"Probably" Mercy agreed "I arrived just before the hatching so they just sort of stuck me somewhere" She laughed "I never thought about moving, but it would be nice to have someone nearby to talk with from time to time" she admitted "You know on those rare occasions we have time to do anything anyways" She didn't think she'd mind the Flit's trilling, it was probably like snoring - you got used to it after a while right? At least the trilling was a bit more musical sounding.
"Ugh...yeah I've been in the kitchens once or twice, its not fun at all. The healers not to bad, mostly I just end up keeping things clean or changing sheets and the like. Which is fine, certainly better then peeling tubers" She agreed. "Never gotten glow changing or sweeping yet though - I'm sure I will eventually, they seem to like keeping us moving. Like they think thats a good way to keep us out of trouble or something" She chuckled.
She hadn't met Ralae but it was pretty nifty that Wykla knew someone that had impressed. "Have you talked to her since she impressed?" Rather curious about how things were for the newly impressed.

Wykla nods knowingly. "It does get crazy right before a hatching. Candidates, guests, dragonriders and dragons going everywhere." She giggles. "I wouldn't mind if you wanted to move into a bunk next to me. I could help you too, if you wanted." She sounds almost shy about the offer.
She makes a face at the mention of kitchens. "They don't like it when I get assigned. I can't cook to save my life. Even think I burn the water." A sheepish look crosses her face, "maybe only a little bit.... they think an idle body and hands makes for mischief. I can't imagine why." Wykla gives Mercy an innocent smile.
"Nah, Ralae's been pretty busy since the hatching and I haven't. I know she'll come around when she's got a spare moment."

"Thats a shame" Mercy replied as Wykla said her friend hadn't been around since she impressed, it would have been nice to hear the girls thoughts on things. "but understandable and your right - I'm sure she'll come to visit you once she's got the chance" She agreed.
"My mother tried to teach me to cook back home - but I never really caught on to it either. Seemed a bit dull, she always fussed about how I'd never make a proper wife for someone in the hold..but looks like I escaped that fate thankfully" She stated with a laugh. What a boring life that would have been. "But I think I will move my cot - I doubt anyone in charge would notice..or care overly much"

"Not really. Well I mean it is, but she's more important things to take care of. Like her dragon. I remember how much work Boreal was when he hatched. And a dragon is just so much bigger. Luckily she's got Cheer to help." Wykla smiles and pats Boreal on the head, causing the flit to hum contentedly. "I'm sure she will."
She looks warily at the other girl for a moment. "I never knew my mother. I'd never want to live at a hold." Wykla seems certain with childish determination. After a moment she relaxes again. "That'd be great." She chuckles with a grin, "Oh, they might notice, esply the candidate master, but I don't see any reason why they would object. If you want I can help you this evening. After chores and before dinner. I'm cleaning the tables and it shouldn't take too long."

"Truth" Mercy agreed - and certainly the girl couldn't neglect her dragon, not after being lucky enough to impress in the first place. Mercy could't even imagine what it would be like to ave that type of a connection with another living creature - but she wanted to, or at least hoped she would someday.
"I don't blame you" Mercy told her with a small shake of her head "Sometimes it's not so bad...but mostly your just expected to follow what everyone in your family wants you to do rather then what you want. I like it here allot more, you have choices here" Not that she hated her family or anything but the Weyr was relatively freeing to her way of thinking - despite the hard work. "That sounds like a good plan to me..and speaking of chores, its probably getting close to that time" She remarked with a glance at the sun to gauge the time of day.

Wykla smiles. "Boreal and I will be waiting here for her when she has a chance to stop by."
She tilts her head. "We're kinda expected to still follow orders here. They're just a little more lax about it. Mostly its just chores and helping around." She gives a giggle behind her hand. "Can you imagine them giving orders like, 'You Impress a brown.' or "You Impress a green.' " Her murth at that thought causes her to rock back and forth; as if a dragon would listen to an order like that.
Boreal squeaks and digs his claws into his mistress' shirt as her rocking nearly unsettles him.
"Ah." Wykla joins the other girl in looking at the sky. "Suppose so." She sighs and gets to her feet, gathering up towel and oil. "I'll see ya after chores then." She gives a quick wave.

Mercy nodded slightly in agreement with the other girls statements, laughing along with her at the thought of ordering a rider to impress a certain color. She as pretty sure the dragons would send that rule to the firepits really quick. still it was an amusing thought and regardless of the hard work and helping out she still felt like she had more options here then she had at home. But maybe that was just her joy at being away from the hold speaking.
"After chores!" She promised with a wave of her own before jogging off in an effort to not be late.
