Kiran had to admit to himself that he was rather jealous of Bataar. Glancing around, he could see that most of the attention of the people they passed had their attentions on Bataar. Kiran liked having people's attentions on him. But next to Bataar, Kiran looked like a scrawny little shrimp. Being small and having lean muscles certainly aided him in some of his usual activities, but it hardly helped him stand out against someone as big and muscular as Bataar. He tried to stomp down on that feeling of envy toward how easily the man gathered attention.

"Bacon," Kiran mumbled as he pondered where there might be a place to get some bacon. Sniffing the air, he could smell salmon being smoked and chicken roasting. Some ways down the street, he caught a hint of fatty, salty bacon grilling over a fire. "I think we can find some down that way," he said, pointing in the general direction in which the smell came.

"Convenient, huh?" Kiran folded his arms behind his head. His mother would throw a fit if she heard that he had been running around town in nothing more than a towel. There was some amusement to be had in the mere idea of shocking people with such a display. "In the summertime, I can see it." There were days when the sun burned like a sweltering inferno. Those were the nice where he entertained the idea of ripping off his clothes and jumping into the nearest river to cool off for a while.

Bat kept up his pace, occasionally grinning at some of the passerby he saw as he and Kiran journeyed in search of some delicious strips of bacon. No other smell appealed to the behemoth of a man right now beyond that and he was determined to find some. It was, after all, the food of life for such a man as he. Something to live for, as far as Bat tended to be concerned. He was fond of food in general, but the fried strips of bacon sounded much too appealing at the moment and he almost forgot to wave at a few of his clearly admiring buddies as he continued on his quest.

"I hope so." Bat muttered desperately, his stomach growling loudly as he sped up a bit, smelling the food of the gods up ahead. They had to be close by now! He reminded himself to berate Yuudai later for not being present to cook this delicacy himself, special for Bataar. Now that would've been pretty nice.

He supposed his nakedness was extremely convenient, in any case, and prided himself upon his physical appearance with as much vanity as any woman. It was hard not to get big-headed when you were this powerful and muscular, Bat suspected. "I think it's great for every day!" he declared authoritatively. This was, indeed, the truth of the matter as far as the Mongol was concerned.

The smell of bacon grew stronger as they made their way farther up the street. They were nearing the stall that was grilling up bacon for sale. Kiran was thankful for that for he was starting to grow hungry if the grumbling of his stomach meant anything. They walked along, passing several other stalls before the one selling the bacon came into the view. Kiran swiped at his mouth, making sure no drool escaped it. That bacon was smelling rather good at that point.

"There it is," he told Bataar as he pointed toward the stall where the delicious aroma of cooking bacon originated from. He checked his money purse again, hefting its weight in his hand. He didn't have much money to spend. But if Bataar really could get them free food, then he didn't need to worry much about the money situation. It was good to double check his money though, just in case they ended up needing to pay for anything.

Kiran laughed, trying to imagine the mostly naked Bataar running through twelve inches of snow. The image was actually fairly amusing to him. But he couldn't imagine how the man could logically survive in almost no clothing in the dead of winter. But maybe Bataar didn't feel the cold or just had a higher tolerance to the cold. "Even in winter?" he asked out loud, curious as to Bataar's answer.

Bataar breathed deeply as they reached the stall and gazed greedily at the fried strips of glory. "This... THIS is what real men eat." he declared triumphantly, making the middle-aged woman running the stall blush. He hoped his flattery would go far enough to get him plenty of food, and so far he appeared to be on the right track. At the very least, it was a Noble-run establishment.

"Missus, I've got these scars from fighting for you." Bat declared, gesturing to his chest. She knew where it was going and, before he knew it, the Mongolian man was in possession of more bacon than he could possibly eat himself-- enough for two. The woman in the stall encouraged him to return and he nodded, grinning confidentially in Kiran's direction. That was how it was done!

Bataar nodded in response to Kiran's next question, for he did, indeed, have a high tolerance for cold weather as a result of growing up in the north with the Jaoret clan. "I love the cold." he declared, and made a note to specifically undress and show off the next time it starting snowing around the Imperial City.

Kiran was impressed. He made some mental notes as he observed Bataar. Stealing food was something he was against, but if the owners of the stalls willingly handed over free food... Well, he wouldn't argue with that. And it had the added advantaged of keeping his money purse from being emptied out too quickly. But Kiran believed he would need a slightly different tactic. His muscles would hardly make a woman swoon and offer up free food. And he lacked any battle wounds. He would have to play more to his strength, which in this type of situation he wasn't too sure what those could be.

"You sure have a way with the ladies," Kiran commented with a cheeky grin. He hadn't exactly ever really tried to woo a woman. He hadn't met anyone that tapped into his romantic side, assuming he even had one. But he wondered what Bataar would have done if the seller had been a man. He doubted flirting would help to acquire free food if that were the case.

Kiran shook his head as he laughed. Why should he have been surprised by that answer? "I guess you win on that," he said, still amused. "I have no way to convince you that there are times when you shouldn't run around mostly naked." If the cold didn't frighten him into some clothes, what could? Kiran really couldn't think of anything, so he decided it was best just to drop the subject. Other than looks by the people they passed, it didn't seem to be causing a huge disturbance.

Bataar only knew how to work the food stalls so skillfully because he'd never learned to cook for himself. He was comparable to a child in that aspect, but most of the Noble women along the street knew him and liked it if he took the time to show them his scars and to make up elaborate stories about each. He was, the middle-aged women told themselves, absolutely charming and determined to win the war for the Nobles. Such a man needs to eat!

And so Bataar was left to stuff his face with bacon, occasionally glancing over to Kiran in order to acknowledge him. "Nah, they're just all like my aunties!" he declared, denying the idea of any cougars among the stallholders. Generally speaking, he could only charm women into feeding him, though-- he still hadn't figured out what to do when he came across a husband, beyond a carefully-planned escape.

The Mongolian man nodded wisely as Kiran made note of his superiority in being mostly naked all of the time. "People just get jealous." he snorted confidently, strutting about and throwing yet another piece of bacon into his mouth as they continued down the street. "But they could be like me if only they tried."

Kiran glanced back at the woman that had given Bataar the bacon. Just like his aunties? "Is that what aunts are really like?" he wondered out loud thoughtfully. His only experience with family outside his immediate family was with Uncle. And that was mostly of the Master and Apprentice type relationship. Did that make a major difference compared to a regular relationship, he wondered? But an aunt would surely be much different than Uncle.

Kiran looked Bataar up and down then laughed. "They have a lot to be jealous about," he agreed. What male Lunarian didn't dream of being big, strong, and handsome? He lifted an arm and flexed his muscle. "I guess I would need to try harder." He poked his insignificant, in comparison, bicep. He did train hard and work out everyday to improve his fighting style and to stay fit.

"You've got your bacon now," Kiran said, folding his arms behind his head as they continued walking. "Was there anything you wanted to go with that?"
