XxChris43xX Capoeira is the chiznit, it's what breakdancing is based on, yo!!! Breakdancing was not based on capoeira, there was no way we could have known about that. We are countries apart from Brazil. Breakdancing was based on the earlier american styles of dancing, it's just different people added different styles to it.

Capoeira is very cool, but I can't find a good club anywhere. We had an exchange student from Brazil that taught some to me, but nothing to advanced.

There is such a thing as immigrants, and Brazilian immigrants that knew capoeira inluenced breakdancing. I have done some research and it was black slaves that were brought to brazil that formed the martial arts called capoeira. So it is natural that some of those moves may have influenced moves such as these... Crazy a** breakdancing based on capoeira...Now, tell me that capoeira had no inluence to the beginnings of breakdancing...

Crazy a** breakdancing based on capoeira...Now, tell me that capoeira had no inluence to the beginnings of breakdancing... I know what immigrants are, but how many Brazilians do you think there were in the Bronx during the 70's? B-boying was formed from earlier styles like I said. Think James Brown and jitterbuging. Now capoeira may have influenced the later forms of the dance style such as the power moves like the spins you're probably comparing it with. But as a whole b-boying would have existed even if capoeira did not and the same for capoeira with b-boying.For example popping and locking was formed by West coast breakers, not because they learned Capoeira but because they wanted to prove themselves to the New Yorkers where breaking originated. So to say that the entire culture is based off the martial arts is unfounded. Yes I agree that some moves could have been copied from the form, that the whole thing being based is kinda crazy.
