"Ah, back to the glum mood?" she said with a small frown, poking his plate with her fork. "Come, whatever you're moping over can't have been that bad. You seem like a nice guy to me." Just when he had started to cheer up too. Drat. Well, no matter, she'd get back another smile somehow.

He raised his eyebrows at her from under his mop of hair and sighed again. "...I got drunk with some other boys at the weyr, which was already stupid. Then I grabbed a drudge. She..." He did the hand wave again. "...It wasn't good. On any level."
Definitely not a crazy flit. "So I don't feel much like a good guy." A lot of rules had been stretched to their limit to keep him waiting to impress, and he knew it, he just wasn't sure if he wouldn't just disappoint the people who'd given it to him.

"Oh? Is that how it went down?" Gabriel replied curiously. She blinked a second before smiling after. "Well then, just don't ever get drunk again and you should be good, right? Perhaps you are a bad drunk, but I still think you are nice enough sober. After all, if you weren't a nice guy you wouldn't be so guild-ridden about all of this, right?" She nodded again. In her mind, her logic was infallible. "Problem solved."

Wait. She was still smiling? This didn't add up to his previous experiences. He looked at her in surprise, plucking at his hair again. "...I dunno. I guess?"
What she said made sense, even felt good coming from someone else. He hadn't touched alcohol since, though then again he hadn't had the opportunity either, so he didn't know for sure his resolution would hold.
"So if I screw up again then what? Should I arm you in advance with a cup of klah and an angry flit?" Maybe she even would. It wouldn't hurt to have someone stand by him.
"You're right though...I mean that I should avoid alcohol. I should have known better."

"Nah, no need for the klah or flit. I think a swift kick to the sensitive spot should do the trick," Gabriel replied simply. "Painful enough to bring one back to their senses and no scar to boot. Another easy fix."
She couldn't help but chuckle at the expression on his face. "In all seriousness though, I think you've probably learned your lesson. The kick is simply a worst-case scenario strategy."

Saekagi flinched and grimaced at the mental image, universal reflex for any man who's ever seen, or felt, a good quick kick in said spot. "Ooof, yeah I'd imagine that would do it. And if it didn't It would probably mean I'd already passed out and wouldn't care for a few more hours."

"That's true too," Gabriel agreed with a nod before finishing the last of her breakfast. "Mm, that was good. Unfortunately you're going to have to excuse me, because I have some chores to get working on." She stood up from her seat and gathered up her plate and utensils to take with her. "It was nice talkin to ya, Saekagi. Hopefully I'll see you around more soon."

"...Thank you. It was nice to talk." He agreed, flashing an lopsided but real smile. "Good luck with your chores." He added. That part of candidacy was hard to forget, especially with the number of times he'd drawn the chores that really stunk ((literally, like numb weed or latrine duty)) after getting in trouble.
