The white stone rolled on the ground until it hit Joe. The stone unfurled, as though it had been coiled up very tightly, into a spectral image of Joe that lay on top of his physical self. The two joined together, the spirit disappearing into the body. Not a moment later, Joe sat up and coughed.
"...That was a total drag."

Riley walked over to Makoto, and Ryu 'walked' over to Joe. They asked how they were.

Joe started to get to his feet, and recognized Ryu in the light of the fire. "Hey, it's the negatory dude! Welcome to the party, freshy." He threw up a high-five, expecting Ryu to return it.

With Riley not paying attention, Ryu stood motionless.
"Eh..." He stared at the hand for a long while. He even tried moving by himself. Useless.
"Oh." Riley turned, moving her hand, and Ryu returned the high five. "Sorry, my bad." She laughed.

"It's not that bad." He smiled, lying through his teeth. He changed the subject quickly. "Do you know what that thing was? You know, the monster-thing?"

Joe shrugged. "No clue, dude! But it's not like it's my problem now anyway." he walked over to the futon, grabbing a couple of bags of chips and the dip. He started setting plates and cups down by chairs around the fire.
"It's time to party! We can start with some scary stories, y'know?"

"Trying living with her." Ryu said, directing toward Riley. "Total frightfulness."
"Mah..." Riley said as she rolled her eyes. "I wouldn't be going there. Remember, I own and control you." she threatened.

"aaaw i cant eat chips with these teeth!" Makoto said because she was in her wolf form so she had all kanine teeth.

Joe rolled out of his chair. "Oh yeah, I guess that kinda doesn't work, huh? Well here, lemme at least getcha some punch." He walked over and grabbed one of the cups of punch and poured it into an empty bowl, filling it about halfway.
"Sorry about that. I wasn't ready for the canine-inclined I guess."
He set that down next to Makoto before hopping back into one of the lawn chairs around the fire, and sitting forward, looking back at Ryu. "Man, I know how it is. One time? My roommate was totally a bear. He never let me do anything cool, it was always "Rarrgh" this or "Rarrgh" that. Always had to eat fish for dinner."

"thanks! and a bear?! im a were wolf so im only like this on full moons but i dont think i could stand being like this all the time!" Makoto said laughing and then drank some of the punch.

"Yeah, good times." Joe said as he munched on a fistful of doritos. He leaned back from the fire to look at the sky and saw that it was full of bright stars tonight.
"Awesome. I totally picked the right night for a hangout..."
As though he'd just been reminded of something, Joe sat up in his chair again, hunched over in storyteller mode again.
"Hey, did any of you ever hear there was, like, a war between humans and demons a long time ago?

Then a white cat ran into the room with what looked like the shadow-thing in some sort of cage floating and following it. "hey Makoto is that you?" the cat said. "its me! Rei! how ya doin?" "oh hey Rei! i see your in your cat form again! uhhh whats with the thing in the cage?" Makoto said. "this thing? it tried to eat me so i trapped it in a magic forcefield! pretty neat huh?" Rei said. "so whatcha guys doin?" (for those who are confused Rei is another character i made whos a witch that loves to transform into a cat.)

Joe scratched his head. "Man, I guess I gotta set out some animal food next time we do this. Like, hey."
He pulled up a seat and threw a pillow on it. "There ya go kitty cat. We were just in the middle of storytime. Ever heard of the war between humans and demons? It happened a long time ago."
