Solo - 01.10.11 // House Hunting for Dummies
With Christmas and New Years gone he was itching to get his housing situation settled. The real estate agent had been surprisingly helpful once he’d returned home and he’d been given a list of a few apartments and one condo that were in his budget. He’d taken Cordy with him to look at the places so he’d have some sort of second opinion. He’d even taken his camera so he could document the various apartments and go over the albums later to see which one he liked best. It wasn’t as easy as he’d hoped but thankfully it wasn’t as hard as he’d feared either. With the agent doing most of the work all he really had to do was decide which place he liked best. In the end it looked like it was going to come down to layout and proximity to the school.
After visiting all the places he’d gone home and printed out the pictures of his choices and spread them out on the floor in groups. He’d gotten a good range of views and with a little bit of shuffling almost had a full layout of each apartment for his viewing pleasure. Cordy had given him some good suggestions on the spaces but he wasn’t sure he wanted the same thing out of them that she would have. Different needs and way different tastes made it hard to get help choosing somewhere you’d be living for the next half a year at least.
The large open floorplan apartment had looked nice. Everything was clean lines and it was close to school. He just wasn’t sure what he’d –do- with all that open space. It wasn’t like he’d be entertaining or holding parties which was what he figured people usually did when they had that sort of space available. He really liked the kitchen in the apartment closest to the Carden’s home but everything else was closed off and almost gloomy. The condo and the apartment between the school and the Carden’s house were his favorite. The condo seemed nice because it had two floors so he could easily hide things from guests by not letting them upstairs. The apartment was nice because it was the lowest priced one and had a huge bedroom (though the other rooms were lacking a bit). The condo also came with appliances including a washer and dryer so he wouldn’t have to worry about adding that into his budget. Everything was up to date and energy efficient too which would have made his mother happy.
After hours of poking through pictures and thinking up possibilities and asking his cousin for her opinion he decided he would take another look at the condo. It was the second most expensive of the places but it seemed to be the one that had everything he wanted and needed. It also had a rent to own option that he could hop into if/when ever he wanted.
He’d called the agent that afternoon to set up another walkthrough for later in the week.
