Nalira hesitated, glancing over to Linneas. She gave him a worried look, raising an eyebrow subtely. She decided not to say anything of it, afterall, maybe he just didn't like this Lynn. Nalira sure didn't. She had not, perhaps, met him yet, but the mere mention of him made the hairs on the back of Nalira's neck stand on end.
"Oh. Peno -- er, penance, did you say? I'm afraid I've never heard of that. Nor have I heard of 'Lynn'." She emphasized 'Lynn' a little more then she had intended to, and hence gave Linneas an apologetic look. For all she knew, Lynn could be his friend or something. She didn't want to offend Linneas with her sharp tone.
Nalira tilted her head downwards to her shuffling, tightening her grip on Linneas' arm, losing all motivation to speak. Everything that came out of her mouth was either offensive or dry, and she didn't want Linneas to hate her. They'd only just reunited.

"Don't worry yourself about it." Linneas smiled, gently patting Nalira's hand. "Ai's the only one who has met Lynn, and to be honest I don't really know what that penance is for or why I have to do it." he shrugged, he saw no need to worry Nalira, it was the last thing he wanted. "We're almost at the cafe, you hungry for anything in particular? I have a good credit rating there, the shop supplies the cafe's order pads." he chuckled, changing to subject to something more pleasant.
The air was still cold but there was little wind, which was a good thing as Linneas was starting to feel the chill.

Nalira smiled, leaning against him slightly as they walked. She coughed repeatedly into her hand, her chest rumbling painfully. Shaking it off, she chuckled slightly, quirking an eyebrow in his general direction.
"I don't mind. It all tastes the same to me. If you can't see what you're eating, it doesn't have the gross factor, I suppose." She shrugged again, laughing at his following comment. She shuddered slightly at the wind, or lack of, her teeth chattering against her will.
She sniffled, raising a hand to wipe her nose, coughing into the raised hand once more. Damned head cold. She shifted her weight from Linneas, straightening up slowly and guiding herself with her cane.

It was official, Linneas was going to get Nala warmed up before they head back to the store. The cafe's exterior was just as damp and chilly as the park, but that changed once they stepped through the doors. The building was heated, and soft music filtered out of the speakers, giving the cafe a cozy atmosphere. He led her into the cafe, ushering them to his usual table.
"I'll order some Shepherd's pie, do you want anything particular to drink?" he asked.

Nalira sat and brushed a piece of loose hair from her face. She rose a hand to her face, leaning on it heavily, sighing. She ran her finger over the table's surface gently, rubbing the dirt and muck between her index finger and thumb idley.
"Hmm? Oh, Shephard's pie sounds great. Drink .. drink .. um, I'll have whatever you're having." She muttered lamely, waving her hand through the air suggestively. She coughed into her hand and rubbed her temple tenderly, leaning back against her chair. There was a horrible, lingering silence between them which was only broken by the occasional scraping of Nalira's chair as she moved. Nalira went to speak, but instead bit her tongue viciously. Perhaps it was best just wait until Linneas spoke, astleast then she couldn't make a fool out of herself by asking something stupid.

Linneas detested awkward silences, especially when they made him feel uneasy. He had made their order and came back with the food,
"Joe'll call us when our drinks are ready," Linneas explained as he sat down across Nalira. "So... you feeling alright?" he asked lamely.

Nalira mentally smiled at the awkward, and occasionaly lame questions. She placed her hands on the table, shrugging.
"Yeah, I guess. Well, I mean, I'm still alive, aren't I?" She laughed, tapping her fingers idly. "And how are you feeling? Fit and healthy, I hope." She coughed into her hand once more, the bile from her lungs burning at her chest and throat.

"You don't sound alright..." Linneas frowned in concern as Nalira coughed. "Have you been to the doctors to get a check up?"

Nalira let out a breath, pulling a face at Linneas' comment. She frowned, shaking her head and becoming strangely interested in her hands. She coughed awkwardly into her hand, looking up at him.
"No, I don't really like hospitals, or doctors. I'm sure it's just a cough, don't worry about it, I'll be fine. It's probably going around." She waved it off with her hand, offering him a gentle smile. "Besides, you didn't answer my question. How have you been?"

Somehow Linneas didn't quite believe that Nalira alright, there was something in her voice that unnerved him. Still, if the younger Tale didn't want to talk about it, he wouldn't force her.
"I'm alright," he nods, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "A little tired from taking care of the shop and my little sister, but it's alright." he shrugs.

Nalira smiled as she twirled a loose strand of hair around her index finger. It almost looked as if she wasn't listening, but she was, even if her attention was wavering slightly.
"Mmm, I can understand that. Sometimes responsibility gets tiring after you've done it for such a long time. You deserve a break." She replied reassuringly, tapping her cheek thoughtfully.
"So .. have you caught up with anyone other then me?" She asked curiously, leaning her chin into her open palm.

"Other than you? Hm, I don't think so. I've been really busy with the shop, even with Ning's help y'know?" Linneas answered in embarrasment. He sounded so anti-social and... boring.
"How about you?" he asked, trying to hide how uninteresting his life seems to be.

Nalira laughed under her breath, nodding to show she understood. She scratched at her head gently, giving a little 'hum' of thought.
"Mm, I have. I met Sylvester and Ezra, they're really nice. I also met Chai, she's really friendly. I met her when I found Andrael .." She trailed off, waving her hand in the air lamely, coughing awkwardly.

Andrael... Andrael... the name sounded so familiar. "Who's Andrael?" Linneas asked, brows knitting together as he tried to remember. He was jarred out of his thoughts as Nalira began to cough. Frowning in concern, he started to slice at the pie with a practiced ease. He divided it into two, but before he gave Nalira her share, he began to cut it into smaller chunks.
"Here, have something to eat." he instructed, the way an older brother would to a younger sibling.
