Not really, the entirety of the Zurian population's been booted off their homeworlds, and they showed up in Luthien, and assumed orbital positons, really minding their own buisness, and if anything doing a general reorganization of the fleet, so there was a lot of ships moving around. And there are far more destroyers and the like

But when every ship looks like a military vessel, including the Colony Ships/Carriers, Luthien Aerospace Defense Command sweated bullets, launched their frigates and fighters, and shot at the Zurians. At the colony ships specifically, since they were a bit out of the way.

And when you're short a homeworld... People shooting at your colony ships would make you angry. Very angry. So the entirety of the Zurian fleet returned fire and obliterated the fighters and frigates, and putting the planet into a 'lock-down,' where troop carriers, manuvered into position above the planet's major cities, star port, slaughtered the orbital docks and Orbital Elevator, which is a giant elevator, from the surface to orbit...

And landed the marines, and ODTs, and other general badass infantry, instituted Martial Law, and other then no one allow to do anything after sun down, under pain of being shot by a gellatin round, and put in hand-cuff made for Zurians, and left in the middle of town.

I dont remember readin that in the intro o_O

Outside the port hole, ships drifted in and out of the docking bays in the soundless vaccum of space, their bright exaughst casting light back into the smoky air of the spaceport bar. Urai was finishing the last of the CCA approved swill that passed for ale around this place as another shuttle departed. There has to be more than a hundred shuttles a day leaving this place and I can't even get on one. The cup came down hard, its plain surface showing signs of stress from the ill-treatment it suffered regularly from the bar's patrons, no less then from Urai. He pined his time away in this sorry place while out there, in space somewhere, his family might be suffering. And Urai had no idea what to do...

Marnus Clag watched from the bridge of the Lusitan Conquer Battle Barge. His fighters were in the midst of practice, there were two teams made and the object was to use computer guided systmes to destroy the other. Obviuosly, he did not use live rounds. Instead, the combuters used "false" computer created weaponry that would act like the real deal. The battle ws evenly matched, as he watched Alpha Team's Leader Air COmmander Garn Les, had shot down six aircraft of the aircraft on team Beta's side, but the loss caused by Beta Team's commander and head of Air Forces Air Lord Als Nex was equal. Marnus turned away from the battle, reluctantly as he was enjoying it thouroghly, and walked over to his navigator. "Sir" the navigator said "We've entered CCA territory and are nearing the capital planet."
"Fine" replied Marnus, "maybe we can get some work from them"

A member of the CCA's hiring committee approached Urai from behind, and cleared his throat. "Your name is Urai, right? I wasn't in on the hiring committee's board for your presentation, but I did hear about it, and regardless of who anyone else says, I'll authorize your hiring. You know what they want, except I'll provide you with a stealth corvette, which means you should be able to touch down by all rights. You know the pay. Are you willing to accept it?"

**************

When Clag's ship entered CCAAF controlled space, a quartet of frigates jumped in to position in front of his ship. "This is the CCAAF frigate Knife Edge, identify yourselves."

**************

Asrael Saidrian commander of the Thirteenth Orbital Drop Troopers, paced the quaters of the admiral, someone he had known for a long time.
"Well Kanrei, what can I say? The people are getting restless, we can tell that much, as we've been getting shot at and returning the favor. I don't think they appreciate us anymore."

The admiral smilied. "Asrael, they never liked us, we're like the bad men on the block. If I didn't know better, I'd say they're waiting for help."

"Force Master Marnus Clag, of the 901st Free Lance Mercenary Army. I am seeking work. If you have any I will gladly take it, for pay, of course." he said irritated. He was ready to give the order to fire at the ships and THEN ask for work but he thought better of it. "MO, call back all fighters and set us to CODE: RED He didn't trust any one until they'd left, he'd left, or he had a job, or ,of course, his preferred dead but he coudnn't kill them unless they attakced and that didn't seem likely. He knew all about their war and it would take quiet a few of those little frigates to damage his Conquerer Battle Barge, and dozens to destroy it, and plenty would be destroyed in the attempted and they didn't have that kind of resources, but just in case.

"Roger that Force Master Clag, if you'll procede to Orbital Dock 18, they'll be glad to help. If anything, I don't the CCAAF wants us to bleed first. But you didn't hear that from me." The leader of the frigates snapped the communication suite off, and the frigates moved on with their patrol.

*************

Asrael found himself ground-side, yet again. Patroling yet another street. Which was overall, boring. His squad was dispersed around him, and people shied away from the black armored soldiers who walked down the side walk like everyone else, and obeyed traffic laws like everyone else, and only really did things the police did and then some.

Today was to be different, however. First off, the first thing that went wroing was the dropship had a flight controller failure. That was annoying as they had to wait a good fifteen minutes for that to clear up. Second thing that went wrong was that when the dropship was hovering over the field HQ, somebody's hardcopy map got blown away and sucked into one of the turbines. Third thing went wrong as that as soon as Asrael walked into the armory to grab riot dispersion rounds, he found that the last patrol burned through ALL of them, which was a good 4000 rounds and some change.

Yeah, well what else could go wrong. That last bit Asrael groaned at when he was back at the carrier, cleaning himself, since it had been blistering hot that day, and even his jumpsuit couldn't keep him cool. Which was annoying.

What had happened in the end was that someone took a potshot at his squad, nailing the support trooper, who dropped his 40mm assault cannon, which was something generally used for anti-light vehicle and power armor infantry, since he was pegged in the arm, and the energy weapon had burned through his armor and trashed his arm. Normally, the assault cannons turn their own safety on if they're dropped, but this one didn't. So, the forty milimeter rounds went off in the gun, which shouldn'tve discharged and sprayed a crowd.

Now Asrael had seen plenty of death, but that was out to deal death kind of death, where the other being knew it was kill or be killed. This wasn't that. It was a massacre, pure and simple. Asrael shuddered at the sight. Obviously just about every squad of infantry showed up, becasue a 40mm assault cannon going off was bad news. They did what the could for the wounded, which wasn't much, considering it was an armor-piercing high-velocity round.

Now if anything, the populace was going to become that much harder to control, and if they had aid of the military sort, to put it lightly, they were deep in a Mayaar's spawning pool.

The half-startled Urai looked over his shoulder at the official before finishing his drink and getting up. Pay wasn't what he was interested in, but the stealth corvette was a definate boon.
"Just tell me when and where, Mr...ah...." Urai left the sentence hanging for the other man to finish.

"Fine" snapped Clag "you heard the man, pull us in" he spoke commandingly and assertivally. "Yes sir" the pilot replied in a nimble and smart manner. They docked and Marnus left the ship in the hands of its captain. He then proceeded to the docking port, with a squad of his ground troops. His elites may be needed on board. He opened the space lock and stepped out of the ship into the bay. The lock closed as the last of his men stepped out. "Make sure your weapons are loaded, just incase." He didn't know whether they were trust worthy so he thought it better to be on the safe side. He stood outside the ship waiting for an escort, it was customary, he'd had dealings with these people before, a long time ago. It ended poorly, for them as they betrayed him and the force he was protecting was abandoned, after his pay was dcreased by a considerable sum. He wasn't greedy but his army had needs such as weapon, armour and ship repairs. His men needed pay, ammo and supplies. And when something dosn't cover the whole cost, 's not worth it. So he'd come into the habit of having them pay for it all, then an extra pay for upgrades. Most places take this as it tends to be quiet cheaper by several billion. He'd make this blatantly clear so he got his preferred.

"Because I don't want the hiring committee to find out it was me who put you on our payroll, don't worry about it. In anycase, what I would like you to do is capture one of the invaders. It shouldn't be too hard for someone of your... Talents. Here's something a bit upfront." With that, the man took out a credit card sized piece of plastic, which said that it was a charge card with money already stored on it. "I'm sure that would be more then enough for you to agree with my assignment for you?"

***************

Two soldiers in power amor of the one-man-army sort, showed up behind Clag, from another passage way. "Sorry sir, leave your men behind. If you would please follow us." One of them spoke through the external vocalizers, and the heavy laser mounted in the arm gestured to Marnus's infantry. With that, one of them spun on a powered hydralic leg, and started down another corridor, which revealed a number of tech working on a strange looking corvette, painted entirely in black, and for some reason, seemed to have blended into the dock bay.

Urai glanced at the charge card, hiding the rush of elation behind a facade of indifference. He pocketed the generous offering.
"One alien invader coming right up." Urai said enthusiastically. In truth, this was going to be a very difficult mission, but he would deal with it as it came. The time for planning was int he confines of the ship as it sped towards his destiation.
Because the man had not sat down, Urai assumed this was a private and breif interview, both men knowing only as much as they needed to about the other to accomplish their goals.
"One last question, where do I bring it once I am done the mission? I am guessing you have a private facility so as not to attract attention, eh?
PostPosted: Mon Jan 30, 2006 6:45 am

"Bring it here, as we'll have the containment facilities set-up, and the corvette, has one as well. Oh, and one more thing, to expediate your movements..." The man took out a folder and flapped it on the table. "There's your temporary CCAAF registration as a Captain. That'll give you access to whatever you need. Excessive, yes, I understand that, but, given the circumstances, it's acceptable."
