my parents still won't let me wear all black all the time...I used to in 7th grade but then my mom threatened to throw away my clothes and replace them w/ pink...I hate pink...so...I started wearing some colors but black still dominates...so I'd suggest getting some colors that aren't really light but aren't black either and wear them sometimes...but don't go all out against your parents...you still need to respect them

Just tell them to let you be who you wanna be... Tell them that no matter what you will have god in your heart and your appreance has nothing to do with your religion...

I think that your parents are just afraid, because either they were alternative when they were growing up and they fear for you or they are scared because they have absorbed every goth stereotype there is. This would include being satanic, wearing all black all the time, and some other stuff I don't feel like elaborating. When it comes down to it people see what they want to see. If they want to see wearing black as a threat of satanic activity, then that is what they are going to see. I know that you should obey your parents, but I would suggest talking with your parents about it. Have evidence that goths are not all satanic, give them positive attributes that "goths" have. Tell them that it doesn't matter what one looks like that just spawns hatred and discrimination.

miturn Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! scream My 'rents are freaking out and not letting me dress goth because they think I need to be more "light" instead of "dark"!! It's making me seriously very freaking mad becuase I feel as if I'm not expressing myself and I hate that....... They keep saying that I don't know what I'm doing or this is gonna make your life miserable or this will separate you from god and all that crap!!!!!! My family thinks it's all satanic and stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What should I do???? Hmmm..... I don't know how put this sort of thing to your parents gently, but... here's what I did when I was your age. I wasn't even goth, btw, I just wore a lot of black and watched a lot of horror movies. My mom told me one day that the horror flicks were making her "worry about my soul" or something (she still holds this opinion) I told her that maybe I should be more like and be 17 and have already had three abortions.
Of course, it helped that there actually was a local preppy girl who was 17 and had already had three abortions, and my mother knew that.
As a teacher, if it makes you feel better, I'll tell you that love my little goth kids, and not just because they remind me of my teenage years. They're usually smart, and kind and very thoughtful.....which is more than I can say for a lot of my white-t-shirt crowd.

My mother doesn't like how I wear black alot... says I should dress more "colorfully"... thankfully though, she's one of the few who don't believe that goths are satanic.

Yes, a rare stroke of luck indeed... One that I don't take for granted. Also, just as a personal thing, I'm glad that she doesn't hate or love thrash metal, but can get into it.

But when it comes to the internet...
"Wait, whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa hold on, what are you writing? ... You'd better not be giving anyone personal information!"
I never do, but she's paranoid about the 'net (good luck doesn't run through everything)
