Howl shook his head. "That's not what Darcy implied," he muttered. "I don't know who she'll place him with, or if I'll even be able to see him." Th wizard glanced at Eve and seemed to realize his mistake in wording. "I apologize, I didn't mean you. Darcy brought me here as an experiment. Just to see if she could do it. She made you, I'm sure, with the knowledge that you would be loved and happy."
He took another book from the shelves and handed it to her. "Herbology. The study of herbs," he explained. "You might find this useful. Is there anything else you're looking for?"

Eve smiled as she had tried not to be hurt from his earlier comment. "You are his father, why shouldn't you be allowed to see him?" Eve asked and shrugged, "It's all right. From what I hear, not many people like them. I'm my mother's ragdoll daughter and my mother loves me, so I'm happy, experiment or not."
She held the second book and grinned, "Thank you and I think healing and herbs and learning what magic I can is enough."
She turned slightly as Damin came over, curious about what she was doing. "Who's your friend, little Eve," Damin asked.
"Howl, meet my uncle Damin. Uncle Damin, meet Howl," she introduced.

"I don't know. Maybe his new parents won't consider me his father, because I'm so young. Or maybe they'll try to keep him away from me to raise him as their own. Maybe..." he sighed. "My aunt Thali likes Aaron, and she's friends with Jaella," he mused. "Jaella's my friend too. She helped me find Sophie."
He practically jumped when he saw Damin. A million and one things zoomed through his head, most of them being variants of 'Vampire!'. "H-hello," he stammered. "I was helping Eve get the books she wanted."

"Perhaps by the time Darcy brings him to Gaia, you might be an adult and able to see him," Eve replied. "I don't remember meeting Aaron when I was an infant, but I know Jaella."
Damin smiled gently, "Thank you. I understand my niece can't reach some books because of her height at the moment." He took the books from Eve to look at them, "Nice choices. Eve should learn much from these books."
Damin, remembering his manners, offered a hand to Howl. "My name is Damin Frost and I am Eve's uncle. I know you can tell I'm a vampire, but I feed off blood packs, not from the neck."
