Dashing back not long after they started to pick up the bundle of berries, walking along quietly as he was carrying the cloth in his mouth. Nodding though as she offered him advice on dealing with her dad. Looking at her, smiling with his eyes, wanting to try to get on with her dad, but not sure how to stand up to him. Then again he was a respected adult and he was a colt that was working things out. Gazing round the training grounds, this area pretty too, turning in a slow circle as he takes in everything. His head wings wiggleing, looking forward to the day

Syaoran-Puu She smiled as she watched him, even when he was silent his words spoke volumes, and right now it was clear that he was excited. His little ear wings wiggled just like hers did -did his do it when he was happy or for a different reason? She would have to add that to the list of questions to ask him later. Turning her gaze from him to her father who was sitting on a near by rock waiting for them she beamed at him before running towards him -ears wiggling, tail swishing from side to side, rump swaying -she called. "Daddy!"
Syaoran-Puu Maion had been daydreaming of how he met Sengdroma when his ears flickered with the presence of a new sound. Instantly he stiffened slightly as he sniffed the air for a scent and scanned the ground for signs of what had caused the sound. As the breeze carried a familar scent he relaxed a little -his daughter was coming. Standing to his feet he waited for them to arrive. It didn't take long before Chandra and her friend Sonnet where standing before him. He grunted a little under his breath but so low it was unlikely anyone who wasn't directly on him -like Elijah was- would hear him.
He smiled softly as his daughter ran towards him, in one fluid movement he jumped from the rock to the ground and nuzzled her neck softly. She smelled like strawberries -where had she got strawberries from. He looked towards her friend and bowed his head softly in greeting.

Sonnet gave a little bow in return to Maion after he noticed the stallion looking at him. Having been watching father and daughter with an oddly tender expression. Thinking it was wonderful how loving the family was, his family were close too, though his older sister was a little odd. But they probably didn't express it as well as this family did. Maybe he should try letting his family know he loved them more often. Walking over closer to the pair, having given them the space for their greeting. Still carrying the little cloth bundlle in his mouth. His head wings having gone more still, this usually a sign that he was unsure or nervous. Glancing at Chan before looking back at her father, remembering what she had said... stand up to him. Straightening up, though he really had no idea how to stand up to such a big male.

Syaoran-Puu Pulling away from her father she turned to look at Sonnet with a soft grin upon her face, she was interested to see how his effort would be receieved. She was sure her father would understand and be more accepting than the previous night -she couldn't blaim him though, she had been home later than normal and she still didn't know where the sun went at night.
Syaoran-Puu Maion felt suddenly cold as his daughter left his side, especially since he knew what was coming -formal introductions and then flying lessons. He just hoped that he would be able to pass on the skill, especially since no one had taught him and he wasn't completely sure he was explaining it right -Io had learnt, so he couldn't have been all that bad, right?
"My name is Maion young one." His gaze was set on the young colt, it was clear from his actions that he was trying to stand tall and impress him. And he had to admit that he admired the effort. Even if he suspected that Chandra had 'hinted' at what he needed to do. Either way he knew he was intimidating, afterall he often used that to his advantage when protecting the herd from danger. Watching every movement (and lack of) he was trying to analyse the truth behind the young colt.

Sonnet walked over to place the small bundle he was carrying on a small rock so it didn't get stepped on and waisted. Walking back to face the big male, offering a friendly though slightly unsure smile. "My name is Sonnet Sir, I'm very pleased to meet you." Hos voice honest and good natured, clearly being respectful to an elder, having been taught some manners at least it seemed. Still standing up straight meeting Maions eyes. "Thank you for agreeing to teach me as well... I'm very grateful." Not sure how to express his gratitude but he supposed that would come in time.

Syaoran-Puu Maions eyes looked at the parcel that had been dropped at the rock, and as athe breeze picked up the distinct smell of strawberries hit him -so that was where she had got them from. Had this young colt brought them with him? How interesting. Not mentioning them he turned back to look at Sonnet as he spoke, it was clear he was good natured and meant his words -true Angeni blood ran through his veins it seemed. That would make it hard for him to dislike him -drats. "You are more than welcome." he looked at Chandra and then back again, "So tell me -before we begin- what has my lovely daughter taught you so far? What do you know about flying? And how much can you do so far?" He knew from their sessions what Chandra's ability was, and to be honest she wasn't very good which was a shame, though she was true of heart and determined which made him hope that one day she would manage it, even if she couldn't fly as high as the rest of her breed.
Syaoran-Puu Chandra blushed brightly at her fathers words, she didn't want her lessons to be brought up in case he didn't approve or something. She longed to impress him. She wanted to fly.

Sonnet looked over at the bundle, wondering when he was supposed to give them to Maion. Snapping his attention back to the male as she was addressed, tilting his head as he considers what a full answer would be. "Well, mostly she has been trying to show me how to feel the wind in my wings... Not to hold them too stiffly... And she has been showing me how to float.... Though I'm not very good at it... But I've been practicing, and working on making my wings stronger so they can lift me up." Looking at Chan then. "I promised I'd practice and I did, every day." Usually finding that he was disturbed by something or other but he did practice all the time he was alone. Smiling, at her please he could say he kept his promise. Looking back to Maion. "Other than that she said it was gonna take work, and I ill work hard!" A determind young fellow, he was going to fly and he was going to be good at it cause he needed to be good so he could protect people. Giving a determind nod when he finishes, having left chunks out but not able to remember every single thing she had said, though his body seems to remember the corrections she made when they had been having a lesson. Looking over at the bundle again, a small puzzled frown on his face as he finds himself wondering when to give them again.

Syaoran-Puu Maion nodded as Sonnet spoke, it seemed that Chandra was trying to teach him everything she remembered but from their lack of flight it was likely she had forgotten then need for a upthrust, although she had remembered the flow of air -at least it was a start. "I see." He looked to Chandra and then back at her companion again. "Would you mind demonstrating for me?" He didn't want to be too tough on him when it came to flying, after all he was a child just like his daughter was. They where still learning.
Syaoran-Puu Chandra listened to his words and as he looked at her she found that she couldn't keep eye contact in fear that she would set herself on fire with the heat she was generating. After he had finished she looked to the parcel and then had the courage to look at Sonnet who was also looking at it. Taking a small gulp she interupted her father. "Daddy... Sonnet brought you something." She then stepped towards Sonnet, placed her nose on his shoulder and pushed him slightly in an effort to encourage him to take over.
Syaoran-Puu Maion was a little taken aback by her words but turned his attention to the consealed bag of strawberries and then the young colt -what would he do now? His daughter always had 'perfect timing' when it came to making those around her feel uncomfortable.

celticrowen: Sonnet looked at her as she nudged him, having been about to agree to show what he could do, totally forgetting about that with what she had said now. Clearly having been a little startled, but after a moment or two of shock he gathered himself, giving a nod and walking over to where he had left the pouch of strawberries. "Maion Sir... I brought these for you... though Chan has had one... she hadn't tried them before... My father told me that a present was a good way to say thank you... So...." Looking from Maion to the small sweet strawberries. "I hope you like them." Offering an unsure smile, looking up at the larger male. "And I'll show you what I can do when it comes to flying..." Nodding, thinking he understands why Maion wanted to see.

Syaoran-Puu Maion couldn't help but let a small chukcle escape his lips, the nerves just seemed to scream from the colts every pour.... he couldn't let this continue, especially if he was going to teach him. And so he would treat him like his own child -more or less- until the lesson was over at least. "Sonnet.... " He bit his tongue a little, before trying to smile, hoping he didn't look fierce or evil for that wasn't his intent. "They are lovely, thank you. I will share them with my mate Sengdroma later." He hesitated a little before adding, "You are welcome to join us for lunch after the lesson -a good diet is vital if you want to learn to fly after all."
He was going to leave it there before he remembered one more thing, "Also... don't call me 'sir' it makes me feel old." He winked at him, attempting to be more friendly.
"So...." he started before looking to Chandra as if wanting to see her reaction to what he had just done.
Syaoran-Puu Chandra was utterly taken aback by the conversation that unraveled before them, it seemed that her father was actually trying to accept him -almost talking to him like his did Mal, harsher than his girls but friendly enough. She smiled widely, at least this wouldn't be as bad as she had dared to think. She nodded to her Daddy to show her approval before relaxing softly and leaning her head on Sonnets shoulder without thinking.
Syaoran-Puu He cringed a little at the way Chandra acted around the colt, he could only hope that they truely where 'just friends'. Deciding it was safe he continued. "Come on boy... show me what you have got."

Sonnet almost seemed to deflate as the nerves ran out of him. Least this was promising that things will be better. Giving Maion a smile, relaxing a little bit, glad that he was being a little more friendly. "Thank you, I'd love to stay for lunch if its no trouble." Looking at Chan when she plonked her head on his shoulder, not able to help the smile of amusement, still not used to this closeness but he liked that she felt that safe around him. Giving her a gentle friendly nudge of warning that he was going to move, before moving away unfolding his wings as he moved away, making sure that he had got enough room, clearly remembering that part of his lessons. Giving his wings a stretch and some practice flaps to loosen up he checked his feathers. Always seeming to be loosing some of late, though Ivory landing on him hadn't helped matters. But they all looked fine. Starting to flap, like he did when he practiced, focusing on getting a little off the ground and staying there without going too high. After a few flaps his hooves started to leave the ground, managing to stay up for a few minutes, though he would go up then bob down, clearly not wanting to get too high till he was more sure of hi wings. Landing on all four hooves with a small thud, not really knowing how to land properly, he just dropped.

Syaoran-Puu Ok so it seemed that he was getting the hang of soaring, although he was still uneasy and unsure about himself. Satisfied that there was a good foundation he turned to his daughter. "Your turn."
Syaoran-Puu Chandra moved away as Sonnet wiggled to signal he was going to move, she plopped herself -rather unelegantly at that- onto the thr ground to watch. She thought that Sonnet was doing really well, especially since when they first met he hadn't been able to flutter or do anything else. She was proud of him which was clear by the huge grin on her face, yet that was soon erased as soon as her father told her it was her go.
With a gulp she rose to her feet and took a few steps so that she was away from them both with enough room to try. She knew she needed lift to force her up and that drag from the resistance of the air would slow her down and drag her back. Taking a deep breath she jumped onto a tallish rock, spread her wings out giving them a little wiggle before she kicked off with her rear hooves and propelled herself forward. She managed to float forward and as she tried to flap her wings in an effort to cause herself to rise she was able to float up a few inches before she began to glide to the ground. That seemed to be all she could manage.
Syaoran-Puu Just as he expected -she wasn't trying to fly high, it was as if she was only half trying. He needed to give her some sort of incentive... perhaps this stallion would be of use in tha department?

Sonet had moved out the way for Chan, stood quietly off to the side his eyes followed her as she went up, then glided, then up a little again, then glided more. Following her movement through the air, his expression transparent as he admired the grace of the gliding, changing as she tried to get more height, rooting for her. Only to watch smiling as she came down to land. He hadn't had much luck with gliding yet, he could manage short distances, or occaisonally like yesterday he could surprise himself and actually glide a useful distance. Though that was usually more fluke than practice. Trotting over to Chan with a smile. "I still cant get my flying to look that pretty!" Him clearly having been impressed.

Syaoran-Puu Chandra blushed a little at Sonnets words, she couldn't see herself but she had to admit that she didn't believe anything she did could be considered pretty -even she wasn't that pretty, especially in comparision to her sister Io. But that was the way of the world. She would forever be the ugly duckling and never a swan. "Thank you" she whispered to him before smiling and turning towards her father to see what he would say. Would he be impressed? She had been practising.
Syaoran-Puu Not wanting to comment on their mistakes straight away Maion decided that it was best to give them both information about flight. Perhaps then it would give them the tools needed to fly -and in Chandra's case, a reason to.
"Ok.... not bad." He offered them a warming smile before he began his lesson. He would start on the wings and the feathers that made them up. "Let us begin. Before you can fly you need to understand how your wings work." He took a calming breath to focus himself. "Your main flight feathers are the larger ones, they are strong enough to provide lift when you take off. It is this force that allows you to defy gravity enough to fly in the air. Each feather has a hollow shaft -the part that runs down the centre of each feather. It is this part that allows the flow of air to travel through your wings so that you can control it with your wing shapes." He took a breath and allowed them to absorb the information a little before asking, "Any questions so far?"

Sonnet went from attentive listening to looking at his wings carefully, seeming to understand better now. Looking back to Maion and listening more before returning his eyes to his wing, moving it to change the shape, seeing how the feathers altered slightly. "Oooh..." He might not fully comprehend but he got the general gist of what was being said. Nodding and smiling. "I think I get it, the big feathers help you go up, but if you change your wing shape you do different things..." Not knowing what those thigns were but having grased htat much so far.
