Mena was rather disinclined to believe her adoptive uncle would ever be that altruistic (or even commercially minded!) but it wasn't worth pursuing, so she simply nodded at the explanation.

Sorcha's second request had her chuckling. "Fairly human, though she can stand colder water than most," the cat woman answered. That only seemed to apply if she was entirely submerged though--she had run a few experiments on it, with Dacj's full willing participation. "Should I ask, or is it better for me not to know...?"

(Okay, that Mena fully understands XD )

Mena really did laugh this time--maybe it was because she could easily see Dacj chucking water buckets on the poor teen. Dacj's sense of humor did tend to run a bit...strange, at times. "I won't tell her," Mena promised, still chuckling. "But be kind! I know she has an unfair advantage but try not to get too overzealous when 'acquiring advantages'." For one thing, once Sorcha started bringing other things into play, the kraken would no doubt see the need to get advantages of her own...and then collateral damage was possible.

Mena politely did not interrupt Sorcha's daydreaming (heaven knew she'd been just as scheming as a teen, both in matters romantic and mad science-y), though her grin was wide as she waited for the cow girl to come back to reality. "Just try not to run afoul of Eli and Kamiko while you're at it; family drama is always such a hassle..." It'd worked well enough between Eli and Zane, but Zane's ambitions were nothing like those of Sorcha's...or so it would seem. "Did you want me to see if Dacj's free?" she added. Yeah, Sorcha had her approval--she seemed like a nice enough kid, if perhaps a bit overenthusiastic, but that was what Dacj's levelheadedness was for, right?

"Dacj will very much take exception if you antagonize Eli," Mena advised, though she wasn't sure exactly what she was advising against, truth be told. Was it just general easy-to-tease, or...?

Well, no matter, Eli was pretty good at escaping. She was sure it would be fine.

"I'll be back then--just wait here," Mena said, standing and striding off to yell out the back door, figuring the most likely places were the swimming pool and treehouse and either way Dacj ought to be able to hear her.

The kraken came at her call, emerging out of the swimming pool and wringing her hair out before shuffling in, grey eyes blinking as she stepped inside to the distinctly less bright house. "Sorcha's here," Mena said, thumbing over at the dining room.

"I take it she met with your approval then," Dacj said with a cheeky grin.

"Eh, pretty much what I'd expect of a Hyte raised by Uncle Na-kun, but she's not bad," Mena said, grinning back. "Play nice, now."

"Okaaaay~" Dacj said, wrinkling her nose at her mother before heading to the dining room--she wasn't trying to be stealthy today. "Sorcha!"

Dacj giggled at Sorcha's excitement--it was an infectious mood. And had she just been asked on a proper date? It seemed so~

"I would love to get dinner and a movie sometime," she said, grinning. "And it's nice to see you too," she added, squeezing Sorcha's hands held in her own. "Have anything particular in mind? Movie or dinner-wise, I suppose. Oh, when could be important too..."

Mena peeked back through the doorway connecting kitchen and dining room, amused at the girls' similar speech patterns--both adding in things as they came to mind. They'd make an interesting pair, of that she had no doubt.

Dacj chuckled at Sorcha's misinterpretation of the movie's plot--about the worst thing she can think of in it might be people crying sappily at something or another, hardly rating the sinister tone of voice. She supposed they can always just run commentary during the movie if they find it too boring... "That sounds okay to me. Food--I'm not too picky really, s'long as I'm not eating squid," she said wryly.

Dacj raised an eyebrow and sighed, "I figured you for the cannibalistic type~" She knew other Hytes might not be opposed to it, but for her...well, squid's something one had to usually go a little out of their way to acquire, and so it was a very different matter than, say, a rooster Hyte eating chicken. Or a cow Hyte eating beef. "And, yes, it does bother me to see other people eating it too."
