Azzo snarled, much like his middle name he was living up to it at the moment. He wanted that pillow, jealous, she wouldn't let go, he'd make her let go.
He tumbled off her and started looking at her almost circling trying to think, he couldn't let her stay here, and he couldn't let her have that pillow. They were his, she got all the power, she was the super hero. "DAMNIT WAKE UP, you get to be the ******** super hero, you get to have all the power, LET ME HAVE ONE JOY IN LIFE!"
Envy didn't suit him well. Not well at all, he was trying to pry it away from her. He'd drag her away from them, he wouldn't let her have them. The jealousy was enough to keep him awake, to keep him from falling asleep despite the drowsy feeling. Normally he was more in control of himself, calm, collective, despite dropping verbal hints or body movements. This was not the time for calm and cool headedness though, it was time to be pigheaded and control the situation despite the want for the pillow, her power, or what the hell ever was driving him.
The senshi had saved him before right? Well he'd do the same for this one, despite the selfishness of the action to keep the pillows away from her, he just had to do it. It was the thought, not the method that counted.
"I wish there was at least something useful around here." He muttered unhappily as he still worked to remove her arms from his pillow. She could sleep for all he cared he was getting them out of here, and his pillows were going to be protected by that strange mushroom patch... he paused, looking at the mushrooms. It wasn't Alice in wonderland but what did the mushrooms do? He looked at the mushrooms, moving away from the pillow, wondering if he could will one of them to turn into something useful, anything at all, water, alarm clock, pepper, instructions, heck for all he cared it could've turned into shaving cream and a feather if he'd wake her up and make her give him the pillow.

Something was irritating him out of the corner of his eye.
When he looked at the mushroom patch now, it seemed -- lumpy; there were mounds there that he hadn't seen before. If he blinked, for a fraction of a second mossy bones poked up out of these mounds -- animal skeletons of all kinds. Hanging from the tree's branches were ribcages and windchimes of tibia and fibia. It was only for a fraction of a second, seeing the blood-fed rich earch and the skeletons all around the mushroom ring, because then it all looked normal again and the birds were singing their hearts out.
Well, singing their hearts out in the branches of all trees but this one. Eos was in a very deep sleep.

Azzo's heart made it's way into this throat. He looked at her and then where the mushrooms were. "No... no..." He said as he tried to wrench the pillow away again, "River..."
The lack of birds and the sight of bones made up his mind. Screw everything else they were getting out of here. Even if he could wrench the pillow away, Density wasn't losing one of it's superheroes this way. He swallowed hard and carefully pried her fingers away hands shaking, trying to get the pillow and throw it away from them, oh how he wanted those pillows, to lay his head down...
No... no, he had to stay jealous of her, the pillow, the power. He had to keep going he couldn't fall victim here. "Someone help!" He cried out, hoping someone, anyone helpful was out there, as he picked her up. It didn't matter anymore if he could get it from her hands or not by now, he was carrying her towards the sound of the water. It had to wake her up? Right... right?
He was shaking, both with fear of death and weariness. He'd wake himself up too, then they'd get out of there. He had to find that water, he just had to. "Please, please if anyone's out there." He called, "We need help, there's something wrong with my friend!" He knew what was wrong with her, he didn't need to know that, he needed to know what to do to fix them, fix them both.
((Hope it's okay to skip Eos since... well shes' asleep. >>;; If not I'll delete?))

"Your friend's going to be eaten by the bone-tree," said a voice.
It was a raven, sitting on a pretty upturned stump a little way away. It didn't look concerned, if birds could look concerned. Its expression was more that of somebody who had caught someone else doing something embarrassing. "You should know better, Azzo Wolf Crowley," it said. "You've done this once before. And now you're back again. You died the last time, too."

Azzo's eyes opened wide at the sound of the voice. Looking around and then up, his heart stopped, it stopped cold.
It knew him. He swallowed. "I've done this once before?" He looked stunned, hurt. He'd let himself die? He frowned, he looked at the girl in his arms. "Died...."
He shook his head like it was surreal, "History changes." Azzo said jaw clinched, eyes set. "How do I wake her?" He asked, looking at the Raven, edging away from the bone tree ever more.
What did the raven mean by again? Why couldn't he remember the first time? What happened last time? What did he do wrong, was being Noble wrong? Was she here? A Million questions were running through his head.

"Well, I'm sure I don't know," said the raven. "Eye for an eye, a leg for a leg. The tree wants your friend. Have you got another friend to give the tree?"
Out of the corner of his eye, Azzo could see the bone-mounds again. Just briefly. The mushrooms were still and bright. "What kind of fool wanders into a fairy ring? That's a question only your friend can answer."

Azzo blinked, did he have another friend? Did he have a puppet with him. He didn't remember bringing a puppet, but he almost always had a puppet. He'd give the puppet for her. "If I had my puppets, I'd give them as many as they wanted. They're my friends as much as anyone else. I'm sure they'd love my princess and her knight."
Azzo looked at the Raven oh how he wished he'd remembered if he had puppets with him. "One that didn't know what it was." Azzo retorted, he was sure he didn't remember being here but he knew something felt wrong with that ring. Mushrooms were always a bad thing, Ravens also were bad, but he didn't mind playing Poe if he had to.
He looked at the Raven, he looked at Eos, only she could answer. He paused, what kind of a fool... "Greedy..." He mumbled under his breath, "Curious..." He was digging for something, answers? Maybe.

"Yes, yes," said the raven. "All of those things. You can't eat a puppet, Azzo, or you'd be fed for life." There was a nasty cawing that might have been laughter. "Have you seen in your travels anything the tree would want to eat? Any meat, food, wine? Or maybe you should just go on and leave her here."
The bird had very beady eyes. "It's not safe for the blind," it said.

Had Azzo seen any meat? Azzo's grin grew crooked, "I've seen meat. Though I don't think the tree would want a smart mouthed rabbit for it's meal."
He paused as the rabbit's head poked out from behind a tree. He then continued after watching the rabbit, "Then again, if no else sees it but me, the only other meat I recall seeing." He looked up at the bird, "Is you."
Giving a thought to this, which didn't seem like the right answer anyways, they'd probably need the bird "However, I'd very much not like to give you to the tree. Considering you know things I don't, and you know me. Which gives me warrant enough to not use you as a bartering chip. Though don't think that means I'll forget what you said earlier."
The rabbit was inching it's way out it wanted to mock Azzo however at the point in which Azzo's seriousness had came it wasn't sure if it should. He looked up at the raven, hoping only Azzo could indeed see it.
"You wouldn't want to get rid of me!" He said in a pitiful voice. The rabbit tried to sweet talk, "You should've listened, a stick would've meant less hassle!" The rabbit grinned coyly only causing Azzo to narrow his eyes. It stood and watched Azzo, ready to disappear from sight should the boy go hostile on it.
Azzo shook his head disdainfully, thinking what had he passed, hadn't there been some bushes somewhere? Hadn't he seen something with wild berries? Wasn't there always fruit baring trees and bushes in forests. "If there's been wine I've not seen it. Though, I don't remember, but I've might've passed some bushes with fruit on it." He paused looking around, which way had he come from?
"Ugh this place is a maze though, I'd never find it again." Then again all forests were mazes.
He paused, not safe for the blind Azzo's eyes took on a quizzical look. "The blind? As in blind to fairies or blind to something more?" Wasn't there something about Fairy circles, something you had to do? He frowned, this is was he got for studying grim tales over other folklore. "If you help me, and help her, I'll repay you with something good, but you have to promise to help us all the way. If you want to play sphinx the whole time doing it, I don't care, just as long as you help us." He reached his hand up to his pocket, almost as if on cue, to double check the hypnotism rock his grandfather had gave him was still there. It was always with him, so why wouldn't it be, on a silver chain, birds like things that were shiny... Right?
He still couldn't help but wonder how he'd been here before without remembering it. Still he'd cross that bridge when he came to it, now wasn't that bridge.

The raven was looking at the rabbit. The rabbit was looking at the raven. Both beheld each other.
"Oh no, oh no," said the rabbit, starting to look more distressed. Its voice devolved further into the unhappy woe that Azzo had heard earlier. "Not me. My name is Mr. Mittens and I have sixty-three children."
The raven kept on looking.
"You've got to believe me," it said. Its fur was velvet fur, its nose black, its ears silken. It was the living equivalent of the Velveteen Bunny. It looked poised for flight now. For a moment out of the corners of Azzo's eyes with the bones and the tree the rabbit looked -- thinner, red-toothed, but that was only for a second. "I've lived here all my life with my dear little wife Flopsy."

Azzo looked and when he realized the bird saw the rabbit, he grinned. Listening to the sad tale the rabbit tried to spin. "Then the forest won't miss one," Azzo replied.
He would have to be careful, maybe grabbing a stick to bludgeon it with. At this point he didn't mind about getting his hands dirty, he had a handkerchief.

The rabbit dodged and started running. So the chase was on, the wolf vrs the rabbit, Azzo wasn't going to let him get far. Over his dead body would the rabbit get away.
As he ran after the rabbit he was occasionally watching for a large stick something big enough to knock the rabbit out. Possibly kill it, painlessly of course he wasn't a savage.

No wonder he never took up baseball or golf, he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. "STOP MOVING! You're only going to make it worse." They ran around the tree, the clearing and Azzo slid to a stop at nine when it came to going around the tree. He wasn't sure but something about ten seemed to be, not a good idea, why was keeping count when he should be focusing on the rabbit was beyond him.
He darted the opposite way and swung at the rabbit again when their paths crossed.

((He's pretty persistent isn't he?))
Azzo wasn't planning on giving up this chase so easily. The thing provoked him, it was it's fault after all. Mr. Mittens should've not done that.

Azzo probably needed to rethink this, the only time he got close was the first lunge, the others, well not so lucky.
He growled, there had to be a way to trick the rabbit, they were playing cat and mouse, he was avoiding going around the tree again, running the other way anytime he came close to halfway.
Stupid rabbits where always faster.
