The door had faded into the walls the moment Eight attempted to leave. Even the windows had disappeared, and the shop front was engulfed in darkness.
A small point of light sparked at the very center of the room where the cloaked figure was suddenly poised. There was a certain degree of malice in its aura, but it was not directed to the child or the current guardian.
"The time is at hand." it rasped. It was tired and weary, but there was a hint of danger in its voice. "You are here to locate your sister. Before you will be reunited, you must first learn of your duties."
Ayden would be able to understand the figure perfectly. Eight, however, will only hear little more than gurgles and throaty snarls.********** The doorway Dragain and Elana had entered led them to an ethereal but well-lit location. Wisps and puffs of light danced and frolicked in the expanse. A solitary figure dressed in a white cloak motioned them to advance.
"The time is nigh." it boomed. While loud and commanding, it wasn't deafening or threatening. "You have come to be together with your brother. But before that will happen, you must first learn of your duties."
Elana would have no trouble understanding the figure's words and what it meant. Dragain, however, would only be able to make out a beautiful melody that had no words.

Elana blinked, she slowly let out a soft blabber as she looked at the figure in white. However, she did not understand what that figure means. What are the 'duties', and why won't this person allow her to meet her twin? Whining, she tugged Dragain, and urged her to go forward.
"Oh?" Dragain looked at Elana, and looked at the figure in front. Such a beautiful melody, but where was it coming from? Could it have come from the figure? Dragain wasn't sure, and as she walked towards the cloaked figure, she wondered if this is even the stationery store in Barton.
"Wa?" Elana asked, anxious to meet her brother, yet curious about the 'duties' this figure speak off. Dragain is now standing at an arm's length in front of the figure, and Elana tilted her head to one side while trying to make sence of it all.

Ayden blinked, along with Eight, at the sight of the door and windows disappearing. The half demon's headwing twitched when all went dark, her eyes narrowing a little in confusion. What just happened? Ayden squirmed around in the girl's arms, trying to make Eight turn around so he could see what was going on! All of a sudden a light sparked, and Eight jumped, spinning around on her heel to see who was there...it was still the cloaked figure from before. What was it saying? Eight made a face at all the horrible noises it was making, what in the world was it?
Contrast to Eight, Ayden could understand every word this thing was saying, and he was actually excited for the first time tonight. His sister? Yes! They would be together again after all! The boy wriggled around in this damn woman's arms, wanting to free himself for her hold and get closer to the figure to find out what these so-called duties were. What were they?! On with it! Ayden had to know!

The cloaked figures began to speak in unison, and both Tales would hear two distinctly differrent voices.
"You are different from those who emerged before you, and those who will emerge after you. You have been written not by hands outside of the Tome, but by those who are trapped within the Tome and the Study. You were written to save us.
"Those who came before you exists to gather essences, they are not aware of their duties. But you two are, for you two hold the key in freeing those who have been sealed away. Unlike those who came before you and those who will come after you, you are not to gather essences. Instead, you two are to draw the collected essences from them.
"They may not understand, and you are not to tell them until the time is right. You must hurry, time is running out."
Upon finishing, a blinding light flashed before Eight and Ayden, while a thick darkness fell upon Dragain and Elana. When both pairs will regain their sight, they will find themselves staring face to face with each other outside the Stationery Store.

Dragain closed her eyes and held Elana close to her as the darkness surrounded them in a blanket. Resisting the strong urge to yell out, she could feel Elana's small hands clinging to her neck. Smelling fresh air, she opened her eyes slowly, and saw a woman right in front of her where the white figure had been.
The woman don't look human, but Dragain wasn't surprised. When you live in Gaia long enough, she get to meet all sorts of people from different places and even dimensions that she had never heard of. However, what had surprised her was the boy in the woman's arms - White hair, black skin, demonic wings - it almost looks like Elana's twin. A smile appeared on Dragain's pale lips, and she held Elana in such a way that the girl is facing both the woman and child.
"Elana, is that... Your twin by any chance?"
Immediately, Elana's eyes widened to the size of plates. Her fears has evaporated, and was quickly replaced by excitement. Her eyes were shining with happiness as she struggled to break free from Dragain's grip, and her ams were out stretched towards the male. It was obvious what the answer to Dragain's question was.
For a moment, she had forgotten about the voices, but as she glanced at the Stationery Store to her side, her smile faltered. She remembered what they had told her, and she had a feeling her twin went through the same experience.

Alright! This was getting too weird for Eight's tastes! The half demon gasped and quickly closed her eyes a moment too late to prevent herself from being temporarily blind. "That hurt!" She winced, putting her hand over her eyes to rub at them a little, completely unaware of the woman standing before her. "Just who do you think--" She'd opened her eyes to yell at the cloaked figure that'd blinded her, but instead a woman was standing in its place. "You...are..." Eight blinked a few times to clear her vision of the spots, making absolutely sure that what was in front of her was real. Wait...why was it so dark now? The girl took a step back and looked around, seeing Barton's fountain...and other buildings, and feeling the cool breeze of the night blowing against her. How'd they get outside?
Ayden's sight had also been blinded by the light, but he'd listened to every word the mysterious person had said. Draw the collected essences? What was an essence? He had no idea...but he didn't really care about these stupid duties right now! The most important thing was to find his twin! Ayden knew he was different, but so what? Where was she?!
When his sight returned he was met with a most pleasing greeting, his pale eyes widened the same size as Elana's, and he gasped. It was her! His sister! She was here! Right in front of him! Squirming desperately in Eight's arms, Ayden reached for Elana with both arms, flailing them around.
Eight blinked and stared down at Ayden, looking from him to whatever he was reaching for and smiling; so this was her? She was exactly like Ayden had helped her figure out! "So this is her? Great! I guess it was easier than I thought it'd be." She chirped, her tail fluffing up for a moment, she was still trying to get over that odd experience with the cloaked stranger. Her headwings folded back behind her head and she looked around again for any sign of him again. Yes, it was quite clear that she wasn't human.
Ayden was still stretching in Eight's grasp to try and grab at least one of Elana's outstretched hands, making grabby hands for his sister. Eight rolled her eyes and took a step closer to the other woman and the boy's sister, making his task easier on him.

Dragain smiled a little, still suffering from the after effects of shock. Nodding briefly, she walked one step forward too, holding Elana out carefully so that the twins can finally be reunited after one long night apart.
"Hello..." Dragain started, her voice had a hint of uncertainty to it as she continued, "I'm Dragain, and you are?" She smiled as Elana grabbed hold of her brother's hands in her own, and turned her attention back to the woman standing in front.
"Why not we talk on the way back to my place? I'm sure we have a lot to share... Especially about the twins." Dragain suggested, a twinkle in her eyes as she winked.
Elana smiled again, beaming happily as she blabbered out some words that cannot be understood. What can be understood, however, is Elana's joy at finding her counterpart. She was trying to forget about her 'duties', and although it was almost working, the voice of the cloaked figure tugged at the back of her mind, reminding her of its words whenever she tries to push it away.

Heart sat in the tv room of her apartment staring at the little boy in her arms. She didn't have much of a clue about him just what a strange black cloaked figure had told her only a few hours ago. From what she knew the boy had been sent to a woman named Eight but that she was the one meant to have it. It all seemed to confuse her but she knew this was right. The cloaked figure had told her where to find Dragain so they could further discuss things and Heart was right on it. Once she had her actions planned she stood up from the couch and ran through the alleys of the town following the directions she had written down on a small piece of paper clutched tightly in the fist that did not hold Ayden.
Heart saw a woman walking in the alleyway holding a baby, she quickly assumed that it must be them. "Dragain?" she questioned her voice seemed to echo slightly on the almost empty street.
Ayden looked up from Heart's shoulder which he had been resting on when he heard her speak for the 2nd time since the shadow had delivered him to her. She didn't do much talking he noticed, much different from the last woman he had been with. He turned his head around uncomfortably and saw his sister. He smiled and reached out his hands.
With the assurance that this was Dragain from Ayden reaching out his hands, Heart continued down the street quickly until she had caught up fully with Dragain and the baby she held.

Dragain turned around, and saw a female approaching her. She was wondering how the stranger know her name, when she saw the child in her arms. Smiling as she recognised him, Dragain replied, "You must be taking care of Elana's twin, right?" Intially, she had been afraid when the shadow took him away, causing Elana to cry.
"Yes, I'm Dragain," The female confirmed with a grin, "May I know your name? And the name you gave to the child?" She motioned towards Elana's twin with a brief nod.
Elana waved to her twin in delight. No way was that shadow thing seperating them ever again, if she had anything to do with it. That had been the second time. She extended her arms too, trying to reach her brother, not letting him go again. She was also trying to decrease the distance between them.

Heart nodded her head slowly and smiled, "It's nice to meet you Dragain, I'm Heart. This is Ayden." Heart said before allowing Ayden to get closer to Elana cautiously because she didn't know how they would react together. "What about the child you have? What is her name?" Heart asked her.
Ayden ignored the chatter that they spoke and waved back to Elana. He bounced slightly on the hip that he was being half balanced on and looked at Heart impatiently. He reached out his hands as far as he could leaning practically his entire body over Heart's folded arms until she had gotten the point obviously and moved closer.

Dragain smiled, "Her name in Elana." She nodded at Heart, and motioned her towards a bench beside the street they were standing on. She sat down, placing Elana beside her, "Let the twins be with themselves... I'm sure they have a lot to share." Pausing, she smiled, "And I have some things to share too."
Elana stayed close to Dragain, but her arms were still extended towards Ayden with longing. After hearing Dragain's words, her eyes lit up with delight as she waited for her brother to be brought closer to her.

Heart set Ayden carefully down on the chair next to Elana and then sat down beside him. Heart nodded her head to the suggestion that they let the twins to themselves. Heart stroked Ayden's fine white hair once to let him know that she was still there and then stopped so she could talk with Dragain. "What is is that you would like to share?" Heart asked her, with a strong curiousity grabbing hold of her.
Ayden fluttered his black bat-like wings happily as Heart sat him down on the bench and he smiled as he looked at his twin. "Elana, finally!" He said in a language that only he and Elana would be able to understand, "I tried to give the ladies as much hints as I could but they can't understand us."

Dragain smiled as Elana cuddled her brother happily, and looked at Heart. A hand reached down to pick up Elana's tome, and she replied as she held out the book, "Does Ayden have a tome as well? And I was trying to figure out what had happened, and who Ayden and Elana are."
Elana nodded and hugged Ayden, her eyes shining with happiness, "Yeah, she just stared at me... I was so worried I wouldn't see you again!" She smiled at this, and continued, "What had happened back there?" She said "there" in a weird soft voice, as if she was feeling nervous and afraid.

Heart nodded her head, "So that's what that strange book is. Yes, it's back at my apartment, I found it hard to carry the boy and the book at the same time so I figured it best for me to leave it there so I could hurry up over to here. I'm not very sure about any of this stuff. I don't know who they are or how he came into my keeping, or why I was even chosen to keep him." Heart spoke softly.
Ayden nodded his head, "Me too I had hoped we would though and we did!" Ayden spoke, "You saw the shadowed figure too then? I wasn't sure if it had only come to me, what did it say to you? It spoke to me of the Tome and saving "us" and a key of somesort, you think we have the key Elana?" Ayden asked as he searched through his blood red cloths for a key but he did not find one.

"Yeah..." Dargain smiled, "It's called a tome, but I'm not very sure on its uses. Somehow, I think that it's an important object to them."
She paused, and thought for a moment before speaking again, "Well, I don't know why they were sent to us to be cared for, but I'm sure they have a purpose... Only those cloaked, shadow figures know, I guess." She gave a sigh.
Elana shook her head sadly, "No key here either..." She patted her clothes, and shook her head again. She looked at Dragain for a moment, and turned back to Ayden, "Who are these women? Why are they taking care of us?"
