"Fraid it's jes me here, boys," she said, the lie coming as easy as the breath it took to say it. "Been jes me all night. Though, I do 'member seein' this pretty flustered lookin' lad run by not but a few minutes ago." She motioned on down the dock. They took the bait and left the ship, arguing over whom was going to beat the man's face in first. Lmai watched them until they disappeared into the crowd, then returned to her quarters, opening the wardrobe and peering down at him.
"That better have been worth it. You ever even been on a boat, lad?"

: He heard them leave and when she opened the wardrobe he had the pistol, butt first, held out to her. He climbed out from the wardrobe and thought of the answer. Of course he'd been on a ship, that's why he ran to one for help.
"Yeah I've worked on many a ships. Since I was a kid, pushed on board by muh parents." He smirked and straightened his clothes. He shut her wardrobe and turned the smirk to a smile.
He extended his hand towards her, "My name is Zev. Has been since I started working on ships as a cabin boy." He stared her directly in the face focused on her eyes. Lovely eyes they were.

She returned both the pistols to their hostlers as he spoke, nodding silently. Turning as he held his hand out, she took a step back. Half a second later, she realized he wasn't reach out at her, but to her, and refrained from shooting him in the face. Instead she took his hand, gave it a firm shake and nodded. "Then you will call me Lmai or Captain."
She pulled her hand back and returned to her logbooks. "For yer safety, it's probably best if ye don't go back into port. Those men meant business, and whatever ye did to piss 'em off worked."

: He pulled a satchel of gold from one of the deep pockets and held it up. "This is what I took cause they stacked the deck against me." He sighed. "Sad thing is it's only about fifty or sixty pieces." He shrugged and tossed it onto her deck. He looked about the cabin.
After a few seconds of a pause, "Well... Lmai," he tested her name, "What position do you need filled?" He folded his arms against his chest and tilted his head.

"Well then, that depends on what ye can do," she replied. "If ye've been on ships fer so long, I'm sure ye'll find somethin to occupy yerself." She waved at him absently, sitting back down at her desk. "Jes stay outta trouble..."

She sighed, not looking up from her logbook. "To the aft, two decks down. Now, unless you have a head fer figures, leave me in peace so I can figure this out." She waved at him again, trying to be rid of him. Lmai was never good at arithmetic, which was probably the reason her books were all messed up in the first place. Picking up her quill once more, she began copying it onto a loose scrap of parchment, trying to see where she'd been mistaken.

: He shook his head, "No I'm not." He muttered and nodded as he left her quarters. Instead of making his way below deck he moved up to the helm. He moved to the rail staring out to sea. "Well at least I'm back out at sea again. This'll be perfect." He chuckled and closed his eyes a sea breeze rolled over his face and through his hair.
He left the rail and started to tour the ship. The main deck, first level, and second. He found most things he wanted to know but he finally just found a bunk that didn't looked lived in. He settled into it and drifted off to sleep.

She must've went over the same lines a dozen times before she realized she'd misprinted a single number. She covered her face with her hand and moaned slightly. "Well... that was stupid."
Her books finally settled and correct, she left them open to let the fresh ink dry and headed down to the galley to find something to munch on. Apple in hand, she then wandered down to the berthing to see if their newest crew member had found himself a place. He was already asleep when she got down there.
She watched for a few moments, before she realized how creepy she probably looked and quickly headed back to the main deck, leaning against the railing until dawn, making sure no one else who wasn't supposed to tried to get onto the ship.

: As the sun rose he climbed out of the bunk. He stretched and yawned. Adjusting his clothes he found his way to the galley, and grabbed a couple of oranges. Peeling them as he climbed up the stairs to the deck. He soaked in the sunlight as he pulled out a slice of orange and savored it. "Mmmm citrus." He chuckled and started to looked around the deck.
"Cap'n?" He asked as he looked to Lmai. "Finish your book?" He started on another piece of orange.

She glanced back at him, then looked back out to sea. "That I did," she mumbled, lifting her face to the morning sun, letting it warm her. Most of the crew had begun to come stumbling back, some nursing hangovers, others promising their lovers in this port that they'd be back soon. Lmai would ignore the icy glares that would be sent her way when the village women saw her, blouse half buttoned, hair free and blown about in the wind. She would pretend not to hear the harshly whispered rumors being spread, the cruel names.
"A'right, boys. Let's get this ship out to sea."

: "Aye, Aye!" He yelled with the others. He began busying himself with untying docking ropes, and hoisting them back on board. He would piled then next to there respective tie-downs on the ship. Once done with that task, he helped shove the ship of with the provided poles from the crew. Some of them stared awkwardly at him, others appreciated the extra muscle so they wouldn't hurt from their hangovers more.

At the helm, shouting out orders when needed, Lmai felt at home. For some reason she'd never really understood, despite her mostly practical and conservative (some would say sheltered) upbringing, Lmai really felt at peace with the sea wind buffeting behind her, the morning tide pulling them out into open waters. Once they were out of the cove, Lmai turned the helm over to the navigator, and joined the crew down on deck, walking amongst them, correcting the few things they were doing, setting a few to different tasks. Finally, she came to Zev, and watched him from afar for a few moments.
Well, at least I know he wasn't lying about his experience... She waited until he looked her way, then merely nodded her approval and moved on.
But it wasn't just Lmai's attention he drew. A couple of the older crew members, a big burly man often referred to as Zero with a gnarled scar running across his collar, and another, a man with almond shaped eyes and straight black hair tied back loosely named Yuu, found Zev's presence very interesting. Zero draped a heavy arm over Zev's shoulders.
"'Ey there, boy. Yer new on this ship, ain'tcha?"

: He felt the weight of the arm, and hesitated on his job. He was lowering smaller sails. He finished and tied it down before looking to Zero. "Aye. Not sure for how long, but I'm new." He stepped out from under the man's arm. He studied him and took in the scar. Well either he isn't afraid of much, or he's just plain stupid. Zev finally spoke up after a few moments, his hand extended.
"The name is Zev, always has been always will." He smirked, and gripped Zero's forearm as hard as he could meaning for Zero to do the same in the shake. "Your name?"
Zev had traveled many places, and his accent seemed to change over time. It mixed with others and his lingo changed as well. He raised a brow at the old sea dog.

Bell looked over her new comission as she waited for her ship to be ready to sail. It wasn't really her ship but it would take her where she wished to go. she fiddled absently with her new bell she had aquired at the market held near her man's trial. She could still hear in her mind his pathetic plee of innocence. Well the judge had decided otherwise, she sniffed mockingly and wiped away a false tear. He had indeed been guilty, but whatever. As long as she got paid it made little diffrence, what the court, or lack of, decided. The ship pushed off and Bell waved to Rook as he flew up to the crows' nest to harrass the watchman. She turned her attention again to her newest target. A sailing man who had been spotted just last night in this very port. She had searched through it this dawn and gathered that he had returned to his ship and had set out at dawn. she looked over the rough sketch of the man, he didn't look like much, but then looks were often deciveing, that and she was pretty sure the sailor who gave the description had been unredemptionaly drunk. Still, she would find him dead or alive, now she was on his trail.
