Well, I play baritone, so I would say practice your buzzing if you are used to flute. I wish I could switch to trumpet.

I know that exercise surprised Or instructors started us on it a few weeks ago, and it is quite helpful for air and as a warmup! Um, biggest fear is of sitting down after doing it and getting a heart attack x_ x I hope our instructor wasn't lying about that...
Yea, after a lot of self teaching and trying out different things, I figured dropping your jaw is very helpful o- o Just have to make sure all my air doesn't just disappear within a second. And pulling away from being so close to your mouthpiece helps alot too xu x
Thanks for your help! Haha, you shouldn't have a heart attack sitting down after that exercise; the worst I've felt is just a little dizzy. We're not allowed to sit down though ... our BD makes all of us sousaphones stand up the whole time unless he's working individually with a section. D:
Yeah, at first I would try to take a breath being too close to my mouthpiece, or I would breath in through my nose (doesn't work too well with playing tuba ...). But those low notes are difficult to sustain and there's nothing much you can do about it except for lots of practicing. :]

Oh... good biggrin Now I don't have to be in fear anymore Your band is lucky if you ever get to sit :] We aren't allowed to sit because if we do we'll probably start talking and not be attentive anymore :d At must we can only go to rest position when our BD is working with the other sections ~_ ~
Haha, I used to do the same thing :> And I guess no matter what, practicing is the best way to get better biggrin Thanks so much for your help C:

@ T3h L33tMast3r ;; Haha, yeah, but usually sitting is only permitted during music rehearsals. There have been a few occasions where we get to sit down during practice though, because we had one chart that the woodwinds and high brass were messing up, so he told the low brass to sit so he could focus on them. It was the best day. =P
You're very welcome. :] With enough practice you'll be a fabulous tuba play in no time~
