Dahih grinned, then moved over to his fire pit, reaching up and standing on his hind legs to open the hatch in the roof to let the smoke out, "What I find weird about this 'beef' is that they keep the animals in a group, almost like pets. They never have to hunt," he lowered himself, and sat by the fire, "Have your travels ever taken you near the humans?"

Zendra stretched comfortably. "I've only been near them once or twice. That was in my childhood, though. An elderly woman tried to help me fix my mother." She took in the information he told her with great interest. "They don't have to hunt at all?" One of her ears flicked up. "What an interesting race.."

Dahih gave her a curious look, but decided he'd ask about that later. It sounded like it may have ended badly, and he didn't want to upset her. He frowned slightly, starting to get the food prepared, "Yeah...its puzzling. And a little concerning, the person that told me about this didn't sound like he approved. But the animals they raise have a lot of meat on them, not like a rabbit or anything."

Zendra slipped her bag off of her shoulder, setting it down near where she was sitting. "The old woman I knew never had anything like that." She tried to see the meat that Dahih was cooking. "I guess they are like farmers. She complained a lot about farmers feeding on her land." It felt odd having someone cook for her..

"Farmers?" he sounded confused, "I've heard of farmers with crops, but..." he shook his head, "I don't think I'll ever understand humans. But I guess they multiply so fast that they have to find ways to feed themselves." He looked over at her, "Potatoes, carrots, or both?"

Zendra sniffed the air. "I like potatoes." Thinking for a moment, she added. "I think it is a good thing we don't understand. The old woman hated other humans, for the most part. So I don't think they are too good." She nestled herself down, studying the feeling of actually being inside. It took her a moment to study the fireplace.

Dahih frowned slightly as the fire sputtered to life, "I don't want to form an opinion on them without meeting them personally, but I hear the same thing from everyone," he looked at her, and smiled, "But I don't need to worry. I'd rather stay in the forest with you than go have a look at them."

"They make me very curious." Zendra stared at the fire for a moment. When he said he would rather stay in the forest with her, she blushed. "You sound like you really don't want me to leave..." her voice was quiet, but she thought he would hear her. Not many had wanted to spend time with her for long..

Dahih frowned slightly, glancing over at her, "Why would I want you to go?" he shifted until he was more comfortable, then set about cooking the meat, "You're a wonderful person to be around."

Zendra really wanted to go to him and snuggle up against him now. "My mother's reputation followed me for a while. She was not a kind heart, you see. I was expected to come out just like she did as an adult. She didn't even want me around most of the time." She really did not want to make him sad with her story... "It makes me glad to know you think of me so well... and it's hard to believe that someone actually sees me and not my mother."

"I don't know of your mother," he said, offering her a smile, "And how could I ever take you as someone who is cold, when clearly all you have in your heart is warmth?" he flipped the beef, a small smile still in place, "I've met the kind of person you speak of, and you're definitely not like them."

Zendra felt a little choked up at his words, never having been told anything like that before. "Dahih.." her voice broke a little, but she did not cry. "Thank you..." she closed her eyes, the scent of the food causing her stomach to growl softly.

Dahih looked surprised, but smiled again and got up to go join her. The meat would be already for a couple of minutes, "Sorry, didn't mean to get you all choked up...are you alright?"

Zendra wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug when he came over to her. "I'm alright... Thank you.. the words felt good to hear." She smiled very warmly at him, looking up into his eyes. "You're a very kind person yourself, you know.."

Dahih hugged her back and smiled, "Good. I meant what I said," he said, with a serious tone, and pulled his legs underneath him. He smiled more at what she said, brushing her hair out of her face, "I try."
