I have a 14" machete close at hand in my room. Its better than nothing, but I'm trying to convince my dad to let me keep my Smith & Wesson 40 cal semi-auto in my room.

If it's yours, why can't you keep it in your room?

Dad's rule. Doesn't matter whose gun it is, it stays in the Gun Room.
(Mainly because we have a 5 year old cousin who frequently visits and he gets into EVERYTHING.)
