It really isn’t about doing something right or wrong.
For some reason or another, a ghost has decided it likes your energy. So it hangs around to bask in your company. The only ways to get rid of it now is to find out what it wants and help the ghost find closure or either cause it to loose interest or force it to leave.
I prefer trying to communicate with the ghost and finding out what it wants. But getting rid of it isn’t always possible depending on the reason the ghost is there.
So in come the hard core stuff: exorcism and warding.
Both of these require a great deal of faith in whatever deity or force/energy you believe in. Believing in these external entities/energies is the vital part for a ritual to be successful. Without that faith the ghost won’t be gone for very long.
But do you need to believe in some God or external power? Probably not. Though that would now mean you have to believe in yourself and your strengths or the abilities of the professional you ask to come in and do it for you.
