Yuki merely listened as he talked through their walk. She gave a nod here and there so that the male knew she was listening to him at least. It was quite tough to talk through skin and fur after all.
But She set Mei down to answer one question. The male had a point, it was a bit of a walk. But Aiko had given one tid bit of information about the pride that made Yuki sure she did not want to stay. Aiko had even warned her about it. The pride did not care for lions and Mei was half. Mei would never be treated as equally as she was because of the blood taint of lion.
"I m sorry but I can't. For Mei's sake she needs a stabler environment." She nuzzled the little hybrid Mei who happily returned her sisters nuzzle with one of her own. Yuki looked back up at the dark stranger.
"What ever this place is and where ever it is... Im not going to talk about. Im not sure what sort of pride this is but since I've gotten here everyone I've run into seems to want me to keep it a secret. I m not sure why it needs to be such a secret but I can assure you that I have no desire on talking about it." Yuki took a seat next to Mei. The cheetahs tail flicked a little to side to side.

"A stabler environment?" Mana echoed, not comprehending at first.
He looked at the cub. His attention kept being drawn back to her anyway because there was something about her which struck him as out of the ordinary. This time he really took the time to look at her. Before he had noted that something about her reminded him of Enzi. Something about her size and...her tail. It was her tail that was wrong. She was a hybrid, and to make matters worse, she was a lion-cheetah cross.
"I see what you mean," he said, doing his best to conceal his own distaste for that sort of hybridism. It wasn't so much that he objected to hybrids as he objected to what it did to a body's spirit when lions crossbred with other species. That was a disturbing thought.
"Thank you, by the way, for not talking about it. The secrecy may seem unusual to you, but it's our way." No need to mention that the pride was very young and that everyone in it was still adjusting to the way of things. He was still adjusting, at any rate.
"Was there anywhere in particular you wanted to go or were hoping to end up?" he asked.

Yuki shook her head, "No there is no where for me and Mei in particular." She had to admit this journey was pretty aimless. The two would know what they were looking for when they found it. That was one thing the female was sure of.
"I think we'll be alright though. Everythings been going smoothly on our travels so far," Though honestly they still werent all that far from where they had begun their travels. Really they could turn back and in two or three days be right back home.
Still Yuki was impressed with the progress she'd made.

Mana questioned for a moment the wisdom of traveling with a young cub without a specific destination in mind. He had run for weeks without one, but he had been fleeing. That scenario was a little different, and he didn't think it applied to this pair. Neither of them bore that sort of haunted look of someone who was on the run. He was glad of that, really. Young folk shouldn't have to be so afraid that their only option is flight. Just thinking that made him feel old.
"It's brave of you to undertake a journey by yourself," Mana admitted. He wouldn't have attempted it at her age, and definitely not with a young cub to watch out for at the same time. But then, he wasn't likely to attempt anything involving young cubs. He didn't care for cubs in the general course of things. Loud, sticky, demanding, helpless, and bad company overall.
"I'm pleased things have gone well for you so far, and hope they continue to go well for you," he said honestly. The thought of that pair running into trouble, even though Mei's species made him uncomfortable, was one which disturbed him. He was basically a good person, after all.

The female gave the male a smile. Was she really brave for taking on this journey? The female did not know.
"I better be getting on my way with little Mei. Im sure the two of us will be just fine," She nuzzled her sister, "But it was nice to meet you. Maybe our paths will cross again." She gathered her sister in her maw and started off away from the male. Hopefully she wouldn't wander into another territory unknowingly.
She disappeared in the thick of the green.

"Goodbye," he said, giving her a grin which was both friendly and fierce. It was not an expression designed to intimidate, but rather to imply that he had no intention of harming her. She was leaving, there was no need for that.
Mana watched the adolescent pick up her kid sister and make her way out of the pride's lands. Even though she had a coat the light color of an innocent and her half-sister was spiritually crippled, he really did wish them both good luck. It didn't seem like an easy life she'd chosen for herself, and they'd probably need it.
He shook himself all over, chiding himself for growing soft in his old age, and gave his head a final sharp shake before setting off once more for the pride. Nyoka would be missing him by now.
