sway back and forth, and the sunlight shines through the waves, making everything glisten... it's never the same twice," he said, smiling to think about it.
"Pae can drop the most interesting things down there, though most of it isn't recognizable by the time anyone finds it. Most of it I just leave there. It's not hurting anything, so why move it?" he asked.
He looked over at Polgara to see if she was interested or not, or if she had any questions. Torvil Polgara smiled and nodded her head a bit. "It sounds lovely," She smiles and turns her head to watch Aoaka. "Oh? Is there every anything that is?" She was sure there must be many wonderful treasures at the bottom of the lake!
Like Aoaka for this particular instance! rimedragona Aoaka thought, then smiled, "I haven't found anything, really. I think... well, there was one time I found something that looked like a old carved stone chair. It had some plants growing in it, though, and I couldn't lift it, so I left it. Oh! And I did find a broken vase that cleaned up really nice, except the handle was gone. I have it on a shelf," he said, and nodded. He couldn't think of anything else at the moment.
He wondered if there was a way that Pol could breath underwater. He'd like to share these things firsthand with her. Telling her was nice, but being there to see her reactions when she saw them would be better. He frowned lightly for a moment, but couldn't think of anything.
"Do.. you think there's someway that would let you go under with me?" he asked, smiling hopefully. Torvil Pol smiled. "I'm sure we can figure a way to do it..." She said with a nod of her head, already thinking of asking Sol. Her mother would have no trouble in doing so, but her element was water, not... Well summoning things, which is what Pol did. She knew of course that she wasn't the best swimmer ever, and her ability to hold her breath was suspect, she'd figure something out tho! rimedragona Aoaka nodded, sure that Pol would indeed find a way. He didn't think anything he knew would help, because he had never had to learn how to breathe water. It just... happened.
They continued to walk slowly down the path, his mind wandering. "It would nice if we could find a way to bring air to you," he said, and then blinked. Had he said that out loud? Oops, he hadn't meant to... it would never work anyway.
"Sorry, that's a silly idea. How would we do that? Air wants to rise, not sink," he said sheepishly. Torvil Pol blinked. "Wait..." She thought for a moment over some of the thing she read in her books and she laughed. "I think I got it figured out, but I'll need to do a bit more research," Shaking her head she smiled. "You're a very smart Pae Aoaka, I'm surprised you didn't think of it sooner!" rimedragona Aoaka was confused, and didn't feel very smart at all. What exactly had he thought of? "So... it's not silly? You mean you can do that? Or someone can? That's great!" he exclaimed.
"Do you think I could come with you when you do your research, Polgara? I'd like to see what you do... and, there are some things I want to look up, to. I heard about Pae history, and I want to learn about it," he was smiling earnestly. Torvil Polgara smiled, "You'd want to talk about Sol for that... BUt I have a good idea on what I'm going to do, I just want to verify that I'm right, and it would only be reading my books again..."
Oh hell! Her books! She couldn't let Aoaka see those! They were... improper! rimedragona Aoaka nodded, but asked, "Who is Sol? Would he or she be around while you research?"
He'd thought he'd have to go through plenty of books to learn what he wanted to know, but if there was someone he could ask questions of, that would be even better. Books are good at holding information, but they can't answer questions if you don't understand what they're saying to you.
He let the matter drop, and simply concentrated on the feel of Polgara's hand intertwined with his. They were nearing the lake shore now, and Aoaka, though he was having a good time, was starting to find it hard to ignore his itching skin. Every now and again, he'd reach his free hand over to scratch at his arm absently.
"I think I know just the thing to show you first, once you figure it out. But it'll be a surprise," he said, and smiled broadly at her. Torvil Polgara smiled and nodded her head. "Yeah, he'll be there... Sol is my father, one of the first Elders of the isle, he doesn't get out much anymore, tends to coop himself up with books and studies 'round the clock, I worry for him sometimes, it's not healthy..."
Neither was spending all your life pineing over things that could have been, but she wasn't going to do that anymore. rimedragona Aoaka smiled. "Oh, he's your father! That's awesome. I'd love to meet him. And I'm sure he must have some idea what I'm looking for, too. Maybe... if he'd like to tell me some of what he knows... maybe I could get him to go for a walk to do so. It'd get him out of the house, right?" he asked.
They were almost at the lake shore, which was coming up around the next bend in the path. Of course, it was still then some distance to Aoaka's home, and Aoaka, for one, wouldn't mind extending the walk to there. Nor sharing what the lake looked like in the low light of dusk. There were even a few stars out to reflect on the water's surface. Torvil Polgara chuckled. "It would at that, and probably have him camped in your house for months on end, trying to figure out this new great mystery," She shook her head slowly and let out a long sigh. "But I suppose we all must do the things we're meant to do, and it seems my father is meant to spend his remaining days hunched over large tomes trying to discover what was lost, and having no idea where to start." rimedragona "I don't think it's that great a mystery, is it? Pae'il history? I mean, I don't know much about it, but I was a Merion," he said, puzzled. How could so many people not know about their history?
Aoaka thought for a second, then said, "Sometimes, it can just help to talk it out with someone. I know it helped when I was growing up and I would ask Hula Bob and Jazz things. They didn't know much better than I did, but they asked questions that made me think," and nodded slowly.
They had reached the shore, and the waves lapped gently on the sand, the low light making the water dark and mysterious. Aoaka slowed to a stop and just watched the waves for a few moments in silence, holding Polgara's hand. He didn't want to go back, he realized. A gusty sigh escaped him, sounding a bit frustrated. Torvil Polgara laughed a little, but is was slightly strained. She didn't want this to end, but she knew it needed to. After all, absence makes the heart grow fonder! She smiled at Aoaka and bowed her head. "Well... It might at that, but my father isn't the most talkative of people, he used to be... but well... Life wears down on you..." She made a vauge motion with her hands, almost apathetic. "So... This is your stop..." rimedragona Aoaka looked at the ground and bit the side of his lip. It was indeed his stop, though he would like to keep talking. So he looked up and smiled at her, giving her hand a squeeze before letting go.
"I suppose you're right. I... I had a very nice time... maybe we could meet again?" he asked, feeling very presumptuous. After all, he was just a visitor to the campaign HQ. But, then again, she hadn't offered to walk with anyone else who'd been there. Maybe he wasn't as presumptuous as he'd thought. Perhaps they could be friends... Torvil "Definatly! It's a date!" She smiled and let go of his hand slowly before waving and taking a step back.. Then another... and another... and another...
"Bye!" She called, before quickly turning and heading up the path again.
She didn't want him to see her spazz... rimedragona Aoaka watched her go, his hand coming up unconsciously to tug at a handful of his long hair. He stood there until she was out of sight, then turned around to face the water. He'd not only secured a meeting with someone who could help him learn about history, but she'd said that she'd like to meet him again! Someone who wanted to see what it was like under the lake... someone beautiful, too...
Lucky... he thought, as he stepped into the waves and changed back, smiling wide the whole way back to his cave.

~: Visting the Grillrimedragona Aoaka was getting used to his legs now, and he thoughtfully walked his way up the beach to Hula Bob's. It was a couple days since he'd visited the election HQ for the running Pae, but he was still trying to digest what he'd heard. It was all so confusing! It had been a couple days before the campaign visits that he'd last seen Jazz. That had been what had made him think of coming up the beach again for a visit.
He pushed open the door, this time with non-webbed hands, and walked instead of floated in the door. He wondered if Jazz had told Hula Bob, or if the other would recognize the Naiad on his own.
"Hello! I'm sorry I've been away for so long!" he called, and waved to those in the room. immortalmina "The limbo is quite fun. Though, I'm a big cheater. I guess Tiki Jim here could cheat really well now too." She winked to her son, as she knew he had a similar power to her own. "The hula is also fun."Tiki Jim shook his head. "Mom. We can limbo here. It's not that hard. It's just a game really. Two people hold a pole and then we try to go under it without touching it with out tummys or any other body part." Tiki Jim explained.Zoe giggled and ran out the door. She was ready to play tag and the faster she got out there the faster she was to get away.Jet waved and smiled. "Have fun and yes be good!" He then hugged Wednesday with a nuzzle. "What do you want to do now?""Aloha Aoaka!" Jazz called to the Naiad that walked in. It wasn't shocking this time as she had seen him in the lake. She had told Hula Bob, though she wasn't sure he'd remember.Hula Bob looked at him for a long while. "Awesome change, dude."
Maui mimiced, "Dude." rimedragona "Aloha, Jazz! And thanks, Hula Bob!" he smiled and waved at the greetings.
Feeling a bit daring today, Aoaka spun in a circle, arms outstretched, showing off his new form. He then headed to the counter with a smile on his face, and peered with curious eyes at the parrot Hula Bob was now sporting.
"Awesome! When did you get a parrot?" he asked, carefully holding out a hand towards the bird, ready to pull it back if it looked like the bird was going to bite. He had seen them in the trees, but had never been this close to one.
After checking out the bird, he looked curiously at the others in the room. He recognized Luau Lulu, of course, and there was something familiar about the young Pae near her...
Then it hit him, and his jaw dropped a little. He shouldn't have been surprised, not with all the changing he'd done in his life, but the last time he'd seen Tiki Jim... well, he'd grown since then. immortalmina Luau LuLu nodded. "Well, if we can get two of these folks to hold the pole we can try doing the limbo. Though, Tiki Jim and I cheat." She again winked to her son.
She saw the new Naiad at the bar. He seemed familar. The pattern of spiderwebs really seemed familar."I don't always cheat. You are the one that does that!" Tiki Jim shook his head then roll his eyes. "Jazz could float the pole for us. Then we wouldn't have to bother the others?"
Tiki Jim also noticed the Naiad. It was harder for him to reconize as he was so much younger then.Jet smiled. "Well, then my Lady to the table we go." He pulled her hand over to the table. "Now, let's eat and then we can dance!" That was a date to him, anyway.Jazz watched the Naiad. It was really still odd to her, but also kinda cool. Aions/Merions had now adapted to become Pae. This way they wouldn't die out. It was neat how the Gaurdians worked.
"Did someone say limbo?" Jazz asked the ground with a nod."Well, she just came to me one day. Her name is Maui. Say hi, Maui." Hula Bob told the parrot with a wink.
Maui let the male touch her. "Say hi, Maui." she mimiced. Then said to Bob, "You needed me." rimedragona Aoaka stroked the birds feathers a few times, gently. "They're smooth! Thank you, Hula Bob, Maui." he said, nodding with a happy smile, then looked over at the activity on the floor.
He wriggled his toes a bit, deciding if he should go say hello to Luau Lulu and Tiki Jim or not. They seemed to be involved in something, so he didn't want to interrupt, but maybe everyone could join?
"What are they doing over there, Hula Bob?" he asked, and pointed out onto the floor.
kemo_chan "I could try..." Reira responded shyly. Glancing around, she noticed a somewhat unusual Pae talking to Hula Bob and looking in their direction, but she managed to shrug it off. He was probably just wondering what the group of them was up to.
Focusing back in on the conversation in time to hear Tiki Jim defend himself against accusations of being a cheater, Reira smiled and laughed lightly. She understood what the two were talking about. "I can't cheat, so you don't have to worry about that!" she commented. immortalmina "I'll be right back for limbo, guys." She told the group as she walked over to Jet and Wednesday. "What would the two love birds like for dinner? Something with candle light?" Jazz smiled as she floated two candles over to them. She lit them and set them on the table. Jazz then floated away the kids's dirty plates.Jet thought about it for a moment. "I will have a burger and fires. Thanks so much, Mom." He smiled in the directions for his mother's voice. "Then we will dance!""Well, I think Reira is meething Luau LuLu. I also hear the limbo. So, they might be doing that soon. You could join them if you want. It is awesome!" He nodded with a smile.
Maui mimiced, "Awesome!""That sounds good to me. Don't worry I won't cheat and we just won't count my mom. That seems fair to me." Tiki Jim nodded and winked to both of them."Hey, now!" Luau LuLu shook her head. "Maybe I won't cheat then. I can still beat ya!" rimedragona "I remember Luau Lulu, and is that Tiki Jim? You don't think they'd mind? I'm not sure I know how to limbo. Did you ever do it while I was here before?" Aoaka asked, trying to remember, but he didn't think so. immortalmina Jazz nodded. "That's why I only float the bar. As I could float it and go under, but in this taller body it's way to hard." Jazz giggled. Still, the thought of trying she figured she would float the bar up for herself.Hula Bob watched and clapped. "Awesome! All of you are doing great!" He chuckled as he watched. The bartender then began to clean up a few things.
Maui chuckled, "Doing great!"Tiki Jim clapped for Reira. "You did great, like Hula Grandaddy said. It's fun, right?" He winked to her with a nod.Luau LuLu nodded to them all. "Wait till I cheat. Then it will be easy...for me!" She laughed a fake evil laugh then giggled. She was going to try her best not to cheat.Jet smiled and walked with Wednesday to the dance floor. He put his arms around her and began to dance. There was the normal Hawaiian music playing on the bar's stereo. kemo_chan "Thanks!" Reira responded, nearling bouncing with happiness. Everything was going so well! "It is fun." She returned the wink. She still hadn't mastered the motion, but it seemed essential around here and it made her smile.
She laughed at Luau Lulu's comment, understanding now that she was only joking. It was hard to imagine anyone here being particularly competitive. spookyx7 "Me next!" Mei Lien went under the bar, but her being as flaky and clumbsy as she was she knocked the bar out of the air. "Oops..I guess I'm out already." Mei Lien's face turned bright red as she went to stand by Blake. immortalmina Hula Bob chuckled at Mei. "Here you are dudette. Better luck next time. Bummer." He pointed to a milk shake on the bar for her. He then winked.
"Bummer." Maui mimiced.Jazz chuckled. "Yep, you're out. That's okay, at leat you tried!" Jazz smiled and floated the bar back to where it needed to be. Only Blake next."Tiki Jim smiled. "Yeah, I think it's really fun. Just like surfing. Now we just need to do something you like to do that I've never done." He nodded to Reira. He wanted to know what she liked to do as well."As long as it's safe." Luau LuLu nodded as she didn't want her son to get hurt. Not that Reira would get him hurt, she was just overprotective like her father.Jet smiled as he danced with his love. "They sound like they are having fun. Not that we aren't. It's nice to be with you like this again. Just us..." He kissed her cheek with a smile. rimedragona Aoaka wasn't sure he wanted to try limbo-ing again, but he didn't think the game was over yet, and he didn't want to quit. "So... what happens after everyone goes?" he asked.
He noticed the female teen he didn't know and Tiki Jim looking like they were getting ready to leave, and he looked over at Luau Lulu. Well, he supposed he could go see if she remembered him...
He sidled over to her, and coughed lightly. "Uh... miss? Hi, I'm Aoaka... do you remember me?" he asked, practically blurting it out, and feeling rather embarrassed. He'd completely forgotten his manners. immortalmina Hula Bob nodded. "Well, we go again. Once everyone goes. Then the pole goes lower to the ground until everyone is out...well but one lucky dude or dudette that wins!" He chuckled.
"That Wins!" Maui mimiced.Luau LuLu smiled to Aoaka. "I think you might be Aoaka, but you are different looking now. If it is you nice to see ya!" she smiled and nodded to the now Naiad.Tiki Jim smiled. "So, what is it then? I'm dieing to know!" He chuckled to Reira. Though, if they left they wouldn't get to limbo any longer.Jazz nodded. "If Blake doesn't want to go, then it's time for the second round." Jazz then lowered the pole a little so that it would be harder for some. invader teri Blake leaned on Mei Lien's shoulder and chuckled. "You tried your best, love." He kissed her on the cheek then resumed nuzzling into her shoulder. rimedragona Aoaka was glad of the explanation, and smiled at Hula Bob before answering Luau Lulu. "Yes, it's me! I helped you teach Tiki Jim to swim. Is that... him?" he asked, pointing at the teen. He still wasn't sure, but he thought it looked like the same person. kemo_chan Reira laughed when Tiki Jim showed more interest in what she had come up with than she expected. After all, she didn't do anything exciting like surf or dance to live music. So she brought her finger up to her lips and told him, "Shh, it's a secret!" and giggled. "You'll find out later." She was getting pretty good at being a tease, in fact...
"Besides, I think it's your turn again!" she informed him, nudging him toward the pole once more. If she remembered right, it was actually Luau Lulu's turn, but she seemed to be talking to someone Reira didn't recognize and she didn't want to interrupt. immortalmina Luau LuLu giggled. "Yep that's him. Almost all grown up. He's a teen now. So, how have you been? You look awesome!" She winked at the now Naiad. It was good to see him.Tiki Jim blushed for some reason then nodded. "Oh, Okay!" He headed over to the pole and went under it slowly. He made it under pretty well without using his power.Jet smiled. "Oh, I'm sure Mom would love to any time." He then spun her around. It was nice. "I think we need more romantic music." He chuckled at the Hawaiian music. rimedragona Aoaka nodded, then asked, "Do I? It's so different from being a Merion." But he smiled at the compliment, only a little embarrassed.
"I've been good. I've met a few new people. I heard about the election, and I went to visit all the candidates. I don't know who to choose, they all have good ideas." He shook his head, sighing.
He caught sight of Tiki Jim going under the pole, and smiled. "He's good at that. I bet I won't make it past this round," he said ruefully. kemo_chan Reira watched as Tiki Jim took his turn doing the Limbo. Once he was finished, she glanced around before commenting, "Guess it's my turn..." in a nervous but upbeat voice. She approached the pole and carefully bent back. When she started to go under the pole, she wavered a bit before falling back. In a split second, she let out a quiet noise between a gasp and a shriek, fluttered her wings a bit to break the rather short fall, and hit the ground in a somewhat sitting position with a small thud. Turning a little darker, she managed to laugh off her loss as she got up. immortalmina Jazz watched as Reria was out. "Oh, that's too bad. Luau LuLu and Aoaka your turn." She looked over at the two chatting. She didn't mind being rude. At least once in a while."Want a shake?" Hula Bob asked Reira as he had given Mei one. He smiled to the girl. Limbo was fun anyway. Never ment to get sad over.
"Shake!" Maui mimiced. To Hula Bob she said, "That's too nice you know." Luau LuLu nodded. "Yeah? Election huh? For that city? Yeah, don't know if I care too much. Not big on moving." She then nodded again, this time for Jazz.
Luau LuLu took her turn. She went under without cheatting again. This suprised even her.Tiki Jim clapped. "I think you did rather good. At least you fall looked good." He chuckled and smiled to her. "Anyway, it was still fun, right?"Jet chuckled. "If I lead you too close to everone let me know. I'm going with my ears." He knew his ears were good, but even they could get turned around. kemo_chan Reira smiled at Hula Bob as she got up. It was nice of him to offer, and a shake sounded good. "Hmm... how about... banana?" she requested, remembering that the menu boasted any flavor. "Thank you!"
Rejoining Tiki Jim as Luau Lulu took her turn, Reira laughed at Tiki Jim's comment. "Well, thank you," she replied with just the slightest blush. "Of course, it was lots of fun!" spookyx7 "Yeah, that's true." Mei Lien smiled and watched the others. "Aren't you going to try, Blake?" She wanted to see if he could do it. rimedragona Aoaka decided to wait until after his turn to answer Luau Lulu's statement. He made his way carefully under the bar, and almost made it. But, at the last moment, he felt his balance start to go, and in his effort to catch himself, knocked his head straight against the bar before falling backwards.
"Oooff.." he muttered, before climbing back to his feet and giving a sheepish grin. "Well, I'm out, I guess!" he said, and returned to his conversation.
"Yeah, for the city. I'm not going to move there, either... I can't. But... I thought it might still be important. Won't they make decisions for everybody, not just the Pae in the city?" he asked, wondering now. He'd never actually asked about that while he was there. immortalmina Hula Bob nodded and made up a Banana shake for Reira. It was done in now time. "Here you are.""You're out Aoaka. Now it's just Tiki Jim and Luau LuLu left. Unless Blake wants to try now." Jazz said as she lowered the bar for the next round."Oh, well...they are only mayor of the city. I don't really know." Luau LuLu shurgged. "Okay, go my son." She winked at Tiki Jim.Tiki Jim smiled. "Now if I can just beat my mom without cheating. This will be awesome!" He nodded to Reira. He didn't got just yet. In case Blake wanted to try. invader teri Blake looked over to Mei and giggled. "Maaaaaaaaaaaaybe. But only if you do it WITH me. It'd make me oh so happy." He gave her a puppy-dog look and whimpered. "Pwetty pweeease?" kemo_chan "Thank you!" Reira said to Hula Bob as she picked up the milkshake and brought the straw to her lips. It was, of course, delicious.
She watched as the game continued and Jazz lowered the bar for another round. Secretly, she wondered if Tiki Jim and Luau Lulu would end up in a 'cheating contest' of sorts. When Luau Lulu signaled for her son to go first, Reira couldn't resist a little "You can do it!" and a smile. rimedragona Aoaka rubbed his forehead where he'd smacked it, and thought. "Well, I don't know, either. But, I told them I lived in the lake, and they still wanted my vote. So, I think everyone counts. Oh, well. It's not important, right? Not yet. Right now, this is what's important."
He smiled, and gestured around the bar, at everyone having a good time together. He privately thought that if everyone had a place like Hula Bob's, then Elder Hi's and Elder Coronus' predictions of a dark future wouldn't happen.
He glanced over at the bar, and then nodded his head to Luau Lulu. "Excuse me, please? I would like to get a drink. And I'll root for you two, okay?" he said, smiling broadly.
He headed to the bar, and reclaimed his stool. He asked, "Hula Bob? Can I have one of those Strawberry drinks I got last time? Was it a daquiri? I think so..." he trailed off, not sure. spookyx7 Mei Lien laughed, "I don't hink I can. I'm out, plus I don't think two can go at a time." She squeezed his hand, "I'll be rooting for you!" immortalmina Hula bob smiled and nodded. "Of course you can." Hula Bob went right to work on the drink. It was done. "Here you are dude. I hope it still as good!" he winked.
"Still as good." the bird mimiced.Jazz sat there waiting. "Well, why don't you go and then if Blake wants to he can?" She asked Tiki Jim and LuLu LuLu.Tiki Jim smiled and nodded to Reira. He then went and did it. Without cheating and pretty well. "I think I've gotten better!" That or was he showing off?Luau LuLu shook her head as it was her turn. She then went under and at the last second she phased through. She wasn't sure anyone would notice though. It wasn't that easy to see."Yeah, and I'm sure Christmas will be even more interesting!" Jet chuckled at the thought. Though, Zoe had gotten her gift of a guitar. rimedragona Aoaka certainly didn't notice any cheating. He was too busy enjoying his drink.
"It's just as good as last time, Hula Bob!" he said, pleased. He spun his chair around to watch the proceedings, and he looked over just as Luau Lulu straightened up from her turn.
He cheered her, and then looked over at the one he thought might be 'Blake', wondering if he would go or not. invader teri Blake gulped. He hated when he had to do things in front of people. "Durrr...uhh...okay." He walked up to the bar and leaned back as far as he could go. "Oof!" He went as far as falling onto his back. kemo_chan Reira sipped at her banana shake as she watched the Limbo continue. Of course Tiki Jim made it under fine, as did Luau Lulu. She didn't seem to notice that Luau Lulu used her ability to phase.
She watched as Blake took his turn, expecting him to do well. Already entertained by everyone else and surprised when he fell, she let a small giggle escape before quickly bringing her free hand up to cover her face, leaving a pair of gleaming golden eyes to glance around in case anyone heard her. She didn't want to seem rude by laughing at anyone; she was simply having a good time. spookyx7 "Hey, you didn't do too bad. At least you didn't knock the bar over." Mei Lien said with a smile. She put her hand out so that she could help Blake up. immortalmina Jazz giggled. "That was pretty good Blake. Okay, now the Mother and Son team left. Who is better? The older and wiser Luau LuLu or the teenage up and comer?" Jazz said as she waved them back.Hula Bob smiled. "Thanks Aoaka. I'm glad that it is. Not that I have changed anything." He looked back to his daughter and grandson. "Yay! Awesome!"
Maui giggled and then mimiced, "Awesome!""Let's see who has it my son. Have I taught you well?" She winked and then giggled. Luau LuLu went under the bar and this time it was clear she cheated. She blushed. "Ah, well.""Cheater cheater." Tiki Jim couldn't help laughing at his mom. Now it was his turn. Could he do it without cheating like her? Tiki Jim then tried...and he did it. kemo_chan Reira's giggles returned when she watched Luau Lulu clearly phase through the bar. At first, she thought that meant Tiki Jim won, but then she saw him take his turn and make it under the bar. Then she knew that he had won. "Yay! Good job!" she exclaimed. "And you too! You made it so much farther than I did," she told Luau Lulu with a bright smile. rimedragona Aoaka clapped for Tiki Jim when he won. "You're very good at that. How do you keep your balance when you go under? That's my problem." he asked, and took a sip of his daquiri. immortalmina Jazz clapped and put the pole away. "Alrighty! Now does anyone need anything to drink or eat?" Always the waitress, till the very end.Hula Bob chuckled. "Yeah, just let us know."Luau LuLu smiled. "Thanks. Well, I guess you have gotten very good. I think I have cheated too long to be any good." She giggled to herself. Luau LuLu was glad that it was her son who beat her."Yay! Thanks everyone." Tiki Jim bowed to them all with a wink. "Oh, well, I guess it's all in the back and knees? I'm not really sure. Maybe surf lessons helped?" rimedragona Aoaka nodded. "Could I have some of the shrimp, please?" he asked, then thought about Tiki Jim's answer for a moment. Surf Lessons? he thought, and then smiled.
"It's kind of funny. I've lived in the lake my whole life, but I've never had legs to go surfing with. I just realized that now I do! Do you really think it could help?" he asked, tilting his head thoughtfully. kemo_chan As the limbo bar was put away and everyone began to socialize, Reira had stood around for a bit with the straw of her banana shake in her mouth, finishing the last bit of the frozen beverage. She noticed that Tiki Jim and the Pae that had been talking to Luau Lulu earlier were now talking about surfing, and she couldn't resist joining the conversation.
"It's fun either way," she commented with a friendly smile. "Even if it is hard at first." rimedragona Aoaka smiled at the pretty female pae that had joined the conversation. "You've surfed, too? What's it like? Oh! I'm sorry, that was rude... My name's Aoaka, it's a pleasure to meet you, miss," he said, and held out a slightly tentative hand to shake. immortalmina "Coming right up." She nodded and smiled as she looked over to Hula Bob.Hula Bob went to work making the food. It wasn't too hard or took too long. That's how he liked it. "Here you go, dudette."Jazz nodded and floated the food over to their Naiad friend.Tiki Jim smiled. "Surfing is a lot of fun. Even when wipping out." He chuckled. He wondered if Reira wanted to show him what it was she liked to do now that limbo was over.Luau LuLu nodded. Hula Daddy offers lessons if you ever want to try, Aoaka." kemo_chan Reira smiled as she shook Aoaka's hand lightly. "It's nice to meet you!" she responded, sounding both polite and cheerful. "I'm Reira. And yes, and I have surfed a bit. Every part of it is fun... Even wiping out. And Hula Bob is a great teacher." She looked over to where Hula Bob was cooking and smiled. He certainly kept himself busy! "And Tiki Jim, too. He help to teach me to surf as well," she informed the Naiad, nudging Tiki Jim as she did so. She seemed to have forgotten all about showing him her hobby for now. immortalmina Tiki Jim blushed a little. "I don't know about that. I just learned from Hula Grandaddy like you." He smiled warmly to Reira. "So, the limbo is done. Do you want to show me what you like to do?"Jet smiled. "Hum...I wonder if we should get the girls. Do you think they are driving those two crazy yet?" Jet asked Wednesday with a nod and wink. kemo_chan "Oh, that's right!" Reira replied, glancing out a window. The sky was beginning to turn colors as sunset approached. "Come on!" she exclaimed, grabbing for Tiki Jim's hand to pull him outside with her.
Realizing her manners, she nodded politely to the Naiad before taking so much as a step. "It was nice to meet you," she said with a kind smile. And then she turned toward the door, ready to pull Tiki Jim along with her. She was like Cinderella, trying to flee before the spell wore off.
When the pair got outside, disappointment flashed across Reira's face for just an instant. "We don't have time to get home..." she mused. She didn't let that get to her, though. "But that's alright! Because the sunset's everywhere. That's one of the things I like. It's nice to sit up in a tree, above everything, and just watch the sunset. Most people just take it for granted, and it might seem silly, but it's so relaxing to just sit and watch." She spotted a large tree that looked climbable and pointed. "That tree should be good!" rimedragona Aoaka waved goodbye to Reira, and smiled as she pulled Tiki Jim behind her. "Goodbye! Have fun!" he called, and chuckled. She had been nice. Now, however, he turned back to his shrimp, and finished off what was left of it. He'd been here for quite a while, and though he was having fun, he was starting to itch.
"I'm afraid I should go, too. It's late, and I'm getting a bit itchy. Unless someone wants to go swimming?" He asked, looking around. Sure, it was late, but the water wasn't any different at night than it was during the day. immortalmina Hula Bob chuclked. "If you wanted a swim in the pool I can open it." He pointed in the direction of the dance floor. "Though, the lake water is better for you maybe."Jazz smiled. "I'm working right now, but hey maybe another time?" Jazz said as she floated his dishes to the kicthen."I might be able to." Luau LuLu nodded. "Though, it is a bit late." It was but the water might not be too cool. rimedragona Aoaka nodded. "The pool is okay, but the lake is better, I think. I don't know why. But, if you think it's too late, maybe we could go swimming tomorrow? I mean... if you all are free? I have someone... I would like to meet all of you."
He blushed a little, and didn't elaborate, but he had a smile on his face, so it was something good. "I told her that I would teach her how to swim... if she would, uh... teach me to dance..." At this admission, he blushed even further and ducked his head slightly. immortalmina Luau LuLu smiled. "Sure, mabye another time. I'd love to meet her. I'm sure she is lovely!" Luau LuLu had gathered the point the Naiad was making. She winked.Hula Bob chuckled. "The more the merrier! Awesome. I can teach you both the hula. I'm always up for that."
"Up for that!" Maui mimiced.Jazz sat down. "Aoaka!" she winked and nodded to him. Jazz wondered who this lady was? It was interesting. rimedragona Aoaka smiled. He had known everyone here would be supportive! He blushed at Luau Lulu's comment, but it made him happy.
"Hula lessons would be fun. I don't know if she knows how to hula," he told Hula Bob.
The naiad looked over to Jazz, and asked, "Yes, Jazz?" he asked, with a smile. He had an idea that he was going to be interrogated. After all, it had been Jazz who had told him to get out and meet people in the first place. immortalmina "Well, if you two want just let me know." Hula Bob smield and nodded. He didn't really know much about normal dancing. To him it was all about the Hula so why bother about the others.Luau LuLu smiled and sat down. She wanted to hear who Aoaka was bringing over. Who had gotten close to the Naiad? Other then the ones at the bar, that is.Jazz giggled warmly. "Come on tell us who it is? We may have met her. I have met a few pae in my lifetime. May not see them anymore, but I have met them." rimedragona He fiddled with the end of a lock of hair for a moment, then answered, "Well, I met her when I went to the campaign places, right? She's running for mayor. Her name's Polgara."
He wondered if either knew her. Jazz was an elder, too, so she might. He hoped they got along if they did, but they were both so nice, he didn't see how they couldn't. immortalmina Jazz looked to Hula Bob. They had met Pol long ago. Her mate, at the time, had been on a quest and she was sad. Jazz also met one of her kids once, with her maybe. "Yes, I know her. I only met her a few times though. I'm sure she's very nice." Hula Bob remembered too, the quest and kid troubles. Hadn't seen Pol in a long while since. "I hope she is doing well. She must be an elder now. With the mayor thing. Very awesome." He winked at Aoaka."I don't think I met her." Luau LuLu shrugged. Luau LuLu hadn't met as many as her father had. There used to be different people that hung around the bar and beach. rimedragona Aoaka nodded. Hula Bob and Jazz already knew her, so she shouldn't feel too out of place here. She said she didn't get out much, but Aoaka knew he felt more comfortable when someone he knew was present.
"Then you'll get to catch up, too! That will be good," he said, and nodded. He would have liked to have continued the conversation, but his itchy skin was beginning to drive him to distraction.
"Maybe we can talk more later? I'm getting rather uncomfortably dry. I think we'll probably be stopping by in the next couple of days, okay?" he asked as he stood in preparation to leave. immortalmina Jazz smiled and nodded. "See you Aoaka! It was great seeing you today as well." She then sat down at the bar and waved."Aloha, Aoaka! Looking forward to you coming back with a dudette!" He smiled and winked at the Naiad."It was nice to see you, alright. See ya! Aloha!" Luau LuLu smiled and waved as well.

~: Coronus' Campaign HQrimedragona Aoaka knocked politely on the door frame before leaning inside. This was the last person he'd heard of campaigning, and he thought he understood what was going to happen. Pae were going to choose who of the three they wanted to decide the future of the Island.
He still wasn't sure how he fit into this... after all, he lived in the lake, and didn't interact much with the land Pae.
"Hello, miss, sir. My name is Aoaka, it's nice to meet you. I hope I'm not interrupting... I heard you were campaigning, and I wanted to learn what you thought?" he said, ending on a questioning tone, though he hadn't really asked a question.
He was looking rather nervous, with stiff posture and his hands seeming to fiddle with each other of their own accord. immortalmina Eclipse nodded. "Though, Apollo is growing up so he may want to move out anyway." He shurgged. Eclipse didn't like the idea as his light made up for his dark, but Apollo had to have his own life. "You want me to talk-talk to others? I haven't really met any. I mean, your family will vote for you, right?" He asked with with a bit of worry on his face. The place was getting very dark now. Eclipse moved out of the way once the newcomer came in. He was very different looking. sailornorthstar Coronus kissed Eclipse on the forehead "What ever will happen will happen." She walked over to Aoaka Stitch also walked over in his hand was a big blue balloon. Stitch smiled and then looked back at Eclipse. He decided it was fun to be with his daddy. "Hello my name is Coronus yes I am running for mayor of the city." she put out her hand and smiled at him. she noticed that he was not a normal Pae She sis not know what he was but she guessed he was another race. "Well I would like to know what is important to you. I think we must be ready for the coming battle but also try to learn as much as we can of the past. We must treat all pae equally even if we do not share ideas." rimedragona Aoaka smiled at the young blue Pae, shyly, and took Coronus' hand, shaking it gently. He eyed the balloon curiously, not sure what it was. He'd rarely ventured out of the lake, only going to far as Hula Bob's, and never, it seemed, when a celebration was going on.
He noticed the room going dark, but didn't know the source. Besides, it wasn't any darker than the depths of the lake, so he wasn't bothered. His eyes just adjusted to let in more light.
"What's important to me? Well, I don't want someone to hurt me, like Elder Hi said could happen. I want everyone I care about to be safe. I guess I was saved from being hurt by the Guardians when they changed me, but maybe next time they won't be able to help, you know?" He nodded thoughtfully.
"What do you mean, 'learn about our past?,' Miss Coronus? I guess I don't know much of anything about Pae history. I just lived in the lake my whole life, and no one I know seemed to talk about it much." He wondered if maybe he ought to know, now that he was a Pae, and not a Merion anymore. sailornorthstar Coronus nodded "Ahh I see you talked to Hi also. I can not promise you that you will not be hurt and not be lying to you. I have seen two possible futures neither of them look that good. Some thing evil is coming back to the island and when it does there will be war. But like Hi I think we should prepare for the battle though I am no fan of fighting and useless bloodshed. If we win I would hope to try to understand the pae on the other side and help them learn what they have done wrong not kill them or torture them." She stopped to take a breath she learned so much it was hard to explain to others. "The guardians can not take material forms because there temples are destroyed. I think this fight is one that they can not intervene in it is up to all of us to do what is right." she herd him talk about change and then living in the lake. "So you were an Aion one of brothers was an Aion I have not talked to him in a long time the last time I saw him he was a Merion a sweet guy. I understand your situation now. The past that is in the history books have parts taken out. I coul tell you all about the history but I think it would boar you to death." she laughed at her own joke. "Come on lets get some thing to drink." she said =as she hedded for the table that held drinks rimedragona Aoaka looked concerned over the thought of something evil coming. If Coronus thought so, too, then it must have some sort of basis. And she seemed better informed about it than Hi.
He liked the idea about trying not just killing the other Pae, too. He didn't like hurting others. He wasn't sure he could do it if it came down to that point. It seemed, also, that he had been right to not rely too heavily on the guardians. They weren't able to come here anymore... He hoped they were alright, wherever they were.
"What if we rebuilt the temples? I didn't know there were any," he asked, wonderingly.
He smiled at the offer of something to drink, and followed her to the table. When they had gotten their drinks, he said, "I don't know, Miss, I like to learn things. I've never learned history, though. Is there a lot of it?" immortalmina Eclipse smiled down at the child. "That's a nice frog and balloon." He nodded to him. It was getting darker and darker. Maybe Apollo should be there to keep it light? He was sorta busy. Eclipse sat and didn't talk. It was hard for him. He could feel his other side liking what he was hearing. Eclipse closed his eyes and held onto the staff harder. sailornorthstar Stitch smiled and fallowed his adopove ather and craled in to his lap. " Daddy Were is my brother?" he asked Coronus looked at her drink and then at Aoaka "Well there was temples in the past but thry were distroyed they are only ruins now. I do not know what will happen if they are all built again we may get lucky and all the guardians come back or none may come back." She shruged. "The future is not writen in stone if we can change some thing we should take the chance and try to prevent the oncomeing disaster. But the more you want to learn the better informed you wil be and there is a lot of history it just depends on what you are looking for." immortalmina "Oh, well he is off on a date. I think he'll be here soon though." Eclipse wanted to make sure it was light enough in here for everyone to see. It did'nt want to lose Cronous votes due to darkness. Apollo walked in with a smile. "Good luck Mom!" He smiled and gave her a quick hug. The room began to slowly light up as Apollo made light his father couldn't absorb. rimedragona Aoaka nodded his head to the newcomer, and blinked as the room once again became brighter, but not knowing the powers of the two, he just shrugged it off.
"I hope the guardians would come back... it would be nice to know that they are okay. But you're right, they might not. Maybe they don't trust being here anymore," he said. The thought made him sad, and he took a sip of his drink to distract himself.
"What can we do make the future a good one, Miss Coronus? I don't want things to go bad. Can I help?" he asked. She really did seem to be the most knowledeable of the three he'd talked to, the one that seemed to have the most plans laid out. sailornorthstar Coronus nodded. "I have never talked to one of them I can only tell you from what I have herd and seen." She took a sip of her drink and then spoke. "I do not think there is a way to stop pae from fallowing it. Knowledges is power the more you know and the more we inform people the better it will be." rimedragona Aoaka shook his head, not really understanding. "So... it has to go bad? But there must be something we can do!" he said, looking sad.
He thought about what she'd said next. "You said if pae know more, then the future will be better? So... does that mean... well, I'm not really sure what it means..." he said, an embarrassed smile on his face. sailornorthstar Coronus smiled "learn find out what will happen and trying to make others understand. Well many pae dpo not know what happened in the past in truth I know a little more than they do but I am still fuzzy on some parts. There is a saying, those who do not learn about history are doomed to repeat it." rimedragona Aoaka nodded with the explanation of what they could do. "Is there somewhere we can learn more? I mean... like books and such? There's a... library, right?" he asked. He really wasn't sure if there was a library. This was really his first trip further inland than the beaches around the lake. sailornorthstar "There are books in there about the history though I can not tell you exactly were they are sorry about that." Coronus smiled. And then sighed about all that had happened immortalmina Eclipse smiled. "I've been there, it's a nice place with lots of boosk." Eclipse tossed in as an after thought. Apollo just looked away from Stitch who didn't seem to be in teh mood to talk.rimedragona Aoaka nodded. "Okay, so if we can learn more, we can at least try. I like that. I'd rather not have something bad happen because I didn't try," he said.
He looked over at Eclipse. "Did you see any history books?" he asked, eagerly. sailornorthstar "There were Tons of them" Coronus pushed her hair back again. "Sorry about making you wait I had to do some thing the gardians asked me to do." Stitch looked at Apollo. he started to clear out his ears. "I am ok Apollo though I made another Friend." Iccy comes out from behind Stitch. immortalmina Eclipse nodded to Aoaka. "Oh, yes there are a few." He had to try and learn a lot when he showed up on the isle as an adult. Apollo smiled at the penguin. "I have a snowman somehwere." He told Stitch with a nod.rimedragona Aoaka nodded, glad to hear it. "I think I will have to check them out, then. I'll learn as much as possible," he said, scratching absently at his arm.
"Miss Coronus? Mister Eclipse? I have to go now. I've been out of the water all day, going around to all the headquarters... and I still have one more to go to before I can go back to the lake and mull things over. Thank you so much for telling me all this," he said, and inclined his head to both of them before he turned towards the door to go. immortalmina Eclipse smiled. "Goodbye Aoaka! Remember to vote Cronous on the big day!" He chuckled.

~: Lakeside VisitationNessylove Grumbling heavily beneath his breath, with various words that would get his mouth scrubbed if his mother heard them; Venedrian beat his heavy, bat-like wings in the dead air. Honestly, he was so close to the beach, the updrafts should be helping!
But no. He had a little passenger. The little Fae Pa'e, his 'little sister', Aleylia. She was a cheerful thing, and loved to pull his hair and tail frantically, and stick things in her mouth. Oh yes. It was SO easy to fly when she kept trying to bite his wings. "OW! Dammit Ley, stop that!" The silver lines on his body shone, as he befuddled her mind. Maybe if she was senseless, she'd leave him be!
"Drian! YOU LEAVE HER BE!"Shiva was furious. Not only were her delicate angel's wings smaller than Venedrian's, he was also pushing his wind back into her face! Ooooh, if she could just get her hands on his tail! But no. They he would drop the baby, and mama wouldn't like it if the baby fell.
And now he was using his powers on her! That was too much!
"Drian! YOU LEAVE HER BE!" She screeched, clawing to try and catch up to the demonic Pae. Oh no. She was falling. That always happened! She'd get excited and oh crap. There was the ice!
She could feel it now, as she tumbled gently through the air. Oh no. Where to land?! She could see the golden sands of the beach, and desperately steered for them. Maybe if she could claw her way through the air....With a vapid giggle, Aleylia watched her blue icy sister hit the sands with a thud. Venedrian, of course, was chuckling. So that just made her laugh harder. Really, she loved Shiva. She just didn't understand the seriousness of the situation. From her perch on Venedrian's shoulders, she could see something out in the water. And screamed as loud as she could.
"HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" rimedragona Aoaka perked his ears up from where he drifted in the deep waters of the lake, a ways out from shore. He thought he heard voices... But that couldn't be right. No one ever came out here.
Curiosity had bit, though, so he opened his eyes and noticed a pair of forms in air above the shallows. He sat there for a moment, then decided to answer the cry he had heard, raising a dripping arm out of the water and waving. Then, he sanke back down, only his eyes and the top of his head poking out of the water, his hair drifting around him like a black cloud in the water.
He wondered what Pae were doing visiting him. Young ones, too, if he was any judge, but he wouldn't put it past himself to be wrong. They seemed to be having a fight of some kind, and oh! The one with the feathered wings was not flying well!
He judged her trajectory, and thought she might just make it to the beach... barely. Maybe he should help? She looked like something was wrong, but he had no idea just what. But what if she was scared of him? Aoaka didn't think he could stand that.
He made up his mind when the young angel got closer to shore. If she needed help, he had better be there! and if she was scared, he would apologize and leave.
So he started swimming down the shoreline, powerful strokes of his tail taking him there almost faster than the wings of the angel. Turning over onto his back, but still continuing to swim, he called up to her, "Are you okay? Do you need help?" Nessylove ((Okay, taking some liberties here to adjust for the fact they both grew up. xD)) "Hmmm?" She heard the new voice distantly, and couldn't understand why. Opening her mouth to speak, she suddenly KNEW why. Her head was in the sand! Not to mention she felt different. Like her head was bigger than it should be. And her body was so HEAVY!
Pushing away, the icy Pae looked down. And gaped. What the heck was WRONG with her?! She...she...she was grown up! Or at least, more grown up than she had been previously. Hips...bigger wings...and..and..."Oh goodness!" Even her voice was richer, but still with a snap to it.
Snapping her out of her reverie was the sound of yet another crash...and a loud splash. Splash? Flipping her now-lengthy hair around her waist, she turned to face the lake, and saw someone rushing towards her, asking if she was alright. A rather interesting someone. "Alright? Yes, thank you, I'm fine. If you count the fact that I somehow exploded into a big person's body, that is."
Really, it was a good thing. She'd somehow frozen herself into a child's body, and now she was no longer a child. How delightful!Venedrian, on the other hand, was FURIOUS. When his little sister had suddenly grown up, so had the winged menace on his back. And she was heavy! That had caused him to follow Shiva's previous course, and crash head-first into the sands. Delicious really, sand was.
Shaking his head, and snapping his tail at the Fae child to get her away from him, Drian wondered how the sarcasm wasn't driving everyone away. He really wished they'd go away.Tickled pink. Wasn't that the phrase? But she was teal. Still. Aleylia couldn't have been happier. She now had two extremely fluffy pigtails to throw about her head, much like Shiva. And oooh, who was that? Shiva? SHIVA?!
"Shiva, is that you?" She was so pretty! Nothing like the Shiva who used to be her size! Well. Kinda like. But so much prettier! Squealing, she ran to hug her sister happily, and stopped mid-stride when she saw the fishboy rushing up as well.
"Who's that?"rimedragona (( Oh, they look awesome! heart I love X's shiva. The best design to that point. I haven't seen XII's Shiva design, if she's even in the game. she better be. )) Aoaka had stopped before he flopped fully onto the shore, and was now sitting in waist deep water, looking at the three Pae on the beach. The one with the angel wings had looked different from a distance, he thought, but since he had not seen her change, he didn't know why.
Still, she had responded to his question, and rewarded him with the answer to why she looked different, too. "You mean you grew? That's awesome, miss. And I'm so glad you're alright, you looked like you might be in trouble."
He smiled, letting silence fall for a moment, then, with the younger girls' question, he realized he hadn't introduced himself and blushed for his rudeness. "Oh! I'm Aoaka, it's nice to meet all of you," he said.Nessylove Excited to be meeting someone new, Aleylia splashed as far into the water as her legs would let her. Really, she didn't know if she could swim, and she was smart enough to know that she really shouldn't chance it. The creamy teal-colored Fae beat her wings a bit, and was able to keep the current from pulling her in. "Hi there. I'm Aleylia. That's my sister, Shiva. The big meanie over there is Drian. I think mama said his name is bigger than that, but I can't say it."
The little girl talked a mile a minute, and her smile never left her face. She was friendliness in a small faery package, and loved new people.Shiva, however, was a bit more apprehensive. She didn't like being in water, as it did strange things with her powers. Even one time, she had frozen the small pool in front of her home, and broken it. That had made her mother rather upset, so the angel had avoided it ever since.
Walking up to the very edge, so that the water splashed lightly over her feet, she smiled welcomingly. "Yes, I'm Shiva. It's a pleasure to meet you, though I admit being a bit startled. And disheveled. Thank you for being concerned, it's rare, with this company." The look she threw her brother was vicious, and more than a little angry.
"So you just stopped to see if I'm alright? Do you live around here?" rimedragona Aoaka smiled as he listened to the small fae Pae, nodding along with her words, though they were so quick, he had to listen close to understand. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Aleylia, Shiva, and you too, Drian. If you'd like to tell me your full name, I can try to say it," he added, smiling at the grumpy looking demonic Pae.
He then turned to Shiva, and tilted his head. "Rare? What do you mean? Aren't people usually nice to you?" he asked, and looked them over. There didn't seem to be any reason not to be nice. They were having a nice conversation, aside from the silent Venedrian.
Aoaka nodded. "Yes, I couldn't just swim away. Besides it being mean to leave someone who might be hurt so close to my home, it would... well, it would just be wrong." he said, nodding earnestly in the water.
"I live over there, in that rock pile. There's a cave on the other side." He pointed in the direction he was looking, and from here, anyone who looked could see some signs of habitation.
There was a huge pile of driftwood stacked against the back of the cave above the high tide mark, and the seaweed had been mostly picked up from the shore as well. It was a never-ending job, but he liked to keep his area clean. And it gave him something to do.
"Would... would you like to come over?" he asked, smiling hopefully. "I have some chairs I made, but I haven't had anyone to use them, really. I tried them out, so I know they're sturdy, but... I don't get many visitors." In fact, he did most of the visiting, so this would be exciting. TO BE CONTINUED...

Aoaka returned to his cave from his trip out into the lake to catch some fish for dinner. When he got there, what did he see but something bright green hanging on a small protruding rock!
He blinked, and after a look around to see if there was anyone near, he set his fish down and went to get a closer look at it. A smile crossed his face when he saw that it was like the stockings he had given out! Someone had thought of him! He felt all warm and fuzzy inside.
He also felt the urge to look inside, but he knew he shouldn't until the day of Christmas. So he read the tag, and smiled that Hula Bob and Jazz had sent him one of the stockings. Backing up as far as he could, he surveyed where it had been hung, and decided that it needed some accompanying decorations.
Of course, he couldn't go about it now, he had dinner to make. But, as soon as that was over, if the light was still holding, he would set out to find something for decorations. He mulled over possibilities as he took the fish outside to the firepit.
There were always palm leaves, of course, for the green, but something red... perhaps some of the red flowers that were about? Maybe he could get one of those poinsettia things...

~: Winter Formalrimedragona Aoaka stopped outside the door, and pulled nervously on a bit of hair. This would be the largest gathering he'd been to yet, and he found he needed a moment to steady himself.
Then, he pushed open the door, and walked inside, looking around for anyone he knew. He didn't expect there to be many. From his initial glance about the room, he didn't see anyone at all that he knew, and his heart quailed a bit. Maybe he should just slip back out...
But he decided to stay and drifted along the wall of the room, his dark coloring blending him into the shadows. He found a comfortable place in what appeared to be some sort of sitting area, and just watched the comings and goings of those at the party. Torvil Alturius scratched the back of his head. "Only when there's a pretty girl involved, usually I just like to discuss philosophy, or politics, or both..." He chuckled and shook his head. "I mean, you're outragously attractive and well, I thought you might like it..."
Alturius of course, was not going to mention that he probably wouldn't remember her name after he left the party.Polgara smiles, and starts to promise Kaelin she won't, when she sees a familiar figure walk by the Nursery door. Her heart skips a beat and she gently moves Dil and Mel out of her lap and stands. "I promise I won't Kae, now uhm... could you watch these three? Kay! THanks!" She hugged her daughter and was gone before Kaelin could say yes or no to the matter.
Polgara lifted her dress up a little bit and practically ran after Aoaka, when she got within walking distance she let her dress down and walked, then tapped him on the shoulder. "Hello there... Stranger," She said in a playful tone. Lucius nods slowly and sighs. "Okay..." He shakes his head a little bit, and squezes her hand back. "I promise." rimedragona Aoaka startled a bit at the tap, as he hadn't really been expecting anyone, but his pensive expression lightened into one of welcome when he saw who it was.
"Polgara! Hello!" he said, a bit of releif evident in his tone. Not only was it someone he knew, it was someone he liked very much.
"I was beginning to think I wouldn't see anyone I knew here. I'm glad to see you again. How are you?" he asked, and glanced down at her attire. He blushed a little as he said, "You look lovely." Torvil Polgara smiled and gave a little curtsy, bowing her head a little as she blushed. "Thank you Aoaka, you don't look half bad yourself," She chuckled covering her mouth with the back of her hand before she smiled at him.
"Actually you look very handsome this evening," She offered her hand to him tho, and smiled. "Would you like to dance?" rimedragona Aoaka looked down at himself and then back up at Polgara. He hesitated slightly before taking her hand, saying, "I still don't know how..." he reminded her gently. But he trusted that she wouldn't make a fool of him out on the floor. Torvil Polgara smiled and leaned down, kissing his cheek before leading him out to the dance floor. "I'll teach," She smiled as she moved to the middle of the dance floor after taking his hands.
She started slowly, and giving Aoaka time to learn the moves of the dance. rimedragona Surprised but heartened by the kiss on his cheek, Aoaka let himself be led out. After figuring out where to put his hands, he fumbled for a few minutes before figuring out that it was a rhythm, like the waves in the lake. After that, it was only a matter of remembering what direction to step, and counting in time. One, two, three...
He didn't realize it, but he was probably a bit comical looking. His face was a study in concentration, and his lips moved as he counted silently. He was getting the hang of it, though he almost stepped on Pol's foot once. His apology was almost more of a mix-up than the not-quite-accident, since he forgot to keep counting, and had to start over.
"I'm sorry," he said one more time, smiling through his embarrassed blush. He was having a good time, even with the miscue. "I think I have it now, mostly,"he said, and gave her hand a light squeeze where he held it. Torvil Polgara smiled. "You're doing fine, just relax and let the musice move you," She said with a light chuckle, looking down into his eyes, she was blushing as well, for an entirly different reason.
"So, Aoaka, how do you like dancing? Is it anything like swimming?" She smiled and slowly stopped leading and let Aoaka lead, not minding at all if he wasn't the best dancer in the world, he was trying, and that's all that mattered. rimedragona Aoaka noticed Pol's blush, and for a moment, he thought she was embarrassed, too. But after a second look, he changed his mind.
She seems happy. Because she's... dancing with me? he thought. He very much enjoyed dancing with her, but to think that she enjoyed dancing with him, too... the idea made him happy. He hoped she really was, and that he wasn't assuming.
He was watching her face, lost in thought, with what could probably be called a dreamy expression on his face. He almost didn't realize when she stopped leading, but that, and her question, brought him back to the rest of the world.
He fumbled for a moment, thinking about swimming and dancing, and then answered, "In a way. There's a certain rhythm of movement about both, but it's different," he paused as he gently pulled her away from someone he'd almost steered her into.
"Or maybe not," he continued, as a thought occured to him. "I was thinking of dancing as different because you have two Pae, but if you're swimming, it's like the water is your partner. Sometimes the currents in the water lead you, and you follow, but you can take the lead, too, and decide where to go," he said, glancing up to see if he had made sense.
He smiled. "I really like swimming, but I very much like to dance with you, Pol." And he did, even more now that he was getting the hang of it. "I'm glad it was you who taught me," he added, blushing again, but this time not from embarrassment. Torvil Polgara smiled. "I was more than happy to oblige," She said warmly, watchin Aoaka as they moved across the dance floor. She was having so much fun with Aoaka that she was completely and totally lost to the world.
Her focus was completely on Aoaka and nothing else. Her eyes remained on him the entire time they danced, and she kept feeling that twitterpated feeling in her chest, something she hadn't felt in what felt like ages.
"So, Aoaka... when this dance is over, would you like to get some refreshments and sit for awhile?" She asked, if only because she wanted to get Aoaka away from the dance floor a little while. rimedragona Aoaka smiled and nodded. "I would like that, Polgara," he said. He was having a great time now, lack of dancing skill not withstanding, and it was all because of her. He was happy to spend time with her doing anything. Torvil As the song ended, Polgara started to pull Aoaka towards the refreshment table, and upon reaching it, she broke away from him and got herself a plate, piling it with a few things she knew she liked quite a lot. Then she got herself a drink of punch, and was very glad to know that this would be a dry party.
When she drank, she tended to get a bit TOO tipsy, and that lead her into trouble, and trouble was not what she wanted tonight, she wanted tonight to be special.
Smiling at Aoaka, she motioned for him to follow when he was ready, and she found them a seat at an empty table near the back of the room, not quite out of sight, but enough for her peace of mind.
Already her mind was forming plans as to how she wanted this night to go, and if she was lucky, she would get what she wanted. A smile crept upon her lips, widening the grin that had been there before. Yes, a plan this cunning would do her well indeed.
Popping a piece of fruit into her mouth, she waited, now she would bide her time. Aoaka wouldn't know what hit him! rimedragona Aoaka followed along with Polgara, getting several things for his own plate. Some shrimp, some fruit, vegetables, and a glass of punch. The buffet was wonderfully appointed.
He was glad the table was out of the way, he was still somewhat nervous in the crowd, and he wanted to be alone with Polgara, anyway.
Oblivious to the plotting going on behind that pretty smile, Aoaka responded with a smile of his own, and tried some of the shrimp he'd taken. A content sigh escaped him. It was good. Not as good as Hula Bob's perhaps, but it was good.
"So, what have you been doing since the last time we talked?" he asked, curious. Torvil "Oh not much," Polgara said as she wrapped one of her fingers into her hair and started to toy with her locks, eyes locked on Aoaka. "Mainly taking care of children as I find them," Her smile changed shape again, away from the cunning and more into a womanly, motherly shape. "I was taking care of children in the nursery when I saw you come in, so I passed it off to my daughter," She laughs a little, covering her mouth with her other hand. "I'm sure she'll handle it well, she has boys of her own,"
She didn't feel too bad about leaving, the Nursery had been well staffed when she'd skittered off to spend time with Aoaka, besides, she was sure her daughter would understand.
"What about you Aoaka? Been doing anything fun?" She grinned again, already scootting her chair closer to him, in fact, as she'd started to conversation her chair had moved several inches closer to the man she intended to ask out on a more steady basis by the end of the night.
She just needed to seal the deal by planting a big old kiss on him. After all, sometimes a girl had to use her wiles to get what she wanted, and what she wanted, was Aoaka. rimedragona Aoaka noticed her finger travel to her hair, and remembering what she'd told him, wondered what she was interested in. The way she was looking... Him? The thought warmed him, but he was rather sure he was mistaken. Maybe the conversation...
"I like children. They're cute... and little," he said a bit lamely, unable to come up with anything else to add to that topic, having met a grand total of one in his life. He smiled at the thought of Polgara in a nursery, taking care of others. It seemed natural to him.
"Me? uhm, well... I went to Hula Bob's. They said they'd like you to come. I guess you'd already met Jazz and Hula Bob? Oh! He said he'd teach us to hula, if you wanted," he chuckled. He noticed her scooting her chair closer, and blinked obliviously. He definitely enjoyed her company, and certainly wouldn't object to getting closer, but he was about as dense as they come when it came to romance. Torvil Once Polgara got within stiriking distance, she did just that. She leaned forwards and planted her lips square on Aoaka's, giggling a little as she did so. When she pulled back she sat up straight and smiled at him, sitting there as if nothing had happened.
"The Hula? I think I've heard of it, it might be interesting to learn," She smiled and nodded her head. "I think I will give it a try at least, since well, couldn't hurt to learn something new,"
Her hand had once again made it to her hair, and she toyed with it as she watched him, she would kiss him again of course, but she needed to see reactions... She needed to know if she'd made the wrong attack. rimedragona Aoaka didn't seem to have heard her response about the hula, as his eyes seemed to have glazed over slightly. After a few seconds, however, he seemed to wake up again, and he blushed lightly and smiled shyly. His fingers seemed to have reached out and clasped hers of their own accord.
"Polgara...?" he asked, not sure what he wanted to ask, what with the jumble of questions bubbling up. Had she meant to do that? Did that mean she liked him as much as he liked her? And... and this one became more important as the seconds passed... would she do that again? But he didn't ask, he just watched her with wondering eyes and a silly little half-grin on his face. Torvil Polgara shot Aoaka a coy grin. "Yes?" She asked, her fingers taking his and gripping them tightly, as her free hand continued to toy with her hair as she watched him. "Is there somthing you needed?" She then turned her attention back to her drink, and took a sip. rimedragona Aoaka fumbled for words. "Did you just...? What I mean is... well..." he trailed off, and then said, in a bit of a rush, "That was... wow. Maybe we could... do that again? Only this time with me expecting it?" His heart was racing. His thumb moved over the soft skin on Polgara's hand gently. His plate of goodies was forgotten, sitting in an empty seat next to him. Torvil Polgara smirked and leaned in, kissing him again, not speaking, why waste words? She didn't need them, since she could communicated much better with her body than her voice.
After all, she was trying to trap his heart in her hands... She wanted to wear it on a string. rimedragona Whatever Polgara was trying, it was certainly working. Aoaka leaned in a little as well, and kissed Polgara back. Being his first kiss, he wasn't quite sure what to do, but he figured following Polgara's lead so far had worked.
It was quite wonderful on his side of things, and when the kiss ended, he was a bit giddy and breathless. He looked at Polgara, and lifted his free hand up to touch her cheek gently.
"Wow," was all he could think to say. Torvil Polgara smirked, "I'll say," She giggled lightly and slowly pulled back to continue drinking and eating, needing a little time, no sense in overloading him, make him ask, make him beg, lead him deeper in the trap before springing it on him...
He would be hers, and it was so easy! rimedragona Aoaka smiled, but he was also somewhat confused, but hopeful at the same time. And threading through it all was a giddy sort of happiness.
He picked at his plate, more occupied with his thoughts than his treat. Finally, he glanced over her way. She sure looked happy...
"Uhm, Pol? Could I ask... why did you kiss me?" he asked, a bit hesitantly, and then almost held his breath. There was a hopeful light in his eyes as he looked at her. Torvil "Well that's a very silly question to ask," Polgara smiled at him, reaching out and placing her hand on his. "I really, really like you Aoaka, and I would like it... if we saw more of each other,"
That last sentence could be taken in many ways, and Polgara had meant it as such.
"I would like it, if we could maybe... start a serious relationship?" rimedragona Aoaka flushed once more, this time with happiness, and turned his hand over so that he was holding Pol's hand in it.
"I... I would like that very much Polgara. I really like you, too. I asked... well, I asked because I didn't want to assume," he ducked his head a little, and peered back up at her through his bangs a bit sheepishly. But he was still smiling. Torvil Polgara laughed. "Better to not make an a** of yourself huh?" She smiled at him and squeezed his hand, then reached out and lifted his chin a bit. "Well it's okay, cause you were right on the mark it seems." Leaning down again she graced him with another kiss, then pulled away.
Today was a good day indeed. rimedragona He let his chin be lifted, and he was smiling throughout the next kiss. He was glad he'd come, as today had turned out to be a very good day.
"It would seem so," he said, and chuckled softly. With their mutual admission, his thoughts were now whirling to make him a bit dizzy. Or was that because he was happy? But the biggest thoughts going through his mind were that he was one lucky Pae... and he hoped he didn't screw this up somehow.

~: Don't Scare Aoaka...rimedragona It was a typical day for Aoaka. Cleaning up the beach alongside his cave often turned up some pretty things, and today was especially rewarding, as a large half shell had washed up, the inside coated with iridescent pink mother-of-pearl.
He smiled at it, and brushed a few stray grains of sand out of it, admiring it's gleam for a moment. His mind already went to work on what he could make from it.
Perhaps Pol would like it... I bet I could make something lovely. With a few holes... a windchime? Or just something to hang in the window and catch the light. I wonder if she has jewelry? His mind expanded on the idea, and he stood staring out across the lake, lost in thought. Torvil Alturius was heading to the beach, a popular spot for him. It was easy to pick up girls there usually, and well... It was a nice place to sit and think. Noting however, that his preffered viewing spot was taking he grumbled.
"Hey, jerkoff, move it, you're in my spot!"
He wasn't in the mood to play nice today. rimedragona Abruptly pulled from his thoughts, Aoaka blinked and turned around. He was in that Pae's spot? But...
"Wha? Oh... I'm sorry! I was just cleaning up the beach. That's my cave over there, so I like to keep it nice..." He trailed off from his awkward attempt to politely converse with him. Jazz said to make the first move, but really...
He hadn't, however, moved. Instead, Aoaka was still looking a bit confused at the whole situation. The land wasn't his, but he did take care of it and had come to feel a bit proprietary over it. And now he was being kicked off?
"May I ask who you are?" he inquired, obviously not getting the vibe that the other wasn't in the mood to talk. Torvil "Sure but I ain't gonna tell you s**t..." Alturius grunted, now EXTREMELY not happy and in the mood to smack somebody around, his father's influence he was sure. Growling a little he started towards the other pae, his shoulders hunched forwards a bit.
"Look, I'm gonna give you to the count of two to vacate yer a** off my beache... One... Two... Okay here comes..."
His eyes flashed with anger as he started walkin a lot faster. rimedragona Aoaka's eyes widened as the other moved menacingly in his direction. He backpedaled a few steps, looking around as if for a way out.
"H-hey, wait a second..." he said, for the first time scared of another Pae and not knowing what to do as a result. He backed up a couple more steps, and felt the water lap up around his feet with an incoming wave.
That's right, he could always escape into the water... but he didn't want someone angry with him. A couple more steps back, and the water was up past his ankles. And the other Pae still stalked towards him. Torvil "Oh no you don't!" Alturius shouted, lowering his shoulder he charged. He just felt like beating somebody up. He wasn't much of a fist fighter, but when angry, he could brawl decently. Right now he was just pissed, and really not thinking...
If he had, he would have reasoned stuff out instead of blindly rushing in like a fool.
If his father were here, he'd of gotten a beating for being stupid and letting his anger get the better of him. rimedragona At the charge, any thoughts Aoaka might have entertained about talking things through dissolved into a burst of fear. Fight or flight, what would it be?
In the case of this pacifistic Pae, he flinched, before flinging himself out of the way, diving to one side as the angry Pae reached him, and scrambling to his feet as he turned to face the other, feet still in the water and hands raised before him as if sheilding himself with them.
"Please, stop! I don't like fighting!" he said. He didn't notice it yet, but there was something building up inside him in response to the other's aggression. And as he stood in the water, it reached out to the water from within him, the Naiad all unknowing still, recognizing it only as a desire to escape into the water. Torvil "Yargh!" Alturius grunted as he skidded into the water, falling and getting soaked. Dragging himself to his feet he charged again, angry as all hell.
"I'm all wet you son of a b..."
Yeah... Bad day for Alty... rimedragona Aoaka yelped and squeezed his eyes shut, thrusting his arms out in front of him to ward off the charging Pae, bracing for the impact, falling backwards at the same time. But, as he did so, the motion of his arms seemed to send something tingling through him.
With his eyes closed, he didn't see it happen, but one of the small incoming waves suddenly reared up, growing in size before flinging itself headlong at the other Pae. All Aoaka got was a misting of spray and the woosh of the water as it shot past him.
Still expecting to get pummeled, Aoaka sat in the wet sand in the fetal position, arms curled up over his head. Torvil THUD! Alturius stumbled backwards as he got tagged by the water, sliding backwards a bit as he stumbled and flailed, trying to regain his balance. It wasn't going well for the teen Shetani male, and right now, he was about ready to just call it quits for the day. But he was still pissed.
However, the fact that Aoaka could fight back with the water meant Alturius was at a disadvantage... So for awhile he stood there, trying to figure out what to do...
"Get up..." rimedragona Still sitting with his arms over his head, Aoaka realized that the attack was taking an awfully long time time... He peeked out, taking a nervous look around."Get up..."Aoaka raised his head, staring at the now wet Pae, and blinked, very confused.
"What... what's going on...?" he asked, as he stumbled to his feet, not wanting the other to attack him again. Torvil "How did you do that?" Alturius grumbled, reaching up to look at his hair for a moment... No good, he'd need a mirror and there really wasn't one nearby that he could use. Sighing he shook his head.
"That whole... Water thing... If you're going to play with your power at least be sporting about it..." He was cooling down, which was a good thing, it was allowing him to at least be rational now. rimedragona "Power? But... I don't..." Aoaka trailed off as he recalled visiting the potions building one day, supposedly it would grant a power... but nothing had ever come from it, or so he'd thought.
"Oh. Oh! It did work!" he exclaimed, probably looking a bit simple to the other. Torvil Facepalming Alturius sighed and shook his head slowly. Wonderful, he was dealing with a complete and total idiot, this would be fun...
"Look..." He said slowly. "You used your power, you're telling me that you don't know what it was?"
For the love of... rimedragona Aoaka stammered a bit, looking embarrassed. He tugged gently on a chunk of hair, and looked away for a moment.
His gaze returned to the other, and he said, "How am I supposed to know how to use it? Nothing's ever happened before! I only went to the place not too long ago..."
He sounded upset. Torvil "Whoa, whoa whoa! Don't start blubbering on me now!" Waving his hands quickly in front of him Alturius didn't want anything to start, he was having a crappy enough day already.
Rubbing his temples he grumbled. rimedragona Aoaka almost blurted out that he wasn't crying, but the fact was, he was very close to it. His day had gone from peaceful to hectic in less than a moment, and he was still off balance because of it.
But, he took hold of himself and after a deep breath, said, "I'm sorry. This has gone all wrong... Err... I'm Aoaka..." he couldn't exactly say he was pleased to meet the other, not after the terrible fright he'd received, and so he trailed off.
He was still scared of the other, who'd shown a very violent temper. What if he said or did the wrong thing again? He felt no trace now of the power he'd apparently used. And he didn't even know what it looked like...
But that guy did. Aoaka nibbled his lip, thinking, as he watched the other. Torvil "Alturius..." Shaking his head he sighed, rolling his shoulders again as he tried to figure this guy out. "Look... I'd like to just have my spot back... This is where I come to think about stuff... And I like to do that alone... That's all I want, I don't care where you go, but you can't stay here... This is MY SPOT..." rimedragona Aoaka frowned. It wasn't Alturius' spot, at least not in his mind... but the polite Pae couldn't think of a way to tell him that without making him angry again. After all, despite all the effort Aoaka put into keeping the beach here nice... he didn't own it, either.
"Well... okay, but that's my cave over there. Just... uhm..." Aoaka trailed off again, and grit his teeth, then backed a few steps away, the shell still in his hand. Torvil "Yeah, yeah... whatever... Just bugger off already," Plopping down in the sand and then ignore the other pae completely, Alturius went into a deep state of thought... He had a lot of thinking to do, and not a lot of time to do it in... rimedragona As that was an obvious dismissal, Aoaka turned and walked away from the other Pae, not looking back until he was almost back to his cave. He gazed back at where Alturius sat, and frowned deeply, an unaccustomed expression, but quickly disappeared inside his cave.
