"I had breakfast," the green haired teen answered automatically, sounding indignant. What did it matter when the last time he'd eaten had been? It wasn't like he was anorexic or dieting or something equally girly. Plus he was eating right now. Candy wasn't exactly the healthiest food on the planet but at least it was something. Besides, eating multiple colours of liquorice candy was basically like eating more than one food group, wasn't it?

Ah, so she had met them both. Good. Johnny didn't want to be responsible for informing the entire senshi community that Dylan Rasmussen was the Black Earth Prince. Hector would never let him live it down. Jada's new name for the Dark Kingdom was stored away for further use as he nodded along with what she had to say. "They never really show up when the fight is going on it seems. They're always there after the fact. I'm surprised one of them hasn't killed a senshi yet." Guns and magical school girls didn't mix well. They were lucky nobody had been badly injured.

Johnny swallowed at her invitation, feeling the back of his neck start to burn. "D-dinner? Ah… yeah. Sure." He said it like he was agreeing to some unknown prospect. "What great dessert shoppes are we talking about?"

"You had breakfast." the heiress mocked his tone, a smile playing faintly on her lips. "That was hours ago, and since that time you have not only gotten in a fight with an acid-spitting worm, but you have run from the fine law officers of our fair city. Normally I'd say that sugar is fine, but right now you need something more sustaining." Jada had made up her mind that this John King was one of hers, and as such? She got to mother. And meddle. She did so like to meddle. It was one of those things that Jada used to make herself feel good.

Jada reached out with one pale hand and deftly lifted the jar of candy from his lap, setting it to the side without asking for his permission. It did require her to tug harder than she'd expected (he was clutching it between his thighs like it was a life raft.) She thought for a moment that he would fight, but frankly it was a surprise attack, even though she did have to double-check herself. The candy set aside, she took one of his hands in hers and tugged him lightly. "Come on, Mr. King." she told him. "Time to make sure you get food in your tummy." she tugged his hand again, insistently.

She didn't want to think about someone killing one of her allies. She didn't want to think about how foolish the people were. How uneducated she herself had been about what the senshi were before she'd found out that she, too, was one. So she avoided the comment. Didn't think about it. Banished it from her mind. Thinking about... god, if someone hurt Elke, her Virgo. If someone hurt Castor, or Europa. Or any of the other senshi that she had met. No. Banished from her mind.

It was normal for her to be 'touchy-feely'. Thoughts of people she cared for dying and her still being so helpless to defend them... just defending them from the very people they were protecting? She didn't think anything about the fact that she was being so informal with someone who she had just met. After all, as she had told Johnny, they had shed blood together. He was an ally, at least for the moment. After all, she didn't want to admit. She needed the comfort of someone's hand in her own.

"Well, there is Chocolate Compositions, a little thing that makes some of the best chocolates and chocolate cakes I have ever had the misfortune of finding. The Cheesecake Workshop makes custom cheesecakes, pretty much. You choose the type of crust, filling, the toppings and they make you like your own mini cheesecake. Oh, and the Pastry Parlor." she nodded at him, almost beaming. A few more restaurants were named. "But those are just dessert shoppes. I'm at least getting a hamburger in you first."

He was being mocked. And mothered. It was not a good day. Johnny pushed his glasses further up on his nose as he scowled. The expression was somewhat ruined by the fact that he was still bright red but that didn't deter him. He'd lived in this dorm room the whole year almost by himself, managing his money and his food. He most certainly didn't need a teenager girl still in high school coming in and telling him that he needed something with more -- hey! She stole his liquorice!

Johnny made a grasping gesture after the jar but the attempt was in vain. Jada knew what she wanted and she clearly wasn't going to take no for an answer. He had very little choice but to allow her to tug him along, certain that she wasn't about to let him go anytime soon. It looked like they were going to dinner no matter what he thought about it. Well, at least there would be cake later.

"I resent that word. Tummy. It's juvenile." It's a weak protest, even for him, but he hasn't jerked his hand away yet and that was something. The most likely reason for that was the fact that she was talking about desserts and he was weighing the pros and cons of each location. Chocolate would be nice. He wasn't a huge fan of the bite sized chocolates but chocolate cake was always a must. Then there was cheesecake (make your own!) and pastries. It would be a tough decision.

But apparently there were burgers first.

"If we're getting burgers then we’re getting milkshakes too." A thought occurred to him suddenly and he asked, "Are we going to have to… walk out of here? No mirrors?"
PostPosted: Fri Jun 04, 2010 8:09 pm

Johnny looked so unhappy with her right now that she almost quailed back and caved, without even a word from him to argue. There was a momentary pause in her dragging him, and she opened her mouth, body tensing as though she were going to let him go; it was a vulnerable, unhappy look. It didn't really belong with the cheerful, bossy girl who had been there since the beginning. Then in a moment it was gone, as though the lights had been turned off and the silhouette of someone else that he'd seen behind her face and eyes was gone. "I have a ten year old brother and two thirteen year old sisters. I'm sorry I use juvenile language." he had spoken and so she replied, her tone businesslike and almost closed off. Her eyes flicked up to his and she gave him a smile. It was the best she had, for a man who was angry at her. It was lackluster.

"If you want a milkshake, then a milkshake you shall have." it made her smile again, a realer smile. She should have known; she had known, on some level, but she still found it oddly adorable. He'd be a terrible friend to diet with, but an amazing one for comfort food at the end of a bad day. "And yes, I was figuring we'd walk out. Why? Is there a problem with that too?"

She hadn't meant to say too. She hadn't... aww, hell. She looked at him with the blank, bland face of someone who hadn't added on a word they didn't mean to say.

Aw hell.

Johnny's nose scrunched a little at Jada's kicked puppy expression, already feeling guilty. Why were girls so good at that? It wasn't like he'd run over her cat with his car or anything. All he'd said was to speak properly! He wasn't a bad guy, honest? Clearing his throat and squaring his shoulders, the green-haired teen replied (conveniently to the wall behind her head), "It's fine. Just make a conscious effort not to do it again." There. Was that a suitable acceptance of her apology? God he hoped so. If she started doing this in public he was going to have to perfect the art of bathroom escapes.

Her question only makes things more difficult. "Yes…. and no." There's an awkward moment of silence where Johnny fiddles with his glasses, still looking anywhere but at Jada. It looked like they were going to have to walk out, in public together, from his dorm room. His stomach churned at the thought and his eyes darted around as he tried to think up some form of escape. His room was too high to escape out of the window, and knowing Jada, she probably would take to the suggestion of appearing in the men's washroom at their restaurant of choice. There was always the back exit, but that would be risky.

"I'll go out first and give you the all clear and then you can come. You're going to go out the door – make sure you pull it shut behind you – and then to your right and down the fire stairs. There's a door at the bottom and you'll go out that. Got it?" It was the best compromise he could offer. He just hoped she would take it.

"I will." Jada agreed with the green-haired young man's instruction almost obediently. At least the first part. "Conscious effort." she told him. "Very conscious." One of his hands was still in hers, so she tugged on it again, squeezing his larger and more calloused hand insistently. As she pushed to her feet, tugging on her skirt to pull it to the approved length, she dropped his hand; instead, she was bringing the licorice jar with her as she rose. The jar was put back in its place, purple eyes taking in a mild pattern even to the way he had the jars tilted. The only person that she had ever seen with more attention to detail was Fallon. Lightly painted lips curved in a quiet little smile and she glanced in the full mirror to the side, trying to look at the older teen surreptitiously.

She didn't really much care if he caught her looking at him.

It did take her a moment or two to connect the dots as to why he'd be worried about a girl being seen coming out of his room. When had she gotten in? Well, either that or he had a boyfriend/girlfriend in the dorm. Awkward questions would be in abundance either way. A sigh, and she turned to face the other. "Alright. I'll hide myself. But just so you know," she wagged her finger teasingly, "We may have to find you another escape mirror to come to." She only hoped her dramatics came across with their intended playfulness to this... well, the best word would be... intense? Severe was harsh. Joyless was a lie. This intense young man.

That sounded nice. Still not what she was aiming for, but nice.

Jada glanced around the room out of habit, making sure that she hadn't dropped anything anywhere. Nope, she was golden. "To the right and down the fire stairs. Door at the bottom, and I make my grand escape. Got it." There was a touch of displeasure with the plan that she couldn't quite erase from her tone, but her expression was still fairly blank, if not amused.

He tried valiantly to pretend he didn't notice the hand squeeze, though it was hard to ignore the added burning to the back of his neck. Still, he only had to endure it for a few seconds longer as she let him go to put the liquorice jar back. Thank god for small mercies. Johnny tucked both hands in his pockets as hastily as politeness would allow it, fearing she'd go for them again the moment her hands were no longer occupied with his candy collection. He could deal with her staring, but if she wanted to make it out of the room without him exploding then she needed to ease off the physical contact.

Jada's suggestion of alternate escape mirrors was met with a strangely serious look as though the green-haired teen was actually thinking about it. Apparently her dramatics had gone right over Johnny's head. He didn't have much time to ponder her excellent suggestion, seeing as she'd agreed to their little sneak out plan. His relief was almost palatable despite his best intentions and he hastily stuffed her cell phone number in his pocket. With a final look over his shoulder he trotted out the door, looking both ways before shutting it firmly behind him.

Seven minutes later, Jada's phone buzzed. The text message read: It's all clear, but be quick!

Johnny was waiting for her on the opposite side of the small street that separated his building from its neighbour. As casual as he thought he looked, he was leaning against the other building's wall with the air of somebody who was expecting the Spanish Inquisition to come after him. Clearly girls were a stressful thing.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 15, 2010 4:01 pm

((But... No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!))

He was looking at her seriously as she made some small jokes about backup mirrors. Maybe intense was the right word for John King, she decided. There was an audible sigh, and she waved him towards his bedroom door. "Go on then. Make sure no one will see me." She'd agreed to his little sneak out plan. Not because she wanted to, but because it seemed to be the happiest he'd been since the fighting part of their afternoon. For Jada, it was more embarrassing to be sneaking out than it would be to explain why she was in his room in the first place.

But eh. She'd get over it.

He left, and she waited, sitting on his bed and idly checking her thigh-high hose. There was a run starting near one heel. That wouldn't do. So off they came, falling neatly into the trash can, and she slipped bare feet back into her heels. Thirty seconds more she stared around his room, awkwardly. For a moment, the heiress briefly debated twiddling her thumbs. The text came, and she hurried on her way. She moved quickly and quietly enough. To the right, down the fire stairs. In her haste, Jada almost stumbled on her way down the stairs. But she didn't; it was a good thing she'd already lost the hose, or they would have ripped.

Door at the bottom.

She pushed it open, blinking briefly at the fading sun, and beamed at Johnny. He looked nervous. "A rousing success. No one knows your dirty little secret. Where would you like to eat?"

Phew. She made it. Thank the gods for back doors.

Johnny's expression seemed to relax a little when he was certain that they were out of his building and into broad daylight. The fact that they were still on Sovereign Heights property where anyone he knew could have walked by and noticed them together was, however, still a bit worrisome. It was just less worrisome since they weren't in his dorm room coming out of his bedroom. He shuddered to think of the kinds of rumours that would have started had they been caught.

But they hadn't, he reassured himself thoroughly, and now it was time to get the hell off of Shlip campus and into the real world where nobody would look twice at a guy walking with a girl. (Thank god they were still not holding hands). The mention of a dirty secret had him resisting the urge to check nervously over his shoulder and he forced himself to plant his weight firmly on the ground. Nobody was looking. He was fine. Nobody was looking.

"You said something about hamburgers?" Johnny tried, a little lamely. "Hamburgers and milkshakes. I don't mind where we go."

Jada liked to think that she was an attractive young woman. The fact that her companion kept looking around was making her self-confidence considerably slip, and she desperately wondered if she had something on her face she hadn't noticed? Toilet paper stuck to the back of her jacket? A pimple she hadn't noticed? Had she gained weight? Did her clothes fit poorly and she hadn't noticed? Did this color look bad on her? It was black, black looked good on almost everyone! Was it her hair? These were only some of the horrifying thoughts that fluttered through her brain as she watched Johnny. There were more.

"Hamburgers work for me." she said brightly. Keep up the bright. Don't let him see your teeth, he might not be looking at you because you have food stuck in your teeth. Don't let him see your teeth. One more thing Jada was confident about: When it came to the male species, it was all her fault.

Hamburgers didn't work for her. She'd thought he might be the hamburger type. She most certainly was not relishing the thought of clogging both her pores and her arteries with the greasy goop that Whackdonalds covered their burgers in. And somehow she didn't think she'd be able to get him to join her someplace nicer than fast food for anything aside from sugar. She could be wrong. It was just a hunch.

She could be wrong.

It would be nice.

They weren't holding hands, and Jada didn't reach out to touch the Cavalier, or string her own arm through his as was her companionable habit. She started to, but visibly caught herself and pulled herself back, her hand falling uselessly to her side. "I know where a few places are." she agreed. "After you. I'm lost."

Unfortunately for Jada, in this case it wasn't her fault. Johnny had the eye-equivalent of restless leg syndrome. It wasn't that she wasn't attractive to look at; rather, there were so many details to her that it was hard to stare at her face when she wasn't talking. (Jada may or may not have felt better in knowing that had she had anything wrong with her he would have already noticed and commented on if he thought it required her interest. The fact that he hadn't said anything was probably a good sign).

And while he wasn't much of the hamburger type, he was definitely the food type, which meant if she suggested a place that he knew had half-decent sweet food he was going to go. Besides, now that he thought about it some, he was definitely getting peckish. Hamburgers had been her suggestion, and who was he to ignore sly suggestions made to him by pretty women?

Her movement towards him was meant with a slight turn of his body away from the hand, stopping when she dropped her hand. Phew. That was a close one. Johnny instantly brought his body back to its original position – he didn't have a problem being close to her but walking arm in arm was just too much too soon – but cast her a wary glance. She seemed to understand the boundaries but one could never be sure. Jada was proving to be a very peculiar girl.

"Right. Let's go then." With a jerk of his head he headed towards the school's main gates, walking almost as though he was a thief trying to escape without being noticed. Thankfully very few people spared a glance towards the casually dressed Shlip boy and his girl friend, no doubt busy with their own lives. Johnny was more pleased than words could express. Once they made it out of his school and onto city streets he relaxed his gait and switched his hands from front to back pockets. The chances of being spotted out here were sufficiently lower, not to mention being out with a girl of Jada's attractiveness wasn't considered a Bad Thing. He didn't have to worry out here, which was definitely a good thing. Worrying always did horrible things to his digestion.

Naturally, being more relaxed, he could allot some brain cells to idle conversation. "Do you have any preferred burger joints? I can't say I find one better than the other, though some people are adamant that certain places are the cream of the crop."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 05, 2010 3:48 pm

Unlike her slinking companion, Jada moved through the campus like she belonged there, head and shoulders back. Each step was carefully measured- she couldn't go barefoot to keep up with his longer strides, and she certainly wasn't going to chase him down. As she followed him towards the exit, she watched him, noting the difference in confidence level between Johnny King the man and the Cavalier Laocoon. Why was that? Was it the magical little masks they got to hide behind? Magic Schmajik, it didn't make any sense for Person A to look exactly like Senshi/Negaverser (Negaversian?) B and no one connect any dots. Though it was a nice benefit for the Scouts. Still, that was something she could contemplate another day.

Purple eyes watched Johnny move from behind. Even the way she seemed to walk struck her as just... different. Did she move that differently as Scylla? Maybe the difference between the man and the powered being was stronger than the rush of alien feelings Jada herself got when she was powered and ready for a fight?

She was able to catch herself before she started to reach out for him, once they were past the gate. Johnny switched his hands to his pockets, relaxing, and she caught her lips quirking in amusement; hopefully, she stopped them before they gave her amusement away. "Preferred burger joints? Not really." She didn't eat fast food much, when she had access to much classier places. Classier places with healthier menus than Grease, Grade D Mystery Meat and Wilted Lettuce. "I can eat anywhere. First thing we see and then off to the good stuff?" The 'Good Stuff' being, of course, one of the many delicious dessert places that Jada knew of. Or Johnny. She was always willing to experiment when it came to delicious.
