Red tried to valiantly regain his composure. "Can't say I've ever tried, but not bad for a beginner!" He wanted to impress the doe, but it seemed quite difficult to impress this one.
And then all coherent thought fled his mind. Winter didn't seem to know what she was saying, her words were simple even though her mind was not.
He stuttered out what he could: "Uhuh, well, what did you have in mind?"
His entire face was probably as red as a ripe cranberry at this point.

Shrugging against him, Winter hummed. She usually simply did whatever came to mind, and it didn't usually involve other Kimeti.
So... Nothing was coming to mind. She didn't know how to act around others. "You have an idea?" she asked, though it sounded less like a question and more like a comment.
She tilted her head towards him and blinked a couple times in confusion. It seemed his red had bled to the rest of his face and no longer sat neatly above the blue stripe.
Winter leaned closer to him, touching her muzzle to the white area beneath his cheek. "Warm, da?" She slowly slid her muzzle from her cheek to his neck, fascinated by the warmth he currently resonated.

Breathe, was all he was trying to think. This little doe was either coming on that strong, or she didn't realize what she was doing. Judging by her previous displays, she really didn't realize what her touch was doing.
Red tried to stammer out a reply: "Well, uh, seeing as you had, erm, well, suggested it, I thought that you might maybe, uh, have one?"
Was it too much to hope that he wouldn't have to come up with something? He could maybe suggest they continue dancing?

Winter smiled- though smile wasn't quite the right word. Her eyes softened and her stance became more relaxed, but she seemed pleased for some reason or another. She continued nuzzling his neck, simply enjoying the warmth from the other body. It was not often- or rather it was never- that she was this close to another Kimeti. So close. She blinked and stepped back, nipping softly at his shoulder.
"You can run, da?" she asked, seemingly amused. He couldn't dance, but surely his feet worked for other things- running included. She stepped back, slowly inching her way towards the edge of the open space and into the forest.
"Can you catch me?" Winter's eyes gleamed in delight. She opened her muzzle to speak more but stopped, seeming to consider her next words carefully.
She simply stared at Red- at Cold Hammer, before deciding.
"You would chase after me if I ran away?"

Red watched the doe - Winter - relax, and he felt her, too. He was starting to accept her presence within his, and where her coat met his was warm and relaxed. He felt his pulse slacken, along with almost every other muscle in his body.
And then Winter was gone, and he was, ironically, left cold. He stared back at her, dumbfounded.
He grinned at her question. "Yes, little doe, I would chase you. And then I would catch you."

This time she actually did smile a little, in response to the buck's grin accompanied by those words.
"I miss your warmth already." she mused, almost sadly, before turning and bounding into the swamp-forest at very nearly full speed. She didn't run far- just far enough that he would have to work to catch her. Her body was much smaller and, she assumed, her feet were far more agile, since he couldn't dance.
Winter giggled to herself as she came to a stop and leaned up against a tree, breathing heavily and making no effort to mask her noise.
She didn't really believe he'd catch her.
