Achilles found himself wanting to roll his eyes slightly as the Lynx performed the pack voodoo but he managed to restrain himself, hopefully they had not done so too soon - he was sure the named heir dying would cause an up-stir in the pack even with other sisters in line to take over. They would probably call it 'bad luck' and blame him. They liked to blame him for well..anything they could really.
The joke was on all of them this go round however - for while yes the first pup had been small the rest were all strong, healthy pups and logically he knew in a litter of six..one was just destined to be smaller then the others. He;d even managed to garner one son out of the deal which pleased him to no end. "Patroclus" He pronounced with a slight nod. "glory of the father" Seemed suiting to him for surely the daughters would bring glory to their mother.

Her smile grew a bit more as Achilles gave his only son a name. "It is a good name." She told him as her eyes roamed over the pups, all of whom were now busy nursing save for the tiniest. The Queen took a moment to move the other pups around so as to make room for that pup to join them. The pups whined in protest of being moved but Penthesilea wanted to make sure that the weakest was given enough room so that she wasn't overpowered by her siblings. Siblings which were all double her size. It was going to be a tough road ahead, especially for the next few days but she was certain the pup would survive.
Picking up the runt she placed her at her side as well and then with a yawn laid her head down on her paws. "She will need extra attention, though not because she is my heir." She told Achilles, hoping that he would stick around to help her out, if not, she had a pack full of sister to do so. With a smile in his direction she spoke again. "You have served me well Achilles."

Might have been better for her had she not been named heir Achilles thought to himself as he eyed the larger sisters, true it might give her something to live up to as she grew - but doubtless it would also garner her some unwanted attention from those stronger. Perhaps - and he hoped this would be the case she would catch up in growth as she aged.
He doubted Penthesilea would wish to hear these thoughts however, to suggest she should have named another would probably make her angry and she needed to rest after birthing six pups not argue with him. "I shall go and fetch you a strengthening meal, milk for six will not come easily" He told her with a slight nod before slipping from the den. Apparantly he planned on sticking around.
