Ive played drop d for about three months and its my favorite on bass. I like to play like SOAD!

I belt out drop d for fast power cord riffs... a good way to learn it by ear is just tune down picking both the 6th and 5th till you hear the ronchy sound of a half power chord... and if you want to make sure strum a d chord using every string man and it should sound clean and nice man...
i also belt out drop d to play some trippy riffs... either that or i tune the 6th string a lower octave than the 5th string... but right now im playing in standard B.... i think.... maybe A.....
other than that its all standard Eb
