While it's true that some people have forgotten the meaning of Pride and just use it as an excuse to be flamboyant and crude, that's not what it's about. As you said, being gay is not an accomplishment. But there are several associated with it. Pride is about our achievement in accepting ourselves as different. Pride is about our courage to face the world as who we really are. Pride is about valuing the community we have, the network of support and understanding, and the unique subcultures we have. Pride is about our right to stand up and be recognized as people. Pride is about hope and building a better future for those who will follow us.
Well, pride shouldn't have to be included in those things. Most of the things you listed there shouldn't even be dealt wtih hardship.

Ehh, you didn't read me correctly. I never said I knew what it was like, I said I was basing my opinion off of what I have seen. It's there in the second sentence.
